We discovered Kopan during the most recent snowstorm, they were close to home and one of the only sushi places open. We hit the jackpot! We've been back multiple times, the service is in incredible, the sushi is fresh and delicious. We were there last nite and got to watch the NFL playoff games. The menu is big, but we honestly have only tried the sushi! But I am definitely going to test out some of their other options! We always get a large ginger salad and edamame. The ginger dressing is really good and the large salad is a good size. I get a tuna roll and an Alaskan roll. My husband gets an eel cucumber roll and the Kopan roll. The kitchen is very accommodating to hold the mayo and avocado. We share the Party Bus roll. Everything is fresh and tastes amazing. I highly recommend Kopan. We went here on a Sunday afternoon - they weren't busy, the place was clean, and the waitstaff were attentive and very kind. They recommended the spicy edamame - and we ordered it, and the flavor was fantastic! It was a good recommendation. I was in the mood for their Korean fare, so I ordered the bulgogi. It was a little pricey at $20, but I was hungry. The portion size was generous, but the flavor was just okay. I was a little disappointed. I have to start by clarifying that this review is based on one dish alone and that was ordered by Doordash... Pretty much everything else I have tried before has been pretty good but this one was a complete disappointment. I ordered the (Korean style BBQ Pork Ribs) per the picture in the app I was already savoring the dish to be completely honest, It was on the 'NEW ITEMS' tab so I was exciting to try them and I get that most of the pictures on this apps are fake google pictures and not from the actual restaurant but they are added to provide an idea of the dish, but this was on a whole other level. They seemed boiled, not even baked. No sauce at all, Not even the smallest chard on them, a weird flavor that a whole packets of soy sauce couldn't help with, I don't use this word lightly but it was gross. If I were the owner of a restaurant I would contact Doordash and any other delivery companies and just ask them to remove those fake googled pictures. This definitely changed completely how I felt about this restaurant previously, don't know If I would order again from it. read more

Wasn't the best place. I've never been to Kentucky and didn't expect much from the sushi department. I came with my family with a party of 12 people. All of our rolls were served on ONE platter and put in the middle of the table. We had to keep asking the person in the middle for more pieces and eventually got to the point where we were getting random pieces that weren't what we ordered. The lady bringing out food kept putting other tables' food on our table and the server kept having to come grab it and fix it. There are not many Korean places in the NKY/Cincinnati area and I think this place is 100% a hidden gem. While most people probably come for the sushi, my husband and I specifically came for the Korean food and were so impressed. We loved how many options there were on the menu! From sushi to Korean street food, and even desserts! We ordered the Ddeokbokki , Japchae , Doenjang jjigae , and Jeyuk Bokkeum and would get all 4 again. I felt like portion sizes were really big for the price which is always nice! All 4 dishes were SOOO good, my favorite is the Japchae and Jeyuk Bokkeum. I could eat the Japchae weekly, it was so flavorful and yummy. I think the Ddeokbokki was on the sweeter side than I am used to but I love that everywhere you go it is a little different! The spicy marinated pork was perfect with the rice for a rich and savory flavor. My husband LOVED the Korean Stew and the unique flavor of it. I was looking for a good sushi place in Florence and saw that this was a subsidiary of wabi sabi in downtown Covington. Turns out they are no longer owned by the same people and it is now called Kopan. So friends and I headed over and were greeted to a pretty cool inside. Very friendly service from the waiter as well. Sushi was good and the prices were good but the portions were just a bit smaller than wabi sabi. I figured since they were related that it would all be similar but not quite so. That's the only thing I'm rating them down for. But other than that it was a great atmosphere with great tasting sushi. Wood probably go again next time I'm in Florence. read more

Great little hidden gem for good sushi in Florence. I think it may have been a Wabi Sabi at some point in time, but has rebranded as Kopan. (Korea/Japan, get it?) Great sushi and great Korean food - one of the best beef bimibaps I've had in the area. Servers are quick and super hard working, and it can get pretty crowded in the evenings. Typically crab Rangoon doesn't have real crab in it, I know, but this didn't even have the imitation crab in it. The kimchi soup was not a hit either. I can say that the sushi was a 7/10 and the sashimi was a 6/10. Plenty of seating and plenty of strip mall parking. read more

We had been wanting to try this out since it opened, so finally made the stop in this weekend. It was not busy & we were able to get seated right away. The service was good, our waitress was attentive & sweet. The reason we rated this 3 stars is really just due to the food. We ordered the bibimbap bowl & multiple sushi rolls. Everything came out relatively fast, but I did feel the portions were small for the price. At other local restaurants with similar menus, we get the same amount of food and usually end up taking home quite a bit! We ate everything here & still could have had more. The bibimbap bowl was small; it was mostly rice with a small bit of meat & veggies. The sushi rolls were good, but again were pretty small portions. Everything was, in our opinion, average. Not even good if you just wanted bland chopped up "SteakUms" with no sauce on rice. Clearly this was not made with a spicy and flavorful marinade that was then quickly cooked on a hot pan or grill so that marinade then turned into sweet-savory charred bits.....WOW! I want THAT bulgogi. Oh, and it was EIGHTEEN DOLLARS! Dammit that pisses me off. Fried vegetable rice. OMG. The rice was actually still white {isn't there a law against that?} No flavor, and the vegetables were clearly of the Birds Eye Frozen Classic Mixed Vegetables variety, oh wait - with 3 pieces of broccoli thrown in. I came in for a quiet lunch. There were only 3 other diners and me. The sushi chef was on the phone with the speaker on, talking to his family. His kids were crying and yelling into the phone. The racket could e heard throughout the dining room. I mentioned it to the server and he stated they are Guatemalan and are talking to family back home. I got takeout from here for the first time and I will absolutely be a repeat customer! My brief interaction with whom I'd presume is the owner was very pleasant. He excitedly told me that Kopan (KOrean-jaPAN) just opened a month ago. They cleaned up the place very well and it seems COVID-friendly! My husband and I got some nigiri that was all very fresh and some special rolls (we recommend the honey salmon and playboy!). I also ordered japchae that was delicious. Korean food has always been a little bit more expensive than other cuisine due to the extensive prep work and flavors that go into it so I'd say the prices were decent. KOPAN is my go-to for sushi. You can never beat half off sushi for dine-in. And they have even extended that to carry out orders as well during the pandemic. My fiancé is usually craving Asian food and she loves the chicken katsu. I'm a sushi person and they have so many specialty rolls to choose from. The Max Choi roll is my favorite roll on the menu. And every time I try a different roll to pair with it I am blown away. Our carryout order is always prepared quickly and packaged securely. My fiancé always gets soup and other restaurants just throw the soup in a container and into the bag. And it leaks on everything. KOPAN has wrapped the soup up every time and it's never leaked. I was not impressed with the Bulgogi and rice. This is my family's favorite Korean meal and we have enjoyed this meal in South Korea and in many towns across the US. The beef did not taste like it had been marinated, it was not cooked over an open flame/grill, and was quite tough and chewy. The rice was not traditional sticky rice. I got the yellowtail scallion, pretty self explanatory. The joey roll which is spicy crab asparagus inside with shrimp and spicy mayo on top and my favorite, the snow roll with spicy crab cucumber inside with salmon tempura flake and Wasabi sauce on top. The two specialty rolls were similar. The shrimp on the joey fell off almost every piece contrary to the snow roll where the salmon adhered nicely. The cucumber inside made the roll more delicate than the asparagus. The shrimp was also a little on the chewy side where the salmon on top was very light and felt more like it melt in your mouth. The tempura flake were also a nice textural addition. The rice could be of better quality. Other than that it's your typical half price sushi restaurant. I believe it is wabi-sabi renamed and the service and experience are definitely consistent with wabi sabi. I walked in at 8 on Monday night to 3 dirty tables without anyone even thinking of cleaning them and only one table in the building. Terribly slow service with no sense of urgency. I had to switch seats at the bar because the coffee grinder was left right in front of where I sat and had an overwhelming aroma of coffee. I moved over a couple seats and my soy sauce was stuck to the counter. The water also tasted like there was an issue with it. I'm not sure how long this location has been a restaurant but I think they may need their lines replaced. Over all of you're looking for inexpensive sushi without many expectations this isn't a bad spot. I reduced to 2 stars after waiting 10 minutes to cash out and finding the only employee eating a giant meal in the dining room on the other side of the wall separating the bar and dining room. read more
