Went here on New Year's Eve. Now, understand, this place is a dive. It's a cross between a pool hall and a roadhouse. This is exactly what we were looking for. Asked the bartender at our hotel where the locals went to get raw oysters - she didn't hesitate to say, "On the Half Shell". The oysters were excellent; much better than the small, briny ones we had the night before at one of the local touristy places we go to (I've been going to the Strand for 31 years, my wife all her life). They were offering a New Year's Eve special - two filets with lobster tail and sides for $35. Yeah, I know, $35... It was about what you would expect. The lobster tail was surprisingly good. The filets were what you would get at a Golden Corral or Bonanza, or whatever cheap steakhouse is in your area. But really, what do you expect for $35 for two people? Overall a very good experience. Oh, the service was great as well. They were not serving oysters on the half shell that night - Oysters Rockefeller instead. We've been going here for a while for happy hour. Went yesterday with a large group. When the bill comes I noticed that wings were at regular price at 1.25 each which is rediculous. Also they charged me for blue cheese dipping sauce. I asked the waitress and she told me wings weren't on the happy hour menu any more. Why didn't she tell me when I ordered because everything else I ordered was on the happy hour menu. Also asked about the blue cheese and she took it off the bill. Not happy. read more

Seafood was very fresh and food was priced reasonably. Outdoor service was met by our bartender who had to keep running back and forth with delays in service. He tried his best but they were short on staffing to adequately handle customers. Our blonde food runner was miserable. I started conversations with almost everyone. Not one person brushed me off. There was not one stranger in there by the time I left. The atmosphere is like most pubs: with music, happy conversation, and families all together yet separated by two halves of seating. The building is 1/2 bar and 1/2 restaurant. The dinner basket was a good and light meal that was excellent for my needs. I had the blackened fish and scallops and throughly enjoyed it. We walked in and sat down at the table, and we waited and waited, we saw another couple come in and sat down , the waitress was quick to help get their order, and we were still waiting for the same waitress. She never came to our table, so we decided to leave, on the way out, the bartender said "I hope you enjoyed your food". We arrived during happy hour 4-7 and proceeded to order almost every item on the happy hour menu. Roasted dozen oysters perfectly steamed easy to open large and delicious. We also ordered buffalo shrimp which was great but if I ordered again I would ask for sauce on side so it would not get soggy. The grouper fingers were amazing crisp lightly battered hot and large. During happy hour we got 5 pieces for $4.50. If you want a fun casual and very affordable place to eat this is perfect and you will love the food. Went to the restaurant without realizing it was a dive bar. Almost changed my mind about eating there until my boyfriend said he wanted to stay. Stay we did and I'm so glad we did. Really good happy hour specials and friendly service. The were busy and maybe understaffed so we waited a bit for some items and had to re-order another. Oysters were kind of topped with ice rather than ice on the bottom and there really wasn't any brine in them. Maybe this is a local thing? I'm used to New England oysters and lots of salty brine so that was odd for us (however the price was right and throw a little cocktail sauce on em.. not bad!). We would return. Bad from the beginning. We arrived at around 7:45 on a Friday night. The crowd was of average size, there were open tables, yet we were informed by management that we would have to wait at least 30 minutes (unless we either 1) wanted to sit outside with a 60% possibility of rain, or 2) split our party into two. Within a couple of minutes we noticed a table that would accommodate our party and we requested to be sat there) begrudgingly, they allowed- as long as we were willing to wait for them to clean it off. Ummm, yes, thank you. This is when the real wait began. For menus initially. Then drinks. Then for our chance to order appetizers.... which she must have thought we intended to make our entrees because she didn't return to our table for a good 15 minutes. (Note- our appetizers still hadn't come out at this point). She apologetically questioned whether or not we had planned to also order entrees. Also, ummmm, yes. We placed our dinner orders-- and again, waited. Another 10 minutes later, our appetizers began arriving one, by one (total time from order to table ~30 minutes). Our entrees took another 30 minutes until they began hitting the table, and, they were so staggered that the last one arrived after everyone had already finished eating. The food itself was solid. Not outstanding , but solid. I ordered the ahi tacos and the ahi was prepared beautiful, but the cold, flour tortillas that they were served in left much to be desired. The manager that greeted us one lackluster when it came to a accommodating our party, and that was disappointing, particularly when opted to flat out dismiss the idea of seating us together. None of the food we ate stood out as something as I would "have to have" again, so that fact, combined with the service will keep us from returning. read more

We had a terrible experience. The service sucked. The order was completely wrong. She got 3 things right and it took forever to come out. Ashley was overwhelmed and when things messed up she avoided us like the plague. She told us the head chef had quit 2 days before and they were still trying to get things running properly. This was our favorite place, which is why I give them 5 stars. Mickey is an amazing chef with the best food that makes you feel like you're at one of the big $$$ places on the inlet with all day happy hour prices. Average bottle beer selections but awesome liquor prices and fun bartenders who can make your night a blast. However, a lot of the sweet girls we've been around for 3-4 years are gone and replaced with new not-so-friendly or welcoming bartenders. And the cooks are always out in the bar area drinking and smoking it's just awkward I guess. A couple of the regulars are still around and those are the nights we enjoy, but we go from dinner and drinks 1-2 nights a week to maybe once a month or more bc of the loss of "home" feeling. It's not their fault that people move on, and get new jobs. But it's sad that the new girls just don't have that love for you unless you're a regular constantly buying them shots.
