Came in on a Sunday for a breakfast burrito and we were very happy with our choice. It was delicious!

Beef Barbacoa

Stopped for dinner. Noticed the dining room was almost empty and a little dingy. The chips and salsa was ok, stale chips, not warm. The service was great and my order of Barbacoa arrived in under 10 minutes. The food was hot and tasted good. The beef was shredded and tasted like slightly spicy pot roast. The corn tortillas were house made. Rice and beans were average. Overall the pros outweigh the cons.

I try to make it over here a few times a month. everything here is as good as it gets. now with this cold weather the soups are a must have. tons of flavor and everything is homemade and very fresh. down to the corn tortilla, i think they make them fresh to order. i would give this place 6 stars if available.

Love the authenticity of this place. The staff is so sweet. I will say, I find their chicken to be dry generally, but anything beef is top notch. My daughter will drink the salsa.

Chicken and Steak Tacos plus one tamale

Excellent food and super friendly service. The restaurant was very clean and bright. I ordered 2 tacos and a tamale and it was ready in less than 10 minutes. Perfect for people with a short lunch. They also include free chips and salsa. I'll definitely be back to try the get of the menu. Another great Mexican option in Olathe!

The service is very friendly but the baby size food servings were shocking in size when most Mexican food restaurants give you regular size servings. There was minimal flavor as well.

Gorditas combo with one huevos con chorizo, and one javas con queso.

Since moving to the Kansas City area I have been having trouble finding both green chili, and authentic Mexicana chorizo and egg. With the gordita combo I was able to get both.

I've been here three times and every time the food has been amazing. Being from California this is one of the few places in the KC area that serves real Mexican food and not Tex mex. the El Dorado (regular hard tacos) are really good! The only thing I wish they had was soft drink options vs. just refrigerator bottles. Will definitely be back!!!

My first visit was a pleasure, with a warm smile at greeting, prompt ordering, and minimal wait time for my meal. I highly recommend.

It's been a while since I last dined here, and it definitely didn't disappoint!…read moreI jumped on their drink special--buy one premium margarita, get the second half off--which was an absolute steal. I started with the jalapeño margarita, but honestly downed it before I even remembered to take a photo. My second was easily my favorite: their masterfully crafted Mango Margarita which felt like a fiesta going down. For dinner, I ordered the Combo #4 (tamale, pork burrito, and crispy beef taco). They were kind enough to swap in a deep-fried taco for free, and since I'm a habitual chip-dipper, I happily doubled down on the refried beans to satiate my dipping cravings. One friend had the skirt steak and raved about how tender it was and how nicely it was plated. I was able to get a quick pic before it disappeared from his plate! One small quirk: they don't keep salt and pepper on the tables, so you'll need to ask for them. Our server also seemed a little eager to rush us out the door even though the restaurant wasn't very busy.(we weren't having any of that and me especially after two margaritas, haha), but overall, great food and standout margaritas make this an easy spot to revisit!

My two enchiladas combo ($12.49) included good portions of rice and beans. It was served just six minutes after I ordered at the counter. Usually, that would give me time to dig into complimentary chips and salsa, but the complimentary tortilla chips warmer was empty. Ugh! However, they did offer a complimentary salsa bar with five salsas with various heat levels to add to my entrée - nice! My meal offered plenty of moist, shredded chicken, creamy, refried beans and moist, tasty rice. The service at the counter was helpful and cheerful with two order kiosks also available. I found the dining area to be clean and nice with booths, two TVs (off) and lively Mexican music coming from the kitchen. They also offer a drive-thru. Overall, I'm thinking 3.5 stars (no chips - ugh!) and rounding up for the good value.

And I don't make multiple return visits to restaurants where I don't enjoy the food and the service. The restaurant is tucked away down what appears to be an industrial street where you wouldn't expect to find a sit-down restaurant. Because of this you won't accidentally discover it while you're out on a Saturday afternoon drive. I'm certain the location hurts their business as it has other failed restaurants that have occupied the same space in the past. But if you go to the trouble of finding it, you'll be happy you did. There are a few "Mexican" restaurants in this area of town, but this is a "Tex-Mex" restaurant, which I prefer. I won't go into describing each individual item on the menu, I'll just say the food is solid Tex-Mex. I lived in Houston and San Antonio for a total of 10 years, so I know what Tex-Mex is supposed to taste like. Chapala could definitely hold their own in South Texas. I think you should give it a try.

While many items were ok and overall portion sizes were good, it lacked seasoning, especially the quesadilla. It was simply a tortilla with an underwhelming amount of cheese. Didn't even taste like the tortilla was heated up with any butter. Very bland. The tacos we ordered were ok but the shells reminded me of that from a Taco Bell taco kit almost. Sadly a soft option or corn option was not offered to us. Even though we dined around 1230, the restaurant was empty. Only one other table was occupied with guests. The hostess was even eating while working which didn't make for a very welcoming ambiance.
