I've been here before and it was good, but the service this time was terrible. I was getting lunch with my mom, and we got there right when they opened. I don't know the server's name, but it was a guy with black hair and a little facial hair. You'd think since we were the first customers, the food would come out pretty quick, but it took almost 40 minutes. It doesn't take that long to make a 12-inch pizza and a chicken salad. When my pizza finally came out, it was barely hot. Then about 5 minutes later, the chicken salad came. Like, really? Took 40 minutes to make a small salad. I wouldn't have minded the wait as much if the service was good, but it wasn't. The server barely checked on us, and I had to signal him just to get refills. After we finished eating, we had to wait almost another 20 minutes for the check because our table was getting ignored and I had to signal him again The food is decent, but the service this time was terrible. read more

It's been at least 15 years since I've been to a Grimaldi's location, so when I was at the Kiln a few weeks ago and saw Grimaldi's across the street I made a mental note to try it out next time around. Well, fate delivered as my son had a birthday party at the escape room right next to the Kiln and Grimaldi's, so my wife and I had ourselves a lunch date. There was a 30min wait which was fine and gave us time to wander the shops for a bit. Once inside and seated I noticed the place is quite small and the tables were very close together. The waitresses kept rubbing elbows with me as they walked by between tables...must be a nightmare to serve people in here. Luckily the noise level wasn't too bad and I was able to converse with my wife. I downloaded the app and made an account to get a free appetizer, so we got the antipasto. It was a plate of mozzarella, peppers, two kinds of olives and salami. The bread came on another plate. All the ingredients were fresh and it was tasty. We split 'The Duo' pizza which was pesto + tomato sauce and pepperoni + sausage. I love pesto pizza and theirs did not disappoint. The crust was sturdy enough to hold up the slice but thin enough to have a moderate crunch and not be too doughy and filling. The pizza makers must have it down to a science because 30s too long or 30s too short in the oven would ruin the crust. We both had a pleasant lunch and the food was above average. No real issues with our first adventure here. I suspect though when this place is full at peak lunch or dinner hours it's difficult to hear and move around. If I could choose no stars, I would!! Order placed online gives you an option of ASAP and pick up is an hour. Restaurant was not busy before dinner rush, but told that kitchen is backed up with pizzas. When there are more employees standing around in the restaurant than there are customers, something is definitely wrong with management and staffing!!! Won't be back to this location! read more

My friends and I tried out this Grimaldi's location today for lunch. We ordered the Tuscan Veggie Pizza and added grilled chicken. It did not disappoint!! Very delicious and cooked to perfection The service was outstanding from Gabby, who was cheerful and took good care of us!! We enjoyed the Peach, Strawberry, and Cactus Pear Margaritas. Definitely recommend these!! The ambiance is nice. A relaxing feel with nice seating. I will recommend this place to our friends as well as take our out of town guests here for a fun night out!! read more

We love Grimaldi's Chicago style pizza. There's just something about their sauce that makes me addicted. A delicious thin crust, addictive sauce finished off in a wood fire oven always leaves me wanting more. I have to say the restaurant could be a bit larger to accommodate customers during peak time, but it's in the Santan mall area so they are not able to expand the existing building unless another business near them was to move out. When you enter the restaurant you get an old school Chicago style feeling with enhancements like brick walls and the wood fire pizza oven. The oven is the focal point when you walk into the restaurant. It's visible from the seating area and they make your pizza right in front of you. Off to the right there's a large bar with plenty of seating and during the nice months, they have the garage door rolled up so you can enjoy the beautiful weather. There's also patio seating. When we arrived around 7:30 PM on a Monday night, it was approximately half full. We were seated at an odd table that was near a small pillar by the front door. After dodging a few pizzas from staff on their way out to the patio, I requested to move to one of the other open tables in a lower traffic area. On this trip, we ordered the Mediterranean Salad which came with romain lettuce, tomatoes, red, onions, feta cheese, and their house made vinaigrette. I always ask for extra vinaigrette because I love to dip my crust in it. It is uniquely delicious. There's something about their emulsification process that ensures the dressing doesn't separate. The salad is available in small or large. The small was plenty of food for my husband and I with some leftover to take home. Next time we will get the dressing on the side so we can take it home. Definitely enough salad to feed 3 to 4 people. For our pizza selection we did their seasonal pizza that was recommended to us by our FANTASTIC server Maddie. She said it's her favorite seasonal pizza and she waits all year for it. Wow she was right. It was scrumptious. It came with traditional sauce and pesto sauce. Topped with cheese, pepperoni, and thinly sliced spicy Italian cup sausage. We also ordered Mike's Honey Hot pizza. I love the combination of pepperoni with Mike's Honey Hot drizzle on top. It is my go to when we order Grimaldi's, but I have to say the duo as long as it's available will be my go to instead. I do feel like they charge for anything extra you order. For example, if you wanted Mike's honey hot drizzled on any pizza it's two dollars a side of ranch is an extra charge so there are lots of extra charges, but we still love this pizza parlor! read more

I've written a 5 star review before, today was different. The service was great even though Sasha Had a super busy area. The beer was not as cold as usual. No difference even if you changed brands. The pizza was burnt and we waited at least 45 minutes for it to come out, which I well understand since it was a Friday night. Please. You downgrade your brand when the pizza is burnt. We didn't return it because we didn't want to wait longer. It makes a difference. Do better. We want to frequent your restaurant. read more

Grimaldi's Pizzeria has been my go-to pizza spot for years, and I've visited several of their locations across multiple states. This review is specifically for the SanTan Village location in Gilbert. The pizza was awesome as always. This time we ordered the Exxtra Pepperoni & Hot Honey - Traditional Pizza, and it definitely did not disappoint. The bartender gave us a heads-up that it was very hot, but we found the heat level to be just right. The Caesar salad was also very tasty and a great complement to the meal. I'm giving 4 stars this time due to what seemed like staffing issues. We arrived around 4:30 and noticed quite a few open tables--probably around 25% of the dining area--but were told there would be a 20-30 minute wait to be seated. We ended up choosing to dine at the bar instead since there were seats available. Overall, still a great experience with excellent food, but hopefully the seating situation improves next time. read more

If I gad one complaint it's that it gets too popular and can get real busy. Expect wait times of 30min to an hour on weekends and some evenings if you walk in and do not call ahead. read more

We have been a few times a year since moving to AZ 2016. This time 2/7 they just didn't seem to be firing on all cylinders other than us being seated immediately. The restaurant was about full. We have been at the San Tan Mall location many times where there were long wait times. Not this particular day. Our server was very good and kept checking on us and our order. However, many of the tables were waiting extremely long times for their food despite pizza constantly coming out of the brick oven (we could see every pizza coming out of the oven and being cut). We had an amazing experience and got a pepperoni pizza. We asked for it to be a little more done and it was PERFECT! Service was prompt. We were in and out quickly. At the Grimaldis in Gilbert we went for Saturday dinner service august 30th after placing a reservation with the hostess and gentleman assisting her at 5:09. We were told it's be a 45-1 hr wait with a 45 min wait for pies. We left our reservation and headed to walk around the pavilion at 6:07 we received a message to be seated once placing our orders. We received appetizers and didn't even receive all our pizzas for another 45 mins. After getting our pizzas we are for a total of 15 minutes before being told by the same gentlemen who helped place our reservation "if we would mind hurrying up." He stressed that he had another party with more guests that had to be seated. It was very unprofessional to be feeling rushed especially because he had been waiting on our bill already. He hadn't offered up another table to move to or offer takeout boxes for the table. All in all for the amount of money spent tonight the service wasn't worth it to be rushed. I don't believe in upsetting one guest to please another guest as if that guest who you have been tending has a time limit. We left at 7:15 a little over an hour of service being almost the same amount of time we waited to be seated... then rushed out by hostesses and uncomfortably stared out by the workers. Although if they would have just asked our server they would've known, we'd already asked for a bill and were waiting on at that very moment 7 minutes prior. 0/10 service. read more

Our first time here. I had wanted to eat here after seeing their advertisement at Sky Harbor Airport Terminal 4. We were seated immediately and a server approached us within a minute. Our server was very friendly and cheerful. We ordered beverages and they were brought to us within a few minutes. We ordered an appetizer and a 12" pepperoni and mushroom pizza. We had the appetizer within 5 minutes and the pizza soon followed as we finished our appetizer. The pizza was perfect! We loved the crust. The sauce, pepperoni and mushrooms were also delicious. I had requested a lunch special and I wanted to upgrade the house salad to Mediterranean salad. There were items on the house that I am allergic too. They refused- offered to remove the toppings that I was allergic too and replace them with the ones from the Mediterranean salad at .75$ a topping. Zero customer service. If they were able to up charge the toppings they could have substituted the salad. read more

We went here for dinner tonight. We went early and the wait for 2 was still 45 minutes. The guy and gal when we walked in were not too friendly. While waiting for our table two people came in asking for their table. The staff said they were too late and they would have to be put at the bottom of the list, it was their policy. The guy complained and they were out at the top of the list and taken straight to a table. The food was good and fresh. The outdoor seating was closed which was too bad as it was a super nice night. The restaurant overall needs some remodeling. It is looking old inside. read more

I tell her I don't want the spices or the extra parmesan put on top of the pizza just sauce and cheese. She informs me that they don't do that. I didn't want to correct her maybe I was wrong. The food wasn't the best at all the pizza had too much sauce and the sauce wasn't even good, and the people making the pizza were not wearing gloves they had straight hands all over your pizza. The margarita pizza had way too much water in it. It became a soggy mess in 5 minutes. I could put the cloth against the pizza to absorb the majority of the clear liquid. I'm not sure if they make the sauce raw here or have canned tomatoes, if canned, they never drained them before putting it on the pizza. I went here after doing some shopping at santan mall. I was not very impressed. Pricing was one of my top concerns. My friends and I went here just for a quick pizza. We wanted to share a 14 inch pizza- half sausage half spinich. The toppings were an extra fee and the price for each topping was the same no matter if it was for half of the pizza or the whole thing( 1/2 sausage +$4, 1/2 Spinich +$2). We ended up spending nearly 30 dollars for one pizza, that seems outrageous given it wasn't much bigger than a personal pizza you can get for 12 dollars out at a build your own pizza place. Service was good, waiter at the bar was great, just wish they would reconsider how they priced their toppings as it makes it a very hard place to eat out with friends and share! read more

Been waiting to try this place for a while. We're new to the Phoenix area and are always looking for good pizza. My Wife and I love a good thin crust pie, so when we heard the place had great thin crust we decided to try it. Daisy was our bartender and she was awesome, always making sure we had everything we needed. On to the pizza. It was very good. Good sauce, great crust, excellent meats, mushrooms and olives. Calling it a thin crust, though, is an understatement. It's actually too thin. It was so thin, it got a little soggy in a matter of minutes. It didn't take away from the overall flavor, or our experience, but it's just a little too thin. I'm sure we'll be back. read more

Grimaldi's at San Tan Village in Gilbert is our favorite Tuesday date-night destination. The pizzas are great. We like adding onto whatever pizza we get (often "the Don"), ricotta cheese plus fresh basil at the end. Yum. We enjoy sitting at the bar, indoors or outside, always very accommodating, fun chatting with others at the bar, keeping an eye on a game on TV, and especially the half-off wine. Worst time at Grimaldis... walked in and asked for a table with a high chair and the host and manager turned their backs to me and looked where they could stick us... got seated us in the invisible zone apparently because the host never came back with menus... I had to go get those... and luckily they just stack them by the host table because there was no host. The manager walked by multiple times in the 15 minutes that nobody came to take our order or bring us menus and he never asked how it's going or if he could help.... He was too busy chatting with staff. The waitress finally came when the host decided to tell her she sat us in her section. The waitress was great and took good care of us. I didn't get her name but she had long hair and a few tatts. The pizza was great but it's sad that a few bad apples can ruin a place like this. They are definitely not family friendly.
