Mondays are not easy for finding Chinese restaurants that are open, or so it seems. I was finishing a shift down the road and wanted some Chinese food. I found out about Imperial Wok. I placed my order online for pickup at a certain time. I got held up and was still working when they called to make sure I didn't forget about my order. They were so kind. I made it there with 1 minute until they closed and they were so sweet. I wasn't the only person with an order, as someone had just placed an order right before I got there. It was your typical Chinese restaurant - order at the counter and they call you when it's ready. Nothing unexpected. I LOVE shrimp egg rolls. I ordered a couple for myself and they almost didn't make it home. I got some hot and sour soup and orange chicken with white rice for my husband. The food was good. I'm a bit picky about egg rolls, too. I'm glad to have discovered Imperial Wok and I will be back. read more

First of all the restaurant was absolutely filthy. Even the pen I picked up to sign my check was covered in food and grease. And just based off of what I saw when I walked in the front door I will never order from here again I try never to disparage Small business Especially in my community. This place is just around the corner from me. I could've just as easily lit $25 on fire and walked away. I got shrimp lo mein the noodles were stuck together as if they didn't stir them while they were cooking them. There's absolutely zero vegetables in this but onions there's about five pieces of shrimp and the shrimp is gritty. I don't know what this is that they sold me as crab Rangoon but this is not crab Rangoon there's about a half a teaspoon of filling in each one of these the outside taste like it was cooked in old fish grease! Whenever I'm looking for Chinese carryout, I always go to imperial wok. I usually order General tso chicken, lunch special with an extra egg roll. Food is always very good, and service is always friendly. I think it's family owned, which I think is always better than a chain. Right now, they are currently offering carryout. I ordered orange chicken for my friend and it looked delicious, my brown sauce for the healthy meal was too salty. My spring roll was average and my shrimp with lobster sauce with fried rice wasn't heavy or too salty - it was fairly light and their fried rice was cooked well with light oil. I was actually shocked because most places when you order crab ragoon they're not filled with enough cream cheese and are hard. I've lived down the street from here for a while now but didn't know about it till recently. I always order the same thing now: beef and broccoli with white rice and wonton soup. The first time I came awhile ago the wonton was too salty and my partner gave me his eggroll which tasted odd. I was hesitant to go back but we did so like a month later and things were much better. The eggrolls seem a little weird still but are better. The food is always fresh and hot. Sometimes it's still being made when we arrive. This is hands down the best Chinese take-out joint in the Dillonvale/Deer Park/Silverton area. The restaurant is always immaculately clean, the family who owns the place is extremely nice, and best of all...the food rocks! My go-to meal is the General Tso's Chicken, which has just the right balance of spice and flavor. My wife's favorite is the shrimp fried rice. I'm not a shrimp person, but she absolutely loves it. I've only done carry out but there is a small dining area to the right when you walk in if you would like to eat there. They also have delivery if that is your thing. This also seems to be a hot dining spot for the local police. So, if Deer Park's finest go there, then they must be doing something right. I've tried just about all of the local Chinese take-out offerings and this has been my favorite on all levels - food, friendliness, and cleanliness. Give them a try. read more

Ordered Mu Shoo Pork and Sautéed Green Beans and was very happy with both. Flavorful stuff, and very generous dinner portions. Imperial Wok is Your typical hole-in-the-wall sort of location. You'd miss the sign if your not looking hard. We went expecting to order takeout but stayed since the decor was actually pretty nice and the place was well kept. Been missing Yat Ka Mein since it closed and Silver Wok since the change in ownership, but Imperial Wok should fill the gap in cheap, easy Chinese cuisine quite nicely. read more

Went here with my girlfriend on a breezy, cool day. We were looking for some hot, tasty Chinese food. We were greeted by friendly staff as we entered the restaurant. There was a healthy line of people picking up orders and making them. (It's a good sign when it's busy, right?) She ordered the chicken egg foo young and loved it. Saying, "The gravy is delicious. I love this gravy more than you." Which broke my heart at first until I tried a bite of her order dosed in gravy...Damn. I love it more than me too! I ordered the lunch special orange chicken with hot & sour soup. It was great. My only qualms with the food are the mini chunks of orange rind that are scattered about. I know you can eat orange rinds, but for me it's a bitter, odd textured nightmare. BUT, on the bright side at least I know they're using real oranges in their orange chicken! It's not made with some gelatinous orange-favored sauce that tastes like melted down orange slice candies. Ordered delivery, the food arrived very hot. The hot and sour soup was just ok. The veggie roll that came with the dinner combo was alot of cabbage and a few carrots. The general tso chicken had little to no chicken in the batter. The few pieces that had chicken in them, the chicken was more like chicken jerky. The peas in the fried rice were hard like they may have been dehydrated and not rehydrated before being added to the fried rice. The menu here is your standard Chinese take out place. I went in with some friends on a Sunday afternoon and we were the only ones dining in. The service was incredibly friendly and accommodating, but the food just didn't do it for us. While I enjoyed my hot & sour soup, my friend's egg drop soup was barely edible. The sweet & sour chicken was a little crispy for my taste enough so that I didn't even want to take home my leftovers. Another friend's lo mein was so sodium filled that she had to use the rice to compensate for it. Decided to try this Chinese restaurant after reading reviews on Yelp and I am sorry to say that I trusted those reviews thinking this was actually decent Chinese food. I was completely wrong! The restaurant was located in a strip mall along Galbraith road. While the interior looked modernized and revamped, there was pollen or leaves? from a bush outside the restaurant and the floors were covered in them. Not a single employee decided to clean it up! Looking at the menu, I was overwhelmed! SO many choices to choose from. I decided to order the Lemon Pepper Chicken with broccoli and carrots and a side of white rice. When the food was served, the chicken LOOKED good, but after the first bite, I immediately regretted choosing the Lemon Pepper Chicken. It was rubbery (same texture as calamari)! Surely, the cook did not serve me a plate of just breaded chicken... Nope! There was bits of shredded chicken in breaded crumbs. It felt like to be able to swallow a single piece of chicken, I needed to chew for 5 minutes to be able to swallow it. I will NOT be returning to this restaurant... What a HUGE let down! I have to admit, this review is not based just on the first time I ate at, or a single visit to the Imperial Wok, which is unusual for me. I had the opportunity to eat here once before, during their start-up week, I tend not to review a restaurant for the first week or two they are open, as they are either working out the kinks , and the missteps don't reflect what they are going to be, or they are plied with fresh food, new, happy employees, and that "opening week" joy, which often decays. Many times it's only after they have been around a while that their true colors show. I will speak of my first visit, as it is relevant in retrospect. I had a buy one, get one free coupon the first time here, so I certainly took advantage of it. The offer allowed was good on the $5.75 lunch special, offered from 10:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., every day, Monday through Sunday. For that price you get an entrée, fried rice (steamed on request), and either an eggroll, won ton soup, egg drop soup, or hot and sour soup. I chose the Curry Shrimp, steamed rice, and an eggroll; and as my BOGO entrée, the Green Bean with Chicken (I asked for that in Garlic Sauce, extra garlic), fried rice, and my personal Chinese favorite, Hot & Sour Soup. The Curry Shrimp was excellent. The Shrimp were nicely cooked, and not rubbery. They are on the smallish end, size-wise, compared to some local Chinese restaurants , but, they had an excellent curry flavor and nice crisp vegetables. The egg roll was good, light and crispy, although a bit bland. The steamed rice was, well, steamed rice. For my second pick, the green bean chicken (in extra garlicky garlic sauce), was - wow! I guess one should find out what the normal garlic sauce is like before asking for extra. They took my request to heart. Very, very garlicky. The chicken was excellent - white breast meat thinly sliced and tender - the green beans lightly sautéed and still crisp. And the telltale Hot & Sour Soup? Very good. There are two kinds of soup that I get when I order this - the sweet, and the savory. This is the latter. Nice and moderately thick, dark and aromatic, full of bamboo shoots, water chestnuts, tofu, mini-corn and other delectables, it scored pretty high on the "Greg's Hot & Sour Soup Scale." Moderately spicy and very nice. My recent trip got me the Hot & Spicy Shrimp, and more of that great H&S Soup. The shrimp are still, in my opinion, undersized, but they were surely Hot & Spicy. The sauce was interesting, slightly vinegary, more a southern-style hot sauce flavor than the Sriracha style heat Chinese cooking is known for. I put this as an 8 out of 10, on the heat scale. Moderate after burn, unusual for most spicy Chinese food, as they tend to tone it down for the American palette. I have only had one other dish that consistently rates high in heat, and that's the Kung Pao Chicken at a store in California. Those insidious little maroon hot peppers can kill if you're not careful! The veggies were finely diced onions and carrots, with a few peas sprinkled in for color. Both of these visits were take-out, and I must say they were beautifully packed plastic containers with tight fitting snap-on lids. Sauces are self-serve next to the free hot tea on a little stand in the dining room. You have to ask for chopsticks. The dining room is smallish, with about eight tables or so. It is minimally decorated in an obvious Chinese motif, and the place strikes you as very clean. There is a large cooler full of pop and a few other drinks that you can select from as you are ordering. Both times I have been there, the staff has been very pleasant. On my last visit, when I phoned in the order, I was told "5 to 10 minutes". When I walked in six minutes later, it was packed and waiting for me. Now that's fast. I like the place. And although not the closest Chinese restaurant to me (there are three closer), I would certainly go out of my way to drive the extra couple of minutes to come here. I would heartily recommend it, as it makes my "Inner Myagi" happy. read more
