I've been coming to this salon for pedicures for a while, but unfortunately my experience on Saturday was really disappointing. The nail tech who worked on me (Judy) seemed rushed and uninterested the entire time. She was rough while working on my toes and kept pressing her thumbnail into my big toe, which was uncomfortable. I also noticed that my big toenail ended up being cut at an angle, and when I pointed it out, it wasn't acknowledged or corrected. I also asked for a specific polish color that I've gotten before ("Lucky Red"), but was told they no longer carry it. The alternative color that was used wasn't what I asked for and didn't look the same. Another uncomfortable moment was when I was paying and the technician stood over me the entire time while I was trying to resolve a quick banking issue. I will say that when the male manager is present, the shop usually runs much more professionally and I've had good experiences in the past. Unfortunately my recent service didn't reflect that standard, and because of this experience I'll likely look for another salon moving forward. read more

QQ Nail Review Let me start by saying that I'm a regular of QQ Nails. I never had an issue. I've had conversations with Karen about her two sons and even suggested that she consider changing her hair color. Brown is boring. On Friday, June 20, I called to schedule an appointment for 6:30. I wanted to allow myself time to arrive, as I was coming from purchasing a car and needed to stop and feed my child. I did that, but it still wasn't enough time, so I called again and told her husband, the manager, that I would be there at 7:15. He said it was okay and to take my time. I fed my kid, arrived in the area, went to the 7-11, disciplined my kid for egregious misbehavior, and then came to QQ Nails to relax. It was about 7:14. When I got to the store, the manager, Karen's husband, laughed and then outwardly embarrassed me because he said I was late. I'm flustered because I had to correct a child, and I'm confused because I did call. Now, I'm embarrassed in front of customers. It doesn't stop there. He takes off my hand polish but then takes me to the back to do a pedicure. I sit down, and in the bowl, there is little water with debris at the bottom. I'm unsure if the bag has been used, and the spout from which the water is supposed to come out is submerged in the water. The bowl is filled only 1/4 of the way; it looks disgusting and is not up to the quality expected for $150. I questioned him the first time. He takes off the polish from my first toe, and he says it's clean. I look again, and he says it's clean, and his voice elevates. "You don't trust me. You don't trust me!" I'm looking at it, and it is clear that the water is dirty. I ask him why he is yelling. He refuses to give me service and proceeds to say, "I'm the manager!" Karen comes around the corner and makes excuses for his behavior. She puts her hands around me, and I pull back. She says, "We've been working all day." Well, I worked as well. Her husband talked to me as if I was a dog. Not only that, she came over to brush off my concern and only apologized while looking over at the other customers, white, because she didn't want to upset them. Karen didn't stop there. She's having a conversation with her employee, a young man; his sides are cut with a ponytail on top. I had to literally say to them, 'If something needs to be said, please say it in English, because I refuse to be disrespected in your native language. My daughter later told me that Karen even made the environment so comfortable for the customers that they would say, "Hey, I go back there and yell at her." I know what my daughter is saying is true because one actually did get up and come back. At the end of my service, Karen took, I believe, $30 off of my bill. That is still not enough to cover up the fact of how Black I felt. This world will never let you forget you are Black. When I say world, I mean white and even immigrants. Everyone will always have this thing, where they will feel like they have to put a Black person "in their place". This isn't a review to deter anyone from visiting QQ Nails, as I have students who are patrons of this business. Although, as an English teacher I've taught my students to use their voice when people have wronged them. QQ Nails, you have wronged me. There is no excuse for you not to provide quality service, even at closing. Karen change that fucking hair color; again, it's so dull. I see you in a like a wine color and wear some lipstick sometimes. Make him worry. For the manager, I'm not a dog and you had no right to talk to me like that. I come here ALL the time for acrylics and gel pedicures. This is my LAST time coming back. I paid $15 for acrylic removal. It took the girl 30 min to do THIS (see pictures). There is clearly a huge amount of acrylic left on my nails. You can see it, I can feel it. It's unhealthy for your nails and unacceptable to not get the full service I paid for done properly. I told the guy at checkout after the girl told me she was finished with me and he motioned for me to sit back down, but I was in a rush and had to go. Just to say, they KNOW this is not a proper job done. I must be a sadist because I have always paid them $70 plus a large tip to do the most MID AMATEUR acrylics ever. I just come back again and again because there is no place closer to me and I am generally not one to complain/be picky. I wish I had pictures of those to share. My main issues with their general acrylics are: they are always bumpy/lumpy and uneven, too thick and unflattering very unnatural looking compared to the way other salons with experience and precision do them. Occasionally they will be SOOO crooked too lmao. The last time I came, literally 5 out of my 10 nails were superrrr crooked (like embarrassingly so, I couldn't even post a picture on my insta story they looked so bad) and I got a beautiful chrome color over gel. Too bad the chrome flaked off IMMEDIATELY, within the same day the tips of my nails were all white in a very ugly way and over the next few days patches kept flaking off. I ended up having to paint regular old polish over my acrylics just to look presentable for my day to day until I could get back to the salon. In summary: only get acrylics here if you have very low standards and too big of a wallet, don't expect them to ever be able to remove your acrylics properly (aka be prepared for fungal infections), definitely do NOT get chrome because it won't last even one day. HOWEVER, the pedicures are truly amazing, and if I felt like giving them my money again I would only get a pedicure here. read more

I have had my nails done twice here at QQ - two different technicians. Both did really great jobs! I appreciated their swift work, readiness for my appointment time and they have been willing to do small designs I requested (and turned out very cute!!). Prices are very reasonable for builder gel manicures, I have not had a pedicure here yet but plan to. It is pretty low key - if you're looking for a fancy place this isn't it. But if you're looking for a quality nail salon, who respects your time and money then I recommend! read more

My nail tech was aggressive with filing for a regular manicure and upon removing the polish I have deep scratches visible over all my nails which will take months to fully grow out. I had just waited several months for my nails to grow out after being severely thinned and damaged from use of an e-file at a different salon, so this was very disappointing. The polish was applied well and stayed on for several weeks without chipping (rare for a regular manicure in my experience), but now I have to deal with damaged nails for the next few months. read more

I had to select a color three different times because they didn't have the colors I selected, which was unfortunate. I also noticed some bubbles in a few of my nails afterwards, which wasn't ideal. Despite that, my nails lasted a long time and I was pleased with the shape. The salon itself is a bit outdated, so you're not coming here for a frilly spa experience. They can get busy, so I've always called ahead to ask if it's a good time so that they're expecting me when I arrive. They do prefer to be paid in cash, and they will ask you to use the ATM at the desk. I'm going to try to have cash next time so I don't need to use their ATM (although that works fine). This location was actually the last outing I had before I had my baby 5 weeks prior, This is the first time I'm leaving my baby, im a new mom, birthdays the following day, there are just a lot of factors here. I went to get a pedicure for my birthday and eyebrows waxed, my pedicure was rushed in comparison to every other time. Nbd nails looked ok. I added the service of eyebrows. My sister went 1st with her nail tech and the entire time my tech walked in and out of the room while she was getting the service, hovering. I wanted to tell her it was fine I wasn't in a rush but realized that she clearly was. My sister finished up and had no complaints about her work with her tech. I go in she begins my eyebrows I tell her exactly what I want and don't want. She butchers my brows completely. The owner comes in and says not to worry she's going to fix it but it's so bad, it can't be fixed. The tech who did my sisters comes in and pluck the few sporadic left behind because she's confused how to help atp. The owner apologized and said I could come back the next day for them to be fixed . I give this place 3 stars because I came in for a pedicure with my boyfriend on a Sunday morning and the salon was empty. I wanted a pedicure and my boyfriend wanted a massage. I was seated immediately and when my boyfriend asked for a massage we learned that is not a service they offer individually... so he decided to just get a pedi too. The pedicure from Eva was very very VERY nice! I loved the whole process. Eva definitely put a lot of work in (my feet really needed it lol). I really loved the hot stone on my legs! Eventually we were done and my toes were dry but when I got home a few hours later, my heels still had a bit of rough skin. After a day or two, I noticed the paint wasn't wrapped over the top of my toenails so the natural color shows. Today is Wednesday and after looking closer at my toes, the nail layers are separated /split. I'm very impulsive so I unfortunately started picking at them but that was kind of a waste of money :/ maybe I'll come back and ask for a toenail file instead of cut. Great Chinese nail salon with top notch skills and color selections! The staff here was friendly but rushed for both times I was there. They wanted you to choose your colors fast because they were really busy on Friday afternoons. However, even with the limited staff, they still took their time and get the job done. Both times (first time gold sparkle, and second time French) stayed more than 3 weeks! I went here for a mother's day pedicure. I walked in & said hello. The guests/patrons replied & none of the employees looked up or responded. I repeated hello & excuse at least two more times before anyone looked up. Luckily a guest told them that i was standing there. The staff was nice.. they are open on Sundays which is great especially during this pandemic. My girlfriend and I were able to get in an out at the same time. They are pretty expensive in IMO. They charge $20 extra for gel nails and the $30 pedicure is basically just to polish your toes. Five more if you want your feet scrubbed like a "normal" pedicure.. so basically after a manicure with my real nails and pedi with gel polish on both I paid $100 for this experience. Which was honestly not an experience at all. It was basic. I wasn't happy with the pricing, I felt like I was being nickeled and dimed.. the tech I had cut one of my toes since one of my fingers (still a scar) and I had to tell her Twice she applied way too much pressure and though she was nice, she didn't listen. This was probably one of the worst nail experiences I've had. There were a number of people waiting after me to get serviced, and the woman doing my nails was a pleasant woman, but was clearly rushing through the job in order to get to the other people. I was getting an overlay with gel, short, in a square shape. The polish was bubbly, my nails were different lengths, and they were not at all square shaped. There were thick layers of acrylic under my fingernails. Terrible job. I had to ask for a nail file to use so I could shape them myself. A shame, because the lady was nice but clearly rushed through and didn't care about how my nails turned out. I got a pedicure as well, but in the middle of it the lamp died, and once it was plugged in, it could barely reach my feet so I had to tilt my feet at an angle for the rest of the polishing process. I decided to try QQ again and to my surprise... they have really upped their game. I didn't get anyone's name (should have) the first woman shaped and trimmed, she was attentive as she prepped them. First few coats done flawlessly. The second girl came over to do the French tips and I have never.... NEVER been so pleased with the outcome. This is the best French manicure I have EVER had. I've been trying out different nail salons in the area, and this was my first time at QQ. It was a fine experience, nothing spectacular. I waited for Karen because of the reviews on Yelp and the customer she was with at the moment was raving about her. This salon is kind of pushy. I came in for a fill in with regular polish. They asked me at least three times if I wanted gel, and I consistently said no. I didn't get a hand massage or cuticle cutting, and I think it was because I didn't get gel, because the girl before me got gel and she got a hand massage and short back massage and her cuticles cut. That's a little obnoxious to me. As for the nails, they came out nicely. I asked for round, and as we started Karen asked if I would do almond. I've never had almond so I asked if they were pointy and she said no. They are definitely pointy to me, but they look nice. She charged me $5 more at the end for changing the shape, which I wish was told to me before I changed the shape. I wanted to give 4 stars because Karen fixed three of my nails since there was something, maybe fuzz, in the polish. But what put me off was the surprise charge and pushiness about gel. There was also a mother and daughter there, and the mother paid for everything, and they told the daughter that her mother paid for her but they didn't think she tipped.
