Wahhh I hate to write this review because I love this place so much but my latest experience here warrants a review. I should have known better but NTS: don't book with a beginner nail tech... unless you want a 3 hr nail appointment for a single color, a nail tech that doesn't know how to shape almond nails, and the tech having to ask another tech to give a lesson on how to do the almond shape. I've came here plenty of times before but I was always with a senior nail tech because I usually get designs. This time around I only wanted a single color. I took a gamble with a beginner nail tech because I felt like the quality/service I received in the past was good. In the 3 hours I was there, all the techs had serviced 2 clients. I get being detail oriented but at the end of it, the finished product wasn't even good. I don't want to shade the nail tech but she definitely needed more training than what was under her belt, and personally felt that she should not have been able to take customers based on her skill level. My left hand was shaped well but there are so many obviously file marks. On the right hand, the nails are not at all shaped like almond, I needed to reshape/refile when I got home (see photos). read more

I recently tried Level Up Nail Salon in Walnut Creek and unfortunately my experience didn't meet expectations, especially for the price. I paid $110 for a builder gel manicure. After reading reviews, I expected a very long appointment, but the service was actually extremely quick -- about 20 minutes. While I appreciated not sitting there for hours, the quality reflected the rushed experience. When I left, my cuticles were still rough and dry, and while the overall shape was nice, it wasn't consistent across all nails. The salon advertises that their manicures last for weeks, but just two days later one of my nails chipped and began peeling. Because it was builder gel, the repair wasn't properly done and I ended up having to file part of it off myself. For the price point, I expected much more attention to detail and longer-lasting results. I typically pay around $50 for a manicure elsewhere and receive comparable or better quality. I've been getting Russian manicures for a long time and never had this problem before. The last few times I've come here, my nails start lifting after about a week, and by week two it's pretty noticeable. I go every four weeks, so they should last much longer. This salon is on the expensive side, so I expect my nails to hold up for at least 4-5 weeks. I do like this place, but the lifting has been disappointing. However, only coming 1x a month as opposed to 2x a month with a traditional gel mani so, its all averages out. NO chipping, NO broken nails. DURABLE!! And cuticles stay right for the entire month!
