We have NEVER had reliable internet service from Opticaltel. They are by far the absolute worst service provider I have ever encountered, and I deal with ALL of them in my profession. Unfortunately, they are our only option for internet/TV in our complex. Over the past 5 months, our internet service goes out in the entire building at least twice a day, at nearly the same times every day, sometimes outages are at random times. The residents complain but progress is never made, and the problem persists. I have reports from serviceuptime.com (a monitoring service that checks your internet connection every 3 minutes from servers located around the world) that show every single outage over the past 5 months. It is beyond frustrating that we cannot get a measly 15Mb stable internet connection in our apartment. Their explanation is that some type of interference being introduced on the RG11 coaxial cable that is running into the building. Nearly 6 months and they cannot fix it or identify it. All the modems connected to our building go down at the same time. I have verified this with my neighbors. Do yourself a favor, and if you're thinking about moving into a home or apartment that has Opticaltel service, just find another place to live. My HOA has had it for about a year and I can't get anyone on the phone at Opticaltel, my internet doesn't work on one TV, you can't access Netflix directly and the internet for the entire house goes out daily in the evening. After my review posted the company decides to address my lack of internet. All the calls I made evidently didn't convey my need to have service restored. Evidently one must post a review so whoever is monitoring the Yelp posts can see that someone isn't getting what they are paying for. This is the worst internet company I've ever had to deal with, not only their "technical" support is incompetent, they don't even know the products and services offered by the company they work for and being rude at the same time doesn't help their cause. I turned in my boxes going on five months and I have called regarding the refund of my $450.00 deposit over six times and I never receive an answer. Today I will be filing a complaint with Miami Dade County, State of Florida and the BBB. Worst cable company we've ever had. Our community changed over to this. Cable and WiFi shut down often. They are Always working on fixing it. Customer service never can help. Our channels are not what they say. We get MIAMI SPORTS ON FOX SPORTS INSTEAD OF THE CORRECT TAMPA SPORTS. Just purchased a home at a community where the only provider is Opticaltel. Never crossed my mind to check for internet provider accessibility... Lesson learned, Their best internet performs at DSL speeds at busy hours, costs more than the fastest AT&T Internet which is 10 times faster (literally), I'm forced to pay (I work from home) for their internet which is not even included with the HOA bulk service (just cable and landline) however no other provider is allow on the community (Thanks FPMS) read more

I truly wish 0 stars was an option. I have been living in a development that uses these crooks for five years and am ended up paying for outside internet. There are constant outagesnfor hours sometimes days at a time. I have been told over 15 times a serviceman will come to try and help yet i've never seen or heard from one. I am lucky to get 20% of the advertised speed. This company refuses to support wifi routers. They are happy to drill holes and install LAN ports all over your home, how conviennent, and they will not support wifi. It is my belief the company punishes those using wifi by putting limiters and restrictions on the line to the wifi router. I don't understand how the owners are not in prison for theft and fraud. Please help eliminate this company for good. *to those employees i understand yoy have families to support and do yourselves a favor. Look for work elsewhere. 'OpticalHELL' is the absolute worst company. Our community contracted with them and our TV is constantly pixelating and the sound drops. You can't watch. The internet is great when it works, but it drops all the time. Not a good thing when everyone is working from home and kids are trying to use distance learning. Phone service is not reliable. Most of the time I cannot use my home phone to call 'OpticalHELL' for service (if you can call it that). Their 'service' is non existent. Every time I call i am #? In queue. When I explain the problem they either tell me that engineering is working on it and they will call me back ( I have NEVER received a call back ) or that there is a note in the file that the problem is the station is broadcasting with pixelization and sound drop and there is nothing they can do about it. Oh, BTW, Comcast does not have the same problem with that station. I am SICK of the the BS with this company. Anyone thinking of using this company... DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!! The community just switched from Hot Wire Fusion to Opticaltel. They had made arrangements to tell all residents about what they offer. I do not know the Board of Directors looked at other companies. During the presentation, they explained fiber optic service. They started installing their system in Jan. 2018 and partially finished in Sept. 2018. The TV service is included in our maintenance fee monthly. They came back to sign people up for other services, telephone, internet, and additional channels. I preordered HBO and Showtime. When they met with us to sign up HBO was if I remember correctly $12.95 and Showtime was $12.95. Internet $25.00. No one called me to set up an installation appointment. The technician was good except he did not review how the features worked nor the remote. This is a Senior Community and the older residents are not tech savvy. They did not hook up my additional items because I did not pay upfront which I was never told. They hooked me up Sept. 16 for TV only. They took on a large Community with over 1000 apartments and villas. On Sept. 26 I paid them for the additional services and they charged me $19.95 for HBO and $16.95 for Showtime. The paperwork that we were given said IF YOU BUNDLE. TWO ITEMS IT WII BE $20.00. Well, you can see why I am mad. They also charged me $25.00 for the internet connection because the installer wasn't allowed to install it because I didn't pay so my neighbor let me use her credit card, they would not accept it because it wasn't in my name. So for the past week until Oct. 2. I have to go to the cafe at the clubhouse to use the internet, check my mail, messages, etc. I am awaiting hip replacement surgery and I haven't been going to the clubhouse because I live on the second floor and I had a different provider and did not have to walk up and down 16 steps. Now every day I go to the cafe from about 10:30 am to 5 pm. I use an electric scooter to get around. Like I said earlier they are not living up to what we were promised, they took on a job that they did not realize was going to take so long and we still do not get all the channels we are supposed to receive because they jumped the gun and started us up before they were finished with the installation. NO VIDEO ON DEMAND, MISSING CHANNELS, NO INSTRUCTIONS. I ask you is this the way to run a company by giving us a false presentation. I am going to demand a refund of my $25.00 and the difference between HBO & SHOWTIME. I had my own business and would never go back on my word or change the terms without notification. I hope that when they finally finish our TV and Internet Service installation everything will be straightened out. Thank you Yelp. I received a phone call from one of their representatives Oct.27, and she said there will be no installation harvest for my internet. The price list they gave us is no longer any good because we got it over a year ago, no bundles, HBO $19.95 SHOWTIME $18.95 plus $25.00 for 25g Internet. I used to pay Comcast $207.83 now I will pay only $63.90 plus taxes and communication fees, so I figure my bill will be about $68.00 almost $145.00 savings. Riverbridge-The Landings - Was just installed with Video and high speed internet yesterday (8.13.18). So far everything is great. Install went smooth and tech was nice/professional, took his shoes off when entering the home. Current internet speeds are 180 down and 190 up. Quality of picture on tv is better than what I was getting with my xfinity hd service. I noticed a major difference in quality on my Toshiba HD tv from 2008. The cable boxes being used for my community are labeled "amino". Through the guide you can select a show that is currently in progress, or a show that was on at an earlier time, and start the show from the beginning. You can also fast forward through commercials when taking advantage of this feature. Personally, I like the layout of the xfinity X1 guide better and I enjoyed the voice remote feature, but that is personal preference, xfinity did not offer the feature that I mentioned in the previous sentence and like I mentioned earlier, I feel my picture quality has increased. Another feature I find useful through opticaltel is the ability to only see the channels you subscribe to through the guide. You do have the option to see all channels if you like but I prefer just to see what I subscribe to. Currently video on demand is not available but the customer service agent said that will be coming shortly. So far I am impressed with the speed of internet,quality of tv, and easy installation. I'm giving the service a 4/5 because VOD is not currently available. read more

Today I was told by a Supervisor in the call center, that the upper level management that could assist me have no direct phone lines. They are on the move. They could not provide me an e mail for them. Once again, the entire accounting department was at lunch. They did, however, advise the service rep to tell me to have the post office research where the check may be, that was apparently sent to me on Jan 26th. Their check, their bank, and they want me to track it. They refuse to cancel that check until 30 days has passed, and then we start the process all over again. Yay me!!!!!!!! They said they could not give me an ETA when it would be fixed. Called on Friday and the gal told me she didn't have any record of any work being done in the area so they set up somebody to come out on Saturday. He came out and said they would have to have maintenance come out and put in a new fiber optic cable on Monday. I live in a community that switched to Opticaltel this year. I am on Day 2 trying to get my installation completed. I paid for my WIFI upfront when I called to schedule mu installation. Apparently there was a "System Wide Outage" yesterday which caused my original installation to take 3.5 hours in total. When I called and talked to "Engineering" they could not comprehend what my issue was after more than 37 minutes trying to straighten the issue out, I was told they would have to schedule a service call and their earliest appointment would be Oct 10th. When I told them that was unacceptable could I speak with a Supervisor, I wad put on hold again. Thank goodness the Tech who originally installed the equipment stopped by to see if I was up and running. Still waiting for him to return, had to go obtain a Lap Top so they can "Download" new software, ah this is only the beginning of an already awful experience. What's worse, the internet service or the customer service? I don't know but they both fight to be number 1. I called them so they could fix my internet because at any point in time I can't even stream anything. My internet is intermittent at best. When I called them, the first thing they said was that the problem was on my end. I have a brand new modem and router. The issue is that they take your money for and in return they give you garbage. I am a resident in a community with OpticalTel. Please note that if your community is looking to a fiber optics company, do NOT under any circumstances choose OpticalTel. This company has many outages at all hours of the day and night. They are totally unreliable. To get the contract, they will make promises that they are unable to uphold. They say there is a third party that kicks in when they go down. Lies. Not true. If you call during an outage, you will be put in a queue. If you are lucky, someone might pick up without disconnecting you first and making you call back and start your wait all over again. Many times when I have called (and I do mean MANY times because they are down a lot), I have ended up with someone from the "overflow" call line and those people have no idea what they are doing or what is happening. We have had OpticalTel for about a year. The first 4 months we were down more than we were up. They improved for a while after our community contacted a lawyer. Things were ok for about 6 months. These last 2 months they have reverted back to their old ways. They are constantly having an outage. When OpticalTel has an outage, you lose cable, internet and phone. You are completely separated from any type of communication. If an older person lives alone and has OpticalTel phone service, all 911 communication is down. You do not want to ever be done from 911. OpticalTel's response, they have someone on site working on it. There is never someone on site. Again, lies. No truth. Choose any company besides OpticalTel for your needs. If you choose OpticalTel, prepare for constant outages and many headaches. If you choose OpticalTel, you will be highly disappointed. Here is a record of just the last week with this company. No exaggeration on these numbers. Down Saturday, December 19 for 6.5 hours - starting at approximately 8:45AM Down Sunday, December 20 for 30 minutes Down Monday, December 21 for 20 minutes Down Friday, December 25 for 15 minutes Down Saturday, December 26 for 7 hours - starting at approximately 5:00PM Down Sunday, December 27 for 10.75 hours - starting at midnight, making this outage 17.75 hours Totally unacceptable. read more

Have had service with opticalnet for just over 3 weeks with new install for our HOA. After 1 week dvr stopped working... cannot record new programs and cannot access 100+ hours that have been recorded. 'nDVR Quota shows the recordings are somewhere. Call every other day and call center is polite but never get a callback from engineering or management with any type of solution or real explanation of issue. One of the worst television service providers I have ever experienced. This company based in South Florida provides internet and TV service, mostly through contracts with Home Owner Associations. I am one of the unfortunate ones who is stuck with this service. DVR service does not work at 100 percent. When I call customer service to complain and ask when the issue will be resolved I get cocky attitudes and responses. I have been dealing with this issue for a month now (as of Oct. 2019). 1 Star is being generous. This is the absolute worst internet service I have ever experienced. Unfortunately I live in a community that only offers Opticaltel as Internet....I can't get anybody else in here so I'm at their mercy. The HOA includes a free WiFi, I had to upgrade to a faster service ($50/mo), and upgrade again to an even faster device ($70/mo). I will say when it is working, it's seamless. That being said....the sh*ts down 2-3 days a week. I've bought here pre-const 6 years ago and I have never had a week where the internet hasn't been down. Keep in mind everything is new here, no more than 6 year old equipment....yet every week there is an "outage". That's the only explanation you get from customer service "Sir we have an outage". You would think 6 years later someone would care to investigate why the servers keep shorting out but that would be stupid right? Just keep having outages, keep sending techs out reset the system, while you keep waiting for service. That's their work method. What a piece of crap service and it's amazing HOAs keep using these guys. I only hope ATT or Comcast buys them out...I'll take anybody.
