After a disappointing trip to another nearby restaurant where we were never actually able to order any food, we were lucky and blessed by an awesome meal at a very high class restaurant in Opus. We have been here a few times for meals and birthday parties in either groups or as a small family and each meal has been fantastic. Service has always been terrific and cordial. Our waitstaff experience has really been exemplary and we look forward to that kind of service and use our experience here as a baseline for which to compare other restaurants. On our most recent visit, we had quite possibly the very best scallop entree we ever had on the island and certainly almost anywhere on planet earth. It was served as a special on that night but I truly hope it becomes a mainstay. I always look forward to the next meal we have when coming to Opus. First time coming back to this steakhouse since they changed from One North to Opus Steakhouse several years back. The appearance is very classy and open concept. You can see into the kitchen from the main dining area. The restaurant has a pre-fixie dinner special Sunday-Wednesday for three courses (appetizer, entree with a side and dessert). Within the menu there are some choices for an upgrade price in the appetizer and entree categories. I got the spicy tuna crispy rice sushi, skirt steak with potato pave, creamed spinach and the creme brûlée. The spicy tuna crispy rice had a nice balance of flavor and texture. The skirt steak was seasoned nicely and I enjoyed the potato pave with thin layers of crisp potato. The creamed spinach was flavorful and complimented the steak well. The size of the sides are easily sharable. The crème brûlée was the perfect ending to the meal. Creamy, just enough sweetness and delicious. I appreciated that there were options for mocktails there too since I'm currently not drinking at the moment and can enjoy a nice fancy drink. They were about $10 each and had some interesting options. I got the orange beauty which was almost like a tequila sunrise look without the alcohol. It was very tasty. Came in to Opus for the first time a few weeks ago for my friends dads birthday. The restaurant is beautiful and has elegant lighting around which I really enjoyed. The place was full of people which is always an awesome sign! We started with drinks and I don't remember the name of mine but it was a lemonade drink which was so delicious. For starters we got burrata which was sooo creamy and delicious- spread perfectly on their warm bread. The calamari's had pieces of fried shrimp in it which was such a nice surprise. It came with a delicious creamy sauce that paired so well with the crispy calamari. We also had a greek cheese app which was good but definitely not my favorite, but everyone else at the table loved it. Soon after the apps, we were brought our delicious entrees. I ordered the ribeye steak cooked rare and it was done perfectly. I ordered it with a side of truffle butter... this steak melted in my mouth. Perfectly seared on the outside with an outstanding flavor all around. Every bite was wonderful. Others at the table had scallops, fish and the filet mignon. They all only had good things to say. I was so full but after all that deliciousness I needed something sweet! I started dessert with an espresso martini which was perfectly strong and tasty. I got the creme brûlée with chocolate gelato. The creme brûlée was huge! But I couldn't not finish it, right? Each bite was more delicious than the next and the chocolate gelato was a perfect addition- so smooth and rich in flavor. Another failed attempt for the Scotto restaurant group! One day they might realize it takes more than a nice building to make a good dining experience! The fact they "think" they compete with the likes or Bryant & Copper, M Rothmans or P Lugers is a joke. The caliber of meats they serve certainly isn't top notch. Another horrible experience last evening during New Years. I was served a well done steak after asking for a medium. Next up was a brand new RAW 4 minute replacement which they offered to Refire that came back totally uneatable. So after the 3rd apology they felt it proper to leave in front of me for the duration of our meal to stare at. Lack of attention to details not too mention I couldn't get a refil on my water if I was breathing sand. This is why since the worst dinning experience at Rare 650 I never went Back to another of Scottos places and I'll certainly never again. Run don't walk to the so many better steakhouses on Long Island. Happy 2025 Update since my last horrible Scotto steakhouse experience.... Compared to restaurants like Prime, Opus missed the mark for us. While the food was quite good, I'm removing a star for a couple of reasons: like almost all reviews stated here the service needs improving. All of the staff are kind, especially our waitress, but way too many wait times. They acknowledged and apologized which I appreciate of course but if you have to continuously apologize and almost all your reviews complain about the same issue...‍ The bus boys kept coming over and saying "let me refill that bread for you"-- you end up filling up on the bread by the time your apps or dinner arrive. The NY strip was not as good as Prime's I'm told. Also it was more expensive. The Mac and cheese as well- not as good. My branzino was amazing- literally one of the best fish dishes I've had and the rice was *chef's kiss*. Hummus appetizer was definitely good and tasted really bright and fresh. The inside is beautiful I must say and you can tell there's a lot of attention to detail. I just think it's really overpriced and there are just as many steakhouses with more affordable prices and less wait times. It was also my s/o's birthday and I noted that on my Open Table reservation. No one acknowledged it at all (as you can see from cake photo) yet we saw plenty of people getting sung happy bday with a candle on their cake. Waiter was very good, support wait staff seemed new and confused I.e food server served wrong dishes to wrong ppl, man came to pour coffee we didn't order etc. Bread should be upgraded and served warm. Overall food was good. Nothing you would need to back for. Having a regular menu and a price fixe menu is very confusing and a side note on price fixe- why does only steak come with a side? I normally don't eat pork but I decided to have a cheat night and I got the pork chop. It was tasty but I definitely prefer my ribeye over the pork chop. The ambience and decor is really formal and pretty! We immediately got sat for our reservation which is great! The dining area is huge and it seemed around 70% full throughout the night. We had a large party so I understand if dishes would take a long time but when we received our oysters, we didn't have any utensils to eat it with so we just sat there waiting After the oysters, we waited even longer for appetizers to arrive and we were so hungry at that point. If you like to frequent large, hip establishments then Opus is for you. There is plenty valet parking, courteous hosts and a beautiful bar and dining room. The decor is truly top notch and this place is huge. Sitting at the bar is cool because you can watch people coming and going. It's very open and the drinks are potent. They also have an excellent wine list. Dinner is an experience- especially if you get the right waiter. We had Fabio (yes, Fabio) and he was a riot. Literally. He's also a stand up comedian. Nevertheless, I hope he never quits his day job because he made our experience so special. From his descriptions to his suggestions to his follow up... everything was on point. That spinalis steak is AAA1 yum ! Never had this cut before and it is a winner!!! Tender and flavorful will have your mouth watering at first bite. I'm a baked potato gal and you don't see it on many menus these days (disappointingly) but they do it right. The brussel sprouts and creamed spinach and cauliflower al get honorable mention. The classic wedge salad was crisp and bright & fresh as well. I cannot find a bad thing to say bout this experience. read more

Dining at Opus Steakhouse in Plainview last night felt like walking into a beautifully reimagined memory. Decades ago, this space was known as the Main Maid Inn--an old Quaker mansion turned cozy, dimly lit pub, all 70s charm and dark wood. It's where I had my wedding reception 42 years ago, so stepping through the doors again stirred more than a few emotions. Gone are the small nooks and vintage vibes. In their place stands a stunning, modern steakhouse that's as sleek as it is luxurious. The second floor has been opened up, making room for an impressive, glass-encased wine loft that hovers above the dining area like a jewel box. Italian marble stretches across the massive oval bar, and to the left, a sushi bar adds a contemporary twist. It's upscale without being stuffy, and comfortably elegant. The food? Very good--and priced to match. Our table of five shared two massive porterhouse steaks that were cooked to perfection, along with classic steakhouse sides: creamy spinach (an absolute standout), mushrooms and onions, and fries. Appetizers included zucchini flowers stuffed with crabmeat--slightly salty but otherwise delicious--and a standout fried softshell crab. Big clams were excellent, the Caesar salad just okay, and the oysters got a thumbs up from Francesco. Dessert stole the show: a special glazed donut filled with crème brûlée and paired with vanilla ice cream. A decadent, unnecessary delight--and I regret nothing. Service was a bit of a rollercoaster. At times, it was attentive and warm, with even a second server checking in. But then it fell off a cliff--empty wine glasses, long waits for the check, and a disappearing act when it came time to leave a tip. A little more consistency would have elevated the whole experience. That said, I'd absolutely return--just with the understanding that this is a special occasion kind of place, where dinner will likely run around $200 per person. "It started in the parking lot......." After we parked and began walking to the entrance, we were told "in order to self-park, we had to park down the block". (I left the car where I had parked it). Then we were seated in the middle of the bar....incredibly loud. We (a party of three couples) requested to be moved and were put in the middle of a room with large (and very loud) parties. Then we were told to "hurry up with ordering " as they expected a large crowd. The Lobster bisque was cold...I sent it back and asked for hot bisque....it came back cold again. The steak was room temp as best and was supposed to come with mashed potatoes, which it did not. (Although the house special steak for $250 was coincidentally served nice and hot). The large ($250) seafood tower was a major disappointment. But to top it off, when the tab showed up, surprisingly we were charged close to $80,for several drinks that we never ordered or received. When we brought this to the servers attention, he didn't hesitate to remove the eroneous charges (apparently because he got caught) We had visited this restaurant numerous times in the past and knew it would be costly. But when you spend nearly $1,700 for dinner, you expect to have a relaxing and enjoyabe experience. SImply, it was not. And a follow up email to their management was ignored. read more

Wow! This place is phenomenal. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by valet, the coat check, and the hostess. Once seated, the wait staff were so friendly and our server was very knowledgeable and recommended his favorites. He was very attentive and ensured everything was perfect from our appetizer, to our entree, to our desert. The tomahawk was to die for, once it came out it was cut up in front of us served on a sizzling board. The mac and cheese was our favorite side, but the creamed spinach was good too. Well, the Scotto Brothers strike again! Opus has been open for awhile, but this was my maiden voyage with them. I organized a dinner for 8 people and was greeted promptly upon my arrival. As the first person there, I took advantage of their impressive bar. The bar spanned more space than most restaurants' dining areas. It was hugged by booths on each side and lit (on a gloomy day) by the floor to ceiling windows that spanned the perimeter. I sat in one of their (extremely comfy) bar stools and was immediately approached by a bartender. She handed me a menu, told me of some drink specials unique to Opus, and then placed a napkin and glass of ice water with a lime wedge. Nice touch, Opus! I ordered a whiskey neat and greeted my friends as they joined me at the bar. THE GROWS: When perusing the spirits menu, there was no listing for Macallan, which is my usual choice. Instead, I ordered a Glenlivet 12yr which was adequate, of course. After chatting with the bartender, she told me "Oh we have Macallan." Perhaps I should have asked, even though I didn't see it on the menu. Either way, would be nice to know which brands and ages are available in their entirety. THE GLOWS: Most of us chose to partake in their $59 prix fixe menu. I opted for the crab bisque (the soup of the day), the Wagyu shoulder tenderloin served with potato hash, cheesecake and coffee. The restaurant includes coffee, tea, espresso as part of the deal. I know of no other restaurant that does that. As an avid coffee drinker, this made me extremely happy. Our server was very familiar with the menu and exhibited patience working with eight women, all with different "asks" and palates. My steak was cooked to the perfect medium rare temperature I prefer and the potato hash dazzled me more than I expected. Dessert wasn't merely "cheesecake"--it was mascarpone cheesecake. Our server came out with a large French press filled with strong, hot coffee. A delightful finish to a satisfying meal. Opus piqued my curiosity enough to warrant another visit. This will definitely be in the restaurant "rotation" for me. read more

We had a great meal from top to bottom: drinks were well made ...chicken (delicious), filet mignon ( cooked perfectly), plenty of sides ( all great) and a mouse cake and panna cotta w/berries for dessert (both great). We went out for a celebration dinner for my godson's high school graduation. The shrimp and oysters were very fresh. Calamari were pretty good, bit hard. Flavorful fried bits mixed in, peppers, etc. Cocktails were creative and wine selection was favorable. My husband ordered ny strip and mashed potatoes. He struggled with getting the right color. Holy smokes. If you're looking for a new and exciting embellishments to add to your steak, this is the place! My fiancé and I dined at Opus last night to celebrate our anniversary. We are big fans of the Scotto restaurants but haven't made the trek to Jericho until last night. So glad we finally came! First off, the ambiance is so unique and modern. I have never seen a restaurant with such a feel to it on Long Island. You usually see this type of restaurant in the city. It truly is gorgeous! I started off with a Cosmopolitan and fiancé had a beer. Of course, pricey, but truly delicious! For appetizers, we splurged and tried the seared wagyu and pineapple bacon slab. Of course, wagyu is pricey, but this was our way of trying the $185 slice of tender meet as an introduction. When the menu read "seared table side" for the wagyu, I had no idea that WE would do it ourself - it was actually really fun! Wagyu tastes best when rare and you'd be surprised how quick it took to cook the meat - I'm talking seconds! The bacon was seared right in front of us and was absolutely delicious. As our entree, we opted for the porterhouse for two. Our favorite! When looking at the menu, I was floored with the amount of embellishments we could add. Dirty martini butter, truffle butter and Gorgonzola butter are some of the unique add-ons we noticed. Apparently, the dirty martini butter tastes like vodka! I stayed with my usual house steak sauce (great but had a weird after taste) and my fiancé tried the horseradish sauce. Our steak fries were not the usual steak fries we know. They were more like potato wedges, which was fine, but my expectations were a little different. Porterhouse was of course delicious. I will say, though, that it was slightly drier than other porterhouses we've tried. Usually, there's enough juice under the meat to scoop up with a spoon, but unfortunately, that was not found in ours. For dessert, I had the Haagen Daz ice cream and our waitress bought our a celebration sparkler candle which was a nice touch. While we're still doing a "Tour de France" of the different Scotto restaurants, we will be sure to return here at some point. read more

Do not miss the opportunity. We had landed at MacArthur Airport coming in from Florida. We got a recommendation from the hotel to try this restaurant. I am not easily impressed, and I am generally somewhat critical. Opus really blew me away. The cuisine, of course, was excellent, but so was everything else. I have managed my own business for over 50 years and have a keen appreciation for good management. This has got to be one of the best run enterprises that I have ever encountered. Everyone, starting with the receptionist and going through the wait staff to the bus boy were just superb. Whoever owns this is really trying to achieve a high standard of excellence. What can I honestly say, we showed up for our 8pm reservation and were promptly seated at 8:45pm. Tim the manager did his best to save the sinking ship by serving us the best 600 day dry aged Iberia ham. The sushi was amazing as well as most of the apps. Where the steakhouse seemed to lose there way was cooking a new dish that was clearly out of the realm of their expertise.... Steak. Considering this is a relatively new food, we can understand how they brutally under cooked then over cooked the steak. Thank god for Sammy our waiter who saved the day. Absolutely excellent service in the face of Satan himself. After we shoveled down our cold side dishes with our raw sent back steak we were fortunate enough to have them double charge us for our bottles of wine. It's fine the price correction only took an additional 30 minutes. Tim was amazing but in the face of pure evil in the kitchen, he vanished. Most likely to save all the women and children to have to endure what they were able to do to a steak. Im currently on my way to my church to pray for the cows that were needlessly murdered, and thrown in the garbage after the massacre that was done to them tonight. Our server Matthew was honest with his recommendations and I have to say that opus should have their staff taste their menu. His recommendations were on point from his experience. As my fiancé stated; this place is good as a tapas. The appetizers were delicious and Matt's drink recommendation was on point. Those who have a sweet tooth won't be disappointed with desert. The main dining area is very beautifully decorated, and there is a private room on the second floor. Food is fairly good in general, not many disappointments. The only one dish I would not recommend is seafood platter. The size of oysters is considerably small for its price of $70. The jumbo shrimp is very chewy like plastic. The service is attentive but just a little slow. Therefore, you need to expect at least 2.5 hour long sit-down-dinner for a complete set of appetizer, entrees, and dessert/ coffee. The reason I give 2 stars is because everything is surely overpriced including liquor. All dishes charge at Manhattan price.
