She is gracious, attentive, and genuinely thoughtful--someone who remembers you and makes you feel like more than just a table. Tonight, when things slowed down a bit, we had the chance to catch up and share a few laughs, which made the evening feel even more special. As for the food, it was just as impressive. I had the twin lobster with ginger and scallion over E-Fu noodles--rich, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. My husband ordered his usual--eggs with mixed vegetables--which isn't on the menu, but they always accommodate when possible. He thoroughly enjoyed it, as he always does. Dimsum place out in Long island. It looks like a diner from the outside, and inside. There is the diner countertop. The good thing about this place id that there are parking spaces. Dimsum is adequate. Not as good as the dimsum place in Flushing, but not horrible. The taro crescent is good. Raddish cake is also good along with the young chow fried rice. The soy sauce in the rice roll is a bit too sweet. Shrimp in the shrimp dumpling lacks flavor. Overall, I will come here if I live around here. read more

The review is for its party service. The hosts requests for a family style dining for its guests. We received a 12 family style meal. Each table is about 10 people. On each round they served a big platter of Chinese cuisine. In order - seaweed jelly veggie appetizers, egg drop soup, squid with veggies, coconut shrimp with walnut, abalone with veggies, lobsters with veggies, beef & brocolli, roast chicken with veggies , pan fried noodle, fried rice , fish with veggies , then fruits . Finally, a local dim sum place so we don't have to go to Queens! We got there just as it opened on a Sunday. Variety of selections, all piping hot and delicious. Baked pork buns, shrimp vegetable dumplings, short rib dumplings, shrimp dumplings, shrimp rice dumplings, sticky rice (big chunk of Chinese sausage), sesame balls, fried pork meat dumplings, everything was really good. Large shrimp in the dishes. Friendly service too. Parking lot in front and rear of restaurant. Ambiance was very friendly- restaurant filled up fast on a Sunday. Had a lot of leftovers. Easily Best on the island for dim sum, never crowded, even on weekends if you go early. There takeout is top notch. I only come here just for convivence as going all the way to flushing is quite a hassle. The taste for the location you cant go wrong. I only take away one star as there eggs rolls are not the standard filling. My kids like here also and the bathroom is quite clean. For bigger groups for say 15 people they can handle. I saw Orient Garden on TikTok. My daughter and I went last week. We ordered a bunch of different dim sum dishes. She eats meat and I don't. I liked the taste of everything I picked but some things needed a little support. I have no problem using chopsticks, but I couldn't lift the steamed vegetable dumplings or shrimp rice noodle without them falling apart. We saw a few tables with the same thing. We finally checked this place out for dim sum after months and months of wanting to come. We came on a Saturday when they first opened and sat right away. They come quickly with the carts so you can get food and if it's not on the cart you can order off the menu. It's great to have a Cantonese option in the area. There is parking in both front and back of the restaurant. The interior gives me old diner vibes. The layout is okay but if you sit at the large tables towards the back, bring a long sleeve because it gets cold! We tried this location twice, once in the afternoon and once right at the height of dim sum at 12pm. I don't recommend dim sum later in the afternoon as the food is cold and they don't have the carts going around. At a later time, you have to ask them for some specific dishes and the wait staff will bring what they have. Half the staff seems to speak Mandarin and the other half Cantonese. We had a large group so we called in advance to give a heads up. They don't take reservations but it helped that we gave the heads up so we could get the large table for 14. Food was hotter during the rush period. They had all the staples in dim sum: shrimp dumpling, rice noodle, chicken feet, pork rib, wrapped rice, shumai, and more. The food isn't bad. I've had thicker beef rice noodle before and the pork ribs are very fatty here. Overall, it's decent dim sum if you're in the area but don't have high expectations. read more

This use to be a diner spot a while back and now a reopened dimsum spot that I recently discovered. Not overly crowded. great selections at an affordable cost. Granted they need to work on the services. But overall I would come back again. It's way more convenient and the food is more authentic versus other spots in long island. It still bothers me that no one in long island knows how to make a legit Shui Mai. Like they all taste the same quality !? Which is bizarre to me. Everything else is on point! The food was amazing! The issue I had was that they only gave us one menu for 4 people and we were very confused about what and how to order. Someone came by with spring rolls and other appetizers. She had on a mask so the communication was very difficult. Once we ordered, each plate was brought separately. Mine came last, at least 15-20 minutes behind the first entree. For takeout, Orient served up a tasty dim sum meal for us! Everything was neatly packed in tin foil boxes to retain the warmth and prevent spills. The pork spare ribs, tripe, pineapple baos, and congee were my favorites from our spread. The delicate crispy tops of the pineapple buns were nice and sweet; the char siu bbq pork filling inside was also on sweet side without being cloyingly so, and the meat was pulled and tender. The preserved egg congee hit the spot as well-- not too watery and full of flavor with plenty of pieces of century egg and meat. Scrumptious! The location used to be a diner and you can tell from the outside, but the interior has been updated with modern furniture. They open early and have the push carts for dim sum! Takeout typically takes around 20 minutes. Authentic Cantonese restaurant in Garden City Park! How awesome is that?!?! We no longer have to schlep into Flushing or Bayside, Queens for "real" dim sum and Cantonese food! (Truthfully, for Long Island this is a 4 Star restaurant but if it were in Flushing Queens, this would be more of a 3-3.5 Stars). Orient Garden has taken over a location which was previously a diner. They have a small parking lot in front but there is also street parking available if the lot gets full. Although I haven't gone for dim sum yet, I'm surprised to see some negative reviews. I don't see any dine-in reviews for dinner service, so this review is actually for their dinner service. My family and I went on a random Wed evening, around 6pm, and was surprised to find it pretty empty. Service and hospitality were welcoming and fantastic! Orient Garden has a huge menu (as expected in any decent Cantonese restaurant). These are the dishes we tried on this visit (shared by 4ppl): -- 1/2 Peking Duck (4 sandwiches) $34.95...this dish was a little disappointing. It was more like Roast Duck than Peking Duck. Our waiter assembled 4 crepes for us; a nice touch so that we didn't make to make our crepe sandwiches ourselves. This dish was ok. (3/5) -- Fish Fillet & Bean Curd Casserole $20.95...Classic Cantonese Casserole dish. This was great! (4/5) -- Salt & Pepper Seafood Combo $28.95...This is fried seafood goodness! I wish there was more variety in seafood but still a great dish. (4/5) -- Sauteed Snow Peas Leaves w.Garlic $18.95...These veggies were perfection! Nice garlicy flavors and sauteed perfectly. This location used to be a diner, and now it's an Asian restaurant that serves dim sum, live fish, seafood, and authentic Cantonese dishes- yay! Thanks to my in-laws who told me about it. They wanted to try it as well, so I came here right when they opened today and got takeout for us. Dim sum for lunch, another yay. They have a decent sized parking lot, and the restaurant itself is pretty spacious. The dim sum prices are reasonable- about $5-$6 a dish. The girl, Joan, who took my order and the other staff were very friendly. I waited about 10 minutes for my order and everything was fresh & hot when I ate it. The chicken feet, shrimp balls, and turnip cake were really good & flavorful. I loved the fried sesame balls and glutinous pork dumplings- the dough part is thin with lots of filling. My in-laws enjoyed it too, yay! The rest of the dim sum were OK. This restaurant is a great addition to the NHP area- I bet many are so happy about it. Save yourself a trip to Queens and come here instead. I'll definitely be back for more dim sum and try out their dinner dishes. read more

BLUF: Good food (4 out of 5 stars), but we experienced service issues during a soft opening visit. Orient Garden is a new full-service (as in, dim-sum, lunch, and dinner) Cantonese restaurant that takes the place of Park City Diner. We visited during a soft opening weekend for dim-sum. We arrived around 11:15 AM, and were seated quickly. The restaurant seemed filled to capacity 10 minutes later. The dim-sum we had was good. The dumplings were tight, suggesting that less lard was used compared to other restaurants. The shrimp were fresh and de-veined. The chili oil had a good amount of heat. The black pepper beef spare ribs were over-tenderized but still good. We would have eaten more, but for service issues. The dim-sum carts moved slowly around the restaurant. One may also order from the menu by getting the attention of a waiter; or order dim-sum directly from the dim-sum cart by walking over to the cart with one's dim-sum order form. Our orders placed with the waiter were jumbled. We didn't receive things we ordered, received things we didn't order (and which we declined) -- and were billed for both of these issues. However, the staff corrected our bill. We would visit again; we expect service to improve over time. The dim-sum is slightly more expensive than in Queens, but also seems slightly better executed. It's best to visit Chinese restaurants for dim-sum on the weekend, as weekends usually generate enough volume for restaurants to justify offering their widest selections of dim-sum. read more

A new medium to large sized dim sum restaurant, which also serves an eclectic Cantonese menu. Opens at 11am, and this place is already crowded with people waiting for the doors to open. Food: the basic dim sum dishes we were actually able to get were pretty good, like shrimp dumplings and shumai. Beef ribs were tasty but could have been a bit more tender. Right now, its in its soft opening and there is a lot of kinks to work out. The kitchen is backed up with work and can't keep up with the enormous immediate demand for dim sum. Those little bundles of deliciousness. Don't come super hungry because there might be a super long wait for your food, depending on what you order. You can wait for the carts to roll around or you can order from the overworked waiter that runs around doing a million things. We ordered 3 dim sum items from him. He added into his Ipad but, they seemed to have gotten lost in the abyss. The dishes never showed up. So we just randomly order a few more dishes off the cart. Seating: Lots of booth seating on the left. To the right is multiple large round tables for big groups. in the back is a nice looking private room with a few tables with a large circular bar in the center. Parking: a small amount of private parking in the front. Final note: this place still needs time to get out the kinks and have everything run smoothly, so you might want to wait awhile before coming here. Decent and convenient spot for dim sum in Nassau County. 3 people around 2 PM on a Saturday (I believe dim sum is until 3 pm). The other 2 people had been here before for dinner but not for dim sum. Plenty of seating at this time and there are a lot of staff coming around and serving. There were 2 dim sum carts going around, we ordered the rest of the dim sum items we like from the menu. I also ordered the pineapple pork buns to go to bring to friends later :) It helped that the dim sum menu has photos for items we love that we didn't remember the name of and also in case of any language barrier when ordering. So far it's a great dim sum option in Nassau County. I wish there was a little more selection in the carts but definitely plan to come back for dim sum and maybe try dinner sometime. read more

Came in for dim sum and they had two carts on rotation with a full selection of classic dim sum dishes. Service was delightful and chill. Flavor of everything wasn't too salty and met expectations for what I was looking for. A stand out was their egg tarts, which were incredibly buttery and flaky crusts. Any new dishes that they make, the servers come around holding them fresh in trays before putting them on the carts. The restaurant is spacious with plenty of room, which was a good alternative to the often crowded and long waits in Flushing. I loved all the basics like rice rolls and pork chops and lamb chops and fried rice.. What I liked most wasn't the food, it was the honesty and the service. Granted they were busy, but we left valuables by accident.. after I called and they said they didn't find it. We wanted to go to an old school eat in Chinese restaurant but didn't feel like travelling far so we stumbled upon this gem. We were served tea and crispy noodles with duck sauce immediately when we sat. The tea was very good. Drinks are very reasonable compared to other restaurants. My cosmo and my husband's Zobie were $13.00 each. The menu is extensive. It's authentic but they have classic dishes also. We had the tangerine beef and general tso's chicken. The beef was good, but the chicken dish was excellent and white meat only. The portions are huge so next time we will probably split a meat dish and a noodle dish. The larger round tables have a lazy Susan in the center and would be perfect for a group to share. Restaurant was clean and bright. You can tell it used to be a diner but we didn't care about that. I think the food here is great. I've been a few times. Love the variety for dim sum. It's delicious. I especially love the eggplant with shrimp. It's so good I could just eat several plates of those. Dinner menu is huge too. Lots of choices. My mom, daughter and I enjoyed dinner. But I've been for dim sum five times. Definitely recommend. The staff has been nice every time I've been there.
