Decided to get a pedicure as well. Walked to the waiting room and seen the nice massage tables! The music is soothing. It's a very calm demeanor here I almost fell asleep! I would say the waiting room shouldn't be used to find out your nail color due to the different lighting. The woman who did my nails may have been new. I just had a head spa treatment at Athena Nails and Spa - I don't have enough good words to describe how wonderful it was. I feel like a million - my hair is so silky soft. I already made an appointment for my husband - I also made another appointment for myself. You must give them a try, and right now they are having a special on the Head Spa treatments too! Oh my god, I left this place crying . I came in with a gel manicure already on and wanted a gel removal, a nail trim, and a regular manicure. I don't know what was going on with the gel removal -- I've gotten hundreds in my life and have never had removal like this. They piled some weird gloopy stuff onto my nails and I guess had it dissolve the gel, but it stung like crazy and it didn't work!! Then my nails were cut. I had asked for them to be shorter because they were quite long -- but they were cut SHORT. Like, I don't have nails anymore at all. She then filed them and "shaped" then into these crooked disastrous nails that still had bits of gel on them. I kept asking for her to please even out my nails because they were not even at all, but she just kept filing them shorter instead. I then got this weird hand massage where the manicurist rubbed lotion into my skin, but because she hadn't cleaned my hands before or anything, she was rubbing bits of gel residue and nail residue into my skin as well. It was like a crunchy weird lotion experience. At this point I was beginning to feel quite stressed -- my nails were way too short, seriously uneven, and still had bits of gel on them as she was preparing to put polish on them. I ended up paying for my gel removal and leaving before she could ruin my nails anymore. I sat in my car and cried for a minute before driving to another salon to at least have my nails evened out. I really cannot recommend this place and I am so so so sad about my nails. (PS I know I'm over dramatic but I love my nails!!) read more

Im a licensed esthetician and it was obvious that the technicians did not have a clue what they were doing. I paid $75 to get my hair washed and it was grease and stringy. I literally had to go back to my hotel and shower the cheap oils off my body, face and hair. Yuck!! read more

My recommendation is to run from this place and never go back! I got a gel manicure 14 days ago and when I removed the gel ( myself) ,I noticed that all of my nails EVERY SINGLE nail got affected by fungus!!! I have never ever had fungus in my life!! I never wear fake nails, my nails are always short and I wash my hands frequently! This is beyond crazy and disappointing! I am having a new born, so by default I'm so worried that I transfer this to my little baby!!! I am going to report this place to the health department as well. Just left the salon and had a great experience! I made a same-day appointment over the phone for a gel mani. When I arrived, the woman at the front was very sweet and had me choose my nail color. There's a great selection here of gel polishes! Bandana was my nail tech and she was so great! She tested the color I chose on my nail first to make sure I would like it since it was a bit clear/on the natural side, and after she shaped my nails she would check in to make sure I liked it. One of my natural nail was even broken and I didn't notice, but she was able to apply glue to it to hold it together which I really appreciated! While Bandana was working to make my nails beautiful, I was watching Love It Or List It on HGTV. And at the end of the entire experience I was happy to see that my cuticles were clean and the polish was applied perfectly! The gel mani was $35 plus I tipped $8 (CASH tips only!) Well worth the work and experience-- I'll definitely be back to try the pedicures. read more

I came in because after only a few days of having my gel x manicure the polish bubbled and started to lift off. I loved how it looked originally though so just came in for them to redo the polish.... Instead they took off all my nails and said I needed to start over and the result was terrible. All I needed was a polish change and she ruined the length, shape and style of my nail. It looks like I have clubbed fingers and my nail is soooo short. She also ignored me when I questioned the length. I just wanted my same nails I came in with... I had a great experience at Athena! I was scheduled for a pedicure at 6:30pm, and eyelash extension at 7pm. I was 10 minutes late, but Susu was super nice and accommodating. I only waited 2 minutes before receiving my pedicure. The waiting area is also very nice. I think Susu's little dog was just roaming the salon, and she was SO adorable, friendly, and well-behaved. That made my day haha. The pedicure ($27) was sweet and simple, and my tech also used a scrub that felt really nice and warm towels that felt great. She was so sweet, and Food Network was also on which was another plus I was pretty nervous about getting eyelash extensions because I've never done them before. After researching them and reading different reviews I decided to go for the plunge! Susu explained the whole process very well, and I didn't feel pushed to choose one type of lash over another. She actually explained the differences between the two sets offered in detail, and I ended up with the volume lashes ($180). Susu is super talented and patient, and her skill with lashes really shows. The process of getting the lashes on went well, and I felt relaxed the entire time. After the procedure is over, Susu tells you how to take care of the lashes and maintain them. I'm in love with my lashes! I wanted a more natural look and they definitely look great. They were very covid cautious & I appreciate that! But the quality of the actual service was disappointing. My husband, son & I all got pedicures + 1 polish change. 2 of us got started on right away while my son waited almost 20 minutes even though we had appointments. My nails were cut round when everyone should know toenails get cut straight across to deter ingrown toenails. Also, my polish was not even put on the entire nail. My son's fingernail polish change was done while in the pedicure chair instead being sat at a table. My husband was charged an extra $5 for his callouses + an extra $5 for buffing! I was made to pay with veno by the owner & so I'm not even sure my persons got their appropriate tip. Everyone was very nice but based on quality I would not recommend. read more

On first impression the salon is clean and well decorated, but the experience was definitely sub-par. Brought two friends for mani-pedis as the place I normally go was booked on a Saturday - first of all they only booked two/three services that I requested over the phone, making one of my friends wait. The pedicure was very uncomfortable - felt like my feet got yanked around and the filing was very aggressive. Not relaxing at all. The polish job on my hands and feet was pretty terrible - sloppy, rushed, and so thick and gloppy that it did not dry for the entire night and filled with air bubbles. I could have easily done a better job myself. By the next morning, pretty much 10/10 fingers and toes were messed up from the polish never dying. I went back and they did redo the service... but I had the same technician and the same issues. The polish on my nails feels about five layers thick, is all over my cuticles, and is already forming air bubbles in almost all ten fingers. I will be taking this off and actually re doing it myself tonight, and will not return again. Update: here is the manicure a few hours later. Horrible. I wish they would have just offered a refund instead. Technician was Bandana - I will never come back. read more

This place is apparently extremely hit or miss. I made an appointment for a manicure with friends and when we arrived at our appointment time one of our friends began her appointment after a 15 minute wait. However the rest of us waited 30-40 minutes before beginning our manicure (regular, not gel). Extremely long wait time aside, the quality of manicures we got was atrocious. See pictures and not much explanation required. But to add color - cuticles were not cut, despite my request that she cut them, and then reminder after the fact that she go back and do a better job. Nail polish was glopped on and was not painted close to my nail bed at all. Pics are from one hour after manicure, but looks like my nails have been growing out for a week! Ends of my nails weren't painted (again, despite my request and reminder). After some point it became so painful to "remind" them how to do their job I just resigned myself to the fact that I will have to remove and repaint myself. Apparently some technicians are good, but the two that my friend and I got were atrocious. It's not worth the gamble of going to this place. Beauties beware. read more

11/26/16: I've been here 2x now and remain impressed. As I've stated in previous nail salon ratings, I don't really require a whole lot (i feel) from a nail salon experience. I really just want cleanliness, a basic grasp of english, and no obvious resentment of your customers requests. The Athenians have this plus so much more. Every time I've ventured in, no matter how busy (and they seem to be quite busy), I am met with smiles, not a "what you want", or a straight up "pick a color". No matter how long you wait, someone will come over and offer you some water or another beverage (nice touch). They have lots of comfy massage chairs, clean pedicure bowls, the instruments come out of a sterilizer, and the nail techs are meticulous at their jobs. Oh, and the prices are reasonable too! So my review is kinda mixed. It wasn't a horrible experience but it needs work. A major plus is the parking lot across from the salon. Spots 51-58 are for the salon. I was able to be seen quickly without an appointment around 2pm but it did get busy. The pedicure was fine but the paraffin wax was way to hot and when I told the nail tech, she didn't really see it as a problem or do anything. She was very nice otherwise and offered me something to drink. I'm very particular about my nail shape, so I feel they could be more Square and buffed more. Also the gel polish selection is kind of limited compared to places I've been. All in all, an ok experience. read more
