I love the charm and ambiance of the old town restaurant. Our server was kind, sweet and friendly. The eating area is quite small but sort of adds to the charm. Food was good but not great. There were three of us and we ordered from the lunch menus. Portions were large and generous, all the food was fresh, flavorings were just not excellent, good, not excellent. First time here. Have been wanting Chinese food for weeks. I ordered spring rolls for appetizer. For my meal I ordered Mei Fun spice level 6. Ordered food here due to the rating on yelp, my order was spring rolls, pork egg rolls, wonton soup, kung pao chicken. everything pretty bland. the spring rolls had almost nothing inside, tasteless, wonton soup was like chicken broth with wontons, the kung pao was actually general tso, that is it was heavily breaded and deep fried chicken bits, sweet and not spicy at all. Decent portion sizes but overall very disappointed since there are no Chinese restaurants near me that seem to have a staff that is dedicated to culinary quality, flavor and a desire for repeat customers. read more

I'll start by saying that the family who owns/runs the restaurant was extremely nice to us and made sure we had everything we asked for. They came back many times to refill our drinks and make sure we didn't need anything else. Our food also arrived timely and warm. Inside the restaurant is a quaint environment with cozy booths and tables that were all quite comfortable. As for the food, their presentation was very nice and inviting! It wasn't the best Chinese cuisine I've had but not the worst either. The appetizers (dumplings and crab rangoon were actually fairly tasty) but the orange chicken we ordered (not pictured) had a very strange aroma to it just before biting into it and then didn't actually have much flavor at all. I ended up ordering the sushi because many of the positive reviews talked about how good the sushi was. I'm inclined to disagree though. I ordered the Dragon and Sunday Morning Rolls (usually two of our go-to's anywhere we go) and they both were warm and mushy in places they shouldn't be. The salmon in the Sunday morning roll tasted like it was maybe smoked salmon from a package instead of fresh raw salmon and the inside of the dragon roll (which is usually cold and fresh) was hot and mushy. This was an out of the way place for us that some friends chose so I don't see us going back but if we did I'd probably get just the appetizers again. Those were actually pretty good. read more

The service was good, but the food was just OK. We had salmon sushi (pretty good) and I had beef and broccoli.

Food: We ordered an assortment of maki rolls. The fish was fresh, but we found that most of the rolls had the same flavor profile. The eel roll was packed full of eel and avocado. The rainbow roll had a really yummy sauce on top which was a nice twist. We weren't the biggest fans of the spicy tuna and the volcano roll was underwhelming. One other note was that the content of most of the rolls weren't explained on the menu picture or online ordering platform. I'd be curious to go back and try their Chinese menu sometime! Wait time: We ordered carryout sushi on Christmas Day and they said it would be done in 20 minutes. When we arrived, they hadn't started making the sushi and said it would be an additional 30 minutes. When we came back 30 minutes later, it was an additional 20 minutes. It isn't the kind of place I'd go out of my way for, but if I lived near here or was visiting the area I would definitely stop in often. I ordered the Kung Po shrimp and it was very good. It had a nice kick and there were plenty of shrimp offered in the dish. I also got a New York roll. It was better than I expected it to be. My husband had been craving Chinese food for weeks. We had not had an opportunity to visit our two favorite establishments. Being in the area, and seeing New Garden, it was decided to try somewhere new. Price for the amount of food provided was outstanding. I can't remember the last time all five of us ate for $30, and had leftovers. Takeaway containers were filled to the brim. That was true for both the entires and rice. Fried or white rice comes with the entires. General Tso's Chicken was a little spicy. The vegetables included in the dish (really all the chicken dishes,) were a nice touch. Children enjoyed the orange chicken. The special of the night was pineapple chicken. It was sweeter than I was expecting. It was also a big hit with the children. Food was made to order. We got a mix of family favorites to try including: sweet & sour chicken, chicken lo mein, Szechuan Beef, Crab Rangoon, and Wonton soup. What a great find! My husband and I decided to give this place a try and I am glad we did. We ate here on a Friday night and there was no wait. We wanted to try several things so decided to split General Tso's Chicken, Eel Avocado Rolls, and Fried California Rolls. The General Tso Chicken came out first and it was delicious. Probably the best I have had of this dish. The sauce was very good and the vegetables were freshly chopped. It was huge too, we could have split that as our meal without the sushi. About 5 minutes later the sushi came out which was fine because we were splitting everything, but if we weren't then I would have been waiting for my meal as he ate his, but for us it wasn't a big deal. The sushi was freshly made and very good. We were very happy with our food choices. The restaurant itself is very clean, including the bathrooms. A new Chinese restaurant? Let's go! New Garden just opened up in Fort Thomas in February, right along the main eating area near Tower Park. We came for dinner and were presented with an elaborate menu filled with all the favorite Westernized Chinese dishes. On the back, a list of a dozen sushi rolls including a few I hadn't heard of before: - Spiderman Roll: crab, tempura, and lots of veg - New York City Roll: lobster and tempura - Peppered Tuna and Salmon Rolls For an appetizer, we ordered the Peppered Tuna Roll. The eight piece roll was presented on the plate in the shape of a flower with artistically placed ginger and wasabi. Super adorable. Unfortunately, the roll was way, way, way too salty to enjoy. It was if we ordered a Salt Roll garnished with tuna. I did like the concept though: the tuna was seared instead of raw. Ease up on the seasoning and this would taste great. For mains, we each ordered combination platters that came with a side of rice and pork eggroll. He had Hunan Chicken with veg, I had Sesame Chicken. Dinner arrived on a platter - the portions were HUGE, especially for the price: $6.50. You know how much food you usually load up on your plate at a Chinese buffet? Yeah, this was more than that. My Sesame Chicken was just as expected: sweet, tender and juicy bite-sized pieces. The fried rice was fluffy with just the right amount of soy seasoning. It tasted healthy not heavy. Surprisingly, I liked the pork eggroll too. I prefer veggie eggrolls, but this one was mainly stuffed with cabbage - no pork in sight. It was deliciously baked too. I was pleased. Both of us had leftovers to take home. We cleared only about half of our plates. For dessert, instead of fortune cookies we were given small oranges that were carved and served with a toothpick to eat the slices. Loved this! It was perfectly refreshing on a hot spring day after a big meal. Aside from the salty sushi, the only other "gripe" I have is that it took a really long time to get our check. Our plates were cleared, food boxed up, dessert oranges served , and then.... no check. We had to flag the waitress down. Honestly the best Chinese for the price in all of Campbell County. I think the closest thing thing to this is going to be Kung Food Chu's, which is a tad more expensive but also has an extensive beer selection. The staff is great and the food is amazing regardless. This place is currently my favorite spot for Chinese food in the Cincinnati area. It's conveniently-located in the heart of Fort Thomas, making it a quick drive from the east side of Cincinnati. The food is fresh and tastes clean but with a price comparable to your average generic Chinese spot. I have loved everything I have tried so far, but my favorite dish is the Black Pepper Chicken. A great gem tucked away in Fort Thomas' central business district. I've tried close to half the menu, and everything I've had has exceeded my expectations. Taste, presentation, and prices are fantastic. I think their sushi is good based on the size of the restaurant and presented well. I tried to make a list of things I would recommend, and it turned out way too long; everything really tastes great. Service is excellent; dine-in meals are typically served within 10 minutes, and carryout orders only take about 15-20 minutes. Often the restaurant will throw in freebies on large carryout orders such as 2-liters of soda or soup if you order a lot, which is much appreciated. I like how all meals are served not only with fortune cookies, but also sliced oranges - a nice touch. Decor is nice, and there are a few TV's. If you're looking for really good Chinese food at a great price, New Garden is a must try! This is my family's go to spot when we want awesome food, but don't want to break the bank feeding 6 of us! The portions are so huge, especially the lo mein, that one meal can feed all 4 of our girls, plus some to spare. My husband's usual dish is the pork lo mein. For $6.25, it comes out piled high on a large 12 inch plate. It has big pieces of juicy pork, super long noodles, and the most flavorful sauce your can imagine. It's definitely a recommendation! He also orders the hot and sour soup. It's roughly 24 oz for only $2.95. It's got to be the best hot and sour anywhere in the area. It's not salty, has a hardy broth, and giant pieces of vegetables. I ordered the beef with vegetables and a pork eggroll this time. For $7.50, the plate was about 18 inches long and piled with large pieces of incredibly flavored beef and tons of vegetables and pork fried rice. The sauce is rich, without being salty. We got takeout from New Garden and for me it was just OK. I ordered a level 9 spice on the General Tso's and the sauce was so sweet I didn't really want to eat it and pawned it off on my boyfriend. The sweet and sour chicken was great. Very happy that the sauce came on the side so the chicken stayed hot and fresh. I will say that even after the 10 minute drive home the food was still pipping hot and you could tell was made with fresh ingredients. As a new resident of Fort Thomas, I wanted to check out some local eateries and stumbled upon New Garden. The place is small but has a cute décor inside. I had the Philadelphia Roll, CrabRangoon, and white rice which tasted amazing! I found the prices for the food items to be pretty cheap but the food tasted great nonetheless. If you aren't big on Chinese or sushi, they also offer American food such as pizza, cheese sticks, and chicken tenders. Service was so-so. Sometimes the best Chinese restaurant for those living in OTR is in Ft. Thomas! My husband and I recently grabbed a scrumptious dinner here on Sunday night, when many of the closer restaurants were closed. It's about a 12 minute drive, with plenty of parking. The restaurant itself is inviting-well lit, clean, with nice booths and great decorations. My husband and I split two sushi rolls-spicy tuna and Philadelphia. I loved the Philadelphia-well crafted, fresh ingredients. The spicy tuna could have used a bit more kick. For our entree, we followed fellow yelpers' advice and split one order, which was more than enough. We got the vegetarian Szechuan bean curd, which was spicy but not too spicy, chock a block filled with fresh and delicious vegetables. The bean curd was actually the silkiest tofu I've ever had, but its fried exterior gave it a delicious crunch! Ooh! It was great. The fried rice that came with it looked more like rice dyed yellow. Next time I'll get the plain rice. The service was very friendly and attentive, the portions were generous, and the food was delicious! I'll start with the good: this place has really good crab rangoon and their General Tso's chicken is full of flavor and cheap for a ton of food. I couldn't eat more than half of it after getting full, so I was able to take the rest home and enjoy it again for another meal. I love that you can get so much for so little. I took a date there and her meal, my meal, and the appetizer was less than $20. You can't beat that price for two people. The ambiance was nice, albeit a bit strange; blinking neon pizza and coffee signs adorn the front windows which lend a weird vibe to an Asian food establishment. But surprisingly, they actually DO serve pizza there, so it's not like it's a false advertisement. They actually have a ton of different dishes there, from traditional American Chinese meals to a full sushi menu to a weird page dedicated to "American" foods (like cheese sticks and chicken fingers). Also, at the end of the meal, they gave us little cut up oranges with toothpicks and I'd never seen that before; it was a really nice way to cleanse the palate after eating chicken and vegetables. More Asian food places should do this. But here's the bad part: the service wasn't very good. It looked like one server was manning the entire place, so we weren't entirely thrilled when we waited 15 minutes to get the water and a soda we ordered after being seated. It's not a large place by any stretch of the imagination, but several couples (including us) walked in around the same time and they were woefully unprepared for the rush. We had more than enough time to read the entire menu front to back twice before we even got the chance to order an appetizer. To be fair, this may not be the usual behavior of the serving staff there, but it was definitely a problem when we went. The server didn't really check on us again until we needed a box for both of our orders at the end of the meal. Overall, the price and quality of the food was really great, so I'll go back again. I enjoy coming to New Garden. The staff is very friendly and they are a local Fort Thomas family. The service is always fast. I love Chinese food - and I can say this is among my FAVORITE Chinese places in Cincinnati. Prices LOW - and everything was extremely fresh! My veggies were fresh, not frozen, the peppers, onions and peas and broccoli was cooked perfectly! So happy! I didn't try sushi - - but I can say I will be. Most rolls were under $5 and the chef was preparing them in front of me and it looked fab. So happy that I made it in and I can honestly say I will eat there many more times!! read more
