They used to be so much better. Ordered S&S chicken and it used to have a unique S&S sauce with onions, carrots, pineapples, etc.... Now it's both same exact S&S Chicken that every Chinese restaurant has. No veggies at all, just fried chicken pieces and generic red sauce. Horrible. My sister recommended this place for their hot and sour soup. We are both hot and sour soup lovers and I can say this place didn't disappoint. It's a little sweeter than a lot of places but different and that helps add to the deliciousness. I also had their Chicken Pad Thai. It was good, but I've had better. My friend had their sesame chicken. It was better than my Pad Thai. Their egg rolls were good. I'll be interested to come back at some point to try some of their other dishes. read more

The food quality and portion for the price is commendable. I ordered pork fried rice and red chicken curry and enjoyed both entrees. The pork fried rice was flavorful. It looked like they used ham cubes for the pork portion which is odd but, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The red chicken curry was flavorful but, I like a healthy portion of curry juice in my curry and there was much more protein and veggies. The restaurant itself is typical fast food asian. Clean, dated but, nothing fancy. I would say this place ranks pretty high on my list for overall Asian cuisine within the county. read more

I have been visiting this restaurant on and off for almost 25 years. The former owner, Raymond, would always greet us by name, and the food and service were consistently top notch. After the business changed hands years ago we were concerned that the quality would suffer. Thankfully that didn't happen. Aside from an expanded menu, everything else is the same as it was 20 years ago, including the decor. We had dinner there on Saturday evening for the first time in a while, and were impressed yet again with the amazing quality of the food. I had the combination hot wok noodles, which has been a personal favorite for a long time. My wife got the Thai style Tom Kha soup and the Hunan chicken, both of them also excellent. The service was extremely courteous if somewhat slow, and I don't think they offer adult beverages anymore -- I asked about a beer and they didn't have any. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of the experience. Hands down some of the best Asian cuisine in this area. read more

In area with wife from out of town for the Ark Encounter. Stayed at nearby hotel and ordered in after long drive. Wanted Chinese and Cathay kept coming up number one. Ordered Sesame Chicken and order of Fried Rice. Food was delicious and enough food to take home for a second meal for both of us. Only downside was delivery came to hotel but deliverer didn't text or call so it sat anonymously in the lobby for 20 minutes. Not a Grubhub or Doordash person. Rating is "not good" because horrible and incompetent were not available. These folks can't get an online order correct, and then they rely on DoorDash to deliver...double whammy. When I called and talked to the young man who answered the phone, he said, "there's really not much we can do about it...have a good one"... Cathay Kitchen was a regular spot for Chinese when I was growing up in Florence. Back in town for the night, I was excited when Cathay Kitchen was recommended for an easy take-out meal for the fam. And it lives up to my memories. I got the Singapore Mei Fun noodles, spicy thin rice noodles with shrimp, chicken and pork, with a spicy curry flavor. I'm not a huge fan of spicy, but these had just the right amount of heat. Plus there was flavor behind the heat. This wasn't one note. My only criticism was that there were only two shrimp in the dish. I would have loved to have seen more. I also had the steamed BBQ pork buns. I'm a fanatic for pork buns, so these were a must-try. And they were fluffy, soft balls of bao-y goodness. The filling was a sweeter BBQ, like I like it. Definitely get these. The Hunan Pork was also tasty. I stole a few bites of my husband's entree. I like that Cathay Kitchen has a mix of Chinese-American classics (i.e. Kung Pao chicken, Szechuan shrimp, lo mein, etc.) along with some other faves mixed in. This was a wonderful discovery! Elegant and peaceful ambiance accompanied with friendly and good service. The pan fried noodles were crispy and very tasty. The noodles are thinner than the usual pan fried noodle served at most restaurants. Portion size is on the smaller side, but flavor, quality ingredients, & presentation make up for it. I've gotten food from Cathays several times and it has rarely been good. Super tough, dry, barely chewable chicken (we got the orange chicken and the sweet and sour chicken). I had to throw out most of my portion because it wasn't very good. Really close to home for us, so I'd love to love it, but probably will go elsewhere for Chinese. read more

Food quality and portion size was excellent. My daughter tried the Hong Kong chicken, and would not stop talking about how good it was. I tried the Szechuan Mei Fun. Wow. Nice and spicy, loved it. Also did an appetizer, the chicken on a stick. Those were good, but I was more impressed with our server - she admitted they had overcooked them the first time, and had to remake them.
