Waiter sends over 3 of the same side dish, because 3 people ordered the same entree, and then argues that we all said we were having the same thing. We ordered the same entree, not the same side, which was enough for 3 people, not the nine people he brought and charged for, an then argued that's what we ordered, before agreeing to remove 2 of the sides. Then he brings the dessert menus when one person was still finishing their entree. They also somehow failed to give "Good Life" rewards credit 3 times in a row eating there. Management is clueless. Sunday dinner .. an hour and a half drive there and back to meet friends and it was FANTASTIC. Upon entering it was a grand opening, the bar beautiful and spacious left above was their entire wine stored through clear glass BEAUTIFUL. I also loved the open kitchen .. the hostess was sadly a young inexperienced person who needs training. Walking to our table there are booths that would sit 4 comfortably. Their tables in the dining room were spacious and sat with white linen and silver cutlery. Beautiful. We went with their Sunday 3 course and it did not disappoint. Ordered their ceasar salad delicious. Also ordered (extra) their tuna appetizer and that was OUTSTANDING. I ordered their squid ink pasta with shrimps in a red sauce it KNOCKED my socks .. my husband ordered the wagu tenderloin and it also delicious. My party also ordered the branzino and they said it was fresh and seasoned beautifully. We ordered 3 glasses of Silver Oak ($45.00 a glass) 8 oz. OUTSTANDING. Now mind you the 3 course dinner was $60.00 and our wine was more .. it was well worth it!!!! For dessert we all ordered the panni cote. It was light and beyond perfect. Service was on point. We came to opus last August and absolutely loved it. They had a wide range of snake river farms steak options and they were great. We recently went back with high expectations because of our last experience, and we were completely let down. Unfortunately they took the snake river farms off the menu and replaced them with an overcooked+fatty+ low quality steak. When we asked about the SRF steaks now off the menu, they lied and told us they still were. The manager was uninterested and rude. We won't be coming back. One North is the regrettable result of what happens when the Scotto Brothers suck all the life from the charismatic Main Maid Inn that occupied the building beforehand. I'll be the first to say that I'm a big fan of Fox Hollow and Rare650, but they just missed the mark here. For starters, the "background" music is waaaay too bass-y, especially for an early dinner. I get that they're probably going for the Novita vibe, where a late dinner can linger into some cocktails in a nice lounge vibe, but this isn't a nice lounge vibe. Everything's been whitewashed here, and, when combined with the blue LED lighting, screams more "tacky bar-mitzvah" than it does "classy Mediterranean." The other reviewers calling this place "Hamptons chic" must not have ever been to the Hamptons. Service isn't any better. Apparently they don't like when you arrive early and just sit idly waiting for the rest of your group. Rather, they ask you to sit at (not wait by, but SIT AT) the bar. Of course, to the bartender's credit, he was very quick to walk over, point up at their generous wine selection, and offer me a glass (prices starting at approx $18). There's also a mandatory coat check, but I'm not going to ding them for that, because that keeps things from getting to cramped inside and also helps with the upscale feel they're trying to uphold. Two stars go for the food here. Although quite expensive (about $80-$100 a head before drinks), our entrees were good. So if you're into the latest and greatest, then stop by and form your own opinion. For us, (and living in NYC), there are too many better options, both in our neighborhood, and in Nassau County, so we won't be coming back to One North until they fix this place. read more

I had such high expectations for this restaurant. There is horrible service here and such a long wait to receive the food. I could not even here the waiters voice when he was saying the specials of the day. They even charged me for something I didn't even order. The waiters spilled glass over the floor and the glass landed on my foot. I waited over an hour to receive my check. Such a high volume of people and little staff to help. The go to side's are whipped potato (good with garlic) and truffle mac and cheese, which is rather rich and plain. We like it, though. Drink wise the lavender mule is good! The sea bass and rigatoni was very popular from our family. The steaks and I think truffle Mac and cheese are must orders. I was most excited about the octopus but I think that was okay. The fish is the star here, with the prawns getting top-billing for the show. Sea bass was a close second. We couldn't bring ourselves to order steak here, but heard it's fantastic. When you dine at a place with a charcoal grill, life is good. I would have liked to see the charcoal grill, an open (charcoal) kitchen format would have been a nice touch. As well as a presentation of the proteins pre-cooking for a nice show. We happened to dine on a perfect weather night on the border of inside and outside, it was spectacular. We thought it would be a quiet, secluded evening, however ended up bumping into several friends and acquaintances. The resturant itself is absolute gorgeous, probably the nicest interior of any resturant in Long Island. Amazing night with friends. We started off with salad & crab cake. We shared a Seafood platter that was delicious. All our dinners were so fresh. Honestly, a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. I had previously been here for an event and had a wonderful time then and the food was quite good. Skipping to dinner however, almost everything was burnt to a crisp. We ordered the octopus for an appetizer, and it was entirely charred and inedible. It was also served a top what looked like 3 day old shredded cabbage and tomatoes that were wilted and soggy. The crispy tuna we ordered tasted as of the crispy rice had been made hours ago and was soggy. Then skipping to the $98 wagyu strip we ordered medium rare and what we got again was a burnt to the crisp steak! We heard so much about One North that we decided to celebrate our anniversary there. When I first arrived I realized this location was the location Maine Maid Inn. The restaurant was completely renovated in an elegant upscale contemporary design. The space is huge compared to the other Scotto restaurants that I have dined at. They have an elevated glass enclosed wine cellar that is visible from every part of the restaurant. They also have a few gas fireplaces along with an outdoor patio. I believe this is that largest restaurant I have ever dined at on Long Island. Their menu has a Mediterranean flair with Italian touch. They have an extensive seafood selection that includes many of your favorite fish. They also provide some of my favorite Greek foods such as grilled octopus and barrel-aged feta cheese. We started the evening with cocktails and appetizers that were all very good, then we both ordered our entrée's. My dish the Farroe Islands Salmon was presented cooed perfectly. My partner ordered the African lobster tail which was very good but it was only one tail and the cost of the dish seem to be excessive. Also the escarole side we order was a very small portion. Other Scotto restaurants that I have dined at did not seem to present small portions of anything that we would have ordered. If one were to peruse through my Yelp dining experiences, one would note that I am not new to fine dining. Overall, I loved and I am glad that we finally dined at One North. Came here for a pharm rep dinner with my coresidents. From looking it up prior i was under the impression they were known for their steak and seafood so I ordered the steak. They also had jumbo shrimp as appetizers. The shrimp was delicious and massive. The steak was disappointing because while it was made medium like I wanted, the outside was not cooked properly and did not have that crunch I was expecting. My colleagues who had the fish dishes from their menu on the otherhand said it was really good so maybe fish was the way to go with them. I went to One North about a week ago with my mother. We'd never heard of the place before, but we recieved 2 $40 coupons in the mail so we figured we'd try them out before they expired. The atmosphere was very nice. The restaurant is very fancy. However, when we arrived we were seated in the corner of the restaurant by the kitchen, even though there were many open tables since it weaseling late. We didn't make a big deal of that though. We both ordered the Grilled heritage chicken Milanese because it was one of the cheaper entres, and because we didn't fully read the description and thought it would be a pasta dish. All things considered pound-for-pound, Opus might be the best steakhouse in all of Long Island. If its not number one, it's absolutely top three. From the decor and ambiance through your last bite, it's a 5-star experience. The staff is friendly, warm and accommodating. The food, of course, is the real gem of it all. Appetizers wise we had west coast oysters, pineapple slab bacon, pepper crust wagyu steak ends, 600 day dry aged prosciutto, calamari and tuna sashimi dumplings. Each and every single one of those are highly recommended in my book especially the bacon, calamari and steak ends. As for the mains, we all enjoyed a steak of our choice. I had a perfect tempered NY Strip while others enjoyed the Rib-Eye or Porterhouse with sides of truffle mac, potato and shallot hash, whipped potatoes, brussel sprouts and mushrooms. I left very full after sharing these four dishes with my partner. Service was great to start with, as we were the first few folks to start off the dinner rush. At the end, We opted to enjoy some single shot espressos to finish off the experience, which I would advise against as it tacked on an additional 30 minutes of our wait time paired with paying the bill. By this time of course, things were hopping and every table was filled. Any other time I probably wouldn't have minded waiting a bit and enjoying the company of my partner, but we had plans to get to a show and didn't realize this was a bad move on our part. Thus my advice would be to plan accordingly especially if its busy and just swing by a local coffee joint instead. Second time having dinner at Opus. The food was not great and inconsistent for our party of 4. I ordered a Caesar salad with the salmon as an add on. The salad was very overdressed and mushy and the salmon although had a nice crispy skin the fish was mushy in the middle. It was too dark to see if it was undercooked. The service was not good either. I told the waiter I was allergic to shrimp and we ordered the fried calamari for the table as a starter and he didn't tell us it had shrimp in it. He comped the appetizer and a glass of wine to make up for it. Thank God my friend noticed the shrimp just as I was helping myself to some. I didn't notice the shrimp because it was dark and our heat lamp kept going off. She already had it in her plate. Went to Opus for my birthday with two other couples. Very expensive, but everything is phenomenal. For appetizers we ordered Oysters, Fried Calamari, Bacon Slab, Sliced Wagyu on a hot stone, Cesar salad, and a sushi roll. Everything was exceptional. For our entrees we got the Tomahawk Steak for 2 rare on the hot stone (next time I would get it off of the hot stone, because it continues to cook and is not as rare when you get toward the end of the meal), surf and turf, skirt steak, filet Mignone, and Bronzini. Everybody loved everything. I would definitely go back for another special occasion. Too pricey for just your average night out. read more
