Another fantastic dining experience at OBH. They had the Hawaii menu up. Husband had the spam and the macadamia nut Carmel banana pancakes. I had the veggie skillet with scrambled eggs. They switched to Lavazza coffee and it is incredible!! We had the pleasure of Laura ( hope this is the right spelling) of serving us. She is such a sweetheart! Kind to everyone she serves. Thank you so much!!
First off: If you are a vegetarian this is not the spot to go unless you just want something very simple. Second -- CASH ONLY There is a Hawaiian inspiration/theme at the The OBH mixed with mexican flavors -- basically if you like a lot of meat with your breakfast then come here. When looking at other people's plates the portions looked very large -- the prices are average -- not cheap but not over the top. I did see someone with a cinnamon roll that looked pretty delicious. My mom had been here one other time and got the cinnamon roll pancakes, which she loved (and why we are here today) -- Nothing was speaking to me on the menu so I just ordered the classic OBH pancakes. I would give them about a 5/10 on the pancake scale. Also they didn't have real maple syrup even to purchase for extra -- they say their syrup is a maple syrup blend -- it wasn't full on plastic but it wasn't real maple syrup. I also ordered a side of scrambled eggs with cheddar -- it was a little runny and overall just average. The coffee was rank -- I would give it a 2/10. Our server was very friendly as was all of the other staff -- that is why I hate to only give 3 stars because it is a great local spot. When we left (around 9am) there was quite a long wait -- so you know it is very popular
Reminds me of an old time coffee shop. But with youth and surf board theme. People were very kind. Food was amazing and coffee was hot. It is a lot of food. 2 people could easily share a plate. I don't eat meat and there were plenty of options for me to choose from. It is a little on the noisy side at lunch time and tables are kind of close together. We hadn't any wait for a table but it was a long wait for the food. They seemed like they are busy a lot because they even have a covered waiting area outside. I would eat here again but not if you are in a hurry.
Found the reference on Yelp. We could not join the waitlist online but went anyway. Wait time was less than 15 minutes and it was worth the wait Server was very pleasant and helped us navigate the favorites. But with our own choices we were very pleased with our tasty breakfast food. The fresh squeezed OJ was fresh and delicious. Beware. Cash Only. There is an ATM but recommend bringing own cash if your bank charges ATM fees. Theirs does not charge a fee.
Went the other day for breakfast post workout. WOW the hog omelet was fire. Not just because I loaded it with hot sauce but literal salty protein rich greatness. We love this place and hope it stands the tests of time as it's such an asset to north phoenix
Another great meal at OBH! Came back again since we were in Phoenix. We arrived Friday around 7am. We were seated right away. Our waitress was super sweet. I ordered the Loco Moco, my husband ordered the linguica and cheddar scramble with hashbrowns and sourdough toast, and we got the granola and banana pancakes to share. The loco moco was good, but it lacked a little salt. My husband liked his scramble. And the pancakes were good. A little dry, but with some syrup they were delicious. The portions are huge. By the time we left it was pretty busy. There is a lot of parking in the strip mall location. Would recommend this to anyone in the Phoenix area.
We had the Horchata, side of Potatoes, Chicken & Waffles, Pancakes, side of eggs, and fries. We liked everything, and loved the service, wait staff are very nice. Only negative was the long wait to be seated for a weekend morning. They do get packed so be prepared to wait.
My meal was good overall. The french toast was the highlight, chicken fried chicken was flavorful, nothing special about the eggs. 20-minute wait on a Saturday morning, cash only with an ATM on-site. This is my go to breakfast spot that I take any visitors to.
Oh my gosh what a fantastic breakfast! Came in on a Sunday around 9:45 and it was definitely a wait. They quoted us 40min and it was just about 40min. So be prepared on a weekend. We ordered the pork green chile omelette.. so, so good! Yum. Glad we got a good photo for reference. Big portion. You got a choice of a side so we added on the pancakes for an extra dollar or two. The raspberry crème crepes were nice because they're not as heavy as pancakes but still filled that sweet craving I was having. Made the combo with sausage and eggs- the sausages are thicker and bigger than standard links, Third entree was biscuits and gravy with eggs and hash browns. The gravy was chunky, it tasted home made, it was sooooo good! We think it's the best biscuits and gravy we've ever tried. I'm still thinking about it and it's dinner time haha. Great spot! I see why it's so popular,
Excellent food, ambiance, and service! Go now!!! (They only take cash but they have two free ATMs)
OMG-how did we ever find hidden gems like this when traveling before review sites like this! As we drove north I couldn't really remember why I jotted this spot down for breakfast as it seemed a bit out of the way-but once we arrived inside, it was clear. This surfing theme breakfast joint run by a retired surfer from Cali who reported being in the restaurant business for over 50 years when I chatted with him. (Hint he's the tall retiree wearing a Hawaiian shirt and checking in with everyone). The menu has an endless list of almost every breakfast concoction imaginable from buttery flakey biscuits, pancakes, cinnamon rolls eggs and a host of Mexican specialties, chicken and waffles as well as other items. Judging from all the benches outside, there's probably a wait at times to get in although on a Monday at 8 am we got a cozy booth without a problem. It was still busy but no wait at that time. Staff is friendly and food comes out quickly. My raspberry cream crepes were a nice change of pace and my wife was pleased to be able to just order 2 poached eggs with avocado and a biscuit. Prices are reasonable although make sure you have cash as this is a CASH ONLY restaurant. The interior is all surfing memorabilia -bright and cheery. In the end well worth the 15 min drive north.
Normally there is a long wait at this restaurant but we walked in and were sat right away. The birria chilaquiles were ok, the flavor was a bit bland. The pancakes were simple but good. This is a cash only restaurant but they do have an ATM inside. On the ATM it says NO FEE however, I checked my bank account and was charged an ATM fee?
Reviews are largely positive. People highlight the friendly, attentive staff, creative breakfast menu with large portions, and a lively, surf-themed atmosphere.

Woke up in San Diego, CA and ate breakfast in Phoenix, AZ. Visiting Phoenix for a work conference. We literally woke up at 0500, caught an early flight, and sat down to eat at OBH by 0930! I found out about OBH by searching "breakfast" on Yelp the night before. It was a weekday so it was not crowded, we waited about ten minutes to be seated. I ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken which came with two eggs and French Toast. My wife had the Popeye Omelette (Spinach) it came with hash browns and pancakes. We also ordered a Cinnamon Bun and Lemon Lavender Scone to-go. Breakfast was served hot, portions were right, and everything was delicious! I can't forget to mention the fresh Orange Juice was really good, a must add to your breakfast! A highlight was when we ate the Scone and Cinnamon Bun later in the evening for dessert in our Resort room, paired with a glass of milk, and watching a movie, it was heaven! We plan on eating breakfast here on the way back to the airport for our flight home in a few days. read more

Leo! Thank you SO much for this great review! I am kicking myself at…
Have you run out of options for breakfast? I would like to highly recommend the Original Breakfast House. I came here with a friend after numerous calls around the city where the minimum wait was at least 45 minutes. Once we entered we were seated promptly. What's great about the OBH is that the menu is incredibly big. There are so many options here. In scanning the restaurant checking out what others had ordered I can see why they're a popular spot. I once again took a chance and ordered something I've never had before. I had the Classic Benedict: Two English muffin halves, topped with ham, two poached eggs and scratch hollandaise sauce. I also ordered the French toast. My breakfast was pleasant and enjoyable. I'm usually a fast eater but I found myself very relaxed and taking my time enjoying each bite. I liked the French toast but their's is a little different here. Not a favorite, but was good. I preferred the Benedict over the French toast. It was absolutely fresh and delicious. From the time we ordered to the time we got the food took about 10 minutes. They're fast. Simply put, this is one of those places that as you leave you feel comforted because you "found another reliable option". The place is big enough that people are always coming and going. This is the kind of place you'll never have to worry about waiting an hour to get in because people come here to have an incredible breakfast (or lunch) and go on about their day. The staff was very friendly and the waitress knew the menu inside out. She gave some excellent recommendations that I plan on trying in future visits. read more

We were told there was a 15 min wait and there was. Thank goodness for the covered outdoor seating area otherwise, we would have been drenched by the rain. There were too many people waiting and not enough room inside. But, since the place was recommended we waited. Great menu with lots and lots of choices. I decided to try with Eggs Benedict- without the Ham. The nice thing is that if you don't get the ham, they offer you other options. You can get spinach or sliced tomatoes. I went for the tomatoes. I also got my Hollandaise on the side. Some cooks put too much on top. The eggs were cooked the way the were supposed to be - I was happy about that. ( sometimes they are overcooked) Food was good. Service was good. BRING CASH. CTEDIT CARDS NOT ACCEPTED read more

Tip: This place only takes cash - they have ATM machines that you can use in case you only have a card Tip 2: It is also close to the PHX airport in case you need to grab some breakfast before heading to catch your flight The portions are big (I got the chicken and waffles and I couldn't even finish the waffles). I would not say it is amazing, but at least it's food. The sausage and gravy for the chicken and waffles was good. I also ordered the pumpkin spiced pancakes because I am a huge fan of anything pumpkin during the fall season, but it didn't live up to expectation. Chicken & Waffles was $14.50 and the pancakes were $12 - plus tax, I paid $28.78... But our waitress Seta was very nice - she made up for the food :) read more

Me and my family came here for breakfast on a tuesday and was greeted by a man who kindly opened the door for us. We checked in and was seated right away! Cool place, and lots of wall decorations! We ordered orange juice to start. BOY IS THERE ORANGE JUICE GOOD! 3.50 for a fresh squeezed glass... cant beat that! I ordered the huevo rancheros and was not disappointed. Eggs were cooked perfectly, chile verde was flavorful but not over powering, hash browns were nice and crispy and the torilla was nice and warm. They didnt taste freshly made but al the other components were so good. My mom got the french toast. It tasted like it was deep fried?? Very interesting and not your traditional french toast ( in a good way ). A little on the heavy side though. Portions here are generous and everything is priced very reasonably. I came here hungry and left happy. Will definitely come back again in the future. read more

Don't let the lines fool you because it does move fast! I really wish that this location would move to a better and bigger location with a parking lot that isn't filled with potholes and actually parking lines. The food is good, the prices are ok but they only take cash which, is hard to remember, however, they do have a ATM in the location so that helps! It's so cute that they had kids outside today, with umbrellas, asking you if you need coverage and were willing to walk you to your car/ since it was raining. Shout out to the cutest lil blonde haired girl who gave me puppy face sadness when I told her that she didn't need to walk me to my car and I felt bad because she really wanted to walk me. I just didn't want to make her walk me since the parking lot was madness. It wasn't about cash tips either. Adorbs!!! read more

Went for breakfast last week. Very enjoyable. Staff friendly and attentive. We shared a cinnamon bun which was gooey but thankful just sweet enough and not overly sweet. First one that I enjoyed. I had the hog heaven omelet and my sister had a 5 egg white scramble. Very tasty. Instead of toast I had the biscuit. Tasty but a bit dry. Be aware that this restaurant is CASH ONLY, however, they do have no fee ATMs. read more

Always delicious, great menu, cute atmosphere, clean and comfortable, the OBH is an amazing eatery in North Phoenix. The building itself has housed many breakfast spots, this one is a welcome addition. Using local produce and proteins is always welcome in any community, OBH does it daily. Their baked items are yummy, fresh and some are thoughtful like the house-made pop tarts! Consistently delicious food is a hallmark of a well run restaurant. The servers are kind, making a nice living in a fun place where management seems to be on point. Oh, cash only to keep costs down passing it on to the customer. Run!!!! don't walk to OBH :) You can trust me, I'm in the business ;D read more

Location; on Thunderbird and 32nd Street on the Southeast corner - you can't miss it. Food; Got the Bacon & Egg breakfast and it plenty of food - everything was cooked to order and so good. Eggs cooked to order, the potatoes were perfect and had perfect amount of seasoning. The pancakes finished off the meal with a bang. Delicious. Service; Danielle was a sweetheart, she had her hands full and still had a smile on her face- always making sure we had hot coffee and satisfied. Must try! read more
We've been here half dozen times @ least. Come early there's always a wait before 11am, but worth it. The have plenty of outside seating & cold waters for you. Very large seating area & good service. Omg one of the best french toast I've had. Battered and a light fry on them. Thick Texas style toast. Came with chicken fried chicken and eggs. This spot is a must visit if you love breakfast. The food is fantastic. The hash browns are a bit bland but paired with the house hot sauce - YES. The lemon lavender scone is necessary. The cinnamon roll is great, I'm just not a cinnamon roll person (I know, you probably no longer trust me). The pancakes have a hint of lemon which I was unsure about until I took a bite. And if you're not adventurous, bacon, eggs & sourdough toast are also a win. It was clean, casual & the staff is knowledgeable. They gave great recommendations. Get here. For my Birthday week, my BF & I decided to come here. I saw the great reviews & figured it would be an awesome choice, plus they have Gf items for my bestie. The wait to get in on the weekend is at least 45 mins. They have a sign saying that your table time may be limited to 1 hour & 15 mins when they are busy. When we finally got to the table, I felt super rushed to order & not all drinks are listed. So, my BF got eggs & I ordered the strawberry crepe. The food is amazing!! My rating is due to lack of interaction from the waitress & the fact the this is a CASH only restaurant. read more

I so wanted to give this restaurant 4 or 5 stars. The presentation of the food was on point. However the flavor on the Dutch baby and triple berry French toast was sub-par. It was missing the flavor pop. I added a dash of salt to bring some of that flavor to the surface. We were also seated right next to the kitchen, with lots of bumps from service coming in and out. Not ideal but understand the diner feel. We will be back to give another try. read more

Your French Toast Deluxe is smiling at you. While the nouveau riche sit in cramped Scottsdale restaurants that wish to conserve energy and cook you, I am sitting in a beautiful, cool OBH with the best servers, poofy and flash fried French toast and bacon that would turn my Westies into snapping turtles! This is an updated review for our favorite breakfast place. Still 5 stars, still so delicious. The bacon, goat cheese, and Asparagus scramble are still my absolute favorite, and we still get cinnamon rolls all the time. However, if you haven't tried the lemon lavender scones, then you're missing out. It comes with sweet cream and lemon cream, mouth watering. I have dreams about this scone. We also absolutely love the addition of the jukebox. Whenever we're here, you'll likely hear her picks of Elvis and Imagine Dragons. A family breakfast at this spot is a must! A warm, inviting, and casual atmosphere brought together by an awesome owner and friendly staff. The food is classic and elevated-- everything I've had is fresh and delicious. Many menu items are the "OBH" way, which is to say, a cut above the rest. It is cash only (no-fee ATM inside) and you'll probably have a wait during peak breakfast times, but it is well worth it! read more

Finally had my mom in town and was looking for a nice place to take her before she went back home so I have wanted to try this place for awhile and all the reviews have been good so here we are. Why did I wait so long!!!! This place is fantastic we came and the wait was 15 minutes not bad it is a Friday morning and i know now I would skip work to come eat here. The service is top notch. And the food was great. We both had omelets and they were fluffy and light and all the fillings and toppings were fresh and amazing. So not to go on and on as I could with this place just get over here and have some great food and service. read more

Ok, I have to admit that I'm a very picky eater, so when I like the food, I REALLY like the food lol. Service was amazing and we LOVED our server Alex! FYI, CASH ONLY. Enjoy! read more

I wish I would've gotten the name of the server who took my to-go order (on Saturday, February 20th). I came in with the intent to eat at the restaurant, but there was a wait, so I decided To-Go was the better option. The "nameless" server was super nice and helpful in the process. As I scored through the menu options, I asked what she suggested. She pointed at the Green Chile Benedict, which sounded awesome, but I was feeling a little more "sweet and savory-ish". So then she suggested the Chicken Fried Chicken, which came with two pieces of chicken, gravy, eggs and a piece of French Toast. I was hesitant to order the Chicken Fried Chicken at first because it sounded like Chicken Fried "Steak"- which I'm not normally a fan of. But she seemed pretty excited about it and said it was a hit, so I was sold. She jotted down my order: Chicken Fried Chicken, eggs- scrambled w/ added cheese, French Toast (w/ an additional piece), a Brioche Cinnamon Roll w/ cream cheese frosting, along with a fresh-squeezed OJ and coffee. Oh Lordt. She got it all...down to my "picky" packaging requests (to have the gravy separate, as well as the chicken and French Toast) so I didn't arrive back home with my food combined into one pile-o-ingredients. Although the servers were rushing around to provide the customers with top-notch service, she assured me that I could wait near the order counter without being in anyone's way. So I headed to the ATM (CASH ONLY accepted- but their ATM doesn't have a fee), and by the time I pulled out the money and got back to the counter, she was already bagging up my items and prepping my drinks!! She was like the Houdini of servers. "POOF! Your food's ready!" Haha. I got home and my oh my...ALL of the food was amazing!!! The Chicken Fried Chicken was SO SO SO BOMB- soooo flavorful and juicy! The gravy was good; it added that extra layer of deliciousness. My eggs were perfectly prepared, and the French Toast: THEE BEST hands-down. I'm not sure HOW they prepare it, but I'm addicted. The fresh-squeezed OJ was yummy and refreshing, and the coffee was coffee. (I'm not really sure how to judge coffee- but I can tell you when it's bad, and this wasn't the case at all.) I didn't finish all of the food because (Surprise!)... I over-ordered again. But I'm not mad about it. And I'm still looking forward to eating my Brioche Cinnamon Roll! I do plan on coming back again. Between the friendly, fast service and the over-the-top excellent food; it's a no-brainer. No wonder there was a wait! But it's good to know that if you're strapped for time, To-Go is a solid option! Thanks for wow-ing me, OBH! Shout-out to my server for providing exceptional service and food advice! read more
