They had a good amount of outdoor seating, which we were thankful for since covid cases are rising lately and we were nervous about eating at a restaurant. It was a lovely day outside too and the seating area is covered so we didn't have to worry about sunburning. Very friendly service here. I didn't catch our waitress' name but she was so sweet and friendly to us. Only rating it 4 stars because after we were seated, they forgot about us and didn't give us menus for a while and we had to remind them we were seated outside. Other than that little mishap, the service was really good! We started off with the Live Oysters. This was my first time trying them but thankfully my friend showed me how to eat them. Personally I wasn't a huge fan of them but my friend said they were really good oysters so I trust her review :) Love the presentation of the oysters too! For our main meal, we got 1 Lb. of Unpeeled Shrimp in the "All Hooked Up" flavor medium spicy with corn and 1 Lb. Snow Crab Legs in the "Garlic Butter" flavor, no spicy. The crab was delicious and the shrimp was fun to peel. I wasn't a huge fan of the All Hooked Up flavor on the corn but overall, the whole meal was delicious They provided us with a ton of napkins which was very helpful after we absolutely destroyed the 2 lbs of seafood we had. And after we finished the food, they provided us with their fun fizzy lemon water to help clean our hands and get rid of any seafood smell. I stopped by their bathroom to clean my hands thoroughly and noticed they even had a changing table for parents to change any baby diapers- very considerate and kid friendly! I was really excited for this location. I did a takeout order so I'm not sure how the service is. I was hoping I could become a regular, but I was terribly wrong. The only thing this location has going for itself is the seasoning. Everything else was awful. Let's start what should've been the easiest thing, the fries. Again the seasoning was nice, but the fries weren't crispy at all. I didn't know you could mess up fries, but moving on. I ordered two pounds of shrimp and they were overcooked causing them to fall apart when trying to peel them. You were lucky if you could even peel them at all. The worst part is that they made me sick and had to constantly be going to the bathroom for the rest of the day. Beignets were mehh. read more

Great value for the lunch specials! I opted for the grilled shrimp plate with brown rice and fries as the sides ($13.99). The plate came with two skewers, and a total of 8 shrimp. The shrimp was succulent and well-charred with the perfect amount of cajun seasoning all over. I loved the texture of the brown rice--neither too dry nor too sticky. Each grain had a toothsome bite. The fries were crispy and well-seasoned as well. As an app, we split a half dozen oysters. Of the 6, I'd say 4 of them were pretty fresh. The other half were questionable. We also tried the seafood in a bag and had 1 pound of clams and 1 pound of shrimp with the All Hooked Up as the choice of flavoring. The prices here might be a tad more than elsewhere, but not overly so. Like most cajun spots, the biggest thing that stands out is that the sauce is usually way too salty. It was the same in this case. One the bright side, On the Hook's version doesn't come with a layer of oil. The cajun + garlic flavors were fantastic. Came here for happy hour (which is Mon - Thurs 4:30pm - close) and from the HH menu, tried: - fish taco (your choice of blackened or fried - I got blackened): $2.75 - pretty tasty! The corn tortilla does get a bit soggy and falls apart if you leave it on your plate too long - wings: $1.50 per - chose the All Hooked Up (AHU) sauce which is a combo of cajun + garlic butter + lemon pepper. I honestly wasn't a huge fan of the sauce as it was unexpectedly too sweet for me, and I would try a different sauce in the future. Like the other reviews say, the wings are indeed big and meaty! Also ordered Garlic Noodles with Shrimp ($15.50) and I totally recommend this if you love garlic because they do NOT skimp out on the garlic. I would say that it's a bit overpriced considering that it came with just 4 or 5 peeled shrimp. The Cajun fries ($6.50) were good (can you go wrong with fries?) and had a mild kick to them. What I loved about this place was the open space, music, and staff. The staff looked young. They had great energy and were very friendly. We ordered 1lb of snow crab legs, Pineapple Pina Colada, gumbo, and fried zucchini. The price was reasonable. Whatever that mixed sauce they put on them crab legs is like crack. I could not resist licking my fingers, all etiquette went out the window lol. I wanted to try the crawfish, but I'll save that for next time. To top it off, they give you a bottle of bubbles for to clean your hands of all the stickiness which I thought was very cute. We will return! read more

I just had to write an update of this Cajun seafood restaurant. We came in for a late lunch and the experience was very pleasant. Place isn't big but it's very cozy with a cute little outdoor area. I was surprised to see the seafood prices were still fair. The seafood prices at most restaurants have gone up drastically these days. We started with angry michelada and it was one of the best. They have a decent selection of beers, we had double IPA and Corona later on. For food we had snow crab legs, clams and crawfish in all hook up sauce. Also gumbo soup with rice and dozen of fresh oysters. The Cajun boil sauce here is definitely my favorite which is not overly greasy and salty but still flavorful. They were nice enough to tell customers that the service might be slow due to not enough servers. But the service was very friendly and surprisingly attentive. We liked it that they played sports on TVs and changed channel to Dodgers game when hubby kindly asked. I think we will always come here whenever we crave Cajun seafood with beers! read more

I'm not a big seafood foodie, so I ended up starting with an order of zucchini fries which came with two different sauces: ranch & a special house sauce. The special house sauce was thick & had a kick to it which was really good. For my entree I ordered the garlic noodles and added veggies (+2 extra) they were soo good! Also ordered a blueberry & mint mojito but my drink the blueberry mojito which tasted more like a blueberry lemonade. This has been my favorite local seafood restaurant. Everything is good there including the fish and chips, chicken wings, shrimp n grits, seafood boils and they have great drinks too. However, I found I couldn't give it a 5 star because the most recent time I went the flavor of the shrimp boil was not as good as previous times. I got 1lb of shrimp boil with head on with their all hooked up sauce. It used to be so good but for whatever reason the sauce flavor was really lacking this time. We come here once a month. The food is nice quality and quantity. Had the Baramundi plate and a Salmon plate thus time.

We go there since they opened. We went there today and it was quite disappointing. The oil tastes old. Not fresh one. I wonder how often they refresh. They used to be fresh not anymore. Restroom gets worse and worse. We noticed long time ago but only it gets worse. It looks really dirty and stinky. People say if bathroom is dirty the kitchen is worse. I wonder it is.... The waiter dropped off our food and came a couple second later and asked "how's the food?" Uhhh we literally havnt even take a bite, we just got the food! HALF of the food served was HORRIBLE. To the point that 3 people in our group simply couldn't eat their order- it was so salty. It was returned. 1 person did not like the enjoy the Pastalaya. Found this place on Yelp! While searching for a place with beignets. I was also craving raw oysters so I thought On The Hook was a perfect spot! Came on a Friday around lunch time. Walking in, it smelled like boiling crab! Unfortunately they were out of raw oysters and I wasn't prepared what to order. I saw "The Main Event" section on the menu (like boiling crab). I got a pound of shrimp with the "All hooked up" sauce (mixed of their three sauces: Cajun, garlic butter & lemon pepper). It was delicious! Loved the sauce - it is comparable to Boiling Crab. Only comment is, some shrimps were overcooked that it was a bit difficult to peel off the shell. Garlic parmesan fries - delicious! Can't go wrong with these. Gumbo w/ garlic & cheese flat bread - Fiancé ordered this off the lunch special menu. Our waitress brought it out and we were in shock of the portion - definitely worth getting especially for the price! He loved the gumbo and the flat bread was just a lot to go with it. We ended up taking the flat bread home. Of course we had to try it fresh and it was good! Beignets- definitely eat this fresh! It's good when it's hot, it was nice & fluffy. Service was good but then got slow when restaurant was almost full especially. Lychee lemonade (4/5)- huge portion w actual lychee pieces. Perfect for sharing. Saw the other delectable looking drinks that customers ordered which were also huge. Beignets (3/5)- 3 HUGE pieces. Definitely more breading than I like. Prefer the ones at Ruby's that are thinner and airer. Garlic noodles (4/5)- friend got it w clams but a little disappointed that he only had about 5-6 of them. The noodles are a bit bland, but when mixed w some of the sauces from the other dishes then it was perfect. AHU chowder (3/5)- Just fyi, there's no clams in this one. The flavor would've been perfect except it was waaayyy too salty. The waitress offered to have it replaced, but I didn't want to wait for it. Instead I asked for a side of rice to make it less salty and they decided to charge me with it which was bad service. Was craving for some seafood, and also wanted to support a local business. Have driven by this place, located in a very convenient shopping center. Was informed this was a family owned place, so even better to try this place over some other big chain restaurants. Our server Amy was one of the highlights of this place. She was a master juggler of getting things done and taking orders. I understand that due to Covid, there might be some staff issues... slower service or not enough in hand to help, but Amy did a wonderful job. Food was solid. Tried the boil in the bag, shrimp, clams, and mussels. Ordered 6 raw oysters (super fresh), and had the All Hooked Up Chowder (medium spicy). Portions were just right for me and my wife. Shrimps we're firm, clams and mussels were flavorful tender morsels. Spices level medium was just right. The soup though, was the special kick for this meal. It's like the entire seafood combination put into this chowder. This is definitely one of my favorite seafood soups I've had before. Staff followed Covid rules with wearing masks, sanitation, cleaning up the tables, etc. felt safe coming here, and also seeing there's kid options (for the little ones that may not like seafood) we will be able to bring them along next time. read more
