Orient Express deserves a shoutout!…read more This place was SO busy. Like, everyone was working, moving fast, and absolutely busting their asses to make it happen. The food looked and smelled freshly cooked right off the stove -- I'm assuming it's cooked to order because they were CRAZY busy. I thought I'd be smart and go inside to pick up my online order... nope. It was just as busy in there! No problem, though. They recognized my order, I paid, and found a little corner toward the front of the restaurant to wait. About 10 minutes in, I did what I do best... choked on air. Normally, I have a bottle of water with me because apparently I am a person who needs emergency hydration at all times. Not today. Of course. I discreetly stepped outside and headed toward my car, praying I hadn't forgotten my water bottle. I had. BUT by the grace of God, my teenager had left a literal sip of water in a bottle tucked into the side pouch of her backpack. It wasn't ideal, but baby sips were getting the job done. A few minutes later, the hostess/server came outside after me and genuinely looked concerned, asking if I was okay. So much for being discreet. I'm standing there all mortified like, "I'm good! Promise! Thank you so much for checking on me!" I went back to my little corner to wait, and one of the gentlemen working there started giving everyone who was waiting a FREE pack of cookies. Such a sweet little gesture, especially considering how insanely busy they were. Then the hostess/server comes over and hands me a cup of ice water with a straw and says, "I know you said you were okay, but..." I about died. Then the other, younger gentleman looked at me and said, "I'm so sorry for the wait. It's coming next!" And honestly? That's service. The WHOLE staff was busting their asses -- taking care of the people waiting inside, keeping everything moving, AND literally running food out to cars in the drive-thru. My food was HOT, fresh, and sooooo worth the wait. But more than the food, I was impressed by how attentive everyone was despite being completely slammed. They didn't make anyone feel forgotten, and they somehow still had time to notice when a random customer was outside choking on air. I've honestly never had that kind of service while waiting for food. For those 15-20 minutes, I felt like royalty. Orient Express, y'all were BUSY, but you were kind, attentive, and working your tails off. Thank you for taking care of me -- and for the emergency hydration. 10/10 experience. The food was delicious, but the people made it.

Came for lunch with Mom. They have a nicely priced lunch special as long as you go in…read moreunderstanding this is a pretty bare-bones operation for dining in. Clean and basic, nothing fancy. Lunch is around $8.85 for an entree, fried or white rice and soup. Add $1 more if you want to swap for a salad or an egg roll. I wouldn't do the salad but you didn't need to be told that did you? Come on, this is a Chinese restaurant... don't get a salad! Mom loves the fried crunchy noodles on every table. You will find yourself aimlessly munching them. We got an order of the crab rangoon and that was the best thing we had for certain. My Hunan Shrimp lunch was pretty good. A nice big portion with a lot of steamed rice. I did get the egg roll, which is what you expect from a Northern Kentucky Chinese place. I wanted Hong Kong Chicken - that regional favorite - but you can't get that as a lunch special. They should re-think that. Mom had the BBQ Boneless Spare ribs and, yeah, you shouldn't do that. It looked like a big mess, wasn't easy to eat and she didn't care for it at all. I didn't try it because it didn't look like something I would enjoy. This one is a skip. Service is fast and efficient. They don't mess around here. It's a cheap lunch option and my family also likes it for takeout dinner. Worth a stop but set your expectations.

Only thing is the hibachi steak was dry , flavorless and overcooked completely a waste of money …read more. everything else was great , bourbon chicken , combo lo mein ... also the eggrolls are flavorful less basically a tasteless cabbage roll... this is quite literally the only Chinese place in town, just wish there was more seasoning or flavor .. decent portions

It's time to write an update for this restaurant and the take out food that we buy. This is the…read moresecond time (out of the last two purchases, about six months apart) that our order has been filled incorrectly. So I'm taking off one star just for the disappointment that happens when you get home with something other than you are expecting. Last time our hot & sour soup order was "Happy Family Soup" which my husband couldn't eat at all because of the assortment of meats and fish. This time our order of Pork Lo Mein was filled with Pork Mei Fun. The rice noodles had ZERO SAUCE OR FLAVOR. if I'm intending on ordering Mei Fun I always order Singapore Mei Fun with the delicious curry seasoning. The second star is removed because the Hot & Sour soup was beyond HOT! I really like spicey food as does my husband but this soup deadened my taste buds towards food eaten at a separate meal on a separate day. It was SO HOT that the broth of the soup was an orangey red. Every spoonful had at least three or four visible chunks of red pepper. The bottom of the bowl was a collection of ground black pepper, white pepper, and chunks of red pepper skins. The first night we ate the soup it was HOT but tolerable because it was something we hadn't eaten for a while. The second night neither one of us wanted to finish the bowl because it was just TOO HOT! The third star taken off is for the quality of meat used in the General Tso's Chicken and the Mongolian Beef. The chicken was large, hard, stringy pieces of chicken that you could neither cut with a steak knife or chew. The sauce was obviously made by their cook that likes heat. It was orange not brown because of the number of red peppers. The whole large order only had two pieces total of broccoli. As for the Mongolian Beef it was thick chewy chunks of beef like what should have been used as stew meat so it would become tender. Once again it was unchewable and not worth struggling with a sharp knife. There was little sauce or onions with the Mongolian beef so it was a bust! My husband would like me to take off a fourth star because what we planned would be a third night of dinners is going in the garbage. We are dumping one quart of hot & sour soup, 2/3 an order of Mongolian Beef, 2/3 of an order of General Tso's Chicken, 2/3 of the Mei Fun that we had hoped would be our Pork Lo Mein, and three small containers of rice. WHAT A WASTE! That's money down the drain. I on the other hand am giving the star because the Egg Foo Yung on the first night was delicious. I'm being generous giving this restaurant two stars because we maybe didn't like the food but at least we didn't get sick like some reviewers have written in their reviews. I had it many years ago and thought it pretty bad back then. My husband wanted to try it, so we had it the other night. It was so bad that I threw most of my dinner away. We dined in and the service was quick. Maybe we're just used to better Chinese food a county or two over but this was quite possibly the worst I've had in a long time. I ordered the Szechuan Shrimp and Chicken. My husband had the Kung Pao Chicken. We both got Wonton Soup, as well. The soup was passable. The broth was bland and the wonton dumpling was thick, while the filling small. The pork filling was heavy on the soy sauce and sugar. The strong taste of ketchup is what stood out in both of our main dishes. Especially mine. Like soy sauce, ketchup and sugar had been mixed together. And while I understand that the broccoli and some other veggies are blanched earlier and then reheated in the stir fry - our veggies were ice cold. Literally so cold that they were cooling off our steaming entrees. It made the food cold quickly. Between the off putting ketchup taste and the food turning cold from the cold veggies - I ended up throwing out most of my food. I won't be returning.
