We were immediately greaded service was friendly but not pushy, that means a lot for a nail spa. I can't stand being pushed into getting a service I don't want. I just visited this salon for the first time. I paid $65 for a manicure & pedicure, paying extra for the "chrome" gel nails. My gel manicures typically last 3 weeks when I go to my usual salon, but after only 3 days they are chipping and peeling on the ends. This place also has inadequate ventilation and I found it very difficult to breathe in there. Also, they are CASH ONLY (who carries $75 cash in their purse?). Ridiculous. Overpriced. Waste of money. This is a cash only joint which is fine because several nail shops in the area only accept cash. I needed a mai/pedi desperately so I tried someplace new. I did like that I was able to call in for an appointment and that there are several chairs available to get an appointment. I also liked how they use single use tub liners for the pedicures. When they asked me to place my feet inside the tub, they turned the water on and walked away without checking the temperature. She returned and I told her that the water was ice cold. So, she had to drain some to fill it with warm water. My pedicure turned out fine. My manicure was not painted correctly. There was at least half of my pinky nails that were not painted but bare by the second coat of color. I asked for the oversight to be fixed, which it was, but then the color didn't level off. I came here based on pictures of previous clients' nails. I like a coffin shaped nail and not everyone can do that well. I called late (after 5pm) for an appointment and they took me without a problem, sat me right away, and i asked for a full set and to remove my old set as I'd already lost 2 nails and the shape was never right to begin with. She said she thought she could work with it and save me the money instead of doing a whole new set. She did a beautiful job, made sure everything was perfect, and didn't even charge me for the 2 nails she replaced. They seemed to really enjoy their jobs and had fun while they were working. Sorry it's a novel: I was a walk in yesterday. Henry asked what I wanted and I told him pink and white powder (showed him my nails) and a pedicure. He said okay and to have a seat. They seemed busy but I was not in a hurry so I waited. I was seated not too long after in the very comfortable seats and my pedicure began. Had a great massage. The girl was nice but busy-minded (not totally attentive to what she was doing). The polish job was okay. I would give the pedicure 4 Stars overall because she did give a great leg and foot massage. So then I'm seated again in the waiting seats for my pink and white (French) manicure. After about 30 minutes of feeling forgotten about, Henry asks me to sit in his seat where he gives the fastest top nail filing I've ever had in my life! He was just in a hurry to get me out of his seat. Then he grabs this white powder and I'm thinking based on the 7 years I've been getting my nails done with pink and white powder that it seemed very soon to be having the white powder go on already. So I asked about it and he said "I'm prepping your nails." I'm not one to cause a fit and thought maybe they just do things Very different from what I'm used to. So he finishes and asks me to sit in another seat. I told him I was very confused on what was happening. He assured me it was fine. I was in his seat about 4 minutes max which is insanely fast! So then I wait in another chair for a few minutes. Again, not totally in a hurry but more just confused on what the heck is happening! So then Tracy asks me to sit in her seat. We do the typical convo of what I was looking for and after the normal prep stuff to the pink and white powder (and still not sure what Henry's purpose was), she pulls out a bottle of red gel. I said "Oh. No. I wanted pink and white." She says that this is better and I should trust her. I told her I don't want red. She says "it's not red. Much better." I asked if it was a gel. She said no. I said "Ok. Because I don't want gel. I want pink and white powder." This is when I'm told they don't do pink and white powder. I've been here 2 hours at this point and my nails are already halfway through the process when they tell me what I asked for is not offered there. So now my patience and niceness is really being challenged. Tracy says she's going to airbrush my nails. "Much better. More natural." Um...they do not look natural!! All my fingers were filed crooked. She airbrushed the tips then went back over the tops of each making each nail cloudy. Then she put this disgusting thick gel on top that left strings hanging off the ends of my finger nails. The entire ordeal took me 2 and a half hours and cost me $61 (without tip). I sat in my car so upset looking at my nails and had to go back in because of all the shit hanging off my fingertips. There was also chunky white airbrush paint hanging onto my fingertips. They didn't clean underneath my nails. When I walked back in Henry looked at my fingers and tried to say it was okay. Then another girl took me and cleaned up the tips of my fingers and said "that's all we can do for you." I should have demanded my money back and am upset that I didn't but instead I'm writing my first review ever on Yelp and going to warn all my girlfriends about this place. I just got the worst manicure in a long time. I don't even know her name because she barely even spoke. The whole manicure was rushed, I got no massage and had to ask her to remove 3 hairs from my nails while polishing and she proceeded to make me dry them still. After wasting money paying her I got to my car to notice one more nail with a huge bump on it so I went in to get it fixed and she took cuticle nippers and cut it out then was going to have me leave! Their prices are much better than other nail salons they recently added a few dollars to each service but it's still decent. I have been going to this establishment for years and my most recent visit was horrible. In past visits as soon as you walk in you are greeted and asked what you are in for. The price is right and the manicure and pedicure were always great. On this trip I was greeted with several stares and after what seemed like forever a lady came out of the back and asked what I was in for and told me it would be a few minutes. No problem. My pedicure went ok, except it seemed short and she barely even used the pumice stone on my heals. At the end of my pedicure which was 25 or 26 dollars I only had 2 $20's and they said they had no change. So I was like do you want $20 and she grabbed the $40 out of my hands and was " thank you so much" and ran into the back room. I was shocked and didn't know what to do, so I just left. I am so angry they just took my money like that and the pedicure was sub par so it wasn't worth the $15 dollar tip she got. I will never go back. My old post seems to have disappeared, so I am going to give it a repost. The following review was posted on 7/16/07: This place is awful! Do not go here! When I moved to Contra Costa County 2 1/2 years ago, I went in search of a good nail place as I was in need of a fill for my acrylics and a pedicure. I had got several recommendations for Olympic Nails and thought it would be a great place to go. After all, all of the nails I had seen from there were beautiful, so how could I go wrong? I got my fill and pedicure and my nails looked beautiful. However I left with more than just that. I left with 6 bleeding lacerations on my finger tips (from the nail file), a blister on one finger (from the dremel tool), and a bleeding sore on my foot (from the pumice stone). And being that ALL the instruments they used were dirty I was in fear of contracting Hepatitis or HIV. Their nails technicians did not have their certificates posted, as the law states they must, so who even knows if they were licensed to do nails? If they had all the hours of training it takes to get licensed, I doubt they would have butchered me like they did. So that is concerning. I'm not even going to go into how brutally painful all this was. All in all, the whole thing was traumatic enough for me to take my acrylics off and stay away from all nails Salons for a year after that. Not all places are like this. Just don't go here. read more

I give Olympic nail five unhappy faces :-( :-( :-( :-( :-(!!! I have had a lot of people recommend me to try this place out due to the quality and low price of nail service. I really was looking forward to a new place I could call home. Olympic Nail Care was anything but positive for me. I was thoroughly disappointed in everything. First of all, I came in and was not encouraged to choose my OWN color. The nail technician, Nancy stated, "I'll pick one out for you. I know what color looks good." So, my taste wouldn't be sufficient enough I think to myself. I said, "No thank you, I can pick it out myself". And then she proceeded to ignore me by going to the back and bringing me five nail polishes to choose from. How odd is that? Next the manicurist is pushing me to do acrylic when I told her no once. Just as another review mentioned, they always go, "honey, wanna pay extra for massage? "honey, you use acrylic instead. Color longer lasting for 4 weeks...blah blah blah. More Sales pitching. Next, I find my big toe bleeding because Nancy roughly tore off a piece of skin while removing the excess skin. And trust me, I pride myself on good hygiene. My skin is not tough by any means. I agree with the other reviews which noted the lack of a license properly displayed for customers. Legally they are required to show their license and based upon this isolated experience, I would think these people were still in training. I find her looking embarrassed and quickly applying cotton balls and alcohol on the wound. To make matters worse, the woman doing my manicure fails to comply with my request. I asked for round shaped nails and she does square. The manicurist accidentally bumps my hand causing the white paint (french manicure) to smear and tries to hide it. I point it out and she embarrassingly smiles and applies a sorry cover for "white-out". The worst part is after the experience Nancy had the audacity to count the tip money I gave her and made a face. After the service she provided me, she was lucky I gave her anything at all. I normally am a generous "tipper" and I regularly have my nails done but this was one of the worst experienced I've had with a nail salon. However, I give Nancy credit. She does a beautiful job with flower designs. Last point, I have never been to a nail salon which required me to provide two separate payments (as I had a manicure/pedicure with two different women). That might explain why Nancy refused to retouch the paint on my manicure and pointed to the other woman, stating, "Go get her. Go. She do it for you." I couldn't believe Nancy did not even bother to get the manicurist for me. She seemed like she was just too busy to bother with me. She was ready to load me off and start off with a new customer. It was truly an assemblyline Olympic Nail nail technicians should work as a team and the manager needs to change this operation. I was completely turned off by the lack of team work there. Sorry all, count this chick out. I ain't coming back after this experience. It was too traumatic. :-(! And believe me, I can handle pain. I am anything but a weeping wallflower. Olympic Nail may go the extra mile with the quick neck and shoulder massages (which were actually quite painful! Man oh man I wish I had read these reviews before I went! :( My dad was in the hospital at Kaiser Walnut Creek and after spending hours there I decided it would be a nice break while he was getting some rest to get my nails done across the street. I've had friends who have gone to Olympic Nails and said good things so I walked in for a mani/pedi. Right off the bat ZERO color selection. It took me awhile to find something I liked. A girl named Tiffany did my mediocre pedicure & was actually looking and talking to the girls next to her and not looking at my feet WHILE doing my toes the entire time...sketch. Sped through the pedicure, skipping steps, skipping toes, and not giving a care in the world. By the time the girl came over to do my manicure, I tried to get out of it but she insisted. She sped through my manicure, shaped my nails crooked, and painted poorly (you could still see the nail polish I had on before). I could barely get out of there fast enough and didn't even wait for my nails to dry. I went to the front desk and asked to pay as I handed them my debit card, when the receptionist said that they only take CASH. I ended up using the ATM in the corner with an outrageous withdrawal fee and had to pay Tiffany directly. Safe to say I'm NEVER going back. Total lack of service, professionalism, and quality. I give them two stars only for nostalgia. I started going here when I was about 15, and they were great back then - cheap, fast service, always available for walk-ins. I stopped going here about a year and half ago due to the actually quality of the manicure/pedicure I was receiving. Nail polish was a wreck. One time a girl filed my finger instead of my finger nail. Ouch. My complaints fell on deaf ears, and I ended up with a bleeding finger. They have always treated me with superb service and I always love how they remember exactly how I like things done. That's excellent customer service! Some of the people who work here are really good. BUT this place is not managed well. It's probably better to walk in than make an appointment because you always end up waiting. If you ever make an appointment with 1-2 friends and you call ahead, you will find yourself waiting and not always sitting next to each other. This was my first time at this nail salon and it was close to work so I thought I would try it out. I called and made a noon appointment. I went in and they looked very busy. I waited about 10 minutes until someone finally started on my pedicure. The pedicure felt very rushed and I was probably out of that nail salon before other people who started before me. She seemed more concerned about the people coming in. Once she was done I went to pay and was informed they don't take card - cash only. I didn't see any sign saying that it was cash only. Anyways they have an ATM which has a $2.25 charge to get cash. Once I left I took a good look at my nails and realized how messy the nail job looked. Not very happy with the visit... So I am a fan of this place because of the quality and price of the work. I have a full set of fake nails, and the "natural" AKA American Manicure. Henry does my nails and he is great at what he does. It's only $21 for a fill and it last 3 weeks! I get compliments all the time and try to recommend Olympic to people often. However, having said all that, the place can be quite crazy. The shop does not like to turn away customers, so sometimes your appointment time might be moved because someone else walked in. Once you build a rapport with your technician, they will go out of their way to on time and accommodating. I advise people to NOT GO Friday- Sunday. If you are lucky enough to have a morning off during the week, GO THEN! It is much slower and calmer, the environment is much more relaxed. read more
