To be honest the should charge more for the desserts and some of the main courses . Savoy cabbage = Bangin Queso = Bomb Empanadas= Bomb The Tuna was the star of the App show. So freaking good . Look , if you want to go out for an amazing meal in a very nice restaurant go to Origen . If your going to nit pick every little thing get behind the counter and see if you can do better . We went out to celebrate a birthday and reserved the private wine dining room. It was absolutely beautiful! I had been here already knew how great the service and food measured up. This time was no different it was outstanding from beginning to end from our wait staff to the delicious guacamole with fried pork belly and the rib eye. was really excited about trying this place. We were a party of 5 with a two year old, celebrating my son in laws birthday. I arrived and there was no one at the front desk for seating. Waited a bit and then went around the corner to see if anyone actually worked here. Waited a total of ten minutes before someone came up front. We had reservations and the place was empty. She asks me to wait a few so she can go set up our table. Again after a very long wait she comes back and takes us to our table. Server came and brought our water and took our drink order and app order. Daughter asked if they had a kids menu and they said no. This is not a kid friendly place so do not bother if you have kids. Drinks took a long time to come out. Appetizer finally came out and I realized we needed to order another one because it was not enough for the whole table. Tried to get the servers attention. Had to flag down a different server to ask ours to come to the table. Watched as she talked to our server and instead of coming to our table she went about her business and eventually made time for us. Appetizers were good by the way. Service follow up was no-existent. Dinner came out and my daughters burger was very good. But the rest of the meals were alright. I ordered the Barbacoa, flavor was good but not much else. Tortillas were overcooked and not much accompanied it. For the price and the service this place is not worth it. If you have children, stay away, not kid friendly at all. I understand that too. Been to this restaurant 2 times in a week. Not because we wanted to but because 2 couples of our friends wanted to go. First night I ordered tacos and the were not memorable considering it was $38 for 4 tacos. Taco shells were chewy. Many items on menu were not in stock. 2nd night we ordered the Chicken Mary. It was so salty that we could only eat half of it. Pretty good service from Chris, our waiter, even though he did disappear once for about 15 minutes Hats off to Ryan and Sarah at the bar. We arrived at 6 for a 6:45 reservation so we could relax at the bar. At 6:15 the hostess showed up and said our table was ready. We only had finished 1/2 of our drinks so we said that we would wait until 6:45. About 10 minutes later the hostess showed back up and said that it would be more convenient for the restaurant for us to come to our table at 6:30 rather than 6:45. Walking in, the female behind the counter was on the phone and didn't do or say a thing to let us know anything- just kept talking so we stood there for a kind waitstaff person to see us and walk us in to be seated. We have heard about the steaks and were very excited to enjoy a dinner. My filet mignon was sliced into 3 pieces upon arrival- no substitutions for their side of chunky mashed potatoes with a side of onions and jalapeños, had to order an extra side to get what I wanted. The truffle fries were outstanding. My steak came out room temp, got a warm-up and couldn't finish it as my medium rare order had dried out. Dishes were chipped and wine glasses were clean, but not clear. I don't know, I'm sure I'm asking too much but polishing up beautiful wine glasses is worth an effort, there were enough employees standing around chatting with each other to make that happen. My son and daughter in law had an amazing meal with them the night before but they ordered other items. Still looking for a good steak. This wasn't it. The decor is over the top cool. Great vibe, interesting, unusual. Lots of wood in so many different applications. Loved the atmosphere. We were seated in a great location where we could check out the entire place- the kitchen, the bar, the crowd. The place was full but it wasn't noisy. Our waitress was so good, she was personable, welcoming, helpful. I apologize for not remembering her name. She walked us through the menu, gave us a few suggestions, took our drink order. We then got the complimentary tostadas with bean dip. Fun presentation. We shared the octopus and the 4 beef tacos. The octopus was delicious and so tender. The tacos came out with 2 big bones with the bone marrow exposed. The waitress explained that we put the bone marrow on the taco and it gives it a creamy, buttery flavor. I was a bit apprehensive but followed her advice - the tacos were yummy. The menu has a lot of variety. We are excited about finding this new place. The ambiance is beautiful, kind of hard to find as their sign faces opposite direction of parking. They are new so I take this in consideration as the server forgot settings, to refill water and to check on us throughout the meal. Meat was very delicious but remember to order sides at the same time as ours did not come out together and the ribs were rare not what we ordered and when they took them back it took a long time to return and we were done with meal. The drinks are different, I liked them but it took about 20 to 30 minutes and they mixed up the order, ugh. In time I am sure they will dial it in but for now be patient, order all at once and ask server to check on you every 20 minutes. read more

Really disappointed with our experience tonight at Origen. We booked reservations some time ago and had to cancel so we were pumped about coming in today. We were seated quickly which was nice. We didn't get to see much of the restaurant because we were 15 feet away from the bathrooms, in what you'd imagine the kids section at a Dennys, around the corner, and not in the mix. We ordered the Brie and guacamole appetizers. My husband I ordered two different drinks -- both tasted of pure lime juice. One of the drinks was remade and it was much better the second go around. We ordered the Barbacoa Regia, really lacked flavor, our server told us most people order and don't know it's like pulled pork with some fat throughout which was fine but needed some sort of seasoning. Our daughter and I split the Angus Picahna, it was a horrible piece of meat, half of it was inedible, their medium was a short cry of cooked, this dish is supposed to come with a house made chimichurri sauce, it was either missing or lightly done and again not much flavor. For sides we ordered the elote, Mac and cheese, and truffle fries. The fries never showed up... the Elote was cut in to 3 tiny tiny pieces, served without a knife and we had to ask for knives for our steak which in no way could be cut without a knife. AND we got charged $2.00 for extra chips which we did not even order, which I did not mention because I felt like a jerk even mentioning the missing fries (why it's not my fault!). Overall the best thing going here is the bathroom chandelier and their Kleenex dispensing napkins in the restroom. Really underwhelming. read more

I'm so looking forward to forward to this place getting their people all in line. We went on the second night opening. We saw the insta with the stake being cooked table side. They did not offer that on the second night it was open. Service was friendly but supper slow and a bit disappointing all to be expected on the second night. We got a Tomahawk Stake, it was cooked a little too much and needed salt that the table did not have. We also had the bone marrow that was cooked perfectly but had no searing. We made a night of it and dressed up, the atmosphere is amazing. Over all it was a good dinner and I'm sure in the coming few weeks this place will easily be a 4-5 star place. read more

It pains me to write this for a potential spot I could regularly visit, especially as it is in my neighborhood and want to see this area thriving with small businesses. Warm and cozy decor with mood lighting and a great bar. Comfortable seating and very clean. Likely a great place to meet for drinks! We had an odd and interesting experience as brunch patrons. You know how when you enter a bank while it's actively getting robbed and people are kind of acting a little unusual and interesting...that's what the five of us felt. *Staff were eating and drinking (non alcoholic) while walking around between tables. *requested everything from butter for pancakes, salsa which was provided in three mini Tabasco bottles for the omelette, and maple syrup was unavailable for the French toast. Each item was delivered individually which took about 8 minutes before we started to dine. *None of the five dishes were hot or warm and the salad was room temperature. *Napkin randomly removed from our table from waitress for really no reason while eating. *Waitress name and introduction would have been appreciated. *No military/senior price considerations. Operating a restaurant certainly isn't easy, we know as our family have two in New York. It is not the cost of the products and services we received which brings this review, rather it is value and experience we had expected to commensurate with such cost. With said prices, a much more refined and experienced staff should be working the restaurant. This is a reasonable expectation. Per living close by, we will give Origen another try for dinner down the road as there may be a slightly different crew working this shift. We tried this for my birthday in November with some friends after seeing a post on instagram - we were really disappointed. We were looking for upscale vibes, drinks and food - this lacked in every category. Our first impression was waiting outside for a table for several minutes (after making a reservation) and a couple on their way out told us to 'spare ourselves'. A few kinks as they were only 4 weeks open were expected including not enough water glasses, server stating they were out of items, and the kitchen was backed up a bit. But we experienced much worse for the price. Food: We ordered Paloma's which arrived and were terrible, a few minutes later different drinks arrived mistakenly, stating that they were also Paloma's and they were on the house- also tasted terrible. We ordered the guac (too much salt and lime), the tacos (too greasy), the short rib sandwich (no flavor or sauce, fries seemed refried and greasy), and the flank steak (tough and salty). Service: Several plates were brought to our table that we did not order. Our food came out several minutes apart. The waiter informed us at the beginning to not order the tiramisu because of how many he already had to comp. We feel that this place focused way too much on being viral for ambience and presentation of food rather than quality, taste and experience. Def check this place out. We went here on Valentine's Day and everyone loved their food. The porterhouse was good but was for 2 people. The cabbage side dish was pretty good. The octopus was great! The steak tostada was really good we added a side of beans which was great. Guacamole was great but the general consensus was that the pork belly was unnecessary. The broccolini was pretty good. There was a mentalist that night and we had a lot of fun with that one. all the drinks were just OK. The black charcoal margarita was fine. Two stars were given for ambience only...my husband was excited to make this reservation for our anniversary dinner with 2 of our closest friends. We arrived promptly at 5:30 and were immediately seated outside. Being this was our first visit, we had many questions regarding menu and server was very informative though we could sense he was also very busy. We ordered 3 Modelos & a craft cocktail and 2 appetizers, 1 guacamole & beef chicharrons & another with "crispy pork belly." A different server brought out 1of the modelo beers, we informed her that we all had ordered beverages & she said she would check on it, now the appetizers were delivered, still waiting on others beverages. The beef chicharrons-guacamole was good. The pork belly guacamole was not good. Rather than crispy pork belly as advertised on menu t was like boiled fat with minimal meat & again not crispy. With the appetizers 2 flour & 2 corn tortillas were delivered in a very beautiful round leather tortilla warmer, the flour tortillas were good, the corn were rubbery and chewy. As I was admiring the tortilla holder, I begin to wonder how they clean it between party's? Leather on the outside and fabric on the inside?? It was starting to get a bit chilly with our jackets on and so we asked for the outside warmer to be turned on, it was out of propane, several attempts were made to light it through the evening & then finally before dessert a new tank replaced and we were given their apologies (we were told someone had to go buy or fill tanks) so most of the evening we were chilled. Our server came over to check on us & we let him know, we were still waiting for the others beverages, he apologized said the printer was acting up & that it must've only showed 1 beer. He then went to bar to get others beverages. Dinner was ordered: 3 steak meals, 2 sides and 1 of our guests ordered the Octopus appetizer as her meal, we made sure the waiter knew that she wanted it for dinner. We ordered another round of beverages, they were brought promptly and out came a solo appetizer of the Grilled Octopus, we let the young man know it was supposed to be her dinner entree and asked that it be taken back and have a new one made for her dinner. He said no problem. Dinner was served and the same Octopus meal was delivered this time it was barely warm and rubbery. This could only mean that it was the same one that had been delivered to table earlier...when young woman turned to check on us, we showed her and explained what must've happened and she insisted on fixing situation (the right thing to do) and apologized. My husbands ribeye steak was good and the 2 Pichanas steaks were capped with large pieces of fat, cooked well & chimchurri was tasty. Unfortunately, the best part of the meal was the smoked Mac n Cheese. We were very disappointed with our decision to spend our anniversary dinner here. When asked about the dessert options, we decided to share a lava cake & an Orijen version of tiramisu. Lava cake was delivered and last round of beverages were brought out, no mention of Happy Anniversary also only lava cake dessert was delivered. When our waiter came to see how everything was tasting we told him we were still waiting on the tiramisu and he was honest and said he misunderstood, thinking we were sharing the lava cake.... Finally, when the bill was brought he asked if we wanted to itemize split or just split check down the middle....in the beginning we had already made it clear that the bill was to be split per couple...because it seemed to put him out at this point, we said we'd just split the total.... What we heard more than anything at last nights dinner was, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry.... Communication was definitely lacking and the cause of many of the mishaps. The server wasn't in charge of his table as there were way too many interactions (too many runners) with other staff that were not vested in our particular party. Had he been the one he would've caught most of these issues. The sad part is I'm sorry we chose Orijen for our celebratory dinner.
