However, they told us we could sit in the lobby and they could serve us there. So we chose comfy chairs with a table between us and they brought us menus and were very good about checking in on us. My son had 2 mocktails and enjoyed them; I had the Oliverita and the Manhattan and thought they were both good. We ordered a bowl of cashews and pecans and an order of hummus with flat bread. The hummus was excellent. My son ordered the hamburger and I had the crab cake and shrimp cocktail. The crab cake was huge and very tasty. The shrimp was fresh and the cocktail sauce was excellent. I have not visited Oliver's or Seattle frequently since Covid began in 2020. I was staying overnite at the Mayflower Hotel and have only had drinks at Oliver's. I didn't realize they have a small but interesting food menu in addition to their amazing cocktails. II ordered the Turkey & provolone sandwich on Macrina bakery's Whole wheat. It was delicious, along with a Mac & Jack ale. The service was flawless as well! I'm not one to right many bad reviews but I genuinely have no idea how this place has a high rating. Other than the nice nice decor and tall windows, everything else here was rather below average for me. My guess is that the place must have amazing food, sadly, we weren't here for that. We came in for cocktails, I ordered an old fashioned and received what tasted like a watered down with waaaaay too much orange. My friend asked for a drink not too sweet nor sour, but ended up getting a drink which was almost as sour as eating a lemon, orange, and grapefruit at the same time. Service here was rather terrible, we weren't acknowledged for a while and our bar area wasn't fully cleared until we had ordered AND received our drinks. Never got a wipe down. This place likes to pretend they are some fancy, classy cocktail lounge, but all you'll find is cheap, dirty glasses and an atmosphere that is more "dated" than "vintage". After a refreshing stroll at the falls, we came back into downtown to the place with the finest martinis in Seattle. The elegant bar and lounge offers plush seating at tables, or bar seating, with a clear view of the 4th and Olive cross-street for people-watching. I had two perfect cocktails: the Bee's Knees, followed by a slightly dirty classic Sapphire martini. The seats are comfy for lingering, and there are small glass carafes of dry roasted nuts if you aren't ordering food, which I did not, as I dined elsewhere later. Ambience for days. read more

Honestly, this is the worst place I've eaten in Seattle. Thankfully our waitress was a complete angel, but it was truly a dreadful experience. I ordered the crab cakes, which were supposed to be lightly breaded and pan seared. Let me just say they were 95% breading, molded into tiny circular cubes, and definitely frozen. Horrible. We asked the concierge at our hotel what's a mellow, chill place to have some drinks and this is where we were sent! And no, we were not staying at the hotel where Oliver's is. My daughter said- let's sit at the bar. I love sitting at the bar because it just seems cozy and you always end up talking to someone. It was basically empty in there but for a few folks on the stools. The drinks are classy and the prices reflect that. It did not stop us though as it was a special occasion so we went for it. They use crown royal and absinthe and good local gins in their special cocktails after all. I went with my gin martini for starters and that's when we noticed the star of the show. And let me tell you he is a class act. Heck for all I know, that really might have been Oliver himself. He makes the drink right in front of your chair including the lemon peel. And he does it with such finesse. He also is hilarious and gregarious in all manners let me tell you! I pointed out the water dripper he had and asked him how they make their absinthe. We got an amazing story about absinthe in general and then he gave us a sample. My daughter loves licorice so she was all over it. We kicked back and yes - met another couple and ended up heading somewhere together down the street to go dancing. By the time we left Olivers the bar stools were completely full and the tables behind us had barely anyone sitting at them. That's true entertainment. read more

Our favorite lounge in downtown Seattle! Twice we've visited Seattle, twice staying in the Mayflower Park Hotel &, during our visits, we've frequented Oliver's nightly. Though I usually prefer to sit at a table when in a lounge, here we prefer to sit at the bar: we can interact with the staff, other guests & look outside, watching the people going by. Sometimes I wave &/or smile & sometimes someone will wave &/or smile back. There is no TV blaring away, just the soft background music & the sounds of people conversing. Old school cocktails, a beautiful Absinthe fountain, famous for their Martinis & a good wine list, featuring local vineyards. The staff are always busy but, if you have any issue with your drink, food or service, they will address it immediately & make it right. However, because they are busy, we tend to try to understand & be patient, as we're in no hurry in this place. No need to be! We've even come back to AZ having made new friends who have also visited Oliver's. Chris, Jenny & Eliseo will make you the best cocktail (ask about their seasonal creations!). If you are dining, Susan & the rest of the staff will ensure that you are comfortable, relaxed & that everything is perfect. Friends who live in Seattle love going to Oliver's! Fantastic place for classic cocktails. Sit back and take in the hustle and bustle of the downtown shopping district in comfort. There are always complementary honey-roasted peanuts with your cocktails, and during happy hour they also have a variety of complimentary hot dishes they rotate through during the week: fried mac & cheese, taquitos, chips & salsa, fried vegies, etc. The traditional eggnog (seasonal) is the best I've had. The Sazerac is made with French absinthe and the best we've tried outside of New Orleans. And the old fashioned - oh my. Real quality here - trust the bartenders. ;) They always have a drink special that they create each day and have stellar skills. They also serve small plates from the award-winning Andaluca kitchen including really fantastic charcuterie & cheese platter, burger & fries, BLT, and great salads. Came for drinks with about 8 people. The drinks are a bit $$ but everyone liked theirs. The service was very very good. They quickly rearranged tables for so many people. Without difficulty they kept all of our drinks straight and our checks separate. The atmosphere is very old hotel bar and cozy. I imagine it feels very warm in a rainy day. They have 3 different absinthe and although I very much prefer mine with ice water they can also make it the French way with the sugar cube. read more

For those of you who missed the article in the Seattle Times, Oliver's just celebrated it's 35th anniversary. In honor of this occasion they (insanely) opened up their doors to the public and had free food and incredibly cheap drinks ($3.50 a pop). It was absolute chaos with the amount of people there. I felt like I was in Pamplona at the running of the bulls. That said, the food was great and endless and the drinks were awesome. They had a lot of their signature drinks to offer. I loved the Oliver's Royale. The service was amazing. I have no idea how they did it, but they all kept a smile and were so kind throughout the event even with all the craziness. Really good bar. Very laid back atmosphere and everyone ewas really cool. Seating is quite quick and it can be alot quicker if you sit at the bar for which I did so I can watch all the people in the rain freezing while I'm nice and toasty. Unreal drinks and martinis. Several Lemondrops and the bartender and I were best friends since childhood. I can't even remember his name. They make a good moscow mule that my wife saw on Oprah. Since when did Oprah promote drinking on her show? It contains ginger beer and at first i was thinking this is going to horrible but after a taste it actually is refreshing. It's that type of drink which would be good on a hot day and you just want something good and quenching. Kind of like gatorade but with alcohol. My love of Oliver's began six months ago when my fiance and I were trying to register at Macy's. No one told us how stressful registering is. After half an hour we needed a stiff cocktail to bolster our spirits. But where to get an adult beverage downtown at 4pm on a Sunday? Cue Oliver's miraculous arrival in our lives. Shining like a tastefully understated beacon of booze, right across the street from Macy's, it was a gift sent from the Booze Angels. (Yes, Virginia, they do exist.) I love everything about this bar. It's close to work. It's ambience is classy without making you feel like a schlub for being in jeans. The cocktail waitress is a professional. The bartender is even better. The house cocktail list is inventive and delicious. I routinely find myself craving a "Silver Belles" in the middle of the day. The was the big draw for me to stay at the Mayflower hotel it is inside of. Strolled in around 10 or so on a Sunday night and grabbed a martini...the Oliver's Manhattan if I remember correctly. Place was extremely relaxing, like a swanky bar area in a dream home. Service was great and drinks were out fast. At first I thought the drink process of ~$15 each was high, but the first sip shut me up. No cheap alcohol, not watered down, no games. I often enjoy a strong drink on the weekends and this one made me take my time to enjoy its taste and the atmosphere. Stopped by on Wednesday for a couple drinks w/ my girlfriend. I was in the mood for a martini, and right there at the top of the cocktail menu was exactly what I was looking for. She was in the mood for a bloody mary, and they had one w/ bacon flavored vodka which I thought was pretty funny. It is served w/ a slice of bacon and the sip I took was surprisingly (I don't like bacon) good! After our first drinks, one of the bartenders (I didn't catch his name) recommended a manhattan, which he mixed up perfectly. I like a really good manhattan, but it has to be really good. My girlfriend really hates manhattans, and it doesn't matter how good they are, but after I insisted she try a sip of this one, even she admitted how good it was. So already you know it was awesome. Her second drink was called a Paradigm Shift, I believe. She asked the bartender for something not too sweet, and he recommended this. After trying it, she described it as "the best drink I've ever had." It was delicious for sure. Not too sweet w/ the perfect amount of tanginess. To be honest, I really fell in love w/ this place. I loved hearing Frank Sinatra playing on the stereo at the perfect volume, I loved being able to look out the window and see the rain fall, I loved the bartenders knowledge and attentiveness, I loved the free peanuts...I really love this place! I would -and will- recommend Oliver's to all my friends, and hope everyone gets a chance to stop by. read more

Oliver's is a nice little hotel bar downtown and it's perfect to stop into for a reprieve from the the crush of shopping crowds. They have some interesting cocktails on the menu - I've tried several and it's hard to go wrong with any of them, really. The same goes for their regular mixed drinks. This definitely isn't a dive bar. The decor and atmosphere are pleasing, despite the fact it's just a few feet away from the hotel lobby, which can get hectic and loud. Service is always impeccable here. The artichoke dip is amazing. My only complaint is their free food during their Happy Hour is really sub-par. Generic tortilla chips and chicken wings? It really doesn't mesh with the ambiance or the drinks. Ooh, they also have absinthe. The real stuff. The AWESOME stuff. None of that "absenthe" junk. read more

Solid hotel bar I have walked by a thousand times and never noticed. Yelp steered us here while we were looking for places we'd never been. Stopped in and seated ourselves with a view of the street, tried a few of the drinks, I had the Vesper, named for Bond's martini...and the quote from the first time he ordered it is in the menu, so you know what it is they're doing. We stayed for a few rounds...midday on a weekday meant a lot of blue hairs getting their retirement drinks on, but everyone seemed to be having a fine time. The desserts are great, the drinks are hit or miss, and the crab cakes are awful. Service is not what one expects at a "nice" restaurant. I'm still trying to figure out how a highly rated Seattle restaurant can screw up a crab cake, but they did. If you like mostly bread crumbs and little crab, then order away. They tasted like generic stuffing mix, made with not enough water, so just dry and crumbly, and not a lot of flavor (or crab). I'm not kidding. I love crab cakes and look forward to them when I'm at a nice place in Seattle, so that was disappointing The service was okay, not great. Best part about this lounge is the gorgeous windows - especially at Xmas time. If you can sit at the bar, do it. Service will be better, and you can see the windows, and get a better description of the drinks right from the bartenders. They make a great Old Fashioned, and the Paradigm Shift is best drink on the menu. A lot of their specialty drinks are just too bitter, and frankly, nasty. I like bitters, and I like complex drinks...just not theirs Order carefully, don't be afraid to send stuff back if not acceptable, and you'll be fine. It's a not so sweet but slightly tart balanced martini. Seriously delicious. The drinks are over the top, but I'd say the atmosphere is a close second. It's a casual relaxing place to just sit, drink, chat and eat peanuts. (yummy salty peanuts) It's not a scene.... If anything I'd compare it to like a library.. if you could drink, talk and eat at library. It's calm.. but classy. A+ for drinks. A+ for atmosphere. Excellent cocktail bar inside the Mayflower hotel. Going inside you can feel like it's a place where they want you to relax and have conversations with your friends or coworkers. There are little distractions about work, no music playing in the background and no television monitors. Just you, your friends, and the bartender. The drinks that were prepared were all excellent. I ordered a sidecar, which was perfectly balanced. However, I would have like to have my glass fully rimmed with sugar instead of just one small portion of the glass. A couple short quick bullet points about this place: 1. It's a hotel bar, aka the atmosphere is slightly classy but they won't give a shit if you show up in shorts 2. It's not cheapest around, $10-13 a drink 3. Cocktails are good, but not "amazing". For me, they were certainly interesting enough to want to order a couple rounds each. It seemed a lot of reviewers thought the price was exorbitantly priced. Personally I didn't think it was too bad, but maybe cause I'm from San Francisco. Keep those 3 points I mentioned in mind, and I think you'll get exactly what you expect. My personal opinion is that it wasn't a half-bad to spend some time at, given how lowly I normally think of hotel bars. read more

Can I just say I absolutely love this craft lounge! Because I do. It is classy and fabulous and really makes you feel like you are in a different era...circa 20's-40's! My friends and I will frequent this place when we have an outings downtown and we are NEVER disappointed. The vibe is cool, the bartenders/servers are even better and the price matches what you would think...$$$.
