I have been getting Pizza at Crust for a long time but just getting around to posting about it. This is true NY style pizza, foldable and all. The real surprise is the incredible value of the Sunday Monday special where you can get a 20" New York Cheese Pizza for $15. You also still have the option to add on to that base per ingredient but still, an awesome deal. This Pizza is my go to weekend place for Pizza. Not only does it feed several people at the 20" size, but it is delicious. The sauce is a simple and delicious tomato base for the toppings. The crust is incredibly soft and flavorful on it's own. I usually pick it up to take home and have never had to wait longer than 2 minutes from the time I arrive to have it brought out to my car right in front of the restaurant. Super convenient. The restaurant is in the historic area of Downtown Chandler and looks like a great place to dine inside also. read more

Hey Hey Kids! First time at Crust Simply Italian...and there's nothing Krusty here...no clowns either. Stepping inside I expected a more intimate atmosphere, but was met with hard floors, open space in a more industrial-style building. Not typically my go-to setting as places like this can be quite loud. It was louder than I like inside with some 80s rock playing and voices echoing around...but after a few minutes it didn't bother me anymore. Our server was great and gave us a rundown on their menu and specialties. We were drawn to try the whipped ricotta appetizer and glad we did...it was unlike any appetizer I've had before...basically a smooth and sweet spread for the bread that accompanied it. We each ordered a pasta dish for our main meal...I got a spicy sausage pasta and my wife ordered the Tortellini alla Panna. The pasta was perfect sized for dinner and I was able to get a few bites of the tortellini from my wife. Both dishes were excellent. I spied a few dishes from around the restaurant and everything looked good. The to-go section was bustling with activity the entire time and the place was full except a few seats at the bar. The food was amazing here! I got myself a Chicken Alfredo, I wish they had broccoli but other than that it was very creamy and delicious. My boyfriend got the New York, he scarfed it down no problem. He wishes the ranch serving was bigger but the server happily brought him more. The server was very nice and friendly, he made sure everything was good. The ambiance was great, I loved the vibes, the music and atmosphere. The place was pretty empty wich I find nice. What a beautiful day for Italian pizza we had late lunch here. Upon walking in we're greeted right away with genuine smiles! Front desk lady was so sweet! She seated us and a waitress came by also so kind. I love it when we just feel welcomed & taken care of. So 1,000% service was there! Food was delicious! First time visiting Crust and I thought it was just okay. I ordered the ricotta appetizer and that was probably the best part of my meal. The bread was soft and well paired with the ricotta. However, I ordered the angel hair pomodoro and added chicken, and the pasta itself needed more sauce. My mother in law also ended up having to order a side of sauce for her pasta as well. Service was great though, our server was constantly filling up our drinks and got our orders in quick. With us being a bigger party, our food did take a bit to come out. read more

Delish!! Went for date night last night and had a great experience! We ordered the regular and spicy garlic knots and loved them both! I'm not a huge spice person, but I l really enjoyed the spicy garlic knots and appreciated the amount of garlic on the regular knots. No notes, absolutely delicious!! For our entrees I got the spicy rigatoni sausage (swapped out the sausage for chicken) and my husband got the 20" uncle Louie! Once again I'm not a big spice person and the pasta after a while was too spicy for me, but it was still so tasty and I ate it all!! The food was excellent and the portions generous! Their Caesar salad was fresh with large crusty croutons, lots of shaved parm. Also, a very nice touch that the salad plate itself is cold. The Sicilian pizza didn't disappoint and neither did the two chicken dishes we ordered. Would rate Crust better than North Italia, for the sake of comparison. We made a 6 PM indoor reservation by phone, and the hostess who took it was very kind and professional, which made us look forward to returning. Unfortunately, the experience didn't live up to that first impression. We were seated outside despite reserving inside, and after dealing with several flies around our food, we had to request multiple times before finally be moved indoors - carrying most plates ourselves. Once inside, service felt disorganized. Salads arrived while appetizer plates were still on the table, and several dishes came out cold. Calamari was okay, garlic knots okay. I'd skip the bacon wrapped shrimp. My short rib was extremely tough and cold, so I sent it back. My house salad was not dressed properly and scarce of veg. My son's Caesar salad arrived without chicken, and my other son's pizza also came out cold and in the shape of a pizza peel. Not sure if this is meant to be creative but it does cut down on quality of pizza and taste. Also costs the establishment less. The manager offered a slice of pizza - we accepted. It arrived much later and went uneaten, due to it being a slice of focaccia with melted cheese on top and 2 slices of pepperoni. yet we were initially charged $10 for it (it was removed when we asked). Our server was kind and apologetic throughout, but overall there seemed to be little coordination between staff and kitchen, and no manager checked in despite multiple issues. read more

At a restaurant called Crust I'd expect the bruschetta bread to be crustier. Toasted. Formidable. Hefty. The texture was lowkey distracting. Ordered the mushroom bruschetta which didn't end up in our trio. It sounded delicious and I'd love to report, but through no fault of my own I'm unable to do so. Whatever we were served, the ingredients themselves were tasty tho. The husband ordered the veggie calzone, and I got the meatball sub. Meatball sub tasted fine. Very fine. All the boxes were checked. Did they go above and beyond? Not really. Flavor felt processed and mass produced. Perfunctory. The husband was impressed w his veggie calzone. Tasted homemade. CRUST... I mean, with a name like that, the crust had better be good, right?! Well, I'm happy to report they absolutely understand what's up -- and they even offer a gluten-free crust that is seriously next level! We were lucky enough to be seated with Kailey, who also happens to be GF, which made the whole ordering experience so easy and fun. It's always such a treat when someone gets it and can help guide you through the menu! To start, we shared the bacon-wrapped shrimp as an appetizer (I skipped the bread, but my husband happily took care of that part ). The shrimp were perfectly cooked and packed with flavor -- such a yummy way to kick things off! For my main, I ordered Nicky's Burrata Pizza with the GF crust and holy smokes... this pizza was incredible! It had the perfect little kick of spice, the burrata was dreamy, and the crust? PHENOMENAL. Like truly -- you would never guess it was gluten-free. Total pizza bliss! And because we clearly have zero self-control around good pizza, we were way too full to tackle dessert there... so we took the GF Chocolate Peanut Butter Torte home to enjoy later. Let me just say... WOW. Ooey, gooey, rich, chocolatey perfection. And once again, you'd never know it was GF! All in all, this place was a huge win for the gluten-free crowd. This was my first time here and I will definitely be back! I brought my family, which includes my 1.5 year old nephew and picky eater in-laws. Every person absolutely loved their meal! The baby got a kids menu to choose off and he went with the chicken nuggets and fries. The lot of us got quite a variety of dishes: spaghetti & meatballs, a VERY generous portion of the classic; the bruschetta chicken pasta, plated gorgeously with a balsamic glaze; a chopped Italian salad sandwich, which was enormous but light, and plenty juicy without being sloppy; the braised short rib, seated on a bed of wild mushroom risotto that I'll be thinking about for weeks to come. We also shared the garlic bread rolls, which were so fluffy buttery! The service was prompt and very friendly, the servers taking time to check in. We were not the only table with a young child, and it was a very cheerful family-friendly atmosphere with lots of light. There was also a bar for adults dining alone, and for noon on a Sunday it wasn't terribly crowded! The portions were so generous that almost everyone took a to-go box, but the bill was shockingly reasonable! A family of six shared two apps, got five adults and one kids entree and we each had non-alcoholic beverages for just under $140! I knew we would be back after seeing that check and how happy everyone was. Also, there is plentiful parking which is a big factor for downtown Gilbert. I look forward to next time! My husband and I decided to stop in on Mother's Day in the late afternoon for an early dinner. Of course, they were extremely busy with reservations, so we ended up sitting at the bar. We had a small issue initially and ended up speaking with a manager, who was fantastic. They also happened to be running a special where moms received a buy one meal, get one free entrée, so that was a nice surprise for Mother's Day. While waiting for our meals, I ordered an Aperol Spritz. My husband ordered Grandma's Pasta, and I ordered the special, which was some kind of chicken in a wine sauce. I opted for crispy chicken instead of grilled. When my meal first came out, it had grilled chicken, so they had to remake it. The manager came back and even comped us a dessert for the inconvenience, which I really appreciated. Unfortunately, the second time my meal came out, it was still grilled chicken, and it looked overcooked as well. At this point, my husband had already finished his meal while I was still waiting for mine. The bartender apologized again, and they fired it a third time. Thankfully, it finally came out correctly, and it was very good. Despite the issues with my meal, the manager and bartender truly stepped up and took care of us in a big way. Crust is still a favorite in my book because when something goes wrong, they know how to make it right and take care of their customers. I will definitely be back. read more

Took good 15 minutes before anyone approached the table and the service was oh so slow... out of wine bottle listed on the menu. Brought the family here for dinner. The restaurant was busy. There were 2 hosts accommodating guests. The entrance line soon began to pile in the front with other eager guests. There's no sign in sheet which led to a rude guy cutting and was seated before us. The hosts didn't even ask who was next in line. I don't recommend strollers in the restaurant. Every space was tight and not enough room to move around or park. I got the eggplant Parmesan which was delicious 9/10! I wish I had a little bit more sauce though. The spaghetti was decent. The short rib pasta was "short" of meat and more so mushroom. Great flavors. Service was ok. I'd like to come back on a weekday, maybe it'll be better. read more

Came in here for dinner the other night and luckily got a table before the dinner rush swarmed in. Sat inside this time. Love the decor inside the restaurant. Our server was very friendly and prompt. We stopped here last week for dinner on my wife's birthday. Just so you know this restaurant has an absolutely amazing birthday deal if you sign up for the loyalty Club. Not only that but the loyalty club is completely the best one I've ever participated in. You earn rewards so fast with it. My wife ordered the spaghetti and meatballs, her usual, and the meatballs are fantastic. Nice size portion of food, enough for her to take some for lunch the next day. I got the calzone and it was also delicious and huge. Mckenna was our waitress she was friendly and efficient. I have been to this crust location a few times now and it's always good! Never had a bad meal. This time I got the pesto grilled chicken sandwich with French fries and it was really good! The sandwich looked very bready at first, but the bread was incredibly light and fluffy, not dense and heavy. The pesto had good flavor too. I do wish there were more sun dried tomatoes though. The fries were the perfect shoe string crispy fry. Overall had a great lunch with my family! read more

We've been coming here for dinner with family and friends quite often, and the food has always been great. Unfortunately, our most recent visit was disappointing. I made a reservation for a family of four and arrived on time during an early dinner period when the restaurant was not yet full. Because we were dining with a toddler and a baby, I politely asked if we could be seated indoors. There were several empty tables inside, but the hostess insisted that those tables were reserved. When I mentioned that I also had a reservation, her response was dismissive and came across as rude. She seemed annoyed and said, "So what? Do you want to sit outside or not?" The weather wasn't terrible, but with two young children, I had hoped for a little more understanding and flexibility. My husband was upset enough that he wanted to leave, but we stayed to avoid disrupting dinner for our kids. The food was still very good, which is why this experience was so surprising. I would recommend additional customer service training for the hostess staff, as the quality of service should match the quality of the food. read more

The service was absolutely outstanding. Friendly. Courteous, and available. The staff were great. My issue was with the food and general ambience. The ambiance was loud. Concrete floors, tile walls, hard surfaces ensured a noisy environment. Toss in a bunch of screaming children and I think you get the picture. The food was ok. Not great, but ok. Not quite even Olive Garden. I ordered the linguine frutti d mare. 3 clams, 2 muscles, a small handful of rubbery octopus rings, and 3 shrimp. Although I love garlic, finding 9 raw cloves in my meal was pushing it. Also, the concept of Italian bread has eluded this restaurant. The bread served was right from Golden Corral. Been coming here since it opened and it's a go-to spot for pizza for us. The one at Cooley Station is amazing and consistent. We used to love Casanova Brothers but they closed after Covid, and this pizza is very reminiscent of theirs, which is a high compliment coming from me. Prices are reasonable and I've recently taken to getting takeout from them too. Definitely a crowd pleaser. They have a full bar that looks pretty chill if you're into that kind of thing, and the outdoor seating is wonderful in the winter, excellent in the spring, and tolerable on summer evenings early in the season before the night time heat isn't so tolerable anymore. There are not a lot of flies outside at this location for what is worth. Staff is always attentive and nice. It can get busy around happy hour but they are definitely hustling. read more

I would give zero stars if I could! My wife and I were here on a Thursday at 4:30. The place was almost completely empty. Two tables taken, maybe a couple of people at the bar. We were told that we could not have one of the 12+ open tables because we did not have a reservation, and we were only two. We were told we could sit at the bar. We are not 21, we are 40. We like to have conversation with our dinner. We were told that all the empty tables were reserved starting at 6 PM. They could not feed us in :90 minutes? How slow is their service! If you need reservations here, on a Thursday at 4:30, then how about putting that on your website. Seems simple enough. I will do my best to make sure no one I know ever goes here. We will avoid this location, and probably the other ones in the valley, as I assume it is the same ownership and policy.
