Due to the pandemic my massage habit/indulgence had been put on hiatus. I got the recommendation to schedule with Canton Square Massage from my neighbors and I'm so glad I decided to check them out. Not only is the location super convenient, right next to Patterson Public House but scheduling was easy. David was welcoming and the 90 minute massage was a dream! Impressed. David is a skilled masseur; he employs a lot of different techniques while keeping consistent deep pressure which is what I need!I've been to places where I've checked the "deep tissue" box and I've still gotten a light hand...annoying! As soon as he did the chiro head stretch with me, I knew I was in a good place. I had a couple of death knots and he pushed into them hard until they released; this is not for the weak, haha. He used an essential oil diffuser which was nice, kept the room dark, and the oil he used on me had a nice minty feel but not too strong. I paid the price of the hour massage and he went over the time --a lot of other reviews have mentioned this too, so rest assured your time and needs will be valued. One thing I will say was the table got a little too warm, I'll just ask him to turn it down next time. read more

Dave is the best! Try It once. You will never go anywhere else. Very professional. I can't explain what he does, but I go in feeling like a train wreck and come out brand new. Kinda had to laugh at butt massage review girl. I've never felt uncomfortable with Dave and he does massage my butt. He asked the first couple of times. Now he doesn't because he doesn't have to. I had been meaning to use a gift card that was 3.5 years old, so when I finally got around to actually doing so, I completely regret waiting so long! He uses a super user friendly online appointment system, and I was able to make an appointment for the next morning. My appointment was at 8am, and I arrived around 7:50. He was waiting for me at the door, we went right upstairs to the massage room, and he had me complete a very short form about the type of massage I wanted. I was schedule for a 90 minute custom massage, and I asked for a deep tissue massage. We started right at 8, and he actually went for almost 1 hour and 40 minutes. The massage was AWESOME. I like very deep pressure, especially on the parts of my body I had indicated as areas that were sore, and he did such a good job! He was incredibly professional, and I would highly recommend him. My husband and I got massages with Brian for the first time. His manual skills were excellent. He used hot towels to help relax the muscles which was very nice. His essential oils are of the highest quality. He was pleasant, personable and comfortable to be with. The facility was very clean and well decorated. Not for me. First PROS: He called me back in 20 minutes and was able to get me an appointment that day. I had asked him to work on my neck and upper back because I pulled a muscle, and he did an excellent job. My neck felt much better when I left. CONS: Unlike with my neck, the rest of the massage kind of just felt like getting petted, with no real directed pressure. MOST IMPORTANTLY: I was not asked (normally they ask!) before I had hands on my (bare) butt even though I specifically left on my undergarments. I think that this is a normal practice if you say "yes" when asked. However, I am one that says "NO" but as it was already occurring, I was frozen in panic. At the end, "titanic" was playing, and I was completely panicked pretending to be asleep, and he just sat there with his hands on my shoulders. For several minutes. Eventually I flopped around a bit like a seal to signal that I was "awake" and it was over. Thank god. Then I went to buy beer, so as to mitigate any long-term trauma from said unsolicited butt massage. Cheers! read more

I first heard of Canton Square Massage after hearing of a 90 minute massage for the price of a 60 minute massage ($65) deal. I set up my appointment on a Saturday with David. On that specific Saturday, I was running late due to a previous appointment and I called and spoke with David frantic over being late for the massage. David was very understanding and kind. He told me to "take my time" and said he was willing to wait for me as there weren't any other appointments for him. Once I showed up, David greeted me and tried his best to put me at ease. I filled out a form talking about any previous injuries and personal information. David then asked me if I wanted an oil scent for aromatherapy during my massage. He helped me select the scent and even gave recommendations on popular scents which I appreciated. The massage was wonderful. He paid attention to noted trouble areas and I felt the massage time in areas was evenly spread which can be a problem for massages as long as 90 minutes. David even massaged my face around my forehead/sinus area, my ears and scalp which is something I am not accustomed to. That was great! I left feeling rejuvenated and refreshed. David was very professional and accommodating. I would gladly come back again so much that I have already re-booked for a second massage! Please keep in mind that Canton Square Massage is located above the Randy Rix Hair Studio. I didn't realize that at first and had walked by twice not realizing it was at the same location. The massage area itself was very clean and relaxing although at times, I was able to hear some of the activity of the hair salon below me so perhaps the music might need to be a tad bit louder. I don't even want to write this review because I wish I could keep Dave's amazing talent all to myself! I've been at least a dozen times - prenatal, postnatal, and sometimes just plain worn out. I feel completely better every time. He's totally unforgiving to all your body's knots and tensions, but you'll thank him later. And he mixes that tough love with other techniques that are incredibly relaxing. Also, don't be in a rush because he never finishes "on time" - as if it's more important to be thorough than fast. Refreshing, huh? Especially compared to the stuffy resort spas that shuttle you in and out and cost 3x as much. Can't beat this local gem! read more

One of the best massages I've had- David is great, very professional and he listened to what I had to say and actually delivered. He knew when to press firmer and when to lighten the pressure. Also, the oil he used was perfect- it had a lovely smell and I didn't walk away feeling like I just rolled around in butter. The 90 minutes for $65 is great deal- I actually hadn't heard about it until I got there so I'd only booked a 60 minute massage, but David was able to accommodate and I ended up getting the 90 minute massage. A friend mentioned what a great deal they were having (the 90 minute for price of 60 minute) and said David was great so I booked an appointment online (I love being able to book things online as well). It appeared the special was supposed to have expired, I noted I had heard about it and after I booked he still gave me the special which was very nice. The massage was great, it is difficult sometimes to find that happy medium where there is enough pressure to be getting out the knots and what not without actually being painful and he definitely nailed it. I agree with Marjorie that the face and head massage was a great bonus. I don't go to get massages all that often since it can be an expensive habit but when I do I will definitely be going back. read more
