I liked my burrito! I got the number four special with chicken. Good flavor. Next time I will skip the mild salsa, I thought it was bland, but I liked the other salsas. I opted to dine-in to reduce the waste of take-out, but my meal was still pretty wasteful- my burrito came wrapped in foil served in a plastic (reusable) basket with a sheet of wax paper... and she gave me 2 to-go containers of salsa. But when I sat down to eat, I noticed that other diners had real plates, with squeeze bottles of salsa already at the tables... I'm not sure why my burrito wasn't on a plate, smothered in cheese, with reusable salsa bottles ready to go- it looked like only half the tables even had salsa bottles. Also their water cups were single use plastic and so were their eating utensils. I would give back a star if they up their sustainability game but they generate a LOT of unnecessary waste. read more

I enjoyed the large, tasty burrito and the cheerful, helpful, first-rate service during my dine-in lunch visit at this new restaurant, but there was room for improvement. The smothered burrito ($12.00) was ready just five minutes after I ordered at the counter. The 7" long burrito was filled with generous amounts of rice and beans with a fair amount of chicken. It came with a good number of tortilla chips, a choice of two salsas (mild or hot) and silverware. Crispier tortilla chips, more meat on the burritos and a hotter salsa option would be nice additions. I found the dining area to be spacious, clean and new with one TV tuned to a Mexican music channel for background music. Their menu included breakfast, appetizers, burritos, platters and quesadillas. They also offered a Coke dispenser, but no iced teas. Overall, I'm thinking 3.5 stars and rounding up for the great service. read more

Whoa! We happened across this restaurant for an early dinner. We had a chicken and a steak burrito #3 and #4. They were so flavorful and delicious! So much better than Chipotle for a quick burrito. The crisp tortilla chips included in the bag were an excellent addition. I'm so glad we found this place. We will definitely be back. The staff was so pleasant! The restaurant was spotless! They have a large menu with a ton of options. You order at a walk up window and then take your seat. It took a little while, but their burritos are huge and extravagant. I did enjoy it. read more

I went to this new spot with my parents. It's very close to where they live so they were really interested to try it. We went around 5:30 on a Tuesday. Now, that I remember that it was Tuesday, and not Wednesday when I normally do dinner with my parents, I understand why it was so busy ::facepalm:: First impression was it's quite a sterile space. It could definitely do with any decor. It is an order at the counter place so I can forgive that, but don't go expecting a full-service experience. It took a while to figure out my order because the menu is long and posted on the TVs above the order window, but there are so many options that they have to keep changing the menu screens, and there's so much on there that I couldn't really internalize what was on the screen and had to wait for the menus to cycle again to confirm what I wanted. There was a single hard copy menu sheet at the counter. I'd definitely recommend printing up like 20 laminated menus and leaving them at the counter, so people can get a look at everything at once. Frankly, a lot of the burritos seemed to be nearly the same except one might have shrimp and/or jalapeños in it. So I think they could maybe abbreviate to like 3-4 basic burritos with optional add-ons so the menu is less overwhelming. Anyway, the lady at the counter was very nice. I ordered the #5 with steak, my mom got the #4 with chicken and my dad got the plato El Gordo. As mentioned in other reviews, they do not serve iced tea here. Though the do serve coffee all day, which I'm sure is nice for coffee drinkers but kind of odd. Since it was taco Tuesday, it took maybe 10 mins for our food to come out. We all enjoyed our food. It does taste like a super fresh chipotle. I know that's chipotle's gimmick but this felt homemade in the right way. I wouldn't say it knocked my socks off but I'd definitely go back, especially if I lived nearby. One other note/suggestion: provide additional bussing space. Apparently people in Shawnee are animals (I'm from Shawnee so I know of what I speak) and don't know how to clear off their plates when they are done and drop them on top of the trash can. I think putting a tub for dirty dishes on the trash can would maybe encourage people to help bus their food. It was bizarre. Not the restaurant's fault but seeing a pile of dirty dishes on the trash can looked kinda gross. read more

We really liked the carne asada and also the green chili chicken enchiladas. It's a small place but the staff were very friendly.

This is a fairly new restaurant in the area. The burritos are large so be prepared. The food is good. There's a large menu . They have some specials & side items that aren't on the menu too. You'll wait about 10 minutes if you want a to-go order. The decor is simple but clean. FYI-they charge a credit card fee when you use one. So bring cash if you don't want to pay that fee. Could definitely improve on the amount of seasoning used, the street tacos were very dry and steak wasn't prepared very well.

First, to be fair, we arrived 30 mins. before closing, the place was empty and the woman in the front was mopping the dining room floor. She seemed annoyed at our timing and was not at all cordial. Foodwise, we were expecting something on par with or better than Chipotle. The burritos we ordered were okay but nothing that would bring us back. Like a lot of places, you wouldn't choose it but you wouldn't object going if invited. Very basic ingredients and very mild flavors. Portion size was filling so you won't go away hungry. read more

The smothered chicken burrito is lovely with a bit of kick. The steak on quesadilla is okay, but the cheese is awesome. The street tacos are delicious, so says the pickiest eater in the group. The order taker was very nice. It's at the end of a strip mall in front of a Walmart. The prices reflect the quality of the food, not the location. The restaurant is clean and furniture is new. My new go to! A bunch of us in Western Shawnee have been looking forward to Champion Burrito opening up for a while now, and my wife and I finally got to try it yesterday. She had two street tacos (steak and pastor - also great to see gluten free options for her) and I had the El Campeon burrito. Both plates came with some chips as a side. My burrito was amazing. Steak, shrimp, fried potatoes, cheese, pico, avocado, and chipotle sauce. My mouth is watering as I type this.... Service was helpful and friendly. While not exactly cheap, it was so good, I felt we got our money's worth. read more

We stopped in for a quick dinner. Hot. Fresh and tasty. 3 sauces to choose from. We ordered the smothered burrito with chicken and the retador with chicken and shrimp. Yum! One suggestion. Passed by this ace earlier today. My 4 year old and I were hungry so stopped by as I love Mexican food and am very picky. This place was great and authentic food! So happy to have a place like this down the street as now I don't have to drive to KCK to get good Mexican food. The staff were very friendly and the food was reasonably priced. When you first walk in the you can feel the culture of a classic hispanic restaurant. Nice small sized restaurant and very clean as well. They also have a TV playing 2000s movies too. The service is was good as well like a good classic number callout takeout place. Their main specialty are the burritos but they also offer a variety of options such as platters, tamales and other specialties. I got the special #6 burrito, the meat was seasoned very welll.
