Not at all stringy, and lots of sauce and flavor, but still got a bit of a crunch to it. Chicken lo mein was GREAT. Dumplings slapped. They also gave me big proportions. Recently ordered from GrubHub, trying to support a Dayton business. If your old enough to remember the bland, tasteless Chinese food of the 70s then you know what to expect. The fried dumplings were heavy and mushy with a soy sauce dipping sauce, no chilis. The Szechuan pork had not one Szechuan peppercorn or one chili, I expect tons of both in my Szechuan. The hot sour soup had neither vinegar or white pepper so it was neither hot nor sour. The General Tso's chicken was a ton of batter around a miniscule piece of "meat" in a sort of sweet and sour sauce, mostly sweet, no orange flavor, no heat. AA Wok is ok. The food is pretty good. It's your typical Americanized Chinese food. Value wise it's questionable -- China Food in Clifton gives larger portions and a free spring roll for a cheaper price than AA Wok's main dishes. They could step that up a little. Cleanliness is even more questionable. You'll never see an employee wearing gloves in this restaurant. I've found hairs in my food and received stale fortune cookies not in their packaging. But, for being open til 3 AM, sometimes you haven't got many other options... It's decent. I'd like to see them improve considering the competition. read more

It's your typical corner Chinese restaurant that is great for carry out. Small restaurant, 2 tables. It's a clutch spot to grab some grub, and the family that runs it seems to be pretty nice to boot. I'm writing this review as I munch on curry tofu from AA Wok, so you know this review is spot on. The curry isn't over baring, just the right amount and the dish is filled with carrots, baby corn, and what appears to be squash. The portion sizes are either "medium or large", which, well frankly doesn't make any sense. It's either large or small if those are your only two options. But I digress. I am rating AA Wok 4 stars based on price and quantity of food. A medium order can easily feed two people. I like AA Wok when I want some fast and greasy american chinese food. Most dishes I have recieved have hardly any vegatbles, just a ton of chicken and rice, which is my preference. My fiance isn't a huge fan because she prefers more of the veggies, so it is kind of what you prefer and what mood you are in. One time, he yelled at me for the wrong city being written in my address even though I gave my right city and when I tried to explain he said "Stop. You have wasted enough of my time."
