It should come as no surprise that Jasmin makes up 100% of the ethnic dining options in tiny Eudora--unless you consider frozen pizzas from the convenience store as ethnic. Tucked away on their tiny, cute little main street it's a decent choice for locals. The food isn't bad, but it isn't great. Trying to make a go of a restaurant of this nature in a small town isn't an easy venture. Serving two types of cuisines out of one kitchen complicates matters. We had the tacos and the special of the day for Chinese. Fresh ingredients had clearly been in preparation for some time and suffered as a result (wilted cilantro is not a pretty thing). Not exactly a memorable lunch unless you count having hot and sour soup and chips and salsa brought to the table at the same time. That elicited grins. I'll give them props on pricing. Both dishes were $4.95 for lunch and it was a *lot* of food. Some of the construction workers that came in looked mighty satisfied on their way out. Service was pleasant, the restaurant was clean and no other complaints. The ambiance is fairly sterile. Too bad they can't perk up the decor a bit--a large Chinese painting on one side of the room and Mexican knick-knacks on the other. Maybe some music? Hoping the locals support it. There are a lot of Mexican and Chinese choices less than ten minutes away in Lawrence so I hope Jasmin keeps working hard at their craft. Certainly a unique experience. read more

This place is awesome, I usually get the enchiladas Supremas and is usually two meals for me.

The fun concept, cozy environment, and really excellent service almost make up for the so-so quality of the food. But really, this is what it's supposed to be-- cheap, greasy, salty food. The Curry Chicken actually had a subtle seasoning that was unexpectedly delicious and the salsa was pretty good. Loved the non-stop flow of iced tea! I wish there were more merging of the two cuisines instead of either/or. What I'd like to see is a Chinese/Mexican Combo combo that really showcases the unique possibilities of this sweet place. read more

So we have lived here in Eudora for about 2 yrs and yesterday was our first time trying this place out. My neighbors gave it good reviews. We had a party of 6 so we ordered many things both Mexican and Chinese. I do not like to bash mom and pop type restaurants so I will be brief. Things to avoid: egg drop soup, egg rolls (they left huge amounts of oil on plates), fried rice, cashew chicken and free salsa and pork tacos. Things we enjoyed: Crabrangoon, sweet and sour chicken and our server was very pleasant. Hopefully this was just a bad day but we will not be returning. read more

Jasmin serves both Chinese and Mexican food, and that's something that, for the first ten times I heard about it, elicited a sarcastic roll of the eyes. Then I ate there and realised it's the best Chinese food in the Lawrence area. But wait; it's not that it's great Chinese food, it's just the best choice. Compared to the food I eat on a weekly basis in the Bay Area, it was terrible, but it was still better than all of the Chinese restaurants in Lawrence (ALL. I tried them ALL). Quite suitable for vegetarians, too. I wish I could say more for the Mexican side of the menu, but alas, I have been swayed by years and years of wonderful Mexican food in it's adopted homeland, California. The food was almost always soggy and the flavour lacked depth. But I could order a taco with my chow mein ! That in itself was thrilling to me, and almost made up for the long drives I would subsequently embark upon to find a real good burrito in KC. It's been more than two years since I've been here, but yesterday I found myself craving a taco and the tofu in garlic sauce (it might not be on the menu; I think I made it up) and OH, the Mexican Coca Cola ! Food was good and reasonably priced. We stopped by for a late afternoon takeout and were pleasantly surprised.

I got hot and sour soup, egg rolls and the chicken in spicy garlic sauce. The first two were yummy, but I need to remember to ask for no MSG- I got a headache after eating them. The chicken I ate for lunch the next day and it was decent but didn't strike me as particularly garlicky or spicy. I'd like to try the Mexican food here. I think it would be cool if this was a true fusion place, and that the Chinese and Mexican dishes overlapped a little more- they could be really creative here if they wanted to be! read more

Chinese - Mexican restaurant. Holy. Crap. Taters!! As soon as I heard about this place, I HAD TO GO! It will now be one of our go to places!! I loved it! 1. The place... It is in on Main Street in Eudora in a building that used to be a barber shop. From the outside, it does not look like a restaurant. 2. Their Staff... Their staff is helpful and knowledgeable. Our waitress had worked there for quite some time and she suggested items that we may like and explained how everything is made. FYI, they make each dish when you order it and will happily omit an ingredient or take the heat up or down for you. 3. The food... Appetizers: We ordered Crab Rangoon, Egg Rolls and Chips and Salsa. The chips and salsa were good, but honestly nothing to write home about, good but not fantastic. The Crab Rangoon. Oh my. It was perfection! Obviously handmade and not the frozen stuff you get from most places. The outside was crisp and chewy and the inside was lovely, warm and creamy. The Egg Rolls. HOLY HELL. Again, handmade (Every 3 days we found out from the waitress) and tasted like real food!! Most egg rolls, when taken apart, have a roll of unidentifiable log of what used to be food. No at Jasmine! These egg rolls are WONDERFUL!! I could have made a meal of egg rolls!! Order them. Dinner: We ordered Orange Chicken, General Tso's, Shrimp Noodles, Nachos and a Taco. First the Mexican food - Authentic Mexican, the meat is seasoned to perfection and the veggies are crisp. The chips and the taco shell are fresh (made there?) and yummy. I will warn you, they seem to be onion happy (onions on a lot of dishes). We don't care for onions in our family and they were happy to make our food without them. Now the Chinese - Hand made. Homemade. Fresh. NOT FROZEN!! Not swimming in sauce! The chicken is tender and crisp on the outside, the sauces are thick and tasty. Plus you get a little carrot flower! Now the Shrimp Noodles...these are going to be a definate favorite!! The taste was beyond any noodle dish I have ever had. The garlic, the brown sauce, the crisp cabbage, the mushrooms!! It was even better the next day for lunch!! Overall - Go. You will thank me later. This sounds like an odd combination, but honestly, they have got it together! YummO!! read more

I come every time I visit my cousin in Eudora. Chinese food isn't always my favorite - nor is Mexican. I've certainly had better of both but the food here is alright for a fusion restaurant. It is definitely the only restaurant worth a damn in Eudora. The main thing for me was the service. Last time I came several months ago there was a waitress that I found exceptionally attractive and helpful at suggesting what might be good based on the day. I plan to stop by for dinner tonight before I catch my flight back to Seattle tomorrow and I can't wait for some crab rangoons read more

For a Mexican/Chinese restaurant they do great (even though the concept is slightly different than just a usual Asian or mexican), the blended menu is refreshing. Busy Saturday night, appetizers came out reasonably quickly (crab rangoons excellent, dumplings pretty good). Bit of a delay getting dinner but we were not in a hurry, so not a problem. Waitress brought us chips and salsa to munch while waiting, and they were awesome. Think I'll try the mexican side of menu next time. Orange chicken was ok, walnut shrimp was great. Worth A Trip To Eudora Jasmin is a unique place to say the least. They serve both Mexican AND Chinese food. While the decor and service are anything buy fancy, neither are the prices. But the menu? WHOA! The Chinese menu is as long as your arm and full of great stuff. They have no problem with special orders either though. While the Mexican food is nothing to write home about, if you have kids like mine who don't have a taste for Chinese it gives them choices like tacos and nachos. Vegetarian? You can get pretty much anything on the menu with tofu cooked to perfection. (Yes, they do have tofu w/garlic sauce.) If you live in Lawrence, this place is definitely worth the 15-minute trip for dinner. read more

I wouldn't say the food is stellar - but I love the concept, and you certainly get your money's worth. The prices here are really great - most of the things on the menu you are under $5, and you get a fair portion of food. We had the spicy Asian wings, guacamole, 8 Treasure chicken, and quesadilla relleno. We each paid about $10, and took plenty of food home. I received an soup with my chicken, and picked the egg drop. I haven't had this soup since I was little, so hard for me to compare to others, but it seems a little thick and a little brighter yellow than I recall, but tasted decently well. Guacamole was pretty good, and the Asian wings were a little gooey (in sort of an artificial way), but were also good. The quesadilla relleno was pretty tasty, and I loved all the vegetables in my 8 treasure chicken, though the rice tasted a bit too much a black pepper. The interior is not amazing, and is fairly small, but there is a very lovely dragon mural on one side. And Mexican decor on the other :) read more

I love this place! If you have never tried the hot and sour soup ... Try it even if you don't like it anywhere else. For those of you who like mexican the chilliqueles are great along with the quesidilla rellena. You can't come to this place and expect it to taste like the buffets in lawrence J. or Maria makes your order when you order. The chicken is all cut down by hand and if you want something specific, all you have to do is ask. Like spicy food? ask they'll make it hot! don't like onions? Out they go! This place is a hidden gem! My friends and I came up to Eudora/Lawrence from KC to check out some wineries and started our day at Jasmin's. The menu is massive with everything you'd ever want from Mexican and Chinese food. The crab rangoon is delicious, we also got guacamole to start and dipped the crab rangoon into the guacamole, don't knock it till you try it! I got the combination lo mein as an entree and a tostata on the side since how often do you get to have both at the same time? Both were really good. My only dislike was the salsa, tasted close to marinara sauce it just wasn't my thing. The service was awesome, she was very attentive with asking if we needed anything and refilling our waters. As someone in the food & beverage industry I always appreciate a server who goes the extra mile. I would recommend this place for sure. read more

Very good Mexican and Chinese food for a small Kansas town, and under one roof! Come with an open mind as both menus are tempting. I've had the chicken mole several times and it's about the best I've had. Tonight my wife had pineapple chicken and really enjoyed it. Service was slow, took nearly 20 minutes after being seated to have our order taken, then a further half hour + to get our food. I had to have mine packaged up so I could go back to work (after already scheduling an additional half hour for my lunch), only to be twenty five minutes late back to work.
