I visit Original Wok every time I come out to Kentucky to see family. It's our most go-to of all go-to restaurants in the area. This is a family business with friendly staff and a nice-sized menu. Lots of drink options, too, alcoholic and non-. I always peruse the entire menu but most times I end up ordering the Ma Po Tofu because of how incredibly good it is. Highly recommended! Food is always hot and fresh! Very friendly. Been going for about 7 years now. My favorite dish is Orange Chicken and Shrimp Cheese rolls.

We have been sitting and waiting for our order for 60 minutes (not even eggrols were brought, let alone our food). The long line for a carry out keeps the door open and because of that it is freezing inside. There is a baby in a small crib in the kitchen - i looked!!!!!! Terrible service. They didn't even come to tell us that our order is going to be late. Spring rolls are terrible - doughy. Our main courses were good once they arrived. My partner ordered hot green tea. Order for Christmas for take out (tradition) and was in for a pleasant surprise. Got a traditional fried rice with shrimp and the shrimp were huge and actually cooked perfectly (i'm usually a stickler about shrimp) I also got a spring roll which was fine nothing really to write home about, but they had the order ready in 15 minutes and it was great! Yum. I love Chinese food in general, but sometimes you find a place that is a step above the norm. This is the place. My food portions were HUGE. The Singapore noodles were amazing, as were the Lettuce wraps. I highly recommend them both. The BaliMaki was a little tough; however, the flavor was fantastic. Service was fast. Presentation good. I've been on the hunt for a go-to Chinese delivery spot and I finally found it. I ordered dinner through DoorDash with zero issues (sometimes I find DoorDash itself to be slow). I got Orange chicken, fried rice, and cheese wontons. The chicken was delish and I was surprised by how cute the presentation was. It had chopped veggies in the sauce as well. Fried rice was good - there was fried egg in it but no peas or carrots which isn't a big hang up for me. The wontons were super tasty! Where do I begin? I have eaten at several Chinese places here in the tri-state area and allow me to tell you, this place is a 100%, on its last leg, dying business. The cocktails our way over priced. The dinner entrées are way way way over priced for the portions that you get. I have seen better meals out of the freezer section at Kroger's. That have better portion sizes for only a few bucks. The server that we had, was nice enough until we received our entrée. Which was wrong. The manager then came out, speaking unknown, English saying that we already taken a bite that we are paying for it. So needless to say, my wife and I stood up and left. Love this place. The owners are so nice. They'll remember you! Everything I've had has been delicious. The lemon chicken and general sos have been ordered the most. They're really accommodating if you want sauce of the side, extra spice, etc. They're great! Honest and kind people will take care of you and you'll enjoy your meal. This has to be in the top 5 worst Chinese restaurant food I've experienced in my 58 years on the planet. My friend was an artist/vendor at Summerfair at Coney Island this past weekend until 8 pm on Saturday. I was there for assistance with the booth, and for tear down on Sunday. We were exhausted on Saturday as we did booth maintenance at 8 PM and headed to the hotel. I ordered from this place based on overall reviews as we headed back to the nearby hotel. I ordered through DoorDash to arrive shortly after getting back to the hotel. My friend got mai fun with scallops and crab Rangoon. SERIOUSLY, for 14+ dollars it came with Six scallops which was something between bay sized but not sea scallops, over cooked, rubbery, and about two pea pods and tons of rice noodles with no sauce or flavor. Crab Rangoon was relatively acceptable, but overpriced. I ordered the spicy green beans with chicken. Essentially mala green beans or hot bean, etc with chicken. WORST EVER. I normally love the dish. I know fish sauce is often used to make sauces but I could not determine whether eating icky nasty fish or actual chicken. It was so unbelievably bad. It was overpowering. I paid .50 more for alleged "fried rice." Puhleeze. There was a piece or two of egg and no peas/carrots. Flavorless beyond sodium. I know they grabbed hot rice out of the cooker and pretended to make fried rice. Every recipe I have read or made for fried rice starts with cold/chilled rice. It makes it so much better. Few Chinese restaurants take the time to make it right, but I deal with it when there is a lot of egg and vegetables. This was a grave disappointment on all levels. The spring roll was mediocre at best, but edible where the chicken/green bean entree was not. Seriously darn near $50 dollars between entrees, appetizers, tax, and tip (delivery was free because of DashPass) was an utter and complete waste. My mother was a member of the clean plate club. As a kid I'd hear "there are starving children in China that would love to eat that!!" I disagree. No true Chinese child would likely eat this slop unless their tastebuds were on a permanent hiatus. Please, if you have tastebuds avoid this place at all costs. I've had better food from PF Chang's, which is hardly a chain to recommend. The fact I'd dine there over this place is testament to how truly awful it was. read more

I just had the best Pad Thai ever! I swear -- it really WAS! It was really good when it was still Oriental Wok, but this dish, like many others, seem to have really gotten better. I've always thought a lot of the Wong family, but this new version is awesome. The kid loved her kids' veggie lo mein and the Szechuan Green Beans were fresh and tasty for wifey, as always. Now my request, pleeease, new owners, please expand the Thai potion beyond Pad Thai to include some drunken noodles! It would be tremendous if you were to add Pad See Ewe, or Pad Kee Mau. More veggies and bigger noodles to fry would make a great place even more tremendous. My final point is actually an apology -- sorry for not Yelping out a review sooner! read more

Never again. If you want mediocre food, high prices, and very poor service, then this is your place. We have lived in this area and eaten and ordered from here for more than 20 years, back when it was Oriental Wok (and service and food were much better). Both food and service have steadily declined over the past few years, while prices continue to go up. Christmas Eve was a complete fiasco, with people waiting for carry out orders for up to 2 hours, and then getting the wrong food. We thought we'd give them another chance, and ordered online because it's a nasty, rainy and cold day here. Ordered through Door Dash and it arrived quickly, but one of the entrees was missing. We called, and they offered to give us the meal OR a credit. Excuse me? Good restaurants will give both - comp the meal but give it to you anyway. So even though we'd already paid for delivery, we had to drive up to the restaurant on this nasty day to pick up the meal they'd forgotten. They offered us not a refund (because we paid through Door Dash), but a store credit. Since I doubt we'll ever be back, the credit will just sit there. There are way too many great Asian restaurants in this area to tolerate this kind of poor service. After 20+ years, we're finding other places to go and will never be back to Original Wok. read more

This is my absolute favorite Chinese food restaurant, probably of all time. I always order their crab rangoon, shrimp lo mein, pad thai noodles and their version of general tsao's chicken. It always tastes fresh and and they arent skimpy on the protein. I really missed this place when covid hit, they were out for awhile, at least on the delivery services I use. I really wanted to like this place because I live so close to it. But the smell of the food was so overpoweringly bad... I ordered the combo chow mein and it was so bad I took 2 bites and couldn't stand the smell so I had to throw it out. It's been almost 24 hours and I still can't get the taste/smell out of my system. Nice decor, quiet setting and generous menu variety at this location. Perfect local place for a more intimate dining experience. Chinese beers and other drinks available at the bar. The food itself was good, not great, but better than most of the other local Chinese options. Presentation was nice. Portions were generous...you'll probably take aome home with you. Seems like most of their dishes are mild in flavor and spices...which is a little too bland for me. No decaf tea options for the tea lovers out there...bummer. All in all pretty average. read more

Surprisingly good. This appears to be a run-of-the-mill Chinese restaurant in a strip mall, but in fact it's some of the best food of its type I've found. The reason is that it's run by the same family as the much larger Oriental Wok restaurant in Ft. Mitchell, and the food is the same very high quality. I'm surprised that this restaurant has not received any reviews. It used to be called Oriental Wok-Taylor Mill and has been under new ownership for awhile. We've been to this restaurant many times before and after the new ownership. It looks like the new owners have strong ties with Mike Wong and have learned how runs his establishments. It looks they are trying to maintain his style. So far they've maintained the classy manner that you see with Oriental wok. Our favorites in this new Original wok include their Peking duck and Pan-fried noodles. We love the Hong Kong-style sauce that goes with the Pan fried Noodles. We love it with chicken or shrimp. With regard to the Peking duck, you would need to allow extra time when you order this entree however, it's definitely worth the wait. It's soo good. So I think we'll keep coming back even under new management. read more
