Our visit to Oriental Wok was nearly perfect. It was close enough to perfection for me to share a five-star review. We were meeting our friend for dinner at 6 pm on a Tuesday. The gentleman asked if we had reservations. We did not. He simply said, "Then we'll have three more guests for the evening" or something along those lines. He was very kind. Before our friend arrived, a woman stopped by to welcome us. Top notch service so far! The ambiance is beautiful. The lighted tree and decor behind us was a lot, but it felt tasteful. Jack, our server, stopped by to get us water. When our friend arrived we had a lot to talk about. Jack stopped by several times and was very chill about us taking our time. He said he didn't mind if we still weren't ready and he'd return to check on us as often as necessary. Again, kindness and patience abound at Oriental Wok. The Ma La Dumplings were absolutely delicious. The filling was delicious and the spice level, which we knew would be spicy, was perfect. Truly a wonderful bite. I had Five-Spice Tofu. The tofu was crispy as advertised and the greens were in a very light and delectable sauce. Green onions were sprinkled with the greens. I feel sometimes greens like these are an afterthought at many restaurants. At Oriental Wok they were as much a star as the crispy tofu. Mark had Orange Chicken and thoroughly enjoyed it. He mentioned the orange flavor was perfect. Either Jack asked if we wanted dessert and I missed it or he didn't ask. Our friend thought maybe he did and she said no, but she couldn't be sure. I just remember him stopping by to ask if we needed boxes. Anyway, next thing I knew we had our checks. I really wanted dessert, but I took it as a sign it was time for us to wrap up. I'm absolutely certain he would have been more than happy to bring us some dessert and update our checks, so going without was on me and that's cool. A little bit of Hong Kong in Cincinnati had us wishing we have been visiting this gem for years. To say the service is top notch would be an understatement. Our server was not only knowledgeable, he was super accommodating and on top of everything and a visit from Susanne and share of love for Asian cuisine made our stop even lovlier. We have the siu mai dim sum as an appetizer. These four tasty dumplings were some of the best I've had in the area. Our entrées included the spicy grouper with an add-on of shrimp and was one of the best meals I've had in recent memory. The Singapore noodles were perfection and included plenty of shrimp, which were just as juicy as the ones in our other dish. The staff even shared a complementary after dinner, beverage, and dessert with us - over the top and much appreciated. My only regret is that I forgot to take photos until we were halfway through this phenomenal meal. read more

My wife and I ate at Oriental Wok this evening and were extremely disappointed. I'm not writing this to bash the restaurant; I'm disappointed because I know Oriental Wok is capable of much better. I ordered an egg roll and the Szechuan chicken. The egg roll was fried perfectly, and the ingredients and texture were excellent. However, the menu states that it contains peanut butter, and they aren't kidding--the peanut butter completely overpowered everything. For my taste, the combination of peanut butter and Chinese mustard simply didn't work. I should have had the server bring me a glass of milk. The bigger problem was the Szechuan chicken. The menu lists bok choy, tree-ear mushrooms, peppers and broccoli. I told the server that I didn't want the bok choy or mushrooms and learned that I could substitute other vegetables, so I chose pea pods and baby corn. I specifically said that I wanted only peppers, broccoli, pea pods and baby corn, and then asked whether anything else was normally added that wasn't listed on the menu. I was told no. When the dish arrived, it contained celery, carrots, broccoli, baby corn and pea pods--and no peppers. This wasn't a minor mistake; it was obvious just by looking at the dish. Given the detailed conversation we had about the ingredients, I expected both the kitchen to follow the order and the server to notice that what was delivered was not what I had requested. The server offered to have it remade, but I hadn't eaten all day and didn't have time to wait, so I picked out the ingredients I hadn't ordered. He then commented that the kitchen sometimes "gets creative" and adds things to dishes. That is exactly the problem when a customer has specifically discussed what should and should not be in the meal. I had also ordered the Szechuan chicken extra spicy. Instead, it came in a very bland brown sauce with one whole chile pepper and virtually no heat at all. For roughly $25, this was a very disappointing meal. The restaurant is capable of better, which makes the experience even more frustrating. Unfortunately, after this visit, I don't plan to return. read more

I would 100% recommend everyone to come here! The staff were so friendly and attentive, the food was prepared fresh, and the restaurant itself was cozy and welcoming! There are a lot of items on the menu, so that could be a little overwhelming for some, but everything looked really delicious. To begin, we ordered some lettuce wraps, chicken maki, and the ma la dumplings. Each of them were really fantastic. For my main meal, I ordered the sichuan triple because I couldn't decide! It was plenty for my meal and enough to enjoy the next day. When we came, we didn't have a reservation, so we did have to wait a few minutes (which was totally fine). However, I recommend making a reservation for your visit when you stop by! You won't regret coming here for dinner. read more

Carry out only review: We placed an order for pick up. When we arrived we were a little unsure about parking vs pulling up to the door due to signs stating it was valet only. Upon walking inside, a kind man told us he would have brought it out to the car, so next time just pull on up! That is nice to know. I think the eggrolls were the best i've ever had. They had chicken and peanuts inside which is unusual and quite tastier than the normal cabbage and shrimp. The chicken fried rice was a huge portion and tasted fine but could have used more seasoning. The hot and sour soup was good, definitely spicy and did include a small amount of crispy fried noodles for topping. Seasoned chicken wings were nice and crispy. Very plain so easy to use any type of dipping sauce you like. I used the sauce that came with eggrolls and it was tasty. Beef and broccoli meal was decently portioned and tasted good. The side of lo mein was large and i really enjoyed the sauce. It was not just grease like most places! In fact, it really wasn't greasy at all. We were a party of 5. Everyone enjoyed their food. One compliment was that the pad ti was the best he ever had. The shrimp toast was a hit with everyone. The sea bass was huge. As far as service our waitress was an A+. Kate did everything over the top for us. We are a hard bunch to take care of. And the bus people were running around taking care of things. Had an awesome birthday dinner last night at Oriental Wok. Our server, Brenden did a fantastic job. He knew the menu really well and we enjoyed his recommendations. For my birthday he rolled over the Buddha statue and led the singing. I was embarrassed but I appreciated his service! We started with cocktails, crab Rangoon, and ma la dumplings. Everything was fantastic but we loved the Rangoons. Best goons in the city. The beer they have a collab with Rhinegeist on is really good. The mandarin mule is also refreshing. Seriously, it's my favorite Chinese restaurant in the city. The majority of my visits are spent in the bar area for Happy Hour Tuesday - Friday from 4pm-7pm. The bar staff is awesome, and they serve theeeeeee best Lychee Martinis. In addition to the staff's awesomeness, you will also meet the friendliest patrons in the bar area. It's certainly one of those places you can go solo yet still engage in friendly conversations. I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars because that is the experience we had. I was celebrating my birthday and that is how we were treated. I am so glad we made a reservation because it was a busy Saturday night. We started with the ma la dumplings in spicy oil and an egg roll, both were so flavorful. The staff and owners were so attentive and full of information and friendly. The decor and vibe of this place is very authentic and attention to detail is amazing, you would never guess driving by this apartment building. The menu was full of regular items but also had some extra gems. My husband tried one of those the scallop and mushrooms, he also asked for extra spicy special sauce and they delivered. At the end of the meal I was treated to the birthday celebration ice cream, budda and gong fireworks then even more treats a rasberry chocolate after dinner drink. Our last night visiting Cincinnati, we were in search of a nice sit down restaurant. We stumbled upon Oriental Wok and decided to try them out. We were welcomed right when we walked in and seated right away. Our server, Brenden, was great! Polite, attentive and knowledgeable. We started off with an order of krab rangoons. As Brenden said "the best krab rangoons you've ever had". They were fried perfectly, loaded with sweet and flavorful cream cheese filling. A must order item! For dinner, we shared an order of pork fried rice, side of white rice and general Wong's chicken. Absolutely amazing! The fried rice was fantastic and full of flavor. The general Wong's chicken had no breading but was lightly fried. The sauce was flavorful, not overly sweet. The veggies were also cooked well. Everything tasted very high quality and fresh. We were very full after dinner but wanted to try the mango custard. We ordered one to-go and shared it back in our hotel room. It was so delicious! The texture was smooth and creamy, not eggy like custard can be sometimes. One of the best mango desserts I've ever had! I highly recommend Oriental Wok! I had dinner here recently with my cousin and we both had a great time. The food was really good and the service was excellent! We started by having cocktails and an appetizer. We ordered the Crab Rangoons to share. I ordered a Manhattan - my cousin ordered the Easy Tiger from their cocktails list. The Crab Rangoons were delicious! Great flavor and fried perfectly. My cocktail was divine and my cousin said her cocktail was really tasty also. For our entrees I ordered the Cumin Beef off the authentic menu and my cousin ordered the Sesame Chicken. The food was great! Crisp vegetables, the meat tender and seasoned well. The service was fantastic! Friendly and attentive without hovering. I'd definitely come back again. I went to this establishment after a co-worker recommended them. The ambiance was nice, and the food was delicious. My girlfriend was leaving our deployment, so it was a farewell dinner. She had the seabass grilled well done. It was the best seabass I had ever had. I alo ordered the egg roll. It was way too much chicken in it. The spring roll has fresh veggies you will enjoy. Their crab rangoon was banging. It had a sweet and spicy dipping sauce. I ordered the Mongolian beef dish. It was spicy and amazing. I'm not going to lie. I'm kicking myself for not trying this place earlier! It's really good. Their vegetables are fresh, meat is tender, grains are cooked just right. You can tell this restaurant pays special attention to their prep work and quality which I can truly appreciate. I am also in love with their wonton soup. The wontons are made of chicken and it is very simple yet comforting. The overall design of the place is incredible, I could spend several minutes just admiring the decor. I will be honest and say the price is pretty high but it is worth it if you are just getting 1 or 2 entrees. I want to try more of their menu since the food that I have tried is really good but will have to space it out overtime. Luckily this restaurant is here to stay. WOW!! My family and I ate at this restaurant for the first time tonight and we're now forever customers. Everything here is positively notable. First, the ambiance of dining room is absolutely gorgeous. The koi ponds, the lanterns, the dragons leading upstairs, the chandelier - just beautiful. Our waiter was out of this world awesome - very attentive, conversational and spent a great deal of time with us. The owner also walks around and chats with the customers, which we thought was super nice. All of our food was amazing and I highly recommend the shrimp and mushroom dish. The ice cream, key lime pie and red blend wine are also fun items to choose from. Seriously, this was some of the best food I've ever had and you have to check this place out at least once. Our server was attentive and helpful, the bar (cocktails - amazing!), wines, and beers offered had a very nice selection (a Cotes du Rhone rose was perfect). Everywhere in the restaurant you could spot Asian-themed architecture and decorations. It was especially pretty since it was still decorated for Christmas. Our waitress was wonderful! She was very knowledgeable, friendly and professional. She gave great recommendations and solved a problem with our table quickly and politely. She gave great service. The food itself was excellent.
