A place to come back to. Friendly staff great food and very fresh ingredients. Clean and family friendly.

I ordered sesame chicken thru eat street, upon arrival the food was luke warm, had tipped over during transport and all sauce had left the styrofoam (not very sustainable) package and accumulated in the plastic bag. The crab Rangoon contained no crab but cream cheese and the portion was super small (except for the white rice which was in plenty proportions). Last time I ordered here read more

I ordered 4 lunch specials that come with soup and 2 appetizers to go. They stacked all the soup on top of each other and the lids melted through. I didn't notice until I picked up my paperbag full of food and everything fell out onto the floor of my car. The carpet is soaked in wonton soup. The food is good but they need to improve their containers. read more

Ordered delivery from Oriental Bistro tonight and loved it! Chicken fried rice was fantastic, by far now one of my top favorites! Prices are reasonable and delivery was timely, food still very hot when it arrived. We will definitely order again! read more

Their menu is incredibly robust. I'm not sure you can find a better value in Lawrence, or more authentic in Kansas.

I've eaten here 3 times, all super pleasant experience. They even have a authentic chinese menu. I'm not Chinese, but always down for awesome authentic Chinese dishes. The first time I order the cumin lamb. Best lamb dish I ever have. The meat is so tender and flavorful. Lately, my favorite has been the niu nan noodle soup. Delicious collagen for the skin. This is my favorite dish in Lawrence. The decoration and environment is very chill. The waiter is very attentive. read more

Sushi was good. I still can't find in Lawrence "the best sushi I had", but this one could be one of the best. I got it for take out and the girl in the front desk was not very happy to attend me also, the place looks very nice in the inside read more

The name made me suspicious. And too often when an establishment tries to cover too many bases it winds up being a jack of all trades, master of none. But everything I've had from Oriental Bistro has been very good, and many dishes (chicken with orange flavor is a favorite) have been excellent. Service is good. Delivery is unusually prompt. O.B. is a place one can go and truly sample a variety of Asian cuisines and rely on the quality of the food and presentation. read more

These dish reviews are for delivery orders. :-) Food from Oriental Bistro is either perfect or horrifying. I've learned what to order from experience - the pad thai is awful, but the Thai red curry with basil is absolutely outstanding; the coconut curry is outstanding; the pineapple rice is awful. There's no middle with the food - it's great or it's bad, but it's never mediocre. I also highly recommend their gyoza. Ommm nom nom nom. "Wellbeing eggplant." Get some. Rich, sweet, spicy eggplant over their delicious rice. So, so good. EDIT: the last time I ordered this in Jan 2014 it was freaking awful. Very sad. Hopefully whoever usually makes it was just on vacation. [[[[The most important thing to know about Oriental Bistro is that they make Taiwanese beef noodle soup. If you're ever feeling down, tired, sick, or just in need of some nourishing, this is the thing to order. They make it with oxtail and it is incredibly rich and beautifully seasoned and flavored with lots of bok choy. The broth could bring a dead man back to life, it is that good. You eat a spoonful and it's nearly cartoony how quickly it just makes you feel BETTER. Like, your vision seems suddenly clearer and sharper, your mind clarifies, your cheeks feel a little pinker, your tummy feels loved.]]]]] The egg noodles come on the side to stay firm, and you can add as much noodle as you like to your soup. The soup is about $12 but will easily feed two, or just you for two meals. Because the meat is mostly oxtail, many Americans (unless they're Hawaiian or Asian-American) might recoil from the presence of the bone and fat. I get that. I actually pick all my oxtail pieces and meat out of the soup, let it cool, trim it, and add it back to the soup. Because I'm a weenie. It's worth the effort. You can't make soup broth this good at home unless you have a LOT of free time. The times I've had it, it seemed like the kind of broth that has been enriched and added to and deepened and boiled off and skimmed (it is beautifully clear but it shows none of the signs of being commercial - not salty, not bland, not metallic, not waxy - it must be homemade or at least mostly homemade) all week. The person or people responsible for this broth put a lot of love into it. Nothing less could make a dish so profoundly nourishing. read more

This restaurant replaced my favorite Mongolian BBQ place in Lawrence, so I was reluctant to try it. I have been twice for lunch and the service is very friendly, if a little slow. This could be due to the amazing lunch deals that Oriental Bistro Offers. For around $7 you get a choice of an entree, a soup, an egg roll or Crab Rangoon, and some tempura. They also have 1/2 price appetizers everyday from 11 am-5pm, so you can get a ton of food for a very reasonable price. I ordered the Red Curry--it is nice with red peppers, white chicken meat and coconut milk, but not at all spicy (even though it was noted with a pepper as spicy on the menu). If you like spice, you might ask for them to turn it up a little. The pork dumplings were very good, as was the egg drop soup and the tempura that come with the meal. On a past visit I ordered the chicken and broccoli, which I felt was little too sweet and the sauce was a little thick and over abundant; even with it being over sauced, the obviously fresh veggies and white meat chicken made it edible. The atmosphere is nice...and you can count on Rich to make your visit special. I would recommend it for lunch...if you have some time. read more

Wow this place is divine! Ordered red curry and the sauce was creamy and rich! The eggplant wellbeing is delicious as well. Very excited to have discovered a tasty fusion restaurant in town. I was going elsewhere (China house) and now I realize I how much I was missing out! This is going to be problem ha ha. Update: I ordered dinner from there in the same day. Got the red curry again, and tried the black pepper beef. Just wow. I'm in love. read more

Oriental Bistro is one of the few asian food places that has tamago (egg) sushi, and one of even fewer that has GOOD tamago. Not at all dry, a tiny hint of sweetness, tangy rice, made fresh. I'm a huge fan of tempura vegetables and they're exceptionally good from here. Always fresh, light batter, and they come with a really tasty brown sauce that I love but have yet to identify. I also highly recommend the yaki-udon, best Japanese noodles I've ever had. I usually order delivery from here, it takes almost an hour but it's so worth it. The few times I've eaten at the restaurant, the staff is polite and friendly to the point I kind of wonder if they're androids (if so, they're really good androids and I'm impressed). The restaurant feels very upscale and there are always groups of Chinese students eating here which is the hallmark of a good asian restaurant in Lawrence. read more

The thia basil chicken pot, pho, and Taiwanese beef bok choy soup are all must-haves! This is my new favorite place for a special occasion meal! I was also pleasingly surprised by how good the dirty martini was! All I can say is yum! Try the Chinese menu. I've only touched the surface of what this place has to offer. read more

Great selection, great service, fresh food. I like all of variety of choices of cuisines to chose from.

This restaurant is soooo yummy!! The customer service is top tier and they're always so polite

Don't go there if you don't want to pay for shitty food. My friend ordered noodles that were awful and then paid 75% for them and when we asked to take it home because their friend would eat it they wouldn't even let us. the manager and waitress both sucked as well would NOT recommen. read more

This is prob the most authentic Asian food here in the mid-west. My family and I moved here from NJ/NY area about 4 years ago, and we know what good Asian food is like (Chinatown and Flushing). Not being able to find a good Asian restaurant really bothered us!. Finally Oriental Bistro opened up about 2 years go, we made it our weekly destination! Service is fast, place is clean, and the staffs are very friendly. Also, if you are daring and would like to try more Asian food that is not on the normal menu, ask for the Chinese menu. HOPE YOU ENJOY SPICY FOOD! a MUST TRY is the Green Tea Ice Cream! my son absolutely loves it read more

This restaurant is one of the best asian restaurants I have been to. They offered a huge selection of different ethnic foods(including authentic foods ) on their menu, which is what I can't find in other places. The price is very reasonable, there is foods you could get for under $10. I recommend to try out the may different variety of Bento box they have, it is a big plate consist of different foods depend on the option you choose. It give you a chance to taste different foods by spending one price. Also, their sushi is very delicious , it's not over price and it's made from good amount of delicious ingredients. read more

I've driven by this place so many times and wondered what it's like. After reading lots of positive yelp reviews, I decided it was time to see for myself. The exterior of the restaurant struck me as very Americanized; it worried me a little bit, but the inside is totally different. The interior is VERY clean and sophisticated. It's very classy and cozy. There are nice little touches of Asain decor throughout the restaurant; there was some Chinese pop playing in the background which was pretty cool! The menu has a lot of variety--anything from Chinese to Thai to Japanese to Korean and beyond. They have lots of food to choose from! (I will note that I didn't see tofu options on their menu--they can and will put tofu in any applicable dishes [noodles, stir fry, etc.]) I ordered the yakisoba with tofu and man...it's some good stuff. I've found that other restaurant's tofu is very bland and not cooked very well. Oriental Bistro's tofu was cooked and seasoned wonderfully--so much so that my mom, who has been very skeptical of tofu since the 80's, actually tried a piece and liked it. The portions are very generous so ask for a box! Our waiter was incredibly nice and attentive. My sister's fiancee was pretty sure that he was the owner--I didn't catch his name, but he definitely wanted our experience to be the very best it could be. It definitely was! The other waiters in the area seemed very nice, too. It was a very well-organized establishment overall. I'd like to see more of Oriental Bistro before bumping this place up to 5 stars--definitely try this place out for yourself sometime soon! read more

Tonight was the first time we have ordered from Oriental Bistro. Our family enjoys Oriental food but we have been very disappointed with service, quality of food and amount for your money in the past with other restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner tonight. I am happy to say that Oriental Bistro has gained a new customer. Thank you for the food. It was actually spicy and delicious, and that is hard to find. read more

This is the best Chinese food we've had in a while. They also offer Thai, Korean and Japanese cuisine on the menu. I had the Moo Goo Gai Pan, it seemed so fresh with excellent vegetables and sauce. My husband ordered the Orange Peel Beef and said the sauce was excellent. The service was great and everyone was very friendly. We will definitely be going back when in Lawrence again. read more

I love this place so much. It is my go to for all of Asian cravings. Service is great, Brian is my favorite since Wayne moved on and May, the owner, is such a hard worker and amazing person. Oriental Bistro has always felt like home for me. read more

Had Thai basil with fried rice lunch combo. Probably the best deal yet that I've found for lunch delivery. Food was excellent!

You know what, this place is solid. The atmosphere is nice, the service is equally as nice, and the food is great! You'll be seated by a host or hostess, and a waiter or waitress will come take your order. The inside of the restaurant has this perfect combination in my opinion of a dark, relaxing mood and yet at the same time facilitation for a lively group of friends or family. The service is very very nice. The only thing that I would complain about (and the reason for my one star removal) is that I've had a couple times where it takes a little too long for my waitress to return and check on me. If you can't tell, I'm a regular. The food. Now that is the best part. It's got your sesame chicken, your California rolls (sushi) - pretty much anything you are looking for if you are just a general consumer of Chinese food. New to my pallet, it even has an authentic Chinese food menu! So if you've got any Chinese internationals with you, they might surely enjoy something like that. Or you can ask about it for yourself too and I'm sure they would accommodate. Overall great. It's worth you going to check it out. read more

We go here so often the staff just clarify what my daughter wants before putting the order in, she gets the same thing every time, I like that staff know their customers that well! The food is delicious and doesn't taste anything like any other Chinese food in town, very unique General's Chicken....the sauce is to die for! read more

As a Chinese, I dined in this place with friends several times so far and I have to be honest, their food for dining in the store was fantastic and I strongly recommended! Be aware of the food you receive from delivery though. The reason I gave it 2 stars was that we ordered delivery and the experience was terrible tonight! Their delivery quality was not like this at all before. Firstly, we waited about 1.5 hours and then finally we were so starving and we called in to check. After another 30 minutes, the deliver guy showed up. But we found out that they messed up our order by giving us one wrong item. I was very disappointed, to be totally honest. And I don't plan to order delivery from them in the future. read more

I don't really like Chinese food but Jeremy does. This place has really grown on me. I always order the General Tsos Chicken. It's the sweetest sauce I've ever had and I like it. It's also not too spicy, just mild chillie flavor. Jeremy always has something different each time and has enjoyed it all. We also get egg rolls and gyoza as appetizers. I have to give it 5 stars for being best in the category. read more

This place was honestly a big disappointment. Worse than fast food. All the meat and shrimp was super rubbery with no flavor at all. The rice was hard and everything was sloppy. It's just a huge fried mess. Do not recommend at all. Also very damp inside, not fresh or clean. Wontons tasted like pure grease. read more

I came here during my stay in Lawrence due to my boyfriend's recommendation. Very nice place, calming atmosphere (they had the Disney piano collection playing!), and nice wait-staff. We arrived around lunch time, so we each ordered bentos. I got a bento box with fried chicken (I believe this was #8), accompanied with miso soup. Bret got a bento box with teriyaki chicken and egg drop soup. Both soups were delicious, and quickly brought to our table after we ordered. While we finished those, our bento boxes were brought out and there was a lot more food than we expected! The tempura vegetables were yummy, same with the gyozas. My fried chicken was very crispy and flavorful, but his teriyaki chicken was a little on the dry side. Both meals were very satisfying though, and we had a lot leftover. Our waiter came by to check on us periodically and even boxed the remainder of our food to go for us. read more

This restaurant is one of our regular favorites. If you are adventurous then ask for the "other" menu. The traditional menu is fabulous and has some Asian dishes that are truly amazing. If you're not feeling well and want some comforting soup- the Japanese ramen is jam packed with seafood and noodles in a spicy broth. One of my go-to faves is the bibimbap as it is a perfect blend of healthy flavorful veggies and tender beef. We also love the spicy wontons. The service is excellent and the restaurant is always clean and inviting. read more

These "noodles" in the house pan fried noodles are basically those super crispy noodles you see as a garnish on top of dishes or soups, but soaked in tons of their brown gravy-like sauce. You end up with spongy noodles at the bottom of a pile of difference meats and veggies. On top of that, I ordered only chicken in this dish and received three different kinds of proteins and a side of rice (which I hate and would never order). My husband ordered the Singapore noodles, which were okay, but not great. They added chicken to his order that was only supposed to have tofu. The crab rangoons were also stale. First and probably only time trying this place. read more

We ordered Sezschwan beef, they gave us us Beef & brocolli instead. We ordered Orange Chicken. It's supposed to be spicy. There was no flavor to it. The broccoli included in both entrees was not green, but yellow & very old looking. We also ordered the appetizer Skewered Chicken, but that was a sickly color. We ordered Hot & Sour soup. They failed to include ANY crunchies to put in it. It was the worst dinner we've gotten from there. We will be going to Red Pepper from now on. read more

AMAZING service! I have eaten food from here many times, but always delivery. This was my first time dining in and it did not disappoint. The food is still great, but the service takes it over the top. So many restaurants in Lawrence have slow, irrespoivse service...Not Oriental Bistro. Will be coming back to dine in again. read more

Adequate food. Slow delivery through service.

Oriental Bistro is one of my favorite places to get Asian Cuisine in Lawrence. They have a pretty extensive menu, are very polite and prompt, and the food is consistently fresh and hot! The sushi is very good, as well as their bulgogi and Chinese favorites (General Tso's, broccoli beef, sweet and sour chicken etc.) It's a place that I like to frequent when I want variety. I highly recommend this place to anyone! read more
