Chips and hot sauce and hot and sour soup...
    Scott T.

It should come as no surprise that Jasmin makes up 100% of the ethnic dining options in tiny Eudora--unless you consider frozen pizzas from the convenience store as ethnic. Tucked away on their tiny, cute little main street it's a decent choice for locals. The food isn't bad, but it isn't great. Trying to make a go of a restaurant of this nature in a small town isn't an easy venture. Serving two types of cuisines out of one kitchen complicates matters. We had the tacos and the special of the day for Chinese. Fresh ingredients had clearly been in preparation for some time and suffered as a result (wilted cilantro is not a pretty thing). Not exactly a memorable lunch unless you count having hot and sour soup and chips and salsa brought to the table at the same time. That elicited grins. I'll give them props on pricing. Both dishes were $4.95 for lunch and it was a *lot* of food. Some of the construction workers that came in looked mighty satisfied on their way out. Service was pleasant, the restaurant was clean and no other complaints. The ambiance is fairly sterile. Too bad they can't perk up the decor a bit--a large Chinese painting on one side of the room and Mexican knick-knacks on the other. Maybe some music? Hoping the locals support it. There are a lot of Mexican and Chinese choices less than ten minutes away in Lawrence so I hope Jasmin keeps working hard at their craft. Certainly a unique experience.

Egg drop soup. Way too thick and not a lot of flavor.

So we have lived here in Eudora for about 2 yrs and yesterday was our first time trying this place out. My neighbors gave it good reviews. We had a party of 6 so we ordered many things both Mexican and Chinese. I do not like to bash mom and pop type restaurants so I will be brief. Things to avoid: egg drop soup, egg rolls (they left huge amounts of oil on plates), fried rice, cashew chicken and free salsa and pork tacos. Things we enjoyed: Crabrangoon, sweet and sour chicken and our server was very pleasant. Hopefully this was just a bad day but we will not be returning.

Two great tastes that taste great together!

The fun concept, cozy environment, and really excellent service almost make up for the so-so quality of the food. But really, this is what it's supposed to be-- cheap, greasy, salty food. The Curry Chicken actually had a subtle seasoning that was unexpectedly delicious and the salsa was pretty good. Loved the non-stop flow of iced tea! I wish there were more merging of the two cuisines instead of either/or. What I'd like to see is a Chinese/Mexican Combo combo that really showcases the unique possibilities of this sweet place.

Triple delight sizzling rice soup. Very delicious ! Visited from california and this soup has got to be the best ive ever had !

4 stars is just right for this small town eatery. Good food good service. I asked for the hot sauce and mixed with mild, good stuff. The chips are hot and fresh. I got off the hiway to eat here, worth the drive.

I don't know if abuela left but I think she would be disappointed in how this restaurant served us. Firstly, the food had no flavor. I'm sorry but you're a restaurant.. isn't the whole point to eat food that has flavor? Like not even salt. Also the tacos were so greasy they made us gag. I'm not even kidding like it was bad. Once we got our food we waited 15 mins for silverware. So that kinda sucked too. And then it took us 5 years to get the check. Also there were extremely racist white old ladies sitting at the table next to us. The customer isn't always right. Anyway though, we were really disappointed. Lawrence does have great Mexican food. I was excited to bring my boyfriend here because it used to be one of my favorite spots. They also don't do free queso anymore. At least the place was clean. There are better spots like Lulu's or Los Guapos. (Rip cielitos). I'd maybe try again in the future but for now I wouldn't go back.

For those of you that might…read morewant to eschew the plethora of new--and incredibly annoying, at least to me --corporate "taco & tequila" joints downtown with their dancing, writhing sombreros or jalapeno themed logos... there are at least four within a few blocks at least count, this would seem to be your destination. Why the sudden explosion of the former I have no idea. I expect 3/4 of them to be out of business within 18 months. I digress. So, yes, this is nothing like that former experience where your experience can be at the hands of the newest KU student or high school grad working for minimum wage between them reading their texts. Someone in the kitchen, someone at the counter. No muss, fuss, no shots of tequila. You know where to find those. For lunch we had the carnitas platter and it was an exceptional plate of food of the very best kind. The meat was utter perfection. Moist, savory, with a few small burnt bits for texture. Exceptional rice and beans, guacamole with onions and tomato and four steaming corn tortillas. Heavenly bites. If they can repeat this a couple of times I'm happy to go 5 stars. The interior is not particularly welcoming, no one visible upon entering, and you order at the rear of the restaurant at the counter. Odd, why they did that I have no idea. Immense improvement just by taking down some paneling they've put up to obscure the view. They deliver your food on Styrofoam plates and plastic utensils, plenty of napkins, sauces in small individual containers. Will they make it? I hope so. This is good, honest, real food that satisfied and then some. Must spread the word and hope others find the chow here as very appealing as did we on our first visit.

The place had booths and bar seating, that I saw. There seemed to be additional seating in the back, though it was not visible to me. The front door/entryway was difficult to open, and I don't recall a door-opening button for those who need the assistance. Wonderful experience for me. Again, one of the best parts of my experience was the wonderful service. By this point, they leave you with a laminated, multi-page menu at your seat, and you order through your server from where they seat you. The food is served on re-usable plates, cups, bowls, and with napkin-wrapped silverware.
