Build Your Own Bowl w/ Smoke Tofu (Large
    Jo-Anne L.

Decent poke/rice bowls here (and some of the lowest prices I've seen)! I wished they had more than just rice and salad for choices of base, but otherwise the range of offerings for proteins and toppings was ample enough. Portions are super generous - unfortunately they do pack the bowls with rice, but I'd consider it a reasonable ratio of ingredients. The flavours are pretty average - the smoked tofu didn't really taste like anything much - however, they do have quite a variety of sauces to keep things interesting. I particularly enjoyed the honey onion and the spicy mango (of the ones I've tried so far). The food here isn't mind blowing, but for the price point, will give you a nice and satisfying meal. :)

A few months ago we happened to be in toronto for a comedy show at Absolute Comedy and decided to get dinner right across the street at Ono Poke bar. This place is super cute and cozy and also collabs with Coco bubble tea so if you show your receipt for a poke bowl you can get discount for bbt and who doesn't want discounts ?! We got the Wednesday "Spicy Mango" special and a build your own bowl with the Torched Salmon and thoroughly enjoyed our meals! The salmon for both the spicy mango and torched bowls was sooo fresh just how it should be. The rest of the toppings were also generous quantity, fresh and tasty! Their spicy mango sauce was just *chef's kiss* perfect ;) And ofc nothing like some Coco bbt to wash it all down, we got the classic Brown Sugar Milk Tea and my go to the Matcha Macchiato! Overall we had an amazing night with good food, good vibes and some major laughs with the comedy show! Can't wait to go back when soon! Check them out y'all :)

The skewers turned out great, a bit on the cold side (they were probably left off the grill for too long). The bbq sauce was interesting, defintely not the same to the southern style bbq sauces. They also use dark meat, so the skewers were never dry and always juicy. They cooked the skewers in the open charcoal grill. The pit master looked like he was having fun, vibing to the music and looked like everyone (staff and customers) were having a great time! If you see them in the next festival, would recommend to try them out.

I was able to try Liko's BBQ recently at Alohafest at Mel Lastman Square, located in North York. In terms of food items, during the event they were offering 3 items: - Aloha plate lunch (includes Kalua pork, BBQ chicken, beef short-ribs, white rice, and mac salad) - Loco moco - Spam musubi (2 pieces per order) My partner and I opted to get 2 Aloha plate lunches and a spam musubi order. The plate lunch was $18 but boy oh boy...the amount of food that you get in one order definitely made the money worth it. I was not able to finish my portion as well and had to save some for the next day. In terms of the individual items in the plate lunch, everything was cooked well. The marinades on the chicken and short ribs were unique. I probably liked the chicken the best. The Kalua pork was tender where it was delicious with rice. The mac salad had some potato in it and was good as well. The spam musubi was delicious as well. I mean...obviously can't go wrong with spam unless you aren't a fan of it. Overall, a great snack portion. LIko's Hawaiian BBQ was a treat! Hope to be able to purchase food from them again in other events they attend.

As soon as I walked in, I got that warm, beachy vacation-bar energy. We tried the char siu bao, pork belly, chicken wings, beef chuck, and their house-made Spam burger on a Hawaiian bun, along with a kale salad topped with gochujang macadamia nuts. Every dish delivered on flavor, but my favorites were the burger and the kale salad. Happy hour drinks were all reasonably priced, and I loved how they were served in cute glassware. They also had a great selection of local craft beers for $7, which was amazing. As a beer lover, I got to try brews from Dominion, Bellwoods, and Rorschach. I'll probably wait for a menu refresh and come back to try a whole new round of bites--but overall, such a great vibe for happy hour.

While walking near the well, we stumbled upon this bar and decided to go in. When we first asked for a table on the patio, the manager refused, saying it was fully reserved, which was not true. Then, in the ground floor bar area, almost every table was empty except for 1, and he again said everything was reserved. It felt a bit weird, but we agreed to wait. We stood outside in the cold windy night for about 15 minutes while discussing whether to go somewhere else. It had been a long day and we didn't have the energy to start over so we stayed. After a while, the manager returned and offered us a table on the second floor. We accepted, sat down, and ordered a variety of food and drinks, all of which were nice. The servers were great as well. I was left wondering though if we were treated differently because we were dressed casually or for some other reason. Overall, it was an okay experience.

Honestly wasn't the biggest fan of the fried chicken as I found it lackluster. I really enjoyed the aloha burger though. Chorizo burgers are definitely more unique and I really liked the flavor and the grilled pineapple (I will always argue in favour of pineapple on burgers and pizzas). We also ordered drinks and they were not watered down which I appreciate. Overall presentation was A+, great place for a casual date with the girls or your partner.

I decided to get a Blue Hawaii cocktail, which was beautifully presented to me. My friends also enjoyed their cocktails, and the time to wait for a table went by fairly quickly. We decided to share an order of their vegetarian baos, which were pretty good and surprisingly hearty. We asp shared an order of their tempura corn fritters, which were also hearty and tasty. I decided to get their jackfruit fried rice, which was unfortunately pretty lackluster. I felt like it needed something, perhaps more salt or soy sauce. Other than that, we had a lovely meal here and the restaurant itself was beautiful. A fun place to go out to if you happen to be in Toronto.

The island vibes hit you immediately - this would be a great place for an intimate party. We ordered: - The Big Kahuna Burger: the pineapple was a welcome addition to this otherwise pretty standard burger. The crinkle fries were also a good texture. 8/10 - Popcorn Shrimp: saucy yet crispy, great choice for an app. 8/10 - Jackfruit & Spinach Dip: I think the jackfruit was in dried form sprinkled on top of the dip, and we honestly didn't taste the jackfruit at all. 6.5/10 And for drinks, I asked them to surprise me with a mocktail. I got a delicious slightly creamy fizzy banana coconut drink. The bartender mentioned it was something he was working on. I hope it is officially on the menu soon! My partner got the Tokyo Drift - could barely taste the alcohol. If you get one of the larger drinks in bowls, they are served with some surprise flair. Cocktails are definitely the specialty here! Last night we reserved for two specifically in the Tiki Room on their Yelp options. We confirmed the reservation multiple times over text and even messaged we were running a tad behind, when we arrived the hostess working took us to their new Triple Seven Lounge room which is also an option to book on Yelp. I explained we had booked the Tiki Bar, the Triple Seven Lounge was empty and not themed the same, the hostess pretty rudely told us that was all she could give us despite their being an empty table available in the Tiki Room. When we asked about sitting there we were told that they held that table because someone else has a reservation. I explained again that we had a reservation, in the Tiki Room, not the Triple Seven Lounge. The hostess refused to seat us, my partner spoke to a manager and made some progress, but then we were handed back off to the same hostess, who told me I was threatening her when I said that I would post a review detailing they didn't give us our allotted reservation. Very disappointing and impersonal service. We left immediately after being called threatening because we did not want to cause that hostess any harm or unnecessary distress, but will not be back. Careful booking here, they don't value advance reservations. Remove the option to select which room you're in if you're not going to keep to it.

Pokito is a Hawaiian restaurant/take out joint located along Queen St. W. near Spadina Ave (close…read moreto Cameron St.). They've been a staple for poke in the area for years, however, their menu has expanded to include more Hawaiian foods like plate lunches and snacks (like onigiri and spam musubi). I recently stopped by Pokito to pick up take out for dinner as I had stumbled upon a $10 coupon from the restaurant over Facebook. Upon entering, the space is inviting and warm, with wooden accents throughout the space. There are several tables if you'd like to dine in. The menu is large and they also have daily deals as well. In the small fridge display they have a sample of their poke on display along with other items like onigiri, desserts, and drinks. Their poke bowls are likely the most popular items to be ordered but definitely don't skip out on the plate lunches as well! I opted to grab a garlic shrimp scampi plate lunch (tail-on shrimp sauteed in buttery garlic sauce on rice (can choose between white or brown rice) with mac salad and a salad slaw) for $22.50. I did have $10 off my order which was great. If you sign up for their rewards program you also get other deals as well (the next deal I get is 50% off a plate lunch for a limited time!). My order was made fresh which took about 5-10 min. I didn't mind as I just sat down to wait. Service was friendly and efficient. I had my garlic shrimp scampi plate lunch for dinner. Beware that the shrimp is really garlicy and delicious! Just be careful if you need to talk to someone afterwards because they will smell it. The rice absorbed some of that garlic flavour which made the rice even better. The mac salad was great and the salad slaw helped to cut through everything as well. Portions were large and I was full afterwards. Overall, a great place for Hawaiian plate lunches (and I'm sure poke as well!) in the Queen/Spadina area. Definitely will return to try more of their plate lunches as well as poke.

I had the spicy garlic ahi and the original ahi, and the tuna was so fresh I half expected it to still be swimming. It melted in my fat little mouth like it was apologizing for every bad life choice I've ever made. This honestly rivaled poke I've had in Honolulu, which is terrifying because that means I no longer need Hawaii--I can now die broke and mercury-riddled right here at home. The spicy ahi hits hard too. Caucasians, if you've ever cried during a Taco Bell mild sauce packet, you should probably update your life insurance before ordering. My only critique? More sides and toppings. If I'm going to spiral into heavy-metal toxicity, I want to do it with reckless abandon and at least three different crunchy things sprinkled on top. Still, this place is so good I'd happily shave a few years off my life expectancy for another bowl. Who needs retirement when you've got poke like this?
