"You got to be kidding me You got to be joking" (Graham Parker) You've really got to be kidding me or joking with me if you tell me there is such a thing as a New Haven bagel. Well, please excuse this uninformed schmuck for not knowing that there REALLY IS something known as a New Haven style bagel. Just do a little research like I did and you might be astonished to learn that a New Haven-style bagel is characterized by a unique, "steam-only" cooking method instead of traditional boiling, resulting in a lighter texture with a thin, crispy crust. They're described as having a soft, airy, and warm interior with a crisp, slightly chewy exterior and form the missing link between New York and Montreal style bagels. Well, now that you have that info, you should also know that the Olmo Bagel Shop is widely considered the home of the original "New Haven-style" bagel. Their bagel varieties include Original, Everything, Sesame, Everything Everything, Poppy, Cacio E Pepe, Onion Sea Salt, and Za'atar. Now, I'm sure you're wondering if that Everything Everything was a typo, and the answer is......no. Everything Everything is one of their specialties, described as "a savory delight using our unique house blend of sesame, black sesame, onion, garlic, poppy, Italian seasoning, herbs de Provence, sea salt, black pepper, cheddar, malt vinegar, Korean chili flake, nori, and tofu bacon bits". I guess that adequately explains the double "everything" and surely explains why I just had to buy one. We visited their booth at the Wallingford Garden Market today and were blown away by their gorgeous looking bagels, pricing, and fantastic customer service. All together, we bought two bagels at a very reasonable $2 a pop, and when our counter person found out it was our first crack at Olmo's bagels, he gifted us a third. Our three were an Original, an aforementioned Everything Everything, and the freebie was a Cacio E Pepe with "a generous amount of black pepper topped with a slice of caramelized provolone cheese, which gives this bagel its reddish hue". I enjoyed my Everything Everything for tonight's dinner with some cream cheese and smoked salmon. The bagel was very good, nice and chewy and all that spice made for a distinctive flavor that curiously reminded me a bit of Thanksgiving stuffing of all things. We split the Cacio E Pepe bagel for breakfast the next day and that was a smash hit as well, with plenty of flavor sitting on top of a caramelized provolone blanket. It was savory, decadent, and delicious! Well, next time we're in New Haven (and we can manage to parallel park), guess where we're headed for bagels?

Extremely good and worth the visit. Efficient kiosk-based ordering system. I came around lunchtime on a Wednesday and it only took ~5 minutes for my order to come out. I got a toasted everything bagel with egg and cheese, and I added a sausage patty. The egg was perfectly cooked (fried to soft yolk) and the bagel was marvelous. The price was pretty reasonable for the area ($10 before tax and tip). I'd recommend this as an easy default breakfast if you are visiting New Haven.

I've had their sandwiches several times and its always consistently great! My husband has been eating here for years. I usually get the turkey, egg, and cheese with picked onions and today Arugula was added....OMG! They provide fast service and are still nice. It gets busy in the tight space and I know why - it's so good! Not easy to park around there, however it's still worth the hassle for a to-go order. I don't eat from here often, however, if I was closer, it would be a problem.

I normally order through UberEats, but their food is consistently good, and their bagels are soft and perfect for sandwiches.

Came in on a Saturday morning and it was quite crowded. Appears to be a very popular college student spot and not a peaceful place at least on the weekend. Ordering ahead is probably the way to go. Besides the overall disorganized feel of being in the shop, they were playing really grating music that was basically just a hyper beat and made the whole feel even more frenzied. Got a cold brew which was not very strong and probably a third of it was oat milk. The bagel itself was very good - fresh, soft, with slightly crispy outside and overall unique feel for a bagel. Got it with scallion cream cheese and egg and it was a generous freshly cooked two fried eggs on the sandwich. So five star bagel. But the experience was unpleasant and the coffee left something to be desired.

I could not be happier that I came to Olmo! I was visiting for the weekend and needed some breakfast before my trip home. Friendly and quick service, and food was absolutely delicious - the highlight of the food I had while here! Definitely recommend the Everything Everything bagel. One note is that there is nowhere to sit inside but once the weather is warmer there are tables outside. I will 100% be coming back on my next visit!

Olmo Bagels at the edge of Yale University is an absolute must-visit for breakfast, boasting a culinary experience that justifies any queue! What started as a casual observation of a massive line on a bike ride quickly turned into a delicious discovery. We indulged in their breakfast bagels, and my salmon smoked bagel was nothing short of amazing--truly a 10/10 for food quality that will leave your taste buds singing. Nestled in a neighborhood rich with history, the building itself, like many along this historic stretch of Chapel Street dating back to the 18th century, hums with the legacy of New Haven's development alongside Yale. Despite a challenging parking situation and a 30-minute wait, the exceptional service received was also a perfect 10/10, making the experience seamless and incredibly welcoming. Be prepared to navigate difficult parking, but the staff's efficiency and warmth more than compensate. It's also worth noting for planning purposes that Olmo Bagels is not particularly geared towards children, with no highchairs available. This gem offers an incredible atmosphere (8/10) perfect for adults looking to savor a truly outstanding bagel. I will be back!

This place definitely lives up to the bagel hype, whether you're getting a classic bagel with cream cheese or a full breakfast sandwich, you really can't go wrong. The different breads and cream cheese are all delicious. I was super impressed on my first visit, and it's a spot I always want to come back to. The staff is kind and welcoming, and the space is adorable, perfect for sitting outside or check out the cool vibe inside.

This was my 1st time ordering from Olmo but definitely not the last time. Placed my order and received it a timely fashion. I unwrapped a perfect breakfast. I am not normally a bagel for breakfast kinda girl but I figured I go off the reviews and give this place a try and it was worth it. I received a great breakfast, bagel was toasted with butter, crispy on outside nice and soft on the inside, bacon perfectly cooked, egg done well and cheese just nice amd melty. This bagel was udderly perfect. I highly recommend them just off this 1st experience with Olmo. I also ordered cinnamon raisin cream cheese on a sesame bagel that I ate later that day which was good but I am completely sold on the breakfast bagel !

Stopped by this place for lunch when visiting Yale. Affordable, friendly staff, and delicious food. I appreciate that they have outdoor seating as well. This was my first time trying an okonomiyaki bagel and I love the fusion of flavors here. I got the everything bagel with it. It was fresh and was filled with cabbage, bacon and sweet-sour okonomiyaki sauce. For $8, it was a nice lunch!

Yes I waited a long time for my bagel, but it was absolutely worth it. I cannot recommend this place enough, especially because they also accommodate vegans and have vegan cream cheese. The gentleman at the front managing the DoorDash/uber orders and crowd control was amazing and very helpful regarding updates on my order. I was also able to try their chocolate chip cookie and it is out of control addicting. Definitely worth the trip.

I love a bagel, and being back in the northeast means I needed to get at least one bagel. Went to Olmo at around 9:30 AM on Saturday. The interior of the shop is very cozy and was quite crowded. We ordered on these screens after waiting for about 5 min. We were all asked to wait outside, which had ample seating. About 15 min later, a man came out to hand us our food. I ordered a toasted everything everything bagel with spinach and artichoke schmear. The bagel was crunchy and dense which was great, but I really loved the flavor of the cream cheese. I'll definitely be back!

Friendly staff, tasty bagels and very fresh. Love that everything can be customized. Easy ordering by computer or with a real person! Very small inside, only tables for eating outside or carry out. * Disclaimer * these bagels aren't quite as fluffy as a typical NYC bagel but the dough and flavor was really good

What is the indoor seating situation like now?

From what I can remember there is just a few seats that are on a counter that sits on the front window. There's not much seating inside, but there is a LARGE patio with a ton of seats (obviously... for when it's warmer). But it's very small inside.

If you enjoy the flavors of Indian food as well as one of those quick service, hot chicken restaurants you probably would enjoy Hot Murga. The chicken sandwich comes in five spice levels from no heat to super hot. I got the standard hot, and it has some kick, but it wasn't overpowering. Then again I enjoy spicy food. I also ordered their spiced mac & cheese. Again, not spicy at all, but flavorful. Also a good portion as I have leftovers for later. I had my food delivered, but this establishment is close to the Yale campus and street parking can be a bit tricky on Howe St. and around Broadway. I've been inside of the space once when it was a different restaurant some years ago, it's not a large space, but I'm pretty sure comfortable if you decided to dine in. If you ever find yourselves at a crossroad between wanting Chick-fil-A and Indian food, this would be a great alternative.

Honestly, I didn't think the Murga Sandwich itself had too much flavor - the fry was good and the chicken was juicy & crispy, it was just a lacking seasoning and even "hot" was not super spicy. The spice itself also tasted very one dimensional - just spicy, with no seasoning. Overall, I was a bit disappointed by the sandwich itself, but would be interested in trying some of their other sauces. The Badmaash Mac & Cheese was the redeeming item of the meal though - this is basically a Mac & Cheese, covered in tikka sauce & their spicy sauce, and topped with fried chicken. It's definitely a unique flavor, and I think the tikka masala sauce went really well with the cheesy mac texture. Definitely seems like the kind of late night out comfort craving, because it is super heavy. p.s. - pro tip, the sandwich itself is $12 but the sliders are $6 and definitely larger than half of a sandwich (probably closer to 2/3rds). So I'd get 2 sliders for $12 instead of a sandwich.

One 6 Three is an unusual name - it's a small and cozy spot with few tables and bar seating, set in a residential neighborhood. We tried the gluten free crust (available only in 12") American margherita pie and added mushrooms in half of it. The wood fired crust was well done, I really liked it. Lots of garlic, yum. However, the tomatoes on it were raw and that didn't feel very good. Also, there were no condiments offered on the side- like oregano- is that normal in a pizza place? This place is small, unapologetic, and full of character. Decorative firewood stacked with intention, walls filled with wine corks, and #10 tomato cans repurposed as pizza stands. Walk in and you immediately catch the vibe, exposed brick, distressed plaster, a slightly industrial, almost factory-style feel that somehow still feels warm and welcoming. The centerpiece of the room is the wood-fired oven, running hot and glowing with that perfect orange flame. The aroma of burning wood hits you right away and sets the tone. From that moment on, the culinary experience is in motion. We ordered The Mootz and Breaking My Meatballs. Both pies are built on a very thin, tender crust with beautiful leoparding. The dough is flavorful and clearly well-fermented. Sauce is applied with restraint, just enough to support the dough and cheese without overpowering them, and it delivers a clean, bright tomato flavor. Breaking My Meatballs was the standout. Homemade meatballs, herbed ricotta, cherry peppers, mozzarella, and that same balanced sauce. The cherry peppers bring a sharp vinegar tang that cuts perfectly through the richness of the ricotta and meatballs. Every bite hits a different note, and it all works together. Easily one of my favorites. The crust across the board was thin and tender with a delicate smoky char from the wood fire, exactly what you want from this style. Bottom line: Great spot. Excellent pizza. Super friendly staff

I've had two sandwiches from Meat and Co. on two separate visits in 2025. The first was the Haute Tuna Melt. The tuna salad itself was good. It has some hot pepper and chive flavor. The tuna sandwich was on a panini-pressed ciabatta roll. I prefer some type of grilled sliced bread, which I think is more common, for a tuna melt. But that's fine. The biggest miss for me was the cheese. The American Cheese was not at all melted. So it's really just a tuna fish sandwich with American Cheese, Lettuce and Tomato. Good for what it was, but it wasn't a Tuna Melt. The second was The Rick Reuben. It must be more "Rick" than "Reuben". because it is the least "Reuben" Reuben sandwich I've ever had. It had pastrami, which is acceptable for a Reuben. That was about it. Instead of kraut, they had a mild red cabbage slaw. Instead of Swiss, they had cheddar. Instead of grilled rye bread, it was on a long panini-pressed pretzel roll. Admittedly, I didn't pay careful attention to the menu description because Reubens usually fall into one of a small number of types, and I like them all. Although, the online menu I saw did not reference the pretzel roll. This sandwich was too far away from any accepted form of Reuben to be called a Reuben. If it had been called a Pretzel Pastrami Melt, which is far more accurate, I wouldn't have ordered it. It was fine for it was. The pastrami was average though. Given how much I like the other East Rock Market vendors, I'm unlikely to return. If you go, pay close attention to the menu and maybe ask questions. 3.25 Stars
