Honestly shocked at the low reviews for this place! We ordered takeout tonight for Game 1 of the NBA finals (featuring a Gilbert man no less!) and it totally hit the spot. We ordered online and the food was ready when they said it would be. We got the Barro's Special w/ traditional crust and Spicy BBQ wings. The pizza was heavy on the toppings and the crust had a nice chew to it, just the way I like it. The wings were thoroughly (but not overly) sauced, and were meaty. I do think both items could be warmer (they were warm but not hot) but no idea if that's on us in terms of being too slow to pick up or the restaurant. read more

Ordered a pizza online with an expected delivery approximately 60 minutes for delivery. Its been now and hour and 50 minutes. When I called 20 minutes ago inquiring about why it was taking so long the girl that answered the phone lied to me and told me the delivery guy was out for delivery and he should be here in about 5 to 10 minutes. Highly disappointed. The last time we lived in AZ we LOVED to get Barro's pizza whenever we could. we've recently returned and ordered (delivery)from the Gilbert (williams/ market St) location. We ordered our favorite pizza, the kona, and wanted to try the white pizza. Delivery was fine (door dash) but the pizza was horrible. The white pizza was fine, just no real flavor. The kona, horrendous! we didn't order thin crust, but even if we had, I didn't know that crust could be made that thin. It was like trying to pick up a paper towel with toppings! Not to mention the toppings looked as though they had melted onto the bottom of the box and some look like they just slid off. I'm so sad because the last two times I have went to Barro's the quality has changed. We used to loveeee this pizza, but last time it didn't have any flavor and the wings were very mushy. Then today we decided to give it a try again just to see if maybe it was a bad day. We ordered our food over the phone and they told us 25 minutes but normally they are pretty quick so we went and picked it up after 20 minutes. We ordered a kids meal and the pasta was very dry and super cold. We were also missing the kids drink and the garlic bread which was a little disappointing. Then we ordered the supreme large pizza, but the pizza had very little toppings and the pizza was very cold. We also ordered two sides of garlic bread and the bread was really cold. $29.36 for cold items is a little frustrating. The restaurant was very quiet tonight and not busy at all. This is wow the best pizza I've had in 20 years. It's old-school pizza made just the way you ask it for the crust is fantastic. Just a right bite and crunch. The sauce is impeccable. It just taste so good. I recommend this 100 times and it's a reasonable price. It definitely tastes homemade but better cause I didn't have to make it or clean the kitchen anybody that doesn't eat any when it comes should be tied up. I can't believe anybody would not eat. This pizza is so good Yum Yum Yum as a matter fact, I won't order from anywhere else from now on it was Delivery. The best thing about this location is how exceptional the service was. There's just a few teenagers running it when I was there. They were polite and courteous and on the ball and eager to please. We had to ask them where the tip jar was so we could leave them something and they kept it under the counter because they didn't want it to seem like they were asking for money, so humble! The dining room was huge and clean and has a cute kids corner with games and a tv playing kids shows. We ordered side salads and a thin crust pizza with half pep and sausage and half pep and green peppers. The crust wasn't too thin but the pizza was exceptional, hot and tasty! Ive eaten at Barros with my family over 20 years for birthdays and parties and never had a complaint until tonight. I went to pick up a couple of pizzas that my wife ordered and the manager Austin tried to over charge me for his new employees mistake on the order. In addition He refused to correct it or even me any type of concessions for the mistake. I ended up just paying for one of the pizzas because my kids were hungry. Ive noticed that this particular location has lower reviews than the others and that starts at the top with poor leadership. I know several of the Barro family members and they are nice and kind people that I know would not approve of Austin's behavior tonight. I hope the proper corrective action takes place and Austin learns how to treat his customers better. I will not be ordering Barros any time soon and will especially never return to that particular location. I hope it was worth the extra $10 buck Austin. read more

We ordered an extra combo large pizza (thin crust) and a veggie salad tonight. The pizza's crust was perfect...not too thick nor thin and the toppings were a plenty. We ordered for 3 of us and we finished the whole thing. I can imagine if we ordered a regular crusted one, we would have had left overs. I don't normally eat the crust on the outside, but the crust here is delicious. As we walked in the room we found a welcoming staff and numerous types of seating from tables to booths, to bar-type seating. TV's lined the room. We reached the counter and found the menu board a bit confusing, so we started by telling the person behind the counter what we wanted. Barro's is known for their Chicago style pizza, but my wife was craving something more NY style. Fortunately, Barro's offers a thin crust that she found quite satisfying. The sauce makes or breaks any pizza and Barro's sauce does not disappoint. It is tangy with just the right spicy kick to make you fall in love. We ordered an extra-large with plans to take it home after dining. We also got an Antipasto salad as a starter. The salad was gorgeous. Lots of toppings and a delightful italian dressing. We shared about half of the salad before the pizza arrived. It was cooked exactly as we requested. The shocking thing was that my wife ate the crust. I have NEVER known her to eat pizza crust - ever! Unreal. We ordered pizza on a hectic night, kids were screaming and we didn't have the energy to make food at home. We pick up the pizza and bring it home, take a deep breath, and plate up the pizza, only to find that IT WAS RAW. We spent $25 dollars on a simple pizza and they couldn't even get it right. As exhausted parents and new customers of Barrows this was far below what I expected. Our friends grew up here eating, what they called, the best pizza in the East Valley... I might be able to agree if I could have at least had a cooked pizza. My wife and I came here on a Sunday afternoon with friends. They were only a few people there so we were able to order and sit down right away. You order at the counter and your order is brought to your table. The drinks are self dispensed from a fountain. We ordered the medium vegetarian pizza. This came with mushrooms, onions, green peppers, black olives, and tomatoes. Our order was out in a reasonable amount of time. The crust was thick and bready which is not my preference, I like thinner crusts. The sauce was flavored perfectly. There were a good amount of toppings, and just the right amount of cheese. The foods good but the customer service definitely needs help. They start closing and shutting people out before they even close. For example... we got there at 930 and my daughter wasn't allowed to play in the play area. People got there at 945 to order and they were told they could only order certain things on the menu that wouldn't take long to cook and if they wanna eat there they needed to be fast. I worked in the industry and we werent allowed to start stacking chairs til we closed because it's poor customer service trying to push customers out. Ordered gluten free pizza for this first time and enjoyed it very much. We also ordered an extra large meaty pizza for the non gluten free peeps and they loved it. The only thing that was absolutely disgusting was the small salad. It looks amazing on the website, but you don't get what's pictured. You don't get the dark greens pictured with iceberg lettuce, you get ALL iceberg with a pinch of cheese. Most of the lettuce was wilted and starting to brown. I called the restaurant and they said the driver got one of my pizzas mixed up with another order and the other guys had already called. They offered to re-deliver the right pizza or just give me a credit on my "account t" under my cell phone number. I called 1 week and 2 days later to place a new order and they could not find my credit and apparently don't believe me when I say they had made a mistake. I cancelled the current order and will not be back. So they made 2 mistakes and did not honor their word. It's a shame they don't allow the management in store to make things right with customers. We walked in they were showing the ufc pre lims and I asked if they can put it on a TV closer to where I was sitting and they decided change all the channels to a dog show. They said they allow to show "violence" . Then laughed in my face. When we walked out they put the fight back on because I walked back in 5 minutes later. I am a long time regular lunch customer at the Gilbert Barro's. After yesterday, I will never return. I walked in about 10 minutes before opening (as I almost always do as the door is unlocked). I was treated rudely and abruptly by an employee as I went to the counter to order - "We arent open yet". She then looked at her phone and then repeated the statement - very condescending. (This place has always had the door unlocked early and serves 95% of the time before 10:30AM.). All this employee would have had to say was something like (Give me a few minutes and I will get your order"). I guess business is good and you can afford to loose regular customers. Last time I came to this location I waited over 2 hours for a MEDIUM PIZZA!! That was it! Just a medium pizza and I waited that long. Finally I just asked for a refund and was so upset not to mention so hungry. Today my boyfriend and I decided to go to this location for dinner it was a Friday night. It was busy but not packed. They asked the girl if they could get one and said "we don't have any they are all out in the dining room" what? The restaurant was BARELY half full!!
