Came here for drinks after work with the hubby and ordered the "Uptown Margarita's." OMG! The bartender is AMAZING! I've never had anything like that before! It was like music being poured into a glass (I know, cheesy right?) But it was so good! Had to order another one! And another great thing about this bar is two women were walking in both with kids and the bartender said "sorry, no one under 21 allowed in. I don't make the rules." Awesome!!! This hotel bar has great drinks, comparable prices, and seating on a Friday night between happy hour and party time. I went with two friends at about seven p.m. and we got great service, even though we're all under forty and were obvious first-timers. After barhopping in the downtown area, my friend and I decided to visit this bar last. Interestingly enough, we ended on a pretty expensive note. This bar is located inside the Mayflower hotel, so you'll have to walk through the lobby/reception area to get here. The bar was dimly lit and had a very chill ambiance. The place is pretty upscale and looks amazing with the high ceilings. There wasn't that many people when we came either (granted it was a weekday), so it's a great place to grab a drink with a date. The bartender here was amazing and made me a caipirinha, which I've never had before. I really enjoyed my drink and was glad that my bartender didn't make me a cocktail that bartenders usually make. This is definitely one of the more expensive bars, but you're paying for the ambiance, service, and quality drinks. It's great for a classy night out with a significant other :) read more

Baby, you gotta have style and this place has it. It's dark but not too dark and loud with the clink of martini glasses. And although there is no music, it's almost guaranteed you'll hear Dean Martin songs in your head. Or perhaps, the theme from James Bond. Not impressed. Drinks are passable, but for the price and limited happy hour options, there are dozens of bars I'd rather go to in the city. And the free happy hour buffet they had was chips with Tostido's salsa and/or Tyson's chicken wings - I don't eat that stuff at home, I don't want it when I go out, and if I'm paying 6 or 10 dollars for a cocktail, I definitely don't want to mix those flavors with a good/decent cocktail. And I didn't spot a happy hour food menu, so I couldn't even order anything that I would like better. And the complimentary peanuts were way too salty. The atmosphere is quiet, but feels a little cloying...perhaps it's because of all the business men and elderly tourists there, but I just was not digging the atmosphere. This is what a hotel bar should be. Lovely mellow woody ambience. Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin in the background. Fantastic Martini's & mixed drinks. The bartenders are super, attentive and expert at their mixing. My wife loved their LemonDrop Martini & I just kept to my classics which were xlnt. Additionally, the bonus is that their menu is from the Hotel Mayflower's restaurant Andaluca & just xlnt. We had an amazing burger w/steak fries & lovely Tuscan Tomato soup. If you're looking for 'action' & a hip young pick up scene, this is not that place, but it most certainly is a warm comfy & great example of a Great American Bar. read more

I just had another successful happy hour session in Oliver's and feel the need to share. During a weekend shopping excursion, we felt parched and stopped at one of my favorite bars in downtown Seattle. We had already been to a ho hum happy hour up the street and my senses were in need of prodding. Intrigued by the advertisement for the rum and ginger beer-based Fighting Cock for $6, I dragged my GF (willingly) inside and we bellied up to the bar. The place was bustling, folks were having fun, and I felt ready to get after it. My drink was even better than I had hoped and I managed to quaff four of them in relatively short order while my GF sipped wine. They have a very extensive cocktail menu with an emphasis on the classics. Moscow Mule, Sazerac, absinthe, etc. And a few nice free snacks, along with bar peanuts to absorb some of the booze. And finally, the bartenders themselves were fun to talk to. Knowledgeable about the drinks, but not in a show off kind of way. It was time well spent. My girlfriend and I walked in and the bartender was quick in suggesting drinks and getting our order started, even with it being jam packed on Sat! Oliver's Lounge is located inside the Mayflower Park Hotel in downtown Seattle. It offers beautiful floor to ceiling windows behind the bar that look out to the corner of 4th and Olive Way. The staff is very friendly. They have a nice selection of wines, drinks and food from their menu. Loved Oliver's! Located in the Mayflower Hotel, the staff were incredibly friendly and Patrick(a most exceptional bartender!) was great! He really took the time to provide a little background to your drinks. If you ask, they'll even get the book their bartenders use for you to purchase! The Sazarac is the best I've had outside of New Orleans. I looked forward to our nightcap each night, and even did a before Dinner and after dinner on the last night! I brought my friend from out of town here to show her old school classy Seattle. We were greeted by 70 degrees inside and black stand up fans by the tables. We specifically ordered Tito's and club soda and they brought well drinks with almost no ice that were warm. Even after stuffing the drinks with strawberries we couldn't drink them because of the vodka quality. We ordered a cheese plate, came out cold-had been in the fridge pre prepared. Had club crackers and old cheese, it was disgusting. The waiter never came to check on us or offer another drink. We had to get up to get our tab-34.00 for 2 Tito's and club soda and 12.00 for a nasty cheese plate. I am so disappointed that this iconic bar has gone down the tubes. read more

The food here was above average. The service was not. 3 of us walked in and took a seat at a table within eyesight of the bar. We sat for about five minutes before anyone came over. The first thing the bartender said to us was "Do you have your ID's? Not a single "hello" or "welcome". I asked what the cocktail of the day was and his reply was "ugh, I haven't gotten that far yet". He did ask me what I wanted it to be, but by that time we all felt a little unwelcome. I do not recommend this place for cocktails or happy hour. The bartender makes sure he informs all patrons that he has "a lot of tickets before you" (I.e. I'm super important and busy and you are not!). He doesn't smile or engage with his customers at all. Don't waste your time or money. Great place! We stayed at the Mayflower Park Hotel for three nights this past Thursday, Friday and Saturday, which Oliver's is located and thoroughly enjoyed this bar every night! The staff was welcoming and the drinks were delicious and decently priced. We came to love their signature cocktail called the Silver Belle. Very refreshing. We watched the bartenders make it a lot and even shared the recipe with us and now going to enjoy at home always remembering Oliver's. This is a smaller place but I like it that way. There are tall windows behind the bar showcasing the downtown streets (lounge is on a corner) and enjoyed the view from our bar seats. We could enjoy our drinks and people watch at the same time. There are plenty of tables but we like to sit at the bar and interact with the bartenders and watch them make different drinks. We happen to always arrive when the lounge had a handful of people there and within 30-40 minutes the lounge was full and busy, which is a good sign. We frequented this place the most on our trip because it was located in our hotel and simply because it was great! If I'm ever back in Seattle, I will definitely pay a visit to Oliver's Lounge whether or not I stay at the hotel! read more

Patric the lead barman is a true bartender in every sense of the word. Great knowledge and has put together an outstanding cocktail list. Go see Craig late nights as well. a solid place. the lunch menu at first i thought was a bit limited, but it's pretty much got everything you might want to have. i was in the mood for something else that i can't remember right now. i got the Oliver's Pizza which is a simple pepperoni pizza. i asked for crushed red pepper and parmesan and after dousing those littler buggers in them, i was ready to go. yes, plural buggers because you get TWO. like those commercials in the 80's for little cesar's pizza. they gimmick was "pizza pizza". you got 2 pizza's that seemed like they amounted to the same mass of one pizza at a competitor. you can get fancy with crab cakes and salad, or you can keep it semi-real with a $10 burger. i can't remember the exact price, but it's one of those expensive burgers. the cocktails are supposed to be really good. and i wanna come back and try the free appetizers at happy hour. read more

Went in last night for a drink at the bar with a couple of fiends. Within 2 minutes of serving us our drinks the bartender puts blue cleaning gloves on and starts spraying lysol right in front of us. The fumes were overwhelming and literally making us sick. When we let him know it was bothering us, he made some rude comment about us being lucky that he kept the bar clean and he just kept spraying. Stayed at the Mayflower Park Hotel in Seattle on Sunday 11 November. Opted to have dinner at Oliver's Lounge in the lobby as it was raining pretty hard. The Service and food were of a very low standard. The place was full and they only had one server on duty. We ordered red wine by the glass, but somehow got a glass of Chardonnay to start with. The food took a while, which was fine, as we were in no hurry. Then the server told us that the kitchen is slammed, whose fault is that? The food, 1. Pear vinaigrette salad was mostly vinegar 2. Calamari was overcooked and dry. 3. Lamb meatballs were very dry. During our meal I ordered a second glass of wine, which the server forgot, by the time she remembered we already finished our meals. Asked for the check and waited and waited, eventually got up and put our jackets on, then we got our check. A very bad experience. read more
