Mexican food & I go way back. Throw in a margarita, maybe some fresh chips and salsa, and I can be happy with just about anything off of the menu. Mi Ranchito is making it happen all over the metro and this location in Lenexa, even as tucked away as it is, delivers right on brand. The layout is a little bit cramped, but the service is fast and friendly, and the food is really good. The queso dip has always been one of their hooks, but it's the specials and the well-executed regulars that make it happen. The house margarita is a BIG drink, checking in at $9 and delivering well over that value. My wife loves their taco salad, a ginormous flour tortilla shell filled with a seasoned meat of your choice, guac & sour cream, and an array of crisp veggies. I love the cream cheese enchiladas, but I'm always up for an authentic off-menu special when it seems like someone's abuela is cooking in the back and you just know the food will be fabulous. It's always flavor on flavor and fresh on fresh, even when served on blazing hot plates. Prices are on par with the market, you can order online, but if you're coming in to dine, then know that parking is shared and it's cramped. But that doesn't water down your experience. Excellent value and great service! We 4 went to dinner on a week night and sat in their outdoor patio. It was a lovely evening, perhaps it would be even nicer if they added some plants to block the view of the roads. Our service was very friendly and efficient. Prices for dinner are about $12-15 on average and they give alot of food. The menu is huge with lots of great choices and combinations. We enjoyed our meals. My wife got the street tacos. Very tasty. Too full now. Kids menu is great. A soccer game plays on the televisions in the corners of the restaurant while Mexican music plays overhead. I tried this Mexican restaurant recently and it was real good. I did not care for the chips and salsa I feel they tasted not fresh but rest of meal was good. We sat outside and they have small patio area with shade. I ordered #2 Dos combinations which consisted of Pork Carnitas Burrito, Deep Fried Ground Beef Taco, Bean and Cheese Tostada. My husband and I picked up Mi Ranchito last night as our "cheat meal of the week." For an appetizer, we got the espinaca queso, which is white cheese dip with spinach and spices. The espinaca queso was TO DIE FOR!!! It was super gooey, rich, and with just the right amount of spice. The tortilla chips were not too thick, perfectly salted, and very crispy. There is NOTHING worse than stale, overly salty, and/or soggy tortilla chips for dipping. The dip came with red salsa, which was also delicious. Very chunky, not too watery and, like the queso, had the right amount of spice. For entrees, we both got the la costa chimichanga, which has roasted vegetables and shrimp and served with a broccoli cheese sauce, black beans, and Mexican rice. The chimichanga tasted super fresh, like it had just been fried. The roasted vegetables were perfectly cooked and the same goes for the shrimp. The broccoli cheese sauce could have been eaten as a soup, but was a perfect accompaniment to the chimichanga. The rice and beans were very delicious. The cheese dip came out to our table cold. My husband's and daughter's food came to the table cold. Usually the manager offers some sort of a discount but nothing. The salsa tasted like tomato sauce with just bits of cilantro. I had French fries instead of beans and rice and they weren't cooked all the way through but looked over cooked. All of the servers are extremely kind and attentive to their customers. it's the perfect size for a cozy family restaurant or a casual date night stop. It's not too loud, and the crowd that comes in is extremely respectful also! I continuously get the cream cheese, enchiladas. I never switch it up because they are so darn good! Nope. Not a place for me. I really wanted to like this place, especially because it came with recommendations and suggestions for our order. The good: The espinaca queso is pretty good! The green salsa that comes with the chips was also tasty. The chips are good, too. Not all tortilla chips are created equal but the chips here are above average. The rice is tasty. Our server was nice. The bad: The food, in general, isn't good. We tried the chicken taco salad and the cream cheese chicken enchiladas. The flour tortillas seem like those packaged kind that come from a grocery store bread aisle. They have a gummy texture and no flavor. We left most of our orders on our plates. The black beans that come with the enchiladas are not great either. The ugly: Truth be told, the smell of the restaurant was off-putting at the very start. They must have been having some plumbing problems because it smelled pretty darn bad, like old-gas-station-bathroom bad. We've driven past this restaurant many times and finally decided to stop in. What a mistake that was. My wife ordered a burrito and I ordered the carnitas dinner. The menu described the carnitas as gently fried. By the looks of them the carnitas Were so gently fried they were only shown the oil not cooked in it (see picture). They looked more boiled than fried. Maybe there wasn't any oil left for the carnitas after seeing the burrito. It was brought to our table swimming in oil. This review is for the Olathe location. I have been a customer for well over 10 years eating at many locations. I was turned on to the sale of chips and salsa for my weekly chiefs games. I have always paid 10.99 for a large bag of chips and and two small cups of red sauce and one small green sauce. Today at the Olathe restaurant I was told that sauce does not come with the chips and their would be a charge, I asked to speak to the manager and she told me she has been the manager for years and that sauce does not come with the chips. Mi Ranchito is the place to go! Came here on a Saturday night and my boyfriend and I were seated and served immediately. Our waiter was super helpful and friendly and assisted us with any questions we had about the menu. I had the Jalisco Chimichanga and it was delicious. The sauce that covered the chimichanga was mouth watering, and the guacamole was great. To top my meal off I ordered a frozen mango margarita, which was a perfect way end to my dining experience. A couple years ago we ate at a different location and enjoyed that lunch. Today we grabbed a late lunch at this location. Place was busy but we quickly got a table. The restrooms were ok. The salsa that came with the complimentary chips was superb. Love the fresh and thin chips. My adult daughter ordered the nachos appetizer with some modifications. It's a huge plate so she brought some home. Top notch. My sister got a chimichanga...never had one cut in half before...loved the creamy cheese on the side as it let her enjoy the crispy texture. My wife ordered the chicken cream cheese enchilada and while it was a large portion... She enjoyed every last bite. I had the Pork Verde....probably the best I've had in the KC area. My burrito del norte lunch ($8.75) was served 15 minutes after I ordered at the table, which gave me time to start on the generous amounts of complimentary chips (thin and crispy) and salsa (mild). The burrito was packed full of moist, tasty, white chicken with fajita vegetables, and covered with a tasty espinaca sauce. I liked that the plate included rice, beans, salad, and a small dessert (all delicious). I would not ever give this place one star, but I have to in order to write this review. Okay now for the review; to start things off we could not get in the door, because the Hostess seemed unable to manage a wait line. Once inside and seated we waited a solid 15 minutes to be acknowledged by our server. Then, it took another 15 minutes to get our drinks to the table. However; our drinks were visibly ready at the bar and our server was playing with her hair chatting with other wait staff. Eventually she dropped off our drinks and just walked away; I guess people are not supposed to order food at this restaurant. What topped of this disaster is the boorish individual next to us. This person seemed to think that the entire restaurant wanted to hear his conversation, as he had his phone on speaker with the volume turned all the way up. When asked to turn the volume down this rude person looked at us as if we were speaking gibberish and continued with the conversation. At this point we were done and when the server finally came back to take our order approximately 20 minutes later, we declined. Mind you, she did not say anything to the person beside us who was still having his ear-splitting conversation. Aside from all this, the salsa tasted like marinara sauce. I thought this was a Mexican restaurant not an Italian. My recommendation; stay as far away from This restaurant as possible. And instead got to the one in Olathe. We come all the time and never have a problem today was one of the worst experiences of my life, they forgot some of the order, we were mean mugged, and ignored, I had to wait almost 10-15mins for my chips, the server was nice and all but the service was not how it normally is. We were in town to visit family and the guy at the front desk of our hotel recommended we try Mi Ranchito. When we first pulled up we were a little confused as Mi Ranchito shares a building with a car detailing service, but we were hungry and had some time to kill so we decided to give it a go. The restaurant is small, and the tables are configured in an odd fashion but it was clean and did not have any unpleasant odor, in fact, the food smelled delicious. We ordered the two for $7 margarita special and they were a basic but tasty restaurant margarita. Not the best I have ever had, but definitely not the worst. The chips and salsa were delightful. The chips were hot and perfect for dipping and the salsa tasted fresh and had just enough heat. My husband ordered the taco special and chose chicken filling. They were very good and quite a deal at under $3 each. I ordered the chicken flautas lunch special. I wish I would have taken a photo (I was too hungry for that nonsense.) because they were thick and stuffed with chicken that was juicy and flavorful. The rice was moist and well seasoned and the beans were tasty as well. Our server and all staff we interacted with were helpful, knowledgeable, and very nice. I don't know what it is about Kansas restaurants adjacent to service stations. When I stopped here, the first thing I saw was the tire service shop, and on the corner, same building is Mi Ranchito's. I was immediately seated and bought salsa and chips. The salsa wasn't too hot, had a slight cilantro flavor and is possibly the best salsa I've had. The chips, light and delicious. I ordered the grilled shrimp chimichanga which was on special. I only found a couple of shrimp, but I would order it again. It came with a cheese sauce with broccoli. Also was included black beans and a minute scoop of rice. A corn fritter was to the side. I had excellent service and very good food. Couldn't find the coupon people are talking about. This is in an excellent location, just off I-35 before Bass Pro Shop at the next exit. Parking is probably sketchy, there isn't much of it. But I really enjoyed it and will be back.
