    Smothered burrito?
    Candice S.

They have a large menu with a ton of options. You order at a walk up window and then take your seat. It took a little while, but their burritos are huge and extravagant. I did enjoy it.

I went to this new spot with my parents. It's very close to where they live so they were really interested to try it. We went around 5:30 on a Tuesday. Now, that I remember that it was Tuesday, and not Wednesday when I normally do dinner with my parents, I understand why it was so busy ::facepalm:: First impression was it's quite a sterile space. It could definitely do with any decor. It is an order at the counter place so I can forgive that, but don't go expecting a full-service experience. It took a while to figure out my order because the menu is long and posted on the TVs above the order window, but there are so many options that they have to keep changing the menu screens, and there's so much on there that I couldn't really internalize what was on the screen and had to wait for the menus to cycle again to confirm what I wanted. There was a single hard copy menu sheet at the counter. I'd definitely recommend printing up like 20 laminated menus and leaving them at the counter, so people can get a look at everything at once. Frankly, a lot of the burritos seemed to be nearly the same except one might have shrimp and/or jalapeños in it. So I think they could maybe abbreviate to like 3-4 basic burritos with optional add-ons so the menu is less overwhelming. Anyway, the lady at the counter was very nice. I ordered the #5 with steak, my mom got the #4 with chicken and my dad got the plato El Gordo. As mentioned in other reviews, they do not serve iced tea here. Though the do serve coffee all day, which I'm sure is nice for coffee drinkers but kind of odd. Since it was taco Tuesday, it took maybe 10 mins for our food to come out. We all enjoyed our food. It does taste like a super fresh chipotle. I know that's chipotle's gimmick but this felt homemade in the right way. I wouldn't say it knocked my socks off but I'd definitely go back, especially if I lived nearby. One other note/suggestion: provide additional bussing space. Apparently people in Shawnee are animals (I'm from Shawnee so I know of what I speak) and don't know how to clear off their plates when they are done and drop them on top of the trash can. I think putting a tub for dirty dishes on the trash can would maybe encourage people to help bus their food. It was bizarre. Not the restaurant's fault but seeing a pile of dirty dishes on the trash can looked kinda gross.

The food was fresh and delicious you will get your money worth. Service was great the owner/ cashier was very friendly and helpful for out of towers. The ambience was nice and quiet. I definitely recommend and come back if and when I return to Kansas

Been wanting to try this place out for awhile now and finally got to the place. Had their bacon & potato burrito and I added chorizo. It was delicious! I will definitely go back!

We really liked the carne asada and also the green chili chicken enchiladas. It's a small place but the staff were very friendly.

Could definitely improve on the amount of seasoning used, the street tacos were very dry and steak wasn't prepared very well.

Burrito tasted like I cooked it up in my kitchen drunk with a store bought rubbery tortilla. Decent if you also like Taco Bell.

I've stopped in several times and keep coming back for the No. 20. It's incredibly filling and almost always leaves me with leftovers to take home (which I consider a win). Every meal has been consistently good--I haven't had a disappointing bite yet. The restaurant itself is clean and comfortable, with plenty of tables and booths. The staff is friendly and happy to help you navigate the menu if you need a little guidance. Reliable, tasty, and easy--this place is definitely worth adding to your regular rotation

Walking in you'll find it's a very bright, cheerful atmosphere, very clean, with about ten tables (I think), and two tv's playing Spanish music. The people are nice and very efficient. Chef Joseph is phenomenal. He was manning the register when I went in. I'd never been to a Mexican & Salvadoran restaurant before. I'm familiar with Mexican American food, a little bit with truly authentic Mexican, and not at all with Salvadoran. Chef Joseph came out from behind the counter and sat at my table explaining the menu to me, the dishes, the flavor profiles. He gave suggestions on what order based on what I told him I liked. I got one of the combo dishes mainly because it offered a variety of proteins and side dishes. I also saw several more items in the menu that I knew I wanted to try on my next visit. The food was delicious! I surprised myself by finishing the whole plate. I was also delighted to find La Cocina De Mary had atole. It's a traditional cold weather drink made with masa harina, milk, and spices. My tia made it when I was a kid, so there's fond memories. This one was better ... and lucky for me tia isn't on Yelp and will never read this. They have soft drinks and a few alcohol drinks that I may try next time. The one that's a bloody mary except with beer instead of vodka sounded interesting. Next time I go, I'm taking FPO with me. This is a great little place and I hope they're there for a long time to come.

We go on Taco Tuesday since most of the street tacos are $1.49 each. They have quite a few proteins to choose from and a few more that aren't on the special price. The tamales are also delicious and very reasonably priced at less than $2 each. They have puerco rojo and pollo verde. I've tried both and love both! There's also a market and in the back is a large meat market. I grabbed some Pastor to cook at home last time I visited. The only negative I have is that as a small business, they run out of certain foods so you need to be ready to change your order if you go later in the day and it's a market so the ambiance of eating there is not anything special but I many folks just get it to go. Otherwise, I really love Mi Pueblito and think it's a gem many people don't take advantage of in JoCo.
