After having a terrible experience at a nearby Chinese buffet, this restaurant was a way better option for this kind of cuisine.

Absolutely some of the worst Chinese food I've had and the service was just as bad. Ordered the sesame chicken with fried rice. When I got to the place, no customers were inside and the lady who presumably took my order was on the phone. She showed me the tab, I put cash on the counter, then put a couple dollars of the change in the tip cup. She went back and sprinkled the sesame on my order, bagged it, and literally tossed it on the counter in front of me. She said nothing, turned and walked back in the kitchen. I had no idea if that meant, "take your food and get the heck out of here" or if I was waiting on something else. I actually wanted to fish my tip out of the cup but I'd probably end up on the news. Now, believe me when I say this customer service failure did not impact my opinion of the food. Had it been awesome food, I would have put this place on the return list. However, the food had virtually zero flavor. It needed something, salt, sweetness, heat, something. Same with the fried rice. The egg roll was an egg roll. So, bad service plus bad food means this place is definitely a no go. Maybe you'll have better luck? read more

Take out is always wonderful, lots of food for the price. We always have extra for lunch the following day. You can't go wrong with the many options to choose from. We do miss the lunch buffet. It was small the food was always hot and fresh unlike the the large China buffets were the food looks like it's been sitting around since lunch. Definitely prefer the small buffet table even though options are limited but the food is worth it and the soup awesome! Staff is super nice and fun to hear them chatting orders back and forth. This was my go to chinese when I lived over on the east side! The prices are perfect for their portion sizes - the food is tasty and you can ask for substitutions and additions to your meal with no issues or kickback which has happened at other establishments. My go to is the chicken lo mein combination platter w/ extra sauce and add broccoli. Their egg drop soup is delicious and not super thick! Pork egg rolls also have a good flavor. The staff is nice enough and it is clean enough - this place is one thing I miss about living on the east side of town! read more

My wife and I love Chinese food, and have a tradition of ordering it every New Year's Eve. So when we moved to the Cincinnati area, we knew we had to find a restaurant that would satisfy our tradition. We'd visited a few Chinese places in the area, but none that we were thrilled by, until finding First Wok. We've since ordered takeout or dine-in from here probably four or five times in the past six months; we just can't get enough of it! Most Chinese restaurants feature very similar menus, and First Wok is no different, but the quality of food seems much higher to me than other stores. The first time we visited, we ordered the Pu Pu Platter, as I always love to get a sampling of several dishes. And it was DELICIOUS. It comes with a pair of Crab Rangoon, Ribs, Pork Strips, Fried Chicken Wings, Egg Rolls, and Fried Jumbo Shrimp. A nice variety of meats and seafood. Everything is juicy, tender, and just as it should be. What surprised me the most is that the chicken wings were fantastic. Legitimately some of the best chicken wings I've had, and they're from a Chinese Place! For our entree, which we often split along with the platter, we usually get a General Tsao's or Sweet and Sour Chicken. Everything we receive is always Delicious, fresh, and piping hot. One of the only restaurants I can order takeout from where the food is still hot after the 15-minute drive back home. Our search for the perfect Chinese place ended when we found First Wok. It quickly became a staple in our rotation, and I don't see that changing anytime soon. read more

But it all went so very wrong after that it wasnt stir fried. at all. just kinda mixed/tossed together All of the following, some of which I know are psuedo/semi-optional, were not present in this dish: egg. tamrind. fish sauce. garlic. spring/green onion. bean sprouts. dried shrimp. tofu. In its place was shredded carrot and large pieces of white onion. most of which (somehow) were inedible end and outer pieces It is supposed to be sided with a lime wedge. they serve it with a lemon wedge To make matters worse, I ordered it as the lower end of the heat scale, and it was very definitely on the higher end. While on the one hand it is easy to argue that I simply and obviously made the wrong choice - get the americanized chinese dishes at an americanized chinese takeout joint - I think if an eatery puts something on their menu, an honest effort to produce a good/solid version the item in question should be made. This wasnt even close. The other reviews for the most part seem to indicate that the food is solid here, so I will give them the benefit of the doubt on that, and try to come back here on a day when I want sesame chicken or chicken fried rice with an egg roll read more

This is such a busy restaurant so you know the food is going to be fresh! They are priced and cooked to order every time and it's seasoned and spiced beautifully. This family run establishment serves up steaming hot generous portions for delivery or dine in, carry out too but they are closed on Monday! My favorite dish is the Moo Shoo, it's a large portion of piping hot shredded vegetables, meat, and egg with thin rice pancakes and a special sauce. It's like Chinese Fajitas! I enjoy loading up the pancakes with rice, meat, and vegetables and rolling it up. Their soups are cooked to order as well and not too salty. Very fresh vegetables makes for a healthy and delicious meal that even kids will love! The chow fun is like angel-hair rice pasta, definitely recommend it. read more

This is a good neighborhood Chinese Restaurant run by a local family that we order from when we want Chinese, they are literally 3 minutes from our house. When their children help out at the restaurant, they are so polite and well mannered. Their food is hot and fresh and reasonably priced for the high quality - the vegetables are cooked well, not overcooked and mushy. The Chicken Fried Rice is very flavorful and appears to be made with white meat chicken. The Kung Po chicken is very good with lots of fresh vegetables cut into bite sized morsels, the spice level is perfect with glistening brown sauce. The crab rangoon is very crispy with creamy interior - I always order this, it's perfectly deep fried, who doesn't like deep fried???? The spring rolls are good with a generous filling of shredded cabbage. When they tell you 10 minutes for pick-up, they really mean 20 minutes. They have a "contactless" setup with plexiglass in response to the Covid19 pandemic. Tip: for batter fried meat dishes like General Tso/Sesame Chckn/Sweet & Sour Chckn, ask for the sauce on the side so that it stays crispy. I called in asking if they could accommodate my need for the food to be gluten free, and while they said it would take a bit longer to do it right they would do it! I'm a bit picky with restaurants, so when I like one, I like it. This is one of those that I really like. The food is freshly made to order and is quite tasty. The counter staff juggle order pick-ups, phone orders, counter orders without losing a beat. The most remarkable thing, though, is that the young woman that usually works the counter remembers my order even when I haven't been there in a couple of months. This review is based purely on a delivery experience. I don't think I've even noticed First Wok even though I have driven past it hundreds of times, and I haven't dined in or done takeout yet. However, based on my first experience with FW, I will become a repeat customer because from the food/service/speed/price, FW was the BOMB DOT COM. The menu is what you would expect from your typical Chinese American takeout joint. My daughter LOVES Chinese, it isn't my favorite because it's usually so greasy with dubious meat quality. However, I felt sick all day (ie., missed a Yelp event in the afternoon and had to cancel dinner reservations for my kiddo and I at Via Vite for that evening), and once the kiddo came home from playing all day with a friend, I decided after some serious Deep Couch City TLC all day, that we were both ready to eat. I checked Yelp for the nearest Chinese delivery and FW popped up, both near my house and with good reviews. MAN, I'm glad I called! I couldn't stop ordering. The gentleman on the line was super friendly, he repeated my order back for accuracy and promised the food would be at my house in 30 minutes. 20 minutes later, delivery was at my door: the food was piping hot and fresh, perfectly packaged, and everything was as ordered. The sweet-and-sour chicken was crispy and fresh; the General Tso's chicken and broccoli was delicious and not drowning in nasty sugary sauce. The egg drop soup hit the spot and was one of the best I've ever eaten. And the crab rangoons were all the crunchy, cream cheesy goodness that you would hope for. All in all, one of the best Chinese meals I've had and all for $23! (Not including tip, but tip for sure if your delivery is this prompt! And a $1.50 delivery surcharge). Have eaten here many times. The lunch buffet is a bargain at under 5 dollars. Few tables to eat at. Most people do carryout. We have had good meals as well as disappointing meals. It really depends on the chef. Check your bags before leaving. Too many times we were shorted. Coupons in the Buy in Anderson book and card. Crab Rangoons and pit stickers are good. Dragon and Phoenix and subgum wonton are my favorite. I dont recommend beef dishes. Too many times i have been disappointed in quality. Overall one of better Chinese places around. read more

Americanized Chinese food is honestly one of my favorite cuisines. I know they don't really eat broccoli, but overly saucy veggie goodness always make me happy. That being said, these types of restaurants are a dime a dozen, so it's important that you make the right decision. You don't want to be the person who chose the wrong Chinese restaurant and you end up with four sad looking crab ran-goons and bland fried rice. (I'm looking at you King Wok in Clifton!) Anderson has a large amount of Chinese takeout options, but First Wok is always my first choice. They're fast, friendly, and their chicken dishes aren't overly gooped (yes gooped, I've created a word) in upsettingly sweet sauces like most places. While they don't have mei fun, their crab Rangoon & sesame chicken consistently hit the mark for me. Very good American Chinese food! Great portion sizes. The seafood combination had lobster, huge shrimp, scallops, etc... very delicious. I asked for extra veggies with my General Tso's chicken and I asked for an extra portion of veggies with it and they gave me a nice scoop of freshly steamed veggies. One important thing... don't go to Young's kitchen. Young's only gives you a very very small portion of rice. All I've wanted since I moved to Ohio is some cheap, good Chinese food. I finally found it! This little gem hidden in a strip mall is exactly what I have been looking for the last 8 years! The restaurant is tiny so I've only gotten take out. It seems like that is 90% of their business. I love that the owner seems to know everyone that walks in. My husband loves the chicken lo mein and I was really happy with the general tso's chicken and the sesame chicken. Is this the absolute best Chinese food I've ever had?
