Okay either I was in the wrong building or everyone who gave this place a good review hasn't had good Chinese food before. No offense but this place was just gross! I started with crab ragoons because I love them, I did not love these! The filling tasted like garlic (not what I was expecting) and the outside was just way to thick. I ordered sesame chicken because the picture on the menu looked good, bad choice again. The sauce was a light orange to yellow color instead or the brown it should be and it tasted weird. The poor girl working was answering two lines on the phone and waiting on all the tables, she was way to busy. She was trying her best but it was just to much for one person. I do not plan on going back to this place but I always say try things yourself before listening to others. I hope you have a better experience then I did. read more

Stopped in this little restaurant today for lunch. It's primarily Chinese cuisine, but also has some Thai, Japanese and Korean influences. It's in a new strip center behind the Wal Mart in Ft. Wright. Clean, comfortable place with table service and take out available. Lots of menu choices; we had Schezuan Shrimp and Kung Pao Chicken. Each was served with choice of white or fried rice. Both were very tasty and had many fresh vegetables: zucchini, mushrooms, baby corn, onions, etc. The Kung Pao Chicken also contained peanuts which my husband didn't particularly care for, but I thought it was fine. The bill for two lunch entrees, a water and an iced tea was only $12.50. Very reasonable, I thought. We were plenty full. One of the owners stopped by to make sure everything was ok and she said they own a few other locations in Northern Kentucky: First Wok in Erlanger, Asian Wok in Cold Spring and Golden Wok in Burlington. Is it possible to give less than one star? Over priced and simply inedible. Some of the food seemed like warmed up, prepared, frozen entrees that you would get from something like Sam's or Costco's. Even the rice seemed mushy. If you are an Asian restaurant, shouldn't rice be one of those basic things you don't screw up? Way overpriced for what you get. Do yourself a favor and just drive over to the nearby Walmart to pick up a can of LeChoy for a tenth of the price. At least the LeChoy is edible. read more

It's acceptable to me for a restaurant to have subpar food, but it is not acceptable to me when they try to serve Costco or Sam's choice food as their own. That is exactly what it seemed like happened this evening. They served shrimp skewers which seemingly are the exact same ones that I have purchased myself from Costco and they also served fried dumplings that seemed to be either from Walmart or Sam's club. The sauce on my husband's spicy chicken dish was seemingly clearly out of a jar, as it was gelatinous and salty and disgusting not to mention obviously completely inedible. I've never been so disappointed in a restaurant in my life. Again, I can completely understand and forgive an off night or a new chef, but to serve what appeared to be pre-prepared food is just unforgivable. read more

So I have given this place three chances. The first time, my hubby did not like the chicken pad Thai. He felt it was the worst he has ever had. I had the bourbon chicken which was pretty decent. It is not the best but it was fine to eat. The second time we tried this we had the chicken fried rice. It was pretty decent. My husband loves the egg rolls. This meal makes us want to go back. The third and sorry to say the last time we will probably eat here we had the chicken fried rice. This time they have changed their recipe. Instead of using all white meat like they did the previous time (mind you that was two years ago) they use what looks like chicken thighs and legs. My hubby does not eat dark meat at all, so this was an immediate turn off for him. He did not want to eat it at all. I tried it but, presentation is everything. The chicken fried rice did not look good at all and pretty much tasted like it looked. Again, I wasted food...(this is a pet peeve of mine, that I do not like to waste food) My husband did love the egg rolls. I purchased 4 and he ate 3 of them. I had one, it is not my favorite egg roll, but they are OK. I have had better. All in all, Hot Wok isn't a bad place, it just isn't that greatest either. read more

Absolutely horrible experience pork was rancid and they refused to refund it or replace it with another option was really upset, they denied their pork was rancid and I had to pay full price and they disrespected their guest. Serious you serve shitty pork you should at least comp the food. Screw you guys. read more

If you want to wait an above average time for below average Chinese then come here. If not-- go elsewhere. I understand wait times can be long and fluctuate all the time, but don't quote your customers 15-20 minutes when it's actually over an hour. Best Asian take out IMO. They make it fresh, with fresh veggies, and are very quick (almost to a fault when your eating in). Not your mall-food-steam-tray stir fry - this is the real deal. I always look for a coupon in val-pak or online - but the food is well-priced for the quality. When we're running a little behind, this is the first take-out we look to to bail us out. read more

This place is very close to me, which means that I probably eat here more than other Chinese places. It's pretty decent, it's got a menu that is pretty much the same as the other's in the area, I believe it is owned by the same company as many others around Northern Kentucky. One thing that this place has over some others is that they make sushi. The sushi is better than you'd find at a supermarket but not as good as you'd find at a place that specializes in it. The food is tasty and pretty cheap. I've always had very quick service here and haven't had any major complaints, it just doesn't stand out from other restaurants in the area. I've always been happy enough with the food that I've ordered and the owner used to occasionally give us a free appetizer for coming so often which was really cool. A friend actually bought a giant fan off of their wall because they mentioned that they were going to get rid of it. He had the owner sign the fan as if he had made it or something. If you're looking for Chinese food and in the area, then stop by here. read more

I've driven by Hot Wok hundreds of times before I finally made it in - I wish that I had stopped in sooner! I tried a number of dishes and liked every one of them. Everything tasted fresh, which is different than some of my experiences at other local chinese places. My favorites were the boneless spare ribs and lo mein. The restaurant was tidy and the staff was very friendly - both things that I look for at any restaurant. I'm excited to have tried this place and add them to my takeout go-to list. read more

We have eaten here several times - our favorite is the bourbon chicken and it was very good. However, we had guests this evening who wanted teriyaki chicken. I have no idea what we got, but it wasn't teriyaki chicken. Also, the wonton soup tasted like wontons in water - we threw it away. We paid close to $80 for our entire order and only ate 1/3 if the food. Terrible - we are going to find a new place! read more

Both were good and not dried out. Perfect amount of sauce. Also got some won ton soup and crab rangoon. Won tons were good and they didnt skimp. Crab rangoons were ok, but not the filling type I prefer when it comes to them. Fried noodles were good. Overall not a bad value but nothing that wowed me. read more

I love Chinese food but so many places are either very expensive or buffets which I'm not a fan of. Hot Wok offers reasonably priced Chinese fare at great prices. The portions are appropriate for the price and I've yet to get a bad dish here. Service is a wee bit slow but nothing terrible. The shrimp are huge and most dishes come with a complimentary chicken on a stick. If you're looking for some good Chinese that won't break the bank, check out this little no-frills spot. read more

I have been to many chinese restaurants in Northern Kentucky, this is by far the worst in my opinion. Their prices are ridiculous, and the quality is absurd. I ordered a won ton soup, it was hot water with yellow food coloring. There was no taste at all! I ordered a lunch special chicken & broccoli, with no carrots because I am allergic. The order was not correct, I had to bring it back. When I voiced my order and that it was incorrect, I received nothing but rudeness. No apology. When I recieved my corrected order, I was given more water chestnuts than the chicken & broccoli COMBINED. There are better chinese places nearby, I would have gotten more for what I paid for & it would have tasted much better. read more

Decided to stop here to eat. I had had an incredibly long 4 days assisting some family move. I had eaten here a couple of times before, and it was ok. This will certainly be my last time however. I love crab Rangoon. Theirs was despicably disgusting! I can't even describe the taste. Got a fried rice combo with chicken, shrimp and pork. Couldn't find the chicken, and the pork was not the best.
