I really wanted to like Oscar's, especially after reading all the positive reviews on Yelp, but honestly, there was nothing authentic about it. This place felt more like a basic Tex-Mex spot than a true Mexican restaurant. To begin with , it doesn't showcase anything that match the more authentic Mexican spots in the area... no condiment or salsa bar, and the interior was just simple and didn't stand out. The food was okay at best, but the meat was poorly seasoned and was one dimensional. Overall, it just didn't feel like an authentic experience. The ambiance was fine, and while the tables were clean but not spotless. I'm giving three stars mainly for the friendly staff at the order kiosk, the robot server which was fun to watch and the somewhat fresh burrito (although the chips were stale). We ordered the salsa verde pork and carnitas burritos. The service was quick and we got our food in about five minutes. But the burrito was unimpressive. The rice was barely seasoned and overcooked, and the meat was sparse with just a few large chunks here and there. There was no sign of salsa verde in the pork burrito, and although the carnitas burrito was slightly better, both lacked refried beans and didn't taste authentic. The "hot" salsa wasn't spicy at all and the green avocado salsa tasted ok. Also, it's worth noting that the restaurant doesn't offer options like birria or al pastor, which nearby authentic spots usually have. Overall, I'd give them a 4/5 for the efforts taken but the overall experience was a 3/5 for me. I'll probably give it another try and hope it's better next time.

    Conveniently located in Olathe

An impromptu date night led us to this hidden gem. Craving some authentic Mexican food we walked into Oscar's looking to order a very specific dish and my wife was pleasantly surprised with the build your own dish options right on the menu. Service was pretty quick and the food was not only fresh and authentic but delivered by a robot. You can order at your table via QR code or the counter. I had the taco salad with the medium avocado salsa. It tasted great and was a generous portion. Check it out next time you're craving a great taco, burrito or a custom Mexican dish.

It has taken me too long to discover Oscar's great breakfast burritos. They are huge and reasonably priced, each filled with scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, and cheese. Meat choices vary from chorizo, bacon, sausage, and steak. Add refried beans for no charge. And the medium green salsa is good enough to drink, so have no shame and ask for extra. The regular menu is fine but nothing incredibly special, particularly when there are so many amazing authentic Mexican spots in Olathe. They have definitely shifted to more of a takeout spot, with very little ambiance or attention given to the interior, which doesn't bother me in the least. Just know some of the interior photos here on Yelp are outdated.

I have been wanting to try this place so gave it a shot. Options to order at the table by scanning in the menu or you order on a screen at the front counter. It's like a more authentic version of chipotle. Order a burrito, picked chicken, charro beans and cheese. I didn't see a spot to choose sauce add on. It came with chips and a small side of sauce. The burrito was good but it could've been warmer. Charro beans were incredible and queso was good. Everything delivered by a robot from the kitchen. Sort of neat but made me think of Paulie's robot from Rocky IV. Good meal that I'll try again.

Alright dug in a little bit, but Chicken Flautas

I don't normally write reviews for places that I DoorDash, because I can't give the full experience, but this order was so good I had to say something. I absolutely love the way that my food was packaged. I ordered the chicken flautas with refried beans and Spanish rice. I was craving flautas and I chose here because of the amount of customization you can do with the toppings. I am not a fan of sour cream and most places put it on as standard. I chose lettuce, pico, cheese, and then I added guacamole. Not only was I impressed with the packaging, but everything was delicious. This was by far the most flavorful Spanish rice I have had since moving to Kansas. I was hesitant by the refried beans, because they are almost a liquid consistency, but the flavor was there as well. These were my first flautas in years and I was pleasantly surprised. I will definitely be ordering from them again.

Nothing authentic about it. Food portions were a lot smaller than a usual Mexican restaurant. Prices were high for what you got.

Their chips are the perfect level of thin and crispy, the salsa is great, and I love the wide range of margarita flavors they offer. As far as the service.... Again, been going here for two decades and I don't recall one single occasion of bad service. It's always been the kind of place where they recognize and appreciate the regulars. It's a good atmosphere! I suppose I should talk more about the food. Again, never a bad experience really. I get one of two things- the steak fajitas, which are good but not incredibly memorable- or the divine chicken cream cheese enchilada. I haven't been able to find it's like anywhere. I lived in Texas for three years and I LONGED for my cream cheese chicken enchiladas. The sauce, oh the sauce..... I always get extra, both for the dish itself and to dip my chips in. I will say that the only downside is doing to go or a call in order.... It is not exactly uncommon to find that an extra sauce is missing. Or, for example, if you don't specify that you want the free chips and salsa, it may not be in there. Just check the bag before you leave, that's all I'm saying. Still, one or two little mistakes absolutely will not stand in the way of a five star rating. I honestly love eating here.

And I don't make multiple return visits to restaurants where I don't enjoy the food and the service. The restaurant is tucked away down what appears to be an industrial street where you wouldn't expect to find a sit-down restaurant. Because of this you won't accidentally discover it while you're out on a Saturday afternoon drive. I'm certain the location hurts their business as it has other failed restaurants that have occupied the same space in the past. But if you go to the trouble of finding it, you'll be happy you did. There are a few "Mexican" restaurants in this area of town, but this is a "Tex-Mex" restaurant, which I prefer. I won't go into describing each individual item on the menu, I'll just say the food is solid Tex-Mex. I lived in Houston and San Antonio for a total of 10 years, so I know what Tex-Mex is supposed to taste like. Chapala could definitely hold their own in South Texas. I think you should give it a try.

While many items were ok and overall portion sizes were good, it lacked seasoning, especially the quesadilla. It was simply a tortilla with an underwhelming amount of cheese. Didn't even taste like the tortilla was heated up with any butter. Very bland. The tacos we ordered were ok but the shells reminded me of that from a Taco Bell taco kit almost. Sadly a soft option or corn option was not offered to us. Even though we dined around 1230, the restaurant was empty. Only one other table was occupied with guests. The hostess was even eating while working which didn't make for a very welcoming ambiance.
