I don't often come to Daisy's but whenever I do, I'm pretty sure I'm going to get a terrific meal. So when a friend asked me recently for a ride to KCI in the morning that light bulb came on that said, oh yeah, breakfast at Daisy's, and I get to see the new location across the street where they moved awhile back. The best part of this? In an area that's already pretty much one of the 2-3 epicenters of the street taco culture in the city, another taqueria moved into their old location. Stay tuned for my first visit there. So the new location is quite the improvement. Nice signage, pleasant seating area, and ample parking in their dedicated lot in front. I can't recall for sure, but I'd say the menu has expanded, and some of those lunch and dinner specialties look incredibly tempting. For those that wish to avoid others, they have picnic seating in the back, another plus, though in this heat, the nice air conditioning inside is just fine. My mixed breakfast burrito had it all. Bit's of bacon, ham, beef, potatoes, egg, cheese and more and at $7.99, a really good deal that filled me for a good part of the day. Three sauces come with it: a hot/green avocado styled sauce that way my fav, a salsa verde and a red chili sauce. I swear I went through a good part of that first sauce. Paired beautifully with the burrito. So whoever is owning and operating Daisy's, they have it going pretty well. Always good, always consistent, and will always be on my list for breakfast when the need calls and I happen to be in KC in the morning. You should stop in here and sample their chow. In an area known for its tacos and a restaurant known for its breakfast burritos, it's a little strange that I haven't tried either. Instead, I can't seem to get past the combo meal part of the menu. The combos include a main dish served with rice and beans. Tacos and deep fried tacos are choices, however I just haven't gone there... yet. I like the Steak Mexicano (pica de gallo, salsa ranchers with eggs on top) and the Chimichanga. The Steak Fajitas are good, too. One small note: The restaurant itself is pretty small. Just a kitchen with three or four tables. It can get a little cramped during peak times. The wait is worth it. read more

I've been here a few times and it's always delicious. The staff is very friendly and polite I had a steak torta my first time then big chicken burrito that was smothered with queso. Then I had a kind of loaded French fries with Al Pastor. Next time tamales!! It's a nice little place on the corner and if you haven't been here you need to try it. read more

This place is a dive that I found on the KCK Taco Trail and wouldn't have been here otherwise. I had a steak burrito and at right around $11 I'd rec this place. 3 tables... looks like they do a fair amount of to go. Lots of road construction workers. Just another Great little taco shop in KCK. Daisy's serves a large but typical Mexican menu and opens at 6am for breakfast also. The shrimp taco I had was packed with hot and sauteed shrimp and onions and the Al Pastor tostada and taco were filled with savory and crispy edged meat. Topped with some crema, veggies and sauce and pickled side items from the condiment table made for a wonderful and inexpensive lunch for $7. The best little hole in the wall spot! We got the tamales plate because we have been craving good simple Mexican food. We live in Hawaii so it is hard to come by...and this gem reminded us of why we always search for the small spots. We also got the Al Pastor tacos and burrito...the best Al Pastor I've had. It was seasoned, and cooked to order. So fresh and hot with a choice of salsas and tomatillos; brought directly to your table with a smile. Absolutely great service. First off, do you really want good food? Or so you want to be trendy? Do want friendly staff or do you want an Instagram food picture? Daisy's is an amazing place, they are not trying to be something they aren't. It's basic but you're not paying for unnecessary things. The food is delicious. The tacos weren't the best I'd ever had but were very very very close. And for the price, I'd eat them every day. Price + taste = perfect! The salsas were extremely good with lots of flavor. (Separate area past soda machine) A key ingredient most places miss, flavor. Nice spicy pickled onions on there too. The staff is extremely nice and helpful. But what really makes this place beyond a typical, inexpensive taco joint is the ICE CREAM. Hand MADE! I just tried about 4 flavors and was blown away. Pistachio (loaded with nuts), lime, coconut (real coconut), Horchata flavored!?! SO many cool flavors. Ask to try them! If this ice cream was being served on the plaza, it would cost $10 for a small cup and people would line up for it and thank them. Follow flavor not trends. That new Mission taco joint that opened in the crossroads is 5.5 miles away. It's an imitation of what Daisy's really is. A 10 min drive for authentic and AFFORDABLE good food. The money doesn't go to a company, it goes to a family that is working their butts off. Try them! read more

Every single thing I've ordered from this restaurant has been cooked to order, fresh, and flavorful! Flautas, Mexican burger, carne asada fries, seasoned fries, it's all good! Anytime a new Mexican restaurant opens in Armourdale, I'm always excited. Kansas avenue is ground zero for great authentic Mexican and pretty close to where I live and work. Went in around 6:30 on a Saturday night. Myself, and two other customers were there during the 10-15 minutes I waited for my food. The girl behind the counter was outgoing and extremely nice, and was going well out of her way to make sure everyone had what they needed. I ordered a couple tortas to go. They were $6.50 each, and came with fries, a lime wedge, and a beautifully blistered grilled jalapeño. I also picked up each of their 3 kinds of salsas and a baggie of pickled onion/jalapeños. All 3 salsas were fresh and tasty, running the gamut from the herbal and juicy tomatillo, to the habanero, which had a very pleasant lingering burn. The tortas were pretty good sized, and the barbacoa was cooked well but still extremely tender. They came with avocado, onion, tomato, and lettuce. Solid torta, especially considering all the accoutrements (fries, etc) that one usually pays extra for. Not in the running for best torta in KC, but solid nonetheless. All in all, a very pleasant and positive experience, and a good addition to KS Avenue. I'll be back. read more

Overpriced. Rude and impatient staff over the phone. Terrible customer service. The food is not even all that great for them to be acting like that. Portion sizes are small. They charge for every little extra thing. What type of Mexican place charges for sauce? They should be ashamed. Awesome Steak Tortas! The fries were really good and way better than what I was expecting. The steak was well seasoned and the bread was crispy from being grilled but soft overall. They have $1.25 tacos on Tuesday according to their sign which I didn't see until I ordered. Great hole in the wall for a great taste of Mexico. read more

I don't know where these people eat that say good thing about this place but they must not get out a lot. First off dirty, and the people cooking don't have any cooking skills just none, there applying heat to food till it looks done, no seasoning that i could taste and a dirty grill, floor, the counter was only tiled on the side not top. The food is dry unflavorful and the people cooking it look ungroomed and looking at you weird and made me feel uncomfortable. Floor dirty and unfinished. I don't even what to know what the back looks like ewwwww.... anyway the owner is unknowledgeable in restaurant business and need to get help or just close the doors before someone gets sick. At the very least get a professional chef to come up with "clean properly seasoned flavorful food cook in a skilled way" the people cooking are clueless here. yuk , ewwwww and barf. This is our go-to place. My family and I have eaten here dozens of times and it's always consistently delicious. I especially recommend the burrito de asada. First the food. Food was solid street style quality food and reasonably priced. We got an assortment of tacos, carne asada, carnitas, al pastor and lengua. They put a lot of unnecessary stuff on it, but they were good and provided lots of limes. I like just plain old onions and cilantro and limes. I will ask for only that if I go again. They also bring out several salsas for you to try. The avocado sauce and salsa verde were good. The red sauce is plain. Ordering and seating was a little confusing. I will give them a pass and say I think we figured out on the way out that there was a problem maybe with the hood in the kitchen and was causing the normal dining room to be smoky so there was no seating in there. Be prepared to order in spanish... not a big deal for my family. The order came out right, but I am not sure how because the waitress asked us to give her our entire order again as we were checking out. Biggest negative... no napkins, no silverware, nothing. Me and my fiancé both love this place, everything that we have tried has been amazing, Not to mention all the waitress are always very friendly as well as the cooks , the cooks are even ready to be asked about the specials or entrées.
