Beware! Shop around for sure, we did before and after him. He gives you one quote on voicemail, and then goes to the job-site and gives another. Which is valid because one has to see the conditions! (I get it) However, after consulting it with another wood specialist that saw the same job-site and quote Omar provided. It was evident that Omar overcharged, he inflated the square foot price, and made the project bigger than what it is. Miscalculated square foot. He also damaged some wood planks that were salvageable. His text in response to my disappointment was that of a person who blames - gives every excuse in the book vs. listening to the customer. I am writing this review in stages. My current rating is 5 star. I read all the reviews and called Omar. I am a believer in getting 3 quotes. Go with the one that appeals to you the most. Whether it is price, customer service, availability, etc. I made a call and we scheduled an appointment. He came on time and gave us a nice quote. After reviewing photos and reviews...i believe Omar will be doing my floors. We are a few weeks out at best. Will keep you updated. He had a few great recommendations that made the most sense. I will return and edit/update this post as we move along. Omar is FABULOUS! Did a phenomenally job and floors look great! Our home has original 1/2" white oak that we wanted to match. I'm always fascinated by the short sightedness of people in business. Since my own construction crews are busy on other projects I hired Omar for our own home. He was someone my Mom and a neighbor had used in the past and were happy. Part of the job was removing carpet from 2 rooms. After looking at the carpet on my front porch for several days I asked him when he was going to take it to the dump. He replied that he does not do that because he has tools in his truck. On top of this he filled up my trash can 6 days before trash day without asking so I had nowhere to put my trash. After sanding the floors he left 2 large bags of sawdust in my backyard as a gift. On the last day of the job he filled my trash can again with 6 days to go before pickup. When we started the job I made room in my garage for the furniture. His guys said they would rather put it on the back patio because obviously that would be easier on them. They said they would cover it with plastic but did a really crappy job on that. For the icing on the cake I asked him when they would be back to put the furniture inside he said I could do it because I am a strong guy and have strong friends. Little does Omar know what I do for a living (home flipper) and how many referrals he would have received had he done a good job at customer service. The guy that did a great job on my pool was watching the floor job and asked me to let him know how it went as he was ready to do his floors. Guess who isn't getting that job? That's right, Omars Hardwood Floors. The workers and quality of the install were good, that's why he did not get one star. read more

I called to ask about how to get a quote for pricing and Omar picked up the phone with the following comment: "Did you get my number via Yelp?" I replied that I did and that I was looking for a quote and he responded: "I'm tired of looking at houses because people only want quotes so my price is $2.65 a square foot take it or leave it" (our conversation was in Spanish) I replied that he should be grateful that Yelp is helping his business while he is not by reponding with that attitude. I told him no thanks and that I would ensure that my parents and sister who are also looking to have work done do not call him either. What a way to repond to a great service Yelp is providing him. Lucky for us, Omar picked up the phone and came out to give us a very reasonable offer. I can't recommend Omar enough. We just bought our first home and, like most of the places in Lakewood, was about 60 years old and had nasty carpet covering original hardwood. After ripping back the carpeting we thought maybe we'd do the refinishing ourselves - having no experience, at all, but being brave (naive?). Fortunately, my father and others talked me down a bit - there was more work to do than some light sanding and a few coats of varnish. So we looked for a hardwood guy - I started with two business cards that'd been left on my doorstep during escrow, but neither gave me much confidence - days passed before they would call me back, and one just never showed up to look at the floors and write an estimate. Humph! So I asked around, and my cousin swore she had the best guy - Omar - who had not only done her house, but her fathers, and 2 or 3 friends' houses. What the heck. Omar showed up and I instantly knew why he was so highly recommended - he was confident, uncompromising and insistent on doing the best quality work, and as he inspected our floors he proved to be a master, not just a hack who does floors to earn something on the side. Long story shorter, Omar started a week later, and another week after that we had our house back, and it was almost unrecognizable. Beautiful floors, and given the amount of repairs he had to do - ripped out an entire hall, patched in planks over big holes in several other places - it was incredible. All for an unbelievably fair price, which (even in this economy) I didn't bat an eyelash at when it came to deciding. I can only recommend Omar wholeheartedly. I hope he gets as much work as he can handle. He's a real pro, trustworthy and honest - I had no qualms about handing him the keys to my new house and asking him to go to town. read more

Simply put, Omar is the best!!! We had pulled up the carpet before moving into our new house and realized we had beautiful 1950's hardwood floors underneath. Unfortunately, their were a few deep scratches from previous carpet installers being lazy. I contacted Omar and he came over the following day for an inspection and he gave me an excellent price quote for the amount of refinishing needed to be done. 1,053 square feet of flooring to be exact. He was upfront about what would be done and the timeline it would take (3 days start to finish). On top of that, he was very friendly as well as adamant about doing the job right the first time. After getting quotes from a few other contractors, I called Omar up and gave the green light. Omar and his assistant showed up on time each day and worked diligently on the floors. At the end of each day he would explain what he did and the plan for the following day. Also, at the end of the work day, they cleaned up the work site which I appreciated. While working on the floors, Omar noticed I needed one strip of wood replaced where termites had done damage in previous years. He expertly removed the single strip and replaced it with a perfect match. You would never know the difference! He was also able to get the deep scratches out that the carpet guys had inflicted on the floors. All in all, Omar brought the floors back to life and they are absolutely beautiful! I had asked for a quote last year, got a nice price but due to personal issues had to delay project until this year. Omar was still responsive when I called him and we settled on a date. I had shout 900 sq ft of floors redone including fixing minor termite damage and even matching wood for hole left by an old floor heater that was replaced. U can barely tell new wood was used next to old wood. Took 4 days, patching/repairs first day, sanding second day, staining third day and sealing final day. Woods came out great and look new with very minor imperfections that give wood character. Old floors had small holes and places where ants would come out in summer, that's all been sealed up. Excellent job with prompt and professional service. I'm including pics but they do not do floors justice they a lot look better in person. read more

We had hardwood floors installed by another contractor (check out my other review of DK Flooring) because of a huge kitchen remodel. After the new floors were put down, we were told that a pipe needed to be replaced. We called the original contractor to remove them. The pipe got replaced and we called the original contractor to put the floors back down. The contractor had the nerve to ask for extra money for the glue, which was not discussed or agreed upon when we had the floors removed. Our contractor refused to pay the extra and I went looking for another contractor. Definitely check my honest review on DK Flooring, so you can avoid this headache. I called several contractors who came over to look at the area which needed to be replaced. We already had the hardwood floors, we only needed a contractor to put them down. TWO flooring contractors came over and confirmed that the floors were removed improperly - the tongue and grooves were cut off. Both contractors had 25+ years of flooring experience and said they would need to remove additional floor boards so they can get the tongue and groove in order to put the floor down correctly. They both said the removal of the hardwood was done improperly, from a contractor who lacked experience or care and would put the floors back down the correct way. I was furious! I went with Omar because he was honest, took the time to explain the proper way to install and remove floors and also provided a competitive, fair price. He came over a few days later with his brother. They removed additional flooring pieces in order to fix the issues of the previous contractor. They were done within a day and a half and he charged half the price of the other contractor. They cleaned everything up after completing the project. I highly recommend Omar for your hardwood flooring needs. We will hire him again for our living room project. He is honest, his prices are fair and he provides quality, honest and fair work. read more

Unfortunately, he informed us that due to the nature of our floors we would be unable to refinish/stain them and he recommended that we buff them instead and opt for new hardwood floors in the future. I am giving this review a 1 because I have to! My friend recently used Omar and his team to redo a couple of rooms. His team was amazing...hardworking people. Sorry I can't say the same for Omar. He was so unprofessional and rude. My friend texted him to make sure the measurements were correct and he just went on a multiple text rampage telling her that he would not do some of the work because it would not even cover the cost for the men. First of all, when he gives a price he should figure every single cost out. Then he makes her feel like she is complaining just about everything when that is not the case. He basically wanted to leave the job half done. She on the other hand treated his staff with respect and was very accommodating. If he has a lot of work and can't handle the load then don't take the job!!! Don't be disrespectful!!! I hope Omar reads this so that he reflects on his actions and becomes a little more professional and while at it a gentleman. read more

Omar and his brother did a wonderful job on our 50+ year old hardwood oak flooring. The previous owners did hi glosses in the rooms and satin gloss elsewhere. It looked nice but the intensity of the gloss was irritating my vision. After two no call no shows from the other companies to redo my flooring, my husband found Omar's Hardwood Floors. He showed up the same day we called and started work dawn until dusk the following day. He did a great job throughout the house and kept minimal dusk on the walls, fans, and doors. The baseboards had little scratches here and there which was expected. Our refinish floors has semi-gloss finishes with the natural oak wood stain. Let me just start by saying that this person did not do any work for me. I called him to ask for a quote and he quickly rushed me off the phone and told me to send him a photo. I thought it was a little rude but I did text him a picture. This guy's is rude and a jerk. Below are the text messages that we exchanged. I simply asked for a clarification the quote and this is what I got: Hi Omar, I just want to clarify..does this price include the hand rail and the 3 posts? HIS RESPONSE: You just show me one post and you want 3 do you think I have work for free. Yes you have pay more for labor. Extra $ 340. Its at lot hand work. MY RESPONSE: Excuse me I was clarifying and asking a question. I do not expect you to work for free, I sent you a picture of the whole stair way.
