Food and prices are fine. Nothing high quality and it's decent for what it is. A quick cheap lunch. Everything gets drenched in sauce so always ask for the sauce on the side. My biggest issue is that these employees are not equipped to do their job properly. It took the poor guy 30 mins just to prep our bowls because he was working alone during a lunch rush. He had to take everyone's orders, prepare the orders, and cook the food. He also had like 10 delivery orders coming in from delivery services. Working solo on a Wednesday morning! I felt so bad for the guy and I blame management. He was basically frying chicken to order and trying to restock everything as he went. They need to better staff this location because I've seen other locations with 4-5 people just hanging out waiting for people to come in. read more

I forgot my lunch today and decided to grab CupBop since it's always been my go-to for a quick, easy gluten-free meal. It's never let me down before. I had a meeting coming up, so I ordered online for the first time to make sure I could walk the three blocks there and back in time. The online process was simple, and the estimated 15-minute prep time worked perfectly. I'm glad I ordered ahead because the store had a line, and my food was ready and waiting when I arrived. The bag was knotted shut, and my mistake was trusting everything inside was correct. When I got back to my desk and opened it, I immediately noticed there weren't two portions of the meat I ordered, and the bowl wasn't filled anywhere near the top. When I order in-store, they're usually packing it in and practically smashing the lid on because it's so full that definitely wasn't the case today. At that point, I didn't really have a choice, so I told myself it was fine since I never finish it anyway. Unfortunately, the rice was extremely overcooked so mushy. I barely got any noodles or cabbage, which are honestly two of the stars of the show for me. The meat was a little soggy, but I can understand that since it had been sitting after I ordered and during my walk back, so I won't fault them for that. This has the potential to be good if they could get their act together! My friend and I decided to give them another try. We arrived on a Saturday night to find ONE person working... yes one, doing everything from interacting with customers to prepping food in the back. We arrived and wanted to order bowls. The sweet young woman working told us they were out of noodles. We asked if they were making more and she said they were about 16 minutes to prep. Cool. We decided to get an order of mandu while we waited for our bowls to be ready. THANK GOODNESS!!!! 16 minutes ended up being 50 minutes. Not sure what happened... if her estimate was wrong, she got overwhelmed by trying to do everything herself, or what. I'm not criticizing her--she was doing everything she could and honestly, the situation was ridiculous. Shortly after we got our food, the group that ordered after us gave up and asked for their money back... they had come in for a quick dinner and it was nearing an hour and they had to get to their other plans. The food was good--but this place needs better management. A second worker finally came in as we were leaving, but by then they were so behind and the dining space hadn't been serviced in a while. This is a new restaurant close to campus. I really like their food but I think I can do better if I want to eat healthy. You can choose the spice level, ranging from 1 to 10. The higher the number, the hotter the sauce. The first time, I ordered a level 7.5 spice. It was a big mistake. The sauce was so spicy that it made my mouth burn and my eyes water. I could barely finish my meal. The next time I went to the same place, I ordered a level 6 spice for my pork. It was much better. The sauce was still spicy, but not too much. Cupbop on Mill Ave has become one of my favorite places to get a quick (but filling) bite. My go-to has been either the rock bop or the doochi bop. I haven't had an issue with my food being lukewarm like other reviewers have stated, and employees have been friendly. There may have been one guy who seemed sort of standoffish but everyone else is helpful and courteous. How it works is that you get a cup and add rice, cabbage, and sweet potato noodles (all of the above, just two, or even only one if you'd like). You pick a spice level from 1-10. Although I love spicy food, the flavor of the sauce at level 5 is amazing so I always go with that one. As for the meat...you can get various types of meat, poultry, tofu, mandoo, or none of the above. The sauce is put on top and there are optional sesame seeds sprinkled on at the end. You can also choose a drink -- they have yogo vera and not just the regular fountain drinks! The restaurant itself is a little small and there are a limited number of tables, so I wouldn't recommend bringing a huge group with the intent to sit down inside and eat. It seems like they have room to have outdoor tables, yet there are not any. Another thing to consider is the parking, which if you're familiar with Mill Ave, you know it's a nightmare. If you can't find a meter, there are some lots you can pull into, but expect to walk. read more

So that person took the order, made it and did the cash register. So the person behind us had to wait a little. Had the combo. Meat portion looked decent/balanced to me; but bigger meat lovers might want extra meat. The Korean fried chicken looked more like karaage but had a crunch still. It was a little intimidating watching the amount of sauce squeezed in, but once you mixed, it looked fine. Surprised we were able to mix it with the flat lid, but I would say it was about 80% successful. Had to hand mix it some more to break up the rice, but didn't seem like problem. I've eaten at CupBop in Tucson many times and loved it! This location was a huge let down. To start the noodles were not warm, so we had to go with just rice. No big deal, it happens. Once we received our food, the rice wasn't cooked all the way and was crunchy. The customer service was sub par. I absolutely love Cupbop! I love introducing others to it, as well, & seeing them fall equally in love with it. The only reason I'm leaving 4 stars, instead of 5, is because they changed their lids. They used to have dome lids, which gave room to shake the cup up and mix all the ingredients. Now they just have a flat lid with holes in it, so there is no way to shake the ingredients up. I have seen CupBop on social media and looked them up. At the time only the Glendale location was open. Thankfully they have opened more locations. I ordered through their app, which was very easy to use. They have options and a comment section. We all ordered the B Bop - Korean Beef with rice, noodles, a cabbage mix and then level 5 for the sauce. My parents got it without noodles and I got mine without cabbage. It was delicious! The meat is nice and tender, the sauce is enough to have just one container for each bowl, unless you want it to drown in sauce. For me, next time instead of pouring my sauce all over and then shaking it up, I'll do it. I also ordered the Mandoos, but they didn't give me any sauce. But a I will order them again!
