Oregano's is downtown Gilbert made for a quick and easy choice when many other restaurants around it were way too busy! My bf and I had been in town for a wedding and everywhere else we tried had a massive wait. When we walked into Oregano's, we were immediately greeted. We were able to go right to the bar to order drinks and food. We were being helped by a guy server at first and then this awesome gal named Bethany took care of us for the rest of the time. Bethany was extremely friendly and kept checking in on us and making sure we were still doing good. I started with a Prickly Pear Margarita and my bf got the Long Island Express. I really enjoyed my margarita! Totally would recommend it. My bf was less impressed with the Long Island. We started with "Two Huge Meatballs". They came out piping hot! While we thought the meat aspect was okay enough, the sauce was delicious as was everything being smothered in cheese! For our main course, we ordered the 'Oregano's Own Pesto Pizza'. The thin crust was pretty good! This combo of fresh tomato slices on pesto was very enjoyable. Bethany offered to put some parmesan on our pizza and girl hooked it up! Though we liked the pizza, we felt like the oil was a little heavy in the pesto and our pizza wound up just a bit soggy. The guy with beany hat and big bread has poor customer service and a bad attitude. The lady that works in there is the same way. My daughter asked her not to put to much cheese on her pizza and she still did it and walked away. Then at check out I told him I am a member and want to get points he DID NOT enter my Number or anything I didn't notice it until I got the receipt and he walked in the back of the kitchen so I couldn't address it. The miss and I was in the mood for Italian food but this wasn't the place to have gotten it from. The 2 chicken plates with pastas were super salty and dry. The only positive part of the meal was the garlic bread and the Bellini bash drink that was very good. The food was great and it was reasonably priced. Their side salad was only $4 and it was so good. We paid about $56 for a side salad, a drink and 2 pasta and protein dishes which were delicious and came with a generous piece of garlic bread. I knocked off a star because the bathroom was out of toilet paper and they didn't have a hook on the door of the bathroom stall for my purse. Also we have a service dog, but they don't allow regular dogs on their patio which is unusual because most restaurants allow dogs on their patios. read more

PLEASANTLY SURPRISED. We walked around on Good Friday, hoping to find a restaurant that didn't have a long wait and came across Oregano's. It's a chain, so we didn't have high expectations and anticipated a fast-food-quality meal. We were seated immediately, which seemed worrisome when every other place on the street was packed. Our server was training another server and she was awesome. It's clear why she's a trainer. The drinks came out quickly. The pizza takes time to cook, but it was a reasonable wait time. The place was clean, friendly, and the pizza was pretty good. We are sensitive to MSG and didn't experience any side effects, so it's possible that they don't use products that contain MSG (aka yeast extract). This was a really good experience. Perfect spot for the day time date with my beautiful wife. The daytime waitress was epic to say the least. The lunch menu was priced amazingly with oversized portions. My husband and I have loved Oregano's for years. This particular location has always been "our place" since we started dating. Almost every date night has been here over the last several years, we've celebrated graduations and even our wedding rehearsal dinner in the Kaboom Room at Oregano's. We have been "regulars" I guess you could say, and have made some awesome connections along the way with some of the staff. One in particular, has been Mitch. Mitch has always had great customer service, and we were so pleased to find out he had been promoted to management. Although bummed, as now we will need to find a new server that is just as great... In all honesty, we haven't been to Oregano's much in the past year. Last night we went back for the first time in awhile to celebrate my husband's birthday. We had a party of 10 and tried to call ahead to get on the list to avoid a painful wait time. Like others have said, the call ahead service needs some work. (This is the reason for only 4 stars.) To spare you the details, we were quoted an hour wait time from when we got there (not when we called) and ended up waiting over 1.5 hours to be sat. Mitch actually was on duty last night and took care of us by accommodating and seating us in the Kaboom room as well as dropping off two garlic bread appetizers for our table to enjoy. Experience made - thanks to great customer service! Anyway, if you are looking for some recommendations... Alcohol: HIGHLY recommend the Dirty Monkey!! We were trying to decide where to dine on a Thursday night in Downtown Gilbert, and chose Oregano's. We've been here before and the food has always been really good. Arrived at 8pm, fairly busy time - 45 min wait...no biggie. They have a system to text when your food is ready. Right around 45 mins we get a text. Promptly sat at our table and greeted by our server Miranda. Ordered the Six Pack Shrimp as the app and shared the Shrimp Scampi. Both were amazing! My favorite Italian comfort place in AZ. I had low expectations, as it's a chain and it's Arizona, but wow. It's great. The decor is kinda old-1950s, vintage styled Italian kitsch (if that makes sense). It's a little campy, but again it's comfort food and inviting. Starting with apps--for those who eating seafood, the calamari is delicious. So delicious that our 2yr old preferred that to the pizza (shocking I know). The meals are family-sized and can feed two or more. Our personal favorites are the Hakuna Piccata and the Alfredo After Dark (I know I am messing up these names). Chefs kiss. Then no Italian meal is complete without the pizza. I refuse to acknowledge thin crust pizza as pizza, but the pan pizza is massive and delicious. Not too overwhelmingly greasy and they bring extra cheese to top it off. Feeds another 4-5 people. Make sure to order it ahead of any other orders bc it takes about 35 mins for them to bake it. Finally the dessert pizookie. It's alright. Not overly sweet, but full of chocolate. Again maybe 2/3 people can share bc you'll be full from everything else. So I order on Tuesday December 6th for catering for Saturday the 10th. It was a Caesar salad and 2 orders of garlic bread for 3:15pm. Well when I got there I had to wait for an hour for the food to come out. She the waitress/cashier kept saying they packing it up now sorry.. this happened every 15 minutes I asked her what's taking so long. This was not good for me considering the bread looked like it was cooked yesterday and it was cold and I ordered on a Tuesday for Saturday. Several people came right in and got there food. He accused me of stealing from oreganos this way before and said "take your business elsewhere". He implied that I couldn't afford it. When my sister offered to pay for the two missing pastas he asked her to leave and threatened to call the cops. I have never felt so humiliated and disrespected. I have been coming to this oreganos for years and know the staff, this was my first time meeting Danny and I hope it's the last. He did not even allow me to explain myself. However, I wanted to take my daughter on a mommy /daughter date Saturday night. We arrived near 5pm, I expected a wait and was informed the wait was 45-60minutes. Really? I can't imagine what the following word to "okay" would have been or was expected to be if it was a typo but I was really put off by it, like I treat people like servants? Both pizzas we got (The Bistro Classic and the Clark Street Meat) had great flavors and we loved the square cuts. Sadly, one of our pizzas came out after an hour of waiting and it was completely cold. The manager came over to ask us about our food and we asked him if he could heat it back up for us. He said he couldn't do that, but he would remake it for us but because we couldn't afford to wait another hour for it to come out, we just ate it cold. Just by feeling the bottom of the pizza pan, the manager was completely unsatisfied and told us he would never expect his customers to pay for cold pizza. So we waited the hour and we were finally called into a table. We were seated and our waitress came on over. She took our drink orders and brought them out right away. So fresh and the concoction was to die for! The pizza was good! A little to salty but it was good! The wings had too much of a vinegar taste! We got our food about after 45mins of placing it but the kids pepperoni never made it. We waited for our waitress to come and bring it to us but she never did. We then had to ask another server to help us with the missing slice. That server then informs us that the pepperoni slice order was never placed. We then get another employee come to our table and tells us that it will be a minute until it's ready. My niece was starving but managed to wait patiently for her slice.. I can't say enough good things a out this place. The decor is awesome, their back story is heart warming, and their food is absolutely phenomenal! My wife and I had 2 friends in town from New York and we were all craving some Italian food so we figured we'd give this place a try. I was nervous about the food quality going into it as they have many locations. Typically the more locations a place has, the lower quality their food is. This place did not disappoint! Their stuffed pizza is to die for, their pasta dishes are amazing, and their prices are fair. We also had a few cocktails and they were really good as well. It was extremely frustrating watching the bartender doing all of her closing side work well before 9 instead of making sure she put in our food correctly (or at all), making sure we had silverware and napkins or refilling our drinks. I like to leave work as soon as I can too but I would never sacrifice the service I provide to get out early and when I do make a mistake, because we are human and we all do, I would have grabbed a manager to try to resolve the issue instead of a quick apology so you could get back to closing the bar down. You weren't even busy so I can't seem to find a good reason for the lack of attentiveness. 3 stars because the food we did finally receive was delicious. read more

Ordered our food and it came out. When I say mediocre at best- that's being kind. Shrimp Diablo was a 5/10- usually so good. Big rig, don't waste your time. Pasta was over cooked and sauce was like water. Meatballs tasted old. Our server was more interested in talking to her friends at the bar rather than ask us how everything was. We had to actually interrupt their conversation to get some service. We boxed up the food because we needed to go and asked for our check. $73.00 for two drinks and two entrees, when I tell you. Not worth it. Called the next day to speak to a manager and never got a call back. Maybe will get better traction on here with a reply. read more
