Wow, what happened to this place?!? Almost all the staff has turned over. Pricing went up. Quality went way down. I went here for a dipping powder mani & regular pedi. First, I wanted to try tips...the girl told me that she didn't have time to do them. Which would've been fine except my appointment ended 45 mins early and she was sitting around doing nothing waiting for 35 mins waiting for her next client. The dipping mani was AWFUL. Absolutely horrendous. Thick, chunky, uneven. I almost cried as I was leaving for a 2 week vacation and my nails looked awful...I know, I know, white people problems. The powder looked like someone stuck chicklets on my nails. Then they did my pedi...which also annoyed me. Why second?! So dumb. And the girl really was trying but literally there was paint all over my feet...including the soles...WTF?! As I waited for my toes to dry, I just kept staring at my awful hands. I couldn't contain myself...I told the girl at the front how unhappy I was with the service. I have been here several times...and despite all the ups and downs, I've never complained to management regarding quality...until this time. The annoying thing was...she offered me to wait for another 35 mins for them to be able to take it off or to come back a different day. Unfortunately, I had a very tight schedule and they had no time that I could make. I've read several reviews raving about An and the dipping. I did not have An. I had Olga for my hands and I'm not sure who for my feet...someone I haven't seen before. I'll say this, today I tried OMG spa in s loop and took the plunge for the dipping....WHOA! I have dry, brittle nails and had avoided going to a nail salon because I had experiences where the technicians judged my ugly nails LOL. I was glad Wil was my technician; he was totally cool and so patience in getting my ombre French manicure to work out nicely with the colors I've picked. The no chip was also perfect, it lasted over 2 weeks! Everyone at the salon, including the customers, were super nice and friendly. i was greeted with kindness from the moment i walked through the door. i made an appointment the night before and they had a few available spots. while looking through the no-chip colors, i was offered tea (i chose hibiscus) which was very enjoyable while i got my nails worked on. Lam (if i'm not mistaken) was the nail technician who took care of me. sweet lady with enjoyable and funny conversation. she helped me feel very relaxed and catered to all of my nail needs. i was focused on retaining length and keeping my nails healthy. she assisted with this and even asked me at the end if i wanted an extra coat of polish (i appreciated this because i was already going to ask but she made it a priority.) i recommend Lam and Revive Nail Salon. read more

Summary: there's no way I'd pay full price for services here. I bought a Groupon for 2 no chip pedicures. Visit 1 The tech doing the pedicure was super sweet, but her skills were lacking. I bled in 2 different areas and the polish job was really uneven. Visit 2 Requested a different person. The experience was was that of the typical strip mall chop shop. Little communication and what I would call "rough handling" --- if you need me to reposition my foot I will gladly comply. You don't have to yank it towards you. Better overall result than last time but was not a relaxing experience. Maybe that had something to do with the massage chair falling apart and it kept bonking me in the head. Overall, I think they're trying for a spa like experience but essentially this is another run of the mill nail salon. PS - They charge $4 for no chip removal. OVER 1 HR SOAK OFF. READ EVERYTHING. Don't cheat on your regular nail tech ladies , cause karma will come back and get you. Only reason I booked was because my Régulo nail girl had no availability. But I couldn't wait cause my nails were getting too long. I had a Gel extension nail set. I booked online with Revive, when booking there was no option for removal of a gel extension, only for no chip and regular manicure, so I booked no chip. I only needed a soak off, I was planning on giving my nails a break either way. I called to ask if I had picked the right option, the receptionist said yes that was fine. I came in and Takea was my nail tech for this service. She was shy but polite, but you could tell you didn't really have much experience. She started off by taking off my gel with a nail filer and wrapped all my fingers in the cotton soaked in acetone and aluminum foil. She said she would be back in 10 but came back in 3 with Choua. Choua said she had done it wrong. She then brought her drill and started drilling the gel off my nails. She was rough and seemed to have an attitude. But she was nice enough to drill the gel off my nails, while she already had a client soaking her nails. Takea finished the job, but still had difficulty removing the gel off my nails. I didn't even let her shape my nails. I just wanted to leave since it had already been over an hour. I was changer a whopping $25 for the service, which was more than I was told. When I mentioned I was unsatisfied with the service and I asked about the change in charge they said the new receptionist made a mistake. They were no help at all. Will never go back, would rather watch some YouTube videos and do it myself. My husband and I went for a mani/pedi package and not one day after his service the clear polish was peeling off. I called to express my concern and was told a manager would be informed and get back to me. No one got back to me. The experience itself was also not worth the money. After striking out a few times in the immediate area, I tried this place due to the great reviews especially for their dipping powder. I am sad to say, after years going to Revive, I can no longer be a customer due to an incident. I had to cancel an appointment and did it 5 hours prior to the appointment, and the policy is you will be charged 50% of your services if not cancelled 2 business hours prior to the appointment. I was charged $81 dollars for a no-show fee. EIGHTY-ONE DOLLARS. Which also was more than the services I had scheduled. I have called several times and spoken to associates. Best service I've received at a nail salon in a long time. I came in as a walk in and was greeted by friendly staff that, although they seemed busy, they were willing to take care of me! A lot was left to be desired. A modest collection. 3 racks of opi, Essie, and cnd/China glaze mix. While i appreciate the minimalist, health-conscious, Eco-friendly vibe, here were my misses. I came for a mani-pedi. The massage chair had a buttocks option, and this portion did not work. It seemed like a lot of the buttons on the remote were unresponsive. I saw a water dispenser... Wasn't offered water. Pedi-tub water was hardly even lukewarm. Nicki was my tech... Appropriate in skill, for the most part. No problems with polish application... But she cut my nails too short. I had two broken nails on my R index and R middle.. And I just wanted the rest shortened slightly so it would blend. All my nails ended up quite short, with my fingertip pads visible beneath the tip of the nail. Hate that. She set me at the drying station and didn't turn any of the driers on before leaving. Asked the receptionist for help. She had placed my phone away in my purse, and the drying station faces outside. No magazines, music, or TV to distract, risking polish injury. After the pedi, she should have asked me to pull my leggings down to my ankles. I didn't realize this was missed until after I was done at the drying station, so I risked polish smudging again, trying to pull my leggings down over my calves. Small things... But these all added up. I've got a hefty collection of polish at home, so spending on a spa treatment with little hospitality just didn't sit well with me. This is a spot I wouldn't revisit... I usually don't have issues with technicians saying I move too much but my tech today (ironically named Connie also) kept forcefully saying "stop moving" ... then would look up at me like I was committing a crime. She would then shove my hand back then pull it forward, telling me to stop moving but then to move my fingers out of the way. So which one do you want? Move or don't move? I tried to accommodate to her, never talked back, sat there as patiently as I could, but everything I did seemed to make her more mad. I didn't even say anything when she was 15 minutes late to my appt. I came here to relax, but really left more stressed and so so upset. I'm leaving feeling like I did something wrong. Despite this review there are still so many nice people there. I try not to categorize one persons behavior with the entire establishment. I ran into Tiffany (who did my nails the appt before) and she remembered me and even took pictures of my nails to post on social media. Her gel manicure lasted FIVE WEEKS!! The front desk lady today was super patient and nice as well when she was trying to resolve an issue with my account (wasn't able to grab her name) Overall, i'm just sad this had to happen. Leaving this review not out of malicious intent, but maybe more for growth opportunity. Atmosphere - Clean but not new. It doesn't have a strong odor like many salons. Music is usually a mix of easy listening outdated pop. Not very comfortable chairs. No wine but they do offer water or tea. Service - Most technicians are nice and do a good job. Front desk is always friendly. Great job with dipping powder nails which is hard to find in Chicago. I'm giving 2 stars because I've never had an appointment start on time yet they have a super strict policy if you are late or have to cancel. I've started going elsewhere due to consistent late starts and it's hard to get an appointment without booking really far in advance. I also think it's a little pricey. My nails don't look too great, but that's because they were MANGLED from years of non-stop acrylics/gel. The fact that Chantel was able to make my nails look decent at all is a miracle in itself. Summary: see Olga, Vanessa or Susie for dipping powder if you want your nails to look great, and expect that the rest of the experience will be frustrating. I've been a regular customer of Olga's every two weeks for about the past year and a half. She is the one and only reason I stick with Revive, as she does a consistently great job and I also enjoy her as a person. She introduced me to dipping powder the first time I visited Revive and I haven't had anything else on my nails since. If not for Olga, I definitely would not come here. They are constantly moving around appointments without asking, randomly switching you to different techs (even as a regular who always sees the same person), calling you 5 minutes before your appointment to tell you you're getting pushed back, etc. The overall customer experience is pretty poor. They have high turnover at reception and their software is garbage (last week it took me 20 minutes to pay and book my next appointment), but from what I've observed firsthand, their problems can all very clearly be tracked back to the owners. They definitely don't have as many colors of dipping powder as other salons I've seen. Their regular polish selection is average but for some reason they never seem have the most popular/"go to" OPI colors so I often bring my own for my pedicures. Despite prior commentary on high prices I don't notice that their prices are any different from any other comparable nail salon in the city, but I've never had dip done anywhere else so I can't say for certain. I've had my nails done by both Vanessa & Susie in the rare instances where Olga was on vacation or sick, and they are also very good. Be sure to book well in advance as they all book up quickly. I've had some pretty bad pedicures but they always seem to have been done by techs who I only see once or twice and never again. At the end of the day, the most important thing to me is that my nails look great every time, so as long as Olga works at Revive I'll remain a customer. read more

This was my second visit. This time was horrible. I had a 5:45 mani/pedi on Friday The 13th. The nail tech wanted to take a picture of my nails. One smouched and she happily repolished the nail. I left at about 8:00pm after taking the pic for her and sitting at the dry station. The next day I noticed the polish was already starting to crack and chip and one nail was broken. I called 3 times between 12:30-5pm no one answered. I then sent a message because I wanted to know what the policy was for repairing my nails since it had been less than 24hrs. It is now the 15th and still no response but I did get a text to complete a survey. For an appointment that took 2hrs there is no reason the polish should be reuined so soon. Final update: Three strikes is my limit. I think the people at Revive (especially the owner) are very nice, but they lack quality and consistency workmanship. I went in to have two acrylic with no chip nails repaired to tide me over until my fill next week. Vanessa wasn't available, but the receptionist said they now had an "acrylic specialist" who could do it. He was very friendly and did the repairs, but when it came time to apply the polish to the repaired nails, he said "I'll do you a favor and put a new coat on the old." I didn't ask for it, but I assumed that he was going to put no chip on the existing acrylic. Instead, he applied no chip to both the acrylic and the raw cuticle where my nails had grown out. The result, as you can see from the pictures, is embarrassing. The no chip is peeling from the raw cuticle and you can clearly see where the acrylic ends. They look so much worse than they did before I came in today! Some of the polish had worn off, sure, but it didn't look like my cuticles were bleeding. I really wanted it to work out at Revive because I like the atmosphere and the people, but the quality of work is just not there. The first time, the nails came off easily. The second time, the nails were stronger, but the nail length varied drastically. Now, the third time, I have no chip peeling off of my raw cuticle because the so-called "acrylic expert" didn't think about what would happen if you applied no chip to the space where the acrylic nail had grown out. I went in for a springtime mani-pedi and was really happy I tried this place based on the reviews. The salon is very clean with sanitized tools opened in front of you and I love the eco-friendly vibe without a chemical smell smacking you in the face upon opening the door. I bought the Renewal pedi and Standard mani. It took a bit longer than I prefer, 2 hours even though I went straight to a waiting chair. However, the amount of pedicure treatments in 1.5 hours was impressive: long soak with various applications, a mask (who knew that was a thing for legs?!), hot towels twice, a great massage, and a thorough dry skin removal of winter heels. I'm not one for chatting yet Cindy kept trying to engage. Honestly her chat times and the fact that she showed me the dead skin she took off (gross!!!) TWICE after I didn't appreciate the first time, is the only reason the place loses a star. The 30 minute mani, including drying, was the best part! Yes it started while my toe polish was being applied, which isn't ideal for comfort, but I wanted out of that chair anyway! The manicurist who's name I didn't catch was friendly but not overly so. I was so excited to get my nails and toes done since it had been months in quarantine. I have long, strong nails on my hands and within a day or two the gel polish lifted and it's completely peeled off 4 fingers in a single piece. I also got the most expensive pedicure they offer because I'm 9 months pregnant and my feet desperately needed a rub down. When I got home I noticed my feet hadn't been exfoliated enough and there was so much dead skin still on there that I had to buy a foot file myself and take care of it. Also they hardly rubbed my feet but did the hot stones on my legs. I left a generous tip for both techs because I understand how tough times have been but I'm super disappointed with the services and won't be going back because the cost is really high for the lack of quality. Below is my original review and then my updated review: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ I first went here after reading reviews about nail salons in Chicago where I can get the dip powder. I went in for dip with nail extensions and also a regular pedicure for a total of $80 something dollars. The dip with extension was $50 something dollars and a regular pedicure was $30 something which I thought was pretty pricey but I read good reviews so I decided to go ahead with it. I got the dip powder done and it wasn't too bad. However, the nail technician ran out of the top coat so two of my fingers dried with bumpy top coat. She never attempted to fix them even though she examined my nails afterward. I was in a rush so I didn't think too much about it.  After my first visit, I would have given them 4 stars but it was my second visit that makes me think this place is not worth the money. I went back in to get the tips and dip removed after 5 weeks of having them. They told me it was going to be $14 for removal without any additional service. I wasn't happy about the price but I thought they'd do a good job since they are the ones who did my nails. I was wrong. I think it tells a lot about a place if they do a poor job of basic services, such as nail removal. I went in to get just the nails removed because I needed to give my nails a break. The nail technician kept asking me several times that she can do a manicure after removing nails even though I had told her no. She also then asked if I wanted a pedicure done to which I declined. Honestly, I felt like her attitude worsened when I said I wasn't going to get anything else done. She removed the dip powder layers but never removed the glue layer for the extensions I had. I asked them to refrain from using the drill after removing everything because my nails were already thin but she didn't even remove the glue layer. I now have some translucent layer on my nails.  Additionally, other places I have gone for nail removal put nail strengthening polish after removing the original polish but I left this place with hardened glue on my nails and no strengthening polish. I can't believe I paid $14 (including tax it was $16) for this poor service. I will be going to other places instead of paying for overpriced and crappy services at this place. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Updated review in response to management's comment: Thank you for your comment. I get compliments on my nails all the time. I have never had a better manicure anywhere, ever! Every little detail is perfect and my polish lasts through 3+weeks of bartending. It's incredible.
