This place is a gem! This restaurant is very small, try to make a reservation if you can but they do have walk in dine in service. They also have quick carry out bubble tea service. It's a small restaurant filled with cute toys, plushies, figures, etc available for purchase. Parking is street parking around campus and can be difficult to find. There are some neighborhood side streets that you can find and walk over. We got a few dishes to try and they were all fantastic! I really liked the Curry Laksa, Nasi Lemak, and the Hong Kong chicken was crispy and seasoned very well. They offer so many different dishes and options and they're all made well. Their prices are affordable and their portions are quite big. I recommend trying dishes from each category, you can't go wrong. We also got a couple bobas and I get my usual, durian milk tea. They're one of the only places I know that has this flavor option and they make it well. Overall, the quality of food is great and tastes delicious. Staff is super nice, kind, and patient. We took a little bit longer to order but our server was so nice. Our server recommended a few dishes and we got a couple and those were fantastic! I got the Curry Laksa dish and really enjoyed it. It was almost identical to the ones I have eaten in Singapore and Malaysia. The main difference is that the spicy heat level has been reduced to fit American taste. Portion size was 2 meals for me. The strawberry boba slushy was also very good. Like many Cincinnati places, Tea n bowl offers a variety of cuisines, however the Malaysian food really stands out from the rest! I almost always get the Ipoh Char Kuey Teow. Affectionately known as CKT, the slightly spicy noodles, plump shrimp, and fish cakes in this dish are an addictive and satisfying combination. I also never miss the Hokkaido milk tea. This is probably my favorite milk tea in the city. No need for boba- the flavor is top notch. In person, I've always received great service and via food delivery, my food was hot and delicious. I started going to Tea 'n' Bowl when I was a college student at UC and I was so glad to see it's still thriving so many years later. We walked in and I noticed that they have a lot of fun items to browse in the shop, trinkets, keychains, stickers, jewelry and more. There are a limited amount of dine in seats as well as a kiosk up front to make to-go orders. We opted to place a to go order for a couple milk teas and I ordered a coconut almond milk tea and my husband ordered a Thai tea. I browsed all the little gift items while we waited for our drinks. It was a bit claustrophobic in there, but you could easily wait outside if you prefer. My tea was delicious, just like I remember from my college days and my husband enjoyed his Thai tea as well. The menu is so packed and fulfilling it can be a little overwhelming, but I can promise you that EVERY menu item is delicious and fulfilling. The servers (and owner?) are both so kind. Do Not Trust DoorDashers at this restaurant. One of them stole my order and the owner just cancelled it, leaving me with no dinner or money. He didn't even offer to remake the order and didn't bother calling DoirDash. One star for extremely poor service all the way around. Again, I did NOT receive my food, the DoorDash app kept saying a different driver was waiting for the order every time I tracked it, and finally, I called the restaurant . The person who answered said they couldn't call DoorDash, that someone had picked-up the order, and there was no offer to remake the food or re-order. The restaurant left me hanging, I think, because you can't place an order past 8:30p and it was already 8:15p. The guy sounded ready to close up shop. I appreciate they were busy and I will try the restaurant another day, but I will NEVER order through DoorDash again for this restaurant. And I still don't have my refund. My food was stolen. Tea was good. However, my girlfriend currently has a broken ankle and is unable to walk so she is on a knee scooter. When we walked inside, there were maybe 4 people sitting and eating and we were told to wait outside in the cold because apparently the knee scooter took up too much room. No stickers or policies were posted on the door prohibiting this. Moral of the story is don't come here if you're disabled I guess. read more

I was fearing for my life crossing the street but the food was definitely worth the risk :) We ordered couple of the standard dishes from the east. The best dish by far is the beef stew. In fact, it could be the best beef stew I have ever had. The Singapore Fried Noodle was also very good. But I won't recommend adding shrimp as the protein. The shrimps were definitely frozen cooked with no flavor and the texture showed they were not fresh. I also would not recommend Drunken Noodle. This dish was more like a version of wet chinese beef chow fun and it was not very good. It lacked Thai spices in a typical Drunken Noodle such as basils. Their milk bubble tea was good. I was hoping to give a little more love to this place but the 3 dishes we ordered were hit & miss. If you like Chinese stewed beef (and I've eaten variations of this dish for dozens of years in dozens of restaurants throughout the world), Tea N' Bowl made this dish the best I've ever had. Full of flavor and a bit of spice. Pretty lean with just a bit of fat, and oh so tender. I chose the spicy version which had a little heat but did not overwhelm. The Singapore fried rice noodle was dry-ish and not oily. I flavor was good but could've used more seasoning. We chose shrimp and this tasted either old or precooked. Quantity was good. The Drunken noodle, normally a fully flavorful spicy yet savory and sweet wide fried rice noodle dish with good doses of basil, was a very sober dish. All the ingredients were there but none of the flavor. Thai dishes should be robust.....this one was very weak. Traffic and parking on this university area street is a nightmare, but the food almost makes it worth the struggle. I'm always on the hunt for a good boba spot. I usually try to avoid this street because of the congestion, but luckily I was able to grab a parking spot right out front of this shop. We were craving savory Asian food and I was reminded of how great this place was. We ordered the chicken satay as an appetizer and it tasted great with the sauce provided. My buddy ordered the Masaman curry with chicken. He enjoyed it. I had a taste of it and it wasn't so bad, my only problem was the amount of potatoes they gave compared to the chicken. Protein was lacking. I ordered the pan fried Cantonese noodles. I was expecting the crispy noodles but received something else instead. It was delicious nonetheless. The Thai Tea is delicious!  Rich, creamy and sweet. My husband and I stopped in for lunch today and enjoyed our meal. It's a small place with only a few tables but, luckily for us, there weren't many diners and we were able to get seated. My husband ordered the Szechuan Beef and I ordered the Cumin Beef. While the spice and seasonings were much milder than most other authentic dishes we order at other places - we still thought the food was good. I also picked up a Seremban Siu Bao to try later. Not to be confused with Teen Bowl, which is much sexier and often illegal. I was pretty disappointed because when I walked in they were trying to solve some problem that they had with one of their delivery companies who had sent them in order and then the order had disappeared and they couldn't figure out if it had been paid for and if somebody was still coming to pick it up. Now granted that's a pretty high priority situation. But considering that I was standing there with my money out and I was in a hurry and all I needed was a bubble tea, one of them should have taken a break from trying to solve the situation to take my order. The woman was on the phone with the company so I get that she couldn't take my order. But the younger guy who said he would take my order in a minute spent the next five minutes - and I do mean literally 5 minutes - playing around on his little app trying to figure out the order. The woman was already taking care of that on the phone and getting all the necessary information. She was pretty angry about it. Lots of yelling. In the five minutes I stood there he accomplished absolutely nothing. I was watching him closely. He was just entering the same buttons over and over again and trying to get the order to come back up. No success. Every time it didn't come back up he did it again. And then again. And then again. Probably 4 times per minute for 5 minutes. So they ended up losing my business, wasting a chunk of my Cinci food tour time after driving all the way from Louisville to try and squeeze one in, and with a bad review too. I might try them again in future but seriously. Priorities people. Serve the customer in front of you and worry about the internet afterwards. Psh. He seems like a nice kid but somebody needs to tell this kid that doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is the definition of insanity. Or perhaps naivety. And someone also needs to tell all of these guys that if a paying customer is standing in front of you waiting to give you an order and give you money, then don't worry too much about all the digital stuff. Take the real human being over the annoying technology. Worry about the technology after you have the cash from the real human being. After five minutes a long line had developed behind me, about seven or eight people. We were all in the same boat and we were all over it. I walked straight out and I won't be back in again until next time I'm in town. Located right next to our favorite Indian spot, Tea 'n' Bowl was the perfect afternoon pick-me-up. The interior was busy with plenty of unique items to take a look at while you waited for your tea. They were knowledgeable about what they offered, and happy to give any additional information on their tea selection. I went with a standard Thai boba tea minus the boba. My partner had their Mango tea. We both finished ours in no time. I was pleased with the portions sizes as well. So here we go, I was here because the owner recommended me to come to this other location. I was glad because this also has some of the best Asian food. I ordered Bak Kut Teh and taro milk tea to go. They did not disappoint. There was not much meat/ingredients inside the Bak Kut Teh, but that's the original meal is like that. It's mostly boasting the soup and the homey taste to it. It was very tasty. The taro milk tea was pretty good. Boba was a bit on the smushy side, but still a pretty solid tea. The place was very cute. Need to plan to arrive there early because of parking in the U of C campus area. Recent visit in 2021. Food still tastes delicious. Surprise the portions for dishes are not proportional to the price. The rice that typically comes with the Hainanese chicken requires extra cost, just like you order Big Mac from McDonald that you need to pay extra for buns and I'm not ordering extra bowl of rice. They have THE range and they do it well too. I got a coupon for a free entree with a $25 purchase and although I may have chosen the worst day to try it out, I was impressed with the food. Their food lasted us 3 meals between my partner and I. We ordered the Singapore Mai Fun noodles, the curry laksa, and the general tso's chicken. These are 3 very different dishes and we were a little skeptical if they were able to do all of them well. Our doubts vanished when we had bites of all three. The Singapore Mai Fun noodles were really fun to eat overall and were very light and airy. The curry laksa was incredibly rich and paired with the egg noodles really well. The general tso's chicken was not too sweet and I loved all of the chilies that they put in. The general tso's and Curry Laksa were mildly spicy so if you do not like spicy food, I would ask for a lower spice level. If you're like me and love a little citrus with your meal, a little bit of lime pairs beautifully with the curry laksa by the way! I am now a bubble tea addict, thanks to Tea 'n' Bowl. I came here this past weekend with a friend who wanted to change my life. Oh boy, did she. I've never had boba tea before this, and I can honestly say I will never look back. I honestly didn't have high expectations, because it seems most restaraunts' lo mein tastes about the same. Boy oh boy, was I wrong. For $10, I got a huge plate of chicken lo mein, steaming hot and filled with fresh veggies. The flavor was incredible, nothing like typical, ordinary taste I was expecting. And can we take a moment to appreciate the person who first made boba tea?! I'm craving some just writing this review. I ordered the mango boba tea and my friend ordered the snowball boba drink. I wasn't sure what to expect with the tapioca balls at the bottom, but the drink was incredible. The mango tasted very fresh, not artificial at all. And the boba was so satisfying to eat! Definitely my favorite part of the meal. After our meal, our waitress gave us a small dessert on the house, which was tapioca pudding with wild rice I believe. It was so delicious! Warm, gooey and comforting are words that come to mind when I think of this dessert. I would gladly buy a big bowl of it! First and foremost - food and drinks are amazing!!! Some of the best egg drop soup I've had. Second, the service is phenomenal and the employees are extremely nice. In my case, they were understanding and caring. Long story short, I originally ordered a meal through door dash and it was taking ~2 hours to arrive. I canceled the order, received a full refund from door dash, and decided to just place a pickup order and drive there myself (I really wanted to try it!). I don't know exactly what happens on door dash's/the restaurant's end when you cancel an order, but I guess door dash gave Tea 'n' Bowl a pretty hard time for my canceled order. When I arrived, the employee calmly explained what had happened, and even though they had been put through a bit of a hassle for my canceled order, were still extremely friendly and had my food perfect and ready to go. I also forgot to bring cash for a small tip (I like to tip even with pickup orders), and the employee told me never to worry about that. Super nice. Will definitely be back! read more

This is one of my favorite spots in Cincinnati. I typically get the make-your-own soup bowl which is enough to eat for about three days if you are a petite female or if you are in pregzilla mode, it will make for a plentiful scarfing of food cravings. The staff are the best, especially the manager who takes the time to explain to you the ingredients, flavors and texture of any dish you aren't familiar with. It's a wonderful education in Asian cuisine which I appreciate as a foodie! Their bubble tea is also amazing and they have many different flavors. Lactose averse? They have soy milk alternatives! The boba is fresh and the service is quick. One thing I will say they could improve is the order of their food service. The soup base was delicious with fresh vegetables. Everything was made with great care. The rice they use is super cheap and lacking any flavor. Taro, mango, and honeydew are the three flavors that we tried. Mango and honeydew tasted like candies of those flavors. Both sweet, and full of their respective flavors. They were a big hit with my kids. I went with the taro. I enjoyed that it was not quite as sweet as the others. Amount of boba was plentiful. Baymax toppers are super cute. I have been there twice and recently went to try a different tea. The first time was fall 2018 and I tried a mango smoothie which was good. I had never had one so not sure how the bubbles were at the bottom. This time I went, it wasn't super busy. I talked the menu over with the young man who greeted me. I decided on a tea, hibiscus tea and asked for not many bubbles. They explained it was tapioca. I got the tea, it was flavorful. There were a lot of the bubbles at the bottom so made it challenging to sip while driving. I did like the flavor and sweetness of the tea. I would love to try other flavors in the future. Overall it was a good experience both times. This appears to be a family business. The staff was nice and helpful since it was new to me. It was a good price for the sizes. I will be back. read more

We drove two hours from Indianapolis to try this lovely little restaurant serving Malaysian cuisine in the University if Cincinnati town center. As you walk in this cute little restaurant, you are immediately delighted with the bright, happy colors of al their unique decorations in the restaurant such as a collection of lucky cats, photo tiles of food on the wall, a wall of Polaroid pics of satisfied customers and much more. We were warmly greeted by the server and service was prompt. We ordered Durian snow, Hokkaido Milk Tea, Pandan Chicken, Curry Laksa and Assam Laksa. The food was a generous serving and super delicious. It tasted like a lot of heart went into each and every dish and it definitely transported me back to my home country Malaysia. I wish the wonton was a little more filling to pastry ratio but they're still amazing. The lo mein is delicious and full of flavor and SUCH a great value like I'll have lo mein for at least 2 days. I wish there had been an option to get the tea with less or half sugar because it's super sweet. Or maybe I just shouldn't have gotten the almond. The meal I had here was amazing. Thanks to other Yelp reviews, I came in knowing exactly what to order: roasted duck noodle soup. Amazingly, the duck skin remained crispy without getting soggy in the broth. Speaking of broth, this was a rich broth with loads of flavor. I couldn't stop shlurping this broth so enthusiastically; oil spots on my shirt be damned! The baby bok choy is a fantastic accompaniment. The couple next to me ordered a LOT of food; the roasted bok choy in garlic sauce is next on my list of things to try. The lady declared to her waitress "this is similar to what my mom makes." I washed the meal down with a tall cup of black tea. This ain't no Lipton, kids; this was the real deal. It helped to see canisters of loose tea sitting on the table.
