Food - I had the Kailua pork and it was so juicy and flavorful and went so well with the perfectly cooked rice. I came to use a coupon I received. I wasn't in the mood to dine-in, so, I went through the drive though. It didn't take long for me to place my order. I think there were 3 cars ahead of me. It went by pretty quickly. But, when it came to redeem my coupon, it took a while. The employee was having difficulty redeeming it for some reason, and it was holding up the line. I kinda felt awkward. I was ready to just pay the full amount, so I could keep the line moving. But, she was able to redeem the coupon with the help of another employee. I like the food here yet I've only ever ordered thought drive thru! Tonight is a Saturday took out my big truck which does not fit their drive thru. We arrive in the lobby at 9:30 and wait about 5 minutes with no greeting. By then a girl comes out mad saying the lobby is supposed to be closed that it's only drive thru yet nobody mentioned anything. Parking lot is a little tight since the plaza is consistently busy, but the parking lot is in good condition. Staff is very friendly, organized, urgent, and hard workers. Very hit or miss at this location. I've gotten bad chicken, missing items from order and inconsistent portions. Yesterday my wife drove over 20 minutes to get us dinner and it was absolutely disgusting. Huge chunks of fat in the chicken, undercooked and large bone. I don't know how they served this. When I called they wouldn't do a refund since I didn't have the receipt number. When asking to speak to a manager I was told she didn't work today. So out of all the meals we ordered that day. We didn't care for salad. The drinks were so delicious it tasted just like a nice Shasta or like a carbonated fruit punch. The spam was legit. I would go back to this location and order what I was supposed to in the first place. The reason for the low rating.... The menu was hard to read. They didn't have any of the sauces out line they normally do and we had to ask for everything. Like utensils and napkins. I think this place has potential; customer service was not as good; I feel like they could be more attentive to enthusiastic & friendly customer service, the wait for food was quick for a to-go, the portion size was good for the price, the ambiance of the place was nice, the taste of their food (we ordered chicken katsu 3/5; it was crunchy but the meat was pink & the chicken teriyaki was decent like a 3/5 for taste) the rice didn't seem fresh, but the macaroni was a 4/5 for me. CLEANLINESS AND SERVICE LACKING. While we were waiting for our food to finish being cooked, a lot of homeless people came in to fill their personal water containers with fountain drinks. Due to their water jugs being all different lengths, shapes and sizes, they didn't fit into the fountain space designed for the drinks you buy here. So they proceeded to use their fingers and hands to press all around, put the mouth parts of their personal water containers right up on the tip of the fountain drink, and so on. They also had their personal bags (clearly dirty) set next to and on top of the table where the straws, lids and sauces are stored... All in the clear vision of the staff. When we asked for a refund for our drinks we purchased due to our concerns, we were given attitude and dirty looks by the staff. We ended us swapping for canned drinks from their fridge area. Here's the thing, I'm all for supporting the homeless. I pray for them regularly. However, not only is it unsanitary for ANYONE to do what I saw them do, but there's covid going around, there's monkeypox, not to mention any other germs. You have those plastic walls around the register to protect employees, what about protecting customers? I don't think this was an act of kindness on behalf of the staff. It was just pure laziness. What the staff should have done is walked over to the fountains with cups and filled their drinks for them. Not only would it been kind, as a customer I would've loved seeing it and it would have kept me coming back. We can be kind and clean at the same time, doesn't take much creativity. After we complained a staff member did come and do a basic job of "cleaning" the area... I'm using "cleaning" loosely. read more

I ordered 5 mixed bbq plates and 1 shrimp combo plate by phone for me and some visitors from out of town. I brought up the idea of Hawaiian BBQ to them because I always take my family to this place and we loved the food there. Anyway, I picked up my food, and when we pass it out at the house, what a disaster. I could not believe that I was serving my guests what I saw. First of all, the plates looked like they were only half the portions I am used too. Talk about the waste of space on a plate. Everything was way overcooked and dry, the cabbage in the plate was starting to turn yellow from being too old. Some of the meat came in bits and pieces as if they have cleaned up the grill into my plates. I apologized to my guests and started to collect the plates so I could return them and get food elsewhere but my guests did not have the time. It was so embarrassing to sit there and watch my guests eat this mess of a meal. I will take this out with the management and if they give me the same run around like the person I complained to on the phone, we will never return to this place. I feel I have been ripped off.
