Not Kung-Pao Chicken
Dan S.

Pig slop! The worst "Chinese cuisine " I've had in the entire United States. Ordered kung pao chicken, got teriyaki chicken with broccoli and carrots and 3 peanuts. The all Spanish speaking staff has no idea how to cook Chinese . Payed 20$ for it with an over cooked egg roll, and couldn't eat any of it. It was foul!! Avoid this disgusting place.

Umm WHERE is the teriyaki sauce!?!?
CK S.

This the THIRD time, I have gotten take out chicken breast teriyaki from here, and they put no teriyaki sauce on the chicken. This time, they apparently put the rice in teriyaki sauce, and it leaked/pooled inside the bag. Not sure I am going to be going back. They used to put the sauce on the chicken then suddenly stopped. What's the point of ordering teriyaki chicken with no sauce? Unfortunately, I do not realize this until I get the meal home. Guess I will be eating dry, unsauced chicken. I give 3 stars because the food is so delicious. Chicken always seems fresh, not pre-cooked. Just please get the sauce right.

Spicy chicken plate. Not very spicy.
Alan G.

My spicy chicken was a bit dry and not hot/spicy at all but had decent flavor. I'll have to ask them to make it very spicy next time.

Thai and Taps

Thai and Taps is a solid Thai spot in Snohomish. They have online ordering, parking isn't too bad,…read moreand I've never had any complaints about their food. I've been to T&T maybe 4-5 times since it opened a couple years ago. I've dined in and picked up take-out. Both experiences were great. The service was fast and efficient -- no frills, taking orders/filling drinks/etc. The inside is very bright and nice on a sunny day and they have some covered, outdoor seating on their patio. I think when the weather is bad, they don't have people out there, though. I usually get American-popular-dishes... like Crispy Garlic Chicken and Phad Thai, and it's always been great. Like most places, they let you order most stuff on a spicy-scale from 1 to 5 stars (where 5 stars is the spiciest). I've had their version of 5-stars and it's not over-the-top or anything... just a normal, American-friendly Thai place. The food is always super hot and fresh, though -- and they pack it well (in styrofoam and a plastic bag), so it stays nice and hot until I get home or wherever I'm going. So... appreciate that, even though it's a bit eco-unfriendly. Parking is usually pretty good on Ave A. where they're located. There's a weird, Bank of America ATM kiosk thing next door that is a convenient spot to temporarily park when there's nothing else available. They also usually have at least one "15 min parking" spot nearby for curbside/take-out purposes, so thats super nice and always convenient. I've been here during lunch and dinner and never had a problem getting parking nearby -- maybe it's a quieter street or something. Online ordering is through the "Smile Dining" platform. Their menu is accurate, there's lots of places to put customizations, and I've never had an issue with an order being missed or late or something. So... A+ there. Overall... I really couldn't ask for anything more than Thai and Taps. Actually, one thing I've never explored is the "Taps" part of their name - i'm not certain they have a large, craft beer menu or anything. I could be wrong... but if you're looking for that, you might be disappointed.

In long I've driven past this place dozens of times without even noticing it--their sign is small and kind of faint, and it's an old house. Blends into the background a little, though it turns out to have excellent word of mouth now that I know about it. I came in for a late lunch and got a table immediately. There are half a dozen tables inside, about the same outside. The covered patio is very comfortable and on a perfect sunny summer day there aren't many better settings. The menu is about 100 items or so--apps, salads, a few soups, lots of noodle dishes and entrees. I checked out the Bangkok Spices, which is listed as a spicy dish. They offer five stars of spiciness, which turned to make me wipe my nose maybe once, but definitely wasn't overwhelming. The dish was just great, though: Fresh veg, nice moist white chicken, tasty fresh soft rice. The kitchen is a quiet storm of non-stop banter in Thai, but the menu (and spice levels) are very Americanized. Snohomish is a very caucasian place, so this makes some sense. The server seemed like a local, just the loveliest, sweetest kid. Very attentive and always working. I didn't order a beer but they have maybe 8 taps, focused on hoppy stuff and crisp lagers from good breweries. Good choices for a menu like this for sure. I'd come back here any time, very happily. But I do need to say there are Thai places closer to home and a few of them are a little more ambitious in the kitchen.

We started with the pumpkin tempura. It was crispy on the outside, with a naturally sweet pumpkin inside. It was really delicious. It came with a dipping sauce, though the portion felt quite small. The side of lettuce and a chunk of purple cabbage felt a bit odd presentation wise, but once we wrapped everything together and dipped it, it tasted great. For my main, I ordered the vegan herb tofu salad with medium spice. It was mostly fried tofu tossed in a herb dressing with mint, tamarind, and cilantro. The flavor was a mix of sweet, spicy, and tangy. It honestly reminded me a bit of pani puri. That said, the sweetness was a bit overpowering and made the dish slightly sticky. If they toned that down, it would be perfect. We also tried the vegan 17th curry fried rice, which was good. The curry flavor was subtle. My toddler absolutely loved it. Overall, I would recommend this place, especially for vegans. The food was good, with the only downside being that some dishes leaned a bit too sweet for my taste. The service was okay, not exceptional, but not bad either. I had visited this place about three years ago on a busy Friday night and had a pretty poor service experience, so I wanted to give it another shot on a weekday. The food has improved, and the service was decent this time around.

As soon as we sat down and went to order, we were told that the only thing we can order is pho. One person wanted banh mi and she said she wasn't serving that. So we ordered soup. We wanted to add the fresh spring roll. Server said sure but that would come last. She never even served it to us. We ordered the brisket and steak pho. It came with like 5 pieces of meat for a medium. It wasn't even good. She served the water after we got all our pho and it was 6 glasses (there's 8 of us). When we asked for hot water, she gave half a cup of hot water and was pouting about it. It was apparent that she was overwhelmed as she was the only server and cook. We were surprised that she served the other table of 3 bahn mis though. We will never come back to this place. By the way, she didn't even give us spoons. When we asked her for spoons, she took them from another table where there were people sitting. Out of 8 spoons, 3 of them were dirty so much so that they were unusable. Horrible service and less than mediocre pho.
