I love coming to Olivia's because they have a great range of nude colors and usually the service is great! Today was an exception because they are usually so attentive to cuticle care, but my nail technician today was rough on my cuticles and caused it to bleed :( she tried to move on without acknowledging the cut and I did say say ouch a couple times on some other fingers. Pedicure chairs are just a low chair style, cushion kept sliding forward during the pedicure, and there was just a small tub (no circulating water). The footrest feels like if you put any pressure on it as you are resting your feet, it might break. People were very kind, pedicure was good, but the set up was not my vibe. Olivia came highly recommended by my neighbors as their go-to spot for a reliable, high quality and organic gel manicure. Scheduling and securing my appointment was easy via FB messenger. The salon is located 2 blocks from Patterson Park, almost hidden away next to Johnny Rads. Upon arrival I was so impressed by the vast color selection (they carry Opi, Essie and others). The ambiance is incredibly calm and relaxing, they broadcast HGTV which I always find soothing. The pedicure setup is nontraditional but I actually preferred the plush seating and bowl style to the clunky massage chair/bowl combo alternative. It definitely felt more comfortable to me and elevated the overall experience. All staff wear masks and the salon is extremely clean. This place is more like a 3.5 but they're locally owned and has a cute setup so I'm giving it a 4. I will say it's my favorite place for pedicures if you're not picky. I usually will ask for Babita who is the best person there. After this other technician totally messed up the filing job they moved me to Babita who did a nice job. I received the Everest pedicure service with gel polish. This includes the paraffin wax, callus treatment, etc. and my heels are cracked and not smooth at all! This was not worth the $80 I spent. UPDATE: I should have mentioned that before my service, my heels were NOT cracked. So I did in fact not receive a great price for my service, particularly given the fact that I brought my own gel polish. This is highest that I've paid for this particular service in the DMV and it was in fact, the worst that I've received. And since yesterday, my cuticles around my big toes are now inflamed because of how close the nail tech cut them. I won't be coming back and the haughtiness of the owner as evidenced by the comment below in response to my review is even more unsettling. THREE WEEK POST-PEDICURE UPDATE: I just finished getting a pedicure at my normal shop in DC (Mimosa Nail Salon) and noticed that my nail is now discolored in the same area correlating to where my cuticle was cut open. I also have never had any complaints about my gel manicures or pedicures. I've never had an issue with chipping or cracking. I can't believe I haven't reviewed Olivia before, I was certain I had. It is my favorite Baltimore nail salon, bar none. I have referred so many people here since they opened. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing, there are no unpleasant scents or dusty shavings in the air, because they don't do any artificial nail treatments that I am aware of (acrylic, dip, etc.). Malti and Chin are both lovely, as are all the girls who work for them. There are sometimes minor miscommunication or difficulty communicating due to language barriers with some staff, but I have found them willing to step in for clarification, if needed. I will say you should allow for longer than at your typical nail shop for your services, but I firmly believe that's because they do such a thorough and careful job, so I don't mind at all. I also really appreciate the efforts they've made during the pandemic-switching to paper towels from regular towels for hand washing and installing touchless faucets, plastic barriers, trying to seat clients with space between, etc. They also insist clients wash their hands immediately upon entry. I haven't seen these measures taken at any other nail shop, salon, or spa and it's wonderful. Check them out-you will not be disappointed! read more

I've been here and enjoyed impeccable service prior to the pandemic. Olivia has truly rised to the occasion to provide a safe and exceptional service! The service they provide is still exceptional!The doorknobs or touched surfaces are cleaned immediately, chairs are given or have plastic coverings, and there is a plastic barrier at the nail station. The hand washing stations are completely hands free (wave to activate soap, faucet, paper towel, and garbage). They acknowledge proper distancing between clients which are also compliant in wearing a mask. The staff are in the proper PPE with mask and face shield; they protect themselves and the clients. As an emergency room nurse this is one of the few places I feel confident in that this location to not become a hot spot for infection and to provide phenomenal service so we can all experience a little self care read more

Parking definitely a pain. Long time customer. Disappointed today that they charged me an extra 10$ to remove gel they placed last time with no communication until I was checking out. Great first experience at Olivia's. Made a 2:30 pedi appt on a Friday afternoon, and was running a bit early, and they were able to accommodate me at 2:00. It was pretty packed for a work day, even if it was a Friday. Almost every chair taken. Very clean, no harsh chemical smells, and love the pedi setup (portable bowls, comfy chairs). My nail tech was very pleasant (didn't catch her name), and did a great job. Didn't feel slighted at all, which is sometimes how I feel after leaving a nail salon when they barely care or pay attention to you. My nail tech was very attentive and asked questions throughout. I came here yesterday because I am traveling today on vacation. I trusted that it would go smoothly as I have been so happy with every service I have ever gotten here. However, yesterday was much different. Usually I get someone who takes their time and makes my nails look perfect. Yesterday I felt like I was at one of those conveyor belt $20 nail salons, however, it wasn't the $20 nail salon price. Someone worked on my Brooklyn pedicure and then someone else came and painted them. You can see in the pictures how they came out. There were ripples in the polish, gel polish. Also, in some instances you can't see through the white nail polish. The nails were not filed into a shape but just painted. It was a horrible job and I also with that pedicure you pay for callous treatment and the person just rubbed my feet and was over with them. Then when it came to the manicure, it was layers upon layers and I could already tell that they would chip right off. I asked for my toenail polish to be taken off and to be repainted because it was unacceptable. I was then told that I would have to reschedule but I was already running late as I had been there from 9 AM till about 1130. I was traveling The next day and I just could not reschedule at all. They took the nail polish off my toenails but they still wanted me to pay the $60 for the Brooklyn Mani Pedi. Because of my nature, I paid for the service as it is a small price to pay to never give these people my money ever again. The man behind the counter saw the pictures, saw my nails and said that there was nothing he could do and that is how much I had to pay. Why they would not want to retain a good customer who tips well is beyond me. Maybe they are just turning into one of those $20 nail salons. Which is fine, people need to make their money. I was pretty nervous about going to a nail salon in light of the current pandemic surge and the fact that I haven't gone to get my nails done since before grad school. I made appointments at three different places only to cancel after doing extensive reviews research on them. And I'm incredibly glad I ended up coming to Olivia! Although it was street parking on Eastern Ave, I was able to find a spot right out front off the bat. When I entered the salon, it was serene and peaceful- exactly what I needed to catch up on my backlog of Atlantic articles I've been meaning to get to. My nail tech had the softest touch and really took the time and effort for my gel manipedi! Although I haven't gone for one in a couple of years, I'm familiar with the vast spectrum of experiences that you can get from a nail salon. My experience at Olivia was definitely on the higher scale of that spectrum. I was so happy with my nails and my experience with my nail tech especially with the fact that I had to ask her to give one of my nails regular polish since it's partially broken from an accident a couple months ago. I came to Olivia to get a dip manicure a few weeks ago and got the overall feeling of "meh" once I left. I was pleased that my dip lasted and looked fresh for over 3 weeks, but that's about where my "wow" factor left off. I'm pretty picky about sanitation and I could tell that files and nail blocks were used on multiple patrons. I also noted that the kit that had all of the tools they used on me didn't look clean or sanitized. The application of my dip manicure took about an hour and a half. The dip was smooth, but boy was it thick. I'm used to getting e filed after dip to blend the base towards the cuticle so it grows out nicely, and noted they didn't do that here. read more

My nail tech took such great care of my hands and feet. Being 38 weeks pregnant- everything felt so tight and my tech spent time massaging my feet really well and giving me five star treatment. I stopped by on a Thursday with 10 minutes notice and they were able to fit me in. Even before the mask mandate going back into effect, they've had a lot of health safety precautions. You must wear a mask inside, there are plastic shields at the manicure stations to separate you from the staff, the chairs at the manicure station are covered in plastic wrap, and I witnessed employees very diligently sanitizing surfaces between clients. All of this made me feel they were doing all that they could to safely operate. I got a mani/pedi combo which was $45-- I thought I had read in Yelp reviews that it was $10 less, but they may have changed their prices over time. My nail technician was very gentle but provided all the nice touches to both manicure and pedicure that you would expect like hot towels, scrub, hand massage, etc. She did a wonderful job specifically on shaping my finger nails, and the paint job on both hands and feet were great. Though I paid by card, you can also pay by Venmo which I'm sure a lot of clients appreciate. I was having a hard time finding the colors I wanted when I searched myself, so one of the employees was super patient and helpful, finding different colors for me to try and testing them on my nails while someone else started working on my toes. I liked that they told me it was $5 more for the gel I chose, bio seaweed gel. I thought the place was very nice, but they were very busy and the pedicure seemed a little rushed. Overall I'm very pleased with the shape and color gel! The gel wasn't too thick either. I'd recommend booking an appointment as they had to turn away some walk ins.
