Great prices and quality of food! Highly impressed with their fried tacos, queso, and beans and rice. Loved being able to pick up through the drive thru!

We ordered the surf and turf burrito and super fries. This place did not disappoint. We did an online pick up order and it was ready within 12-15 mins. Customer service was fast and friendly. I was greeted upon arrival and I absolutely love their hot sauce! It's clean and spacious inside the restaurant. I took one bite of my burrito and probably inhaled the rest lol best surf and turf burrito we've ever had. Generous portion for the super fries. Reasonable prices. They were both delicious! If you're looking for some Mexican flavor, this is it. We'll definitely be back!

This small hole in the wall Mexican establishment may not look like much for good but has the best breakfast burritos. We haven't tried anything else here but these are the best. They are bigger than a chipotle burrito - cost a tad more (I'm sure that is because they don't get many customers and have to pay rent.... Either way - hands down the best I've had since California; 22 years ago. Also - these things are piping hits

Straight out of Omaha, this is the most refreshing take on Mexican food that I've been to in a while. My buddy that goes on culinary expeditions with me called and said we need to hit this place. At first I thought that it was fast food, but I looked it up on the net and it turns out to be pretty authentic, just scaled up in order to get their brand out there. We hit the Shawnee location, which was clean and well appointed. The staff is friendly and it's nothing like Taco Bell, as the decor is warmer and more inviting. The place was pretty busy considering that it was between lunch and dinner. My food was ready within a few minutes of ordering and after grabbing some goodies from the condiment bar, I headed hurriedly back to my table to engorge myself on my newfound culinary delight. The burrito, the tacos, the nachos, it was all so good. I tried asking my buddy what he thought of his, but he was elbow deep in his food and all I heard was the occasional grunt and "Nom, nom ,nom". We are taking some friends back next week, so it's safe to say that we are already in love with the food. One suggestion would be to look up the menu before you head over there. It was kind of hard to figure out what the best thing was to order or what combos made more sense. That was literally the only thing that I could find wrong. Also, they have not only Mexican Coke, but also Jarritos, real fruit drinks, and horchata for these cold winter days. Take the time and check these folks out....you'll thank me.

I liked the extensive menu, the daily specials and the great service at this new location during my dine-in lunch visit. My five tacos ($5.99 Tuesday special) came with choice of shell and choice of meat. My order was ready just two minutes after I ordered at the counter, where the service was cheerful and efficient. The tacos were nicely sized with crispy shells and very generous amounts of moist, tasty chicken - nice! I liked the toppings bar, which offered four salsas, limes, radishes, pico de gallo and pickled carrots, but the salsas were not labeled with heat levels. Their menu included tacos, tortas, combo plates, burritos, nachos, taquitos, quesadillas, rice bowls, all-day breakfast and meals for the kiddos. I noticed a clean and nice dining area with a mix of booths and tables and one TV inside and a drive-thru outside. Very nice!

You got to watch them...service quick... food NoT YOURS! The menu outside doesn't match the menu inside. Do Not Order online!!!!! You've been warned. But I finally received my Burria Tacos... and they tasted...once you receive what you ordered it can and does taste fabulous....it was good. Will I return probably NOT every thing up behind the woods is mediocre...you will be fine if you never find it.

My brother and I decided to try this place out, since he said he get a lot of Uber eats orders from here. Needless to say, I was disappointed with my experience. The rundown: Customer service was decent. The food was nice size portions, but lacked flavor. I had the fajita quesadilla, the chicken was bland, the veggies was inconsistently chopped, and it was like a weird sweet taste in it. I don't think salsa could've save it. The rice was bad as well. It wasn't properly cooked. The best thing I had was the Jamaica, it was decent. I probably wouldn't eat here again. It reminds me of poncho's or Taco Bell. Maybe it taste better when you had a few drinks.

got the quesabirria tacos! very flavorful consommé, tacos were packed full of meat and veggies. had a little condiment bar with a good assortment of salsas. a lot of different things on the menu from breakfast to dinner. i was so full but was going to get one of the funnel cakes definitely will be back! they are open late and have a lot to offer!

Chorizo egg breakfast burrito. It's huge!

A new restaurant in the old Taco Bell building. WOW, what an upgrade here. This place is awesome in every aspect. Nice remodel and use of space. It is a walk-up counter order for inside sitting. They also utilize app ordering and drive up so you can get a delicious fresh Mexican meal to go and never leave your car. Nice bonus. I stopped in before a long day for a breakfast burrito. I never imagined that I would have a breakfast and late lunch from one burrito. So first thought was $12.13 after tax was a bit pricey for a breakfast burrito, to be honest. However, I was wrong this burrito can easily feed 2 people. And I will dare you to find a better tasting more full chorizo, egg, potato, and cheese burrito for the price. Another plus is the fresh made salsa bar. I am a sucker for good salsa. They have 5ish salsas, Pico, radishes sliced, and the jalapeño carrot medley on the bar that is refrigerated. Togo cups and lids located right next to it is so inviting to sample them all. This is why I will likely never see the drive thru myself. I like to relive my love of suicide pop after baseball games by playing the same game at a self-serve salsa bar! LOL You need to check this place out super tasty and fresh with great portions. Thanks for coming to Western Shawnee Abelardo's I did not realize I was missing you in my life.

A Hidden Gem Worth Finding…read more The day after the World Cup Final, we needed to find a place for lunch near our Airbnb. Sometimes those unplanned stops turn into the best discoveries, and that's exactly what happened at The Glass Cat. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by Berkley, our server. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and made us feel right at home. She knew the menu well and wasn't shy about making recommendations, which always earns extra points in my book. She told us The Glass Cat is known for their biscuits. I laughed and admitted, "I'm really not a biscuit guy." She smiled and insisted I at least try a half order. Well... she was right that they were good, but I've officially confirmed I'm still just not a biscuit guy. Nothing against theirs--I think I'm simply impossible to impress when it comes to biscuits! Since I'm familiar with this part of the country, I couldn't pass up the Tenderloin Sandwich. It wasn't exactly like the classic pork tenderloin sandwiches I've had elsewhere, but it was absolutely delicious. The pork was tender, the toppings were fresh, and the fries were cooked exactly the way I like them--golden brown with a nice crisp on the outside. At Berkley's recommendation, my wife ordered the Egg, Cheese & Bacon Biscuit with hash browns. She wasn't kidding about the bacon--it was thick, smoky, and full of flavor. I stole a bite (as good husbands do), and it was a really tasty breakfast sandwich. The hash browns were another highlight--crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked. While we ate, we soaked in the local atmosphere. It was fun listening to everyone engage in a conversation. My wife and I discussed making our plans for the day and return trip for tomorrow. We made a quick stop at the nearby Price Chopper to grab a few things for the Airbnb. The Glass Cat Cafe may be a little off the beaten path, but that's often where you find the best local restaurants. Good food, generous portions, outstanding service, and a relaxed hometown vibe made this a memorable stop. I'd absolutely come back the next time I'm in the area. Chef T's Scorecard: * Food: 9/10 * ‍ Service: 10/10 (Thanks, Berkley!) * Value: 9/10 * Atmosphere: 8.5/10 Overall: Sometimes the best meals aren't found where everyone else is eating--they're found where the locals are. The Glass Cat Cafe is one of those places.

We ordered the country fried chicken with hash browns and the pumpkin pancakes, and every single thing on my plate was incredible. The hash browns were crispy perfection, the country fried chicken was flavorful and comforting, and the pumpkin pancakes were honestly some of the best I've had in a very long time. They were perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and just the right amount of sweet and pumpkin. On top of the amazing food, the service was fantastic. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. If you're looking for a great local breakfast spot, don't let the small hole in the wall appearance fool you. this place is absolutely worth the visit, we'll definitely be back!

It's a lovely restaurant. It seems a bit out of the way with mostly corporate buildings around. The restaurant has a nice modern aesthetic. I like the purple hyacinths hanging from the ceiling in one area. It was very steady for an off time in the afternoon. First, our server Olivia was amazing! Very attentive and we were extra needy this day so I really appreciate her patience. We even dropped food on the floor. Oops! She was so nice about it and cleaned it up immediately. We had customizations and extra requests. No problem for her! She went above and beyond. I hope she sees this because she was such a joy! The food was also very good. We started with the biscuits and one peach compote and one blueberry. Both were yummy. They were traditional drop biscuits and I love a good biscuit! We also had an order of fried green tomatoes on goat cheese grits. You get 4 very large slices. I could only eat one. The grits were yummy but there were not enough of them in relation to the friend green tomatoes. They were also encased by a sauce. I'm guessing a remoulade. I don't really care for remoulade sauce so I'd have removed it had I known it came with the dish. It really overpowered the goat cheese taste in the grits. The tomatoes were very al dente and I would have preferred them cooked a bit more. The dish was still good but my least favorite and I would normally love anything with those ingredients and fried green tomatoes are a favorite so the remoulade (or whatever it was) sauce was a real problem for me. I would definitely get them again without the sauce because they are great otherwise. But that sauce just overpowers every other flavor! I got the chicken tender dinner and others in my party got the bone in fried chicken. Everyone liked their chicken. The tenders were a big size. 4 of them but I hit 2 meals out of them. Everyone liked the Parmesan rosemary potatoes. I really liked the bacon green beans. The only side we weren't impressed with was the Mac and cheese unfortunately. The cheese was not good. We got coffees and a chai. All of them were very good. A bit pricey for the amount you get though. Even with the smaller complaints, I'd still give th a 5 because of the outstanding service and the dishes were overall very good and large portions. We will definitely return and I hope to try out a breakfast item next visit!

The menu is large but easy to navigate, and the prices felt pretty average for the area. I ordered the avocado toast ($12.99), and it was bigger than expected--in a good way. The bread was perfectly toasted and piled high with avocado, thick slices of mozzarella, tomatoes, and a nice drizzle of balsamic. It also came with two eggs and a choice of side; I went with the fresh fruit, which was a great complement. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. The only drawback was the limited staff. Our waiter was fantastic, but he was clearly stretched thin--handling seating, bar duties, takeout orders, and multiple tables all at once. It was a bit much for one person and did lead to longer wait times across the board. Hopefully, this was just a one-off situation, because the food and service quality were definitely there. I'd absolutely come back again.

We hit the club for brunch with a group, and while the ambiance was pure "Country Club Chic," the execution was a bit more "Sunday Morning Sand Trap." The Liquid Courage I started off my round with two drinks. the Bloody Mary. It was fine--tasty enough, but it certainly didn't change my life or inspire any poetry. However, things got interesting with their Tequila/Cold Brew/Liquor 43 concoction. Topped with an egg foam cap, it was actually pretty solid. A bit of a gamble, but sometimes you have to roll the dice when the menu is trying that hard. The Culinary "Hit and Miss" Then came the food, or as I like to call it: The Great Consistency Crisis. The Steak: I asked for medium-rare; I received medium-well with a "char" that felt more like a personal vendetta against the cow. The Potatoes: Apparently, potato portions are determined by a lottery system. I received about half the amount of the person next to me. Maybe I didn't look hungry enough? The Eggs: My over-easy eggs had crispy, hard edges and arrived at a temperature I'd describe as "lukewarm at best." We also had to hunt down salt and pepper like we were on a scavenger hunt. Honestly, I probably should have just hit the buffet and cut out the middleman. The Service Our server was perfectly nice, but he appeared to be roughly twelve years old. Since he wasn't legally old enough to understand the complexity of a craft cocktail, he couldn't give us any info on the drink menu. We just had to "go with our gut"--which is a dangerous game when tequila and cold brew are involved. The Verdict I'm not saying I won't be back, but consider this a fair warning: if Round 2 involves another charred steak and a side of "room temperature" eggs, I'll be sending it back for a rerun faster than a shanked drive into the woods. 3/5 Stars -- Great for people-watching, questionable for potato-equity.
