I have to say this is the worst "Chinese" food I've ever had. We ordered 4 items. Eggroll skin tasted like soap. Chicken in the Pad Thai tasted old. Shrimp and fake crab in the Happy Family was old and mealy. Fried rice not fried, overcooked and gummy. All food delivered cold. We wanted to support this small business but can't. Awful. read more

I tend to judge Chinese restaurants on how good their hot & sour soup is -- and this is the best I've had in a long time. I also had the pan fried noodles. Top quality meats and vegetables. I've eaten at Orient Express alot over the past 2 years. It was always delicious, great portions and the price was good. My daughter and I usually order a a bunch of food on Friday and we eat it all weekend. Tonight I ordered and noticed the portions are smaller and come in shallower boxes now. The quality has decreased as well. But the worst part is....it was more expensive !! We always order the same food too. The food tastes different too. Not as good at all. I understand inflation but this place needs to renegotiate a few things. I won't be back. All in all it was about $20 increase in price and about 30% decrease in size and taste was about a 2/10. read more

This is your average chinese style restaurant, but they deliver to the local area. The portions are smaller than one typically anticipates with to-go or delivery orderes. Instead of the typical styrofoam containers they use these small plastic containers that have attached lids. The fried rice was average and nothing to write home about. The general Tso Chicken was small pieces, but there was plenty of sauce (thankful for that). The egg roll was very bland with almost no flavor other than the oil used to fry it. The fried chicken wings were probably the best part. I did not have high expectations and they met that, but that has never stopped me from ordering takeout/delivery chinese food as it does take care of that hungry feeling. If you are looking for your average chinese takeout place, this is certainly one for you and since they deliver to the local hotels its makes it that much more appealing. read more

I will need to update my review after I try something other than appetizers, but what I had was decent. My BF and I stopped in and each got a soup, a shared small pork fried rice, and an order of spring rolls and an egg roll. I thought everything tasted like average chinese take out--it wasn't the best and it wasn't the worst. I thought that the portion size was pretty good for the price. I'd be interested in trying the lunch menu because it seemed like you get a lot for $6.75. I thought my BF's hot and sour soup was good. My wonton soup was average. Ever since I moved down from Toledo in 2014, I have been on the search for a good Chinese place... While there are plenty of 'average' Chinese places, I finally found a good Chinese place with Orient Express. It's nothing fancy, but it's awesome Chinese carryout. They have excellent Lo Mein, General Tso's Chicken, Chicken with Cashew, and other Chinese Takeover favorites. Delivery is only $2.75 and online ordering is available via BeynoldMenu.com. Tried the Beef Chow Mei Fun and the Chicken with Snow Peas. The thin rice noodles of the Beef Chow Mei Fun were well seasoned but the beef was pretty gristly and detracted from the dish. The Chicken with Snow Peas was flavorful and that was good; the chicken had been marinated and the dish was packed with crispy snow peas. After a few hours of climbing the rock wall downtown, a friend and I stopped to get some food here. He lives in the area and said that it's his favorite Chinese, but had never been here for dine-in. My first reaction was sticker shock! I ordered my go-to "chinese" dish of General Tso's chicken and a can of soda. I was asked if I wanted the "small" or "regular" size.... With no idea what it meant, I said "regular". My bill was just under $13 for my lunch. Getting past that, everything was good. The chicken was tender, had a good flavor, and was more than enough (Next time I'll ask for "small"). The rice was steamed and sticky...and tastes like rice. I adore Chinese takeout. We have several go-to places in the Hilliard area; Oriental Express is my favorite so far. The menu could be more developed, but the food is always hot and fresh. The rice is sticky. The brown and white sauces are perfectly seasoned. The sweet and sour sauce could be sweeter and thicker. One major plus, I have seldom found a chewy chicken piece. Oriental Express serves lunch and dinner and has a Hibachi bar. I have only eaten dinner there, and we always call in for pickup. Great Egg Foo Young. I'd also recommend the Chicken with Snow Peas and the Sesame Chicken. The vegetable dishes focus on bean curd, and I haven't found one I'd die for yet, but they're okay. Also, they need more beef plates. Alas, I'm still in search of good takeout crab Rangoon (more stuffing, please) as well as fried rice comparable to my hometown Empress Express. But Oriental Express does a respectable job in both these areas as well. read more

Last night was my third visit, and it was probably the worst visit I've had at Orient Express. I ordered Sesame Beef - and the sauce was fine. The accompanying broccoli was fine, nicely steamed. The beef seemed to be good quality - no gristle - what I didn't like was the batter on the beef. I guess I am used to crispy beef, velveted and fried. This was a thick batter, similar to the sweet/sour chicken or General Tso's type of batter. It was heavy and soggy, and not that appetizing. I only drove 5 minutes to my home from the restaurant, so that really didn't contribute to the soggy factor..... I also tried the "new" offering of brown rice. I guess it was ok for INSTANT brown rice. Once again bad texture - Why offer brown rice if you don't want to do it right? Like I'm not going to notice it isn't like the excellent brown rice cooked up at Joey C's, China Dynasty Lane Ave, or PF Chang's? Even Trader Joe's frozen brown rice is better that what I was served last night. All of this mediocre goodness for $9.59. Next time I'll pay the extra $3.00 and go to Joey Chang's or to China Dynasty Lane Avenue. I will be much happier. read more

This opened quite recently, and it's actually pretty good. The General Tso's chicken ($8.95) is spicy, saucy, and the meat is good quality. The roast pork chop suey ($6.95) is excellent value, and, unlike that I've had at other places, it is really flavorful and the pork is lean and tasty. You've gotta check out the pu pu platter - 2 each of teriyaki chicken ("cat on a stick" in my house), egg roll, rib (not so great), crab rangoon, fried shrimp and shrimp toast for $8.95. It's all a bit greasy but taste-wise, it's not bad at all. I've only ever had take-out but the place looks clean. The staff are very friendly. I just wish they delivered : / read more

Not very good, the hibachi is really overpriced for how little meat you get, plus I'm not accustomed to stir fried veggies with hibachi dishes. The food however was decent, maybe I'll go with a Chinese option next time if there is a next time...the shrimp was good, the steak, not so much read more

This place is the worst in Hilliard. I just got takeout from this place and the egg roll was flavorless and the cabbage and carrots in it were raw. I about threw up in my mouth. I also got chicken with garlic sauce and it was average. And pork lomein. My son said it had no flavor at all. So I tried it and had to add much pepper and salt. Avoid this little hole in the wall at all costs. I will never order from this place again.....I wish they had a negative star system because I feel weird even giving this place one star. read more

Every time I'm in Columbus, I visit the Oriental Express. The menu is varied, the food is very good and the quantities generous. The employees have always been friendly and helpful as well. The dining area is bare bones, but the food is worth it. I have always picked it up or had it delivered. It's now one of my brother-in-law's favorite restaurants as well. I have never had such poor customer service! When my order was over an hour late, I called to inquire on the status and was promised it would arrive soon. At the two hour mark, I called and asked them to make it right by discounting something on my order and the lady hung up on me! It is the best Chinese food.They really work on customer's request on how to prepare their foods especially I do have a sea foods allergy. Foods is yummy and freshly cook with extra crispy fresh. Normally my go-to for Chinese delivery. The quality just wasn't the same last time. The "white sauce" that generally accompanies a lot of main dishes had no flavor. And the Seafood Delight, advertised as a Chef's Special w/lobster, scallops, shrimp and crabmeat had no lobster, lots of imitation crab meat, a couple tiny scallops and 3 shrimp. I love the convenience and quick service of their delivery, but REALLY miss how good it used to be. read more
