I've seen Olga's kitchen everywhere throughout the metro Detroit area, so I finally got down to trying it. I guess the best way to describe Olga's would be a "slightly upscale coney island". Then again, I'm not really from Detroit, so maybe that's not even close. I had the regular Olga Sandwich--which is basically a gyro (and a small one at that). Nothing really special about this gyro at all--I'd much prefer a HUGE, greasy gyro from a run-down Vienna Beef shop in the south side of Chicago. I will admit though that the pita here was delicoius! What would make Olga's WAY more appealing to me is having non-waiter/waitress service. More like a Panera Bread. If I'm looking for a quick lunch, the last thing I want is to wait to be served--I'd much prefer to order my food, seat myself, and go as I please. read more

There are a few points I need to make about this s place and Olga's in general. 1. They all seem to operate differently for some reason with slight menu and pricing variations. Very odd 2. The food portions are very inconsistent from location to location. 3. The food is still very good. You can't go wrong with the all you can eat soup and salad. I was very disappointed with this Olgas. I ordered a carryout. The good: The girl that answered the phone was nice polite and helpful. I ordered a basket of snackers and the oriental Olga sandwich. They do curbside to-go which is awesome and and great and convenient service. The person bring my food out was friendly and nice. she was out to my car within a min or 2, which was great. She had appropriate change on her which most of the time at any Olag's i have been to they never seem to have change and have to go back in to get it. The bad: My snackers were not good at all. hardly cooked. i was super disappointed because i love snackers and was really looking forward to them. My sandwich was not the best. I ordered the oriental vegetable Olga and the one i received was the veg one but it also had chicken on it, which I'm assuming i was charged for but didn't want it or ask for it. I fed the chicken to my dog so it didn't get wasted and she loved it lol Overall the staff was great but the food left alot to be desired. Ill prob give them one more shot. Maybe it was an off day for them. But as of now i do not recommend this Olgas location unless u want overpriced crappy food. read more

Great bread, tasty almond Swiss dip, and good service despite of getting my order wrong I arrived at 9pm and was the only customer there. The waitress was friendly and focused on quality service. I ordered the "Orginal Olga" and a side of "Snackers". They brought out the Snackers before the sandwich and had gotten me a full size order instead of a side order. The waitress said the cook had made the mistake, which was in my favor. I found it surprising that they would mess up my order, being that I was the only customer in the restaurant besides that the service was good, the waitress would check if I needed anything regularly. The sandwich looked so good I took a picture, the presentation was great. The vegetables were fresh and tasty. The sauce and cheese were good, the meat was a little dry but not to the point where it took away from the sandwich (I guess its healthier than being super greasy). The bread was hands down the best part of the sandwich, it was warm and tasted like it was fresh out of the oven. I plan to go back again to try a different sandwich and to try the desert Snackers. read more

How can they call it curbside pick up when you have to go inside to get your order? I even had employees walk past my car and didn't say a word while I waited nearly 10 minutes. My order was just sitting on the counter, so by the time I got home, it was lukewarm. I have enjoyed Olga's food since it was an option at the food court within Summit Place Mall in the 90s. The quality of food has been lacking for a while now and the portion sizes are terrible in ratio with what you're paying. Over $40 for dinner for 2 (before tip) should leave me satisfied and taking home leftovers! Overall I enjoy Olga's, but the service is slow and and some of the employees are not service oriented nor friendly. Perhaps other locations are a bit better, but we shall see. read more

The Veggie Olga's Sandwich and the Cinnamon Sugar Snackers were both fabulous, as was the service! We were in a hurry because we to catch a plane in Detroit, but the hostess assured us we could be out in 45 minutes and the waitress made that happen seamlessly! Went here after the gym. I got a steak, vegetable, and cheese wrap, it was excellent. The ingredients were large cut, I usually like a bit more chopped up but it was good. The flat bread for the wraps was great, server checked in regularly. Very clean and new restaurant. read more

We generally enjoy Olga's, both the food and service, but today was quite different on both fronts ... Place was little busy but we sat without waiting, places our order within 5 minutes, 4 basic meals , Was 30 min and still no food , we asked a bus person if there was a problem , she was pleasant and said she would check... Our food was soon brought out, unfortunately, completely cold... we mentioned it to our waiter upon his asking how things were, his response was "well I was busy so I musta left it window a while" "is there anything you want me to do about it ?" His response was surprisingly rude ... the restaurant was 80% full when we got here, now 10%? (7) tables with people at it, mostly empty .... we were here waiting , that long .... Very disappointed, will not return here and likely not any "Olga's" ... I love Olga's, but today was not so great. Olga's was crowded like sometimes but that wasn't the problem. It was the waitress. She sat us down at a table not a booth since there was none left. She went to help another group of costumers and started to wipe down a booth we asked if we could sit in the booth and she said the other people wanted the it. We were there first and they had more people so they should have been at the table. We left because she was so rude and did not want to eat there because of her attitude. read more

I love Olga's. I'm a true frequent flyer, if you will. I always get an Original Olga with seasoned fries, it's my absolute favorite! I've never had an issue with anything until tonight: I found a total of 3 short human hairs (one of them MAY have been a dog hair, a black dog hair) inside my Olga and fries. I don't like making a big deal out of it just to get a free meal or whatever, but whoever is in the kitchen during the afternoon/evening shift needs to wear a fine hair net. read more

Food is always good... The fruit smoothies are so delicious and fresh! The wait staff could use some improvement. Drinks should never go dry as the Sahara desert without ice! I've always been an Olgas fan and was delighted to find one so close to home. Was highly disappointed. My booth was sticky, and had to ask the waitress to wipe it down three times, and the seats were torn up. My menu had stains on it, and my cup had a small piece of lettuce crusted on it. I found this gem between a Panera Bread and Starbucks, so appropriately located. My waitress told me the founder (Olga) used to sell her bread pudding pushing her cart through the streets in the 70's. Love this kind of story. After a loyal following she opened her first restaurant, and now there are 30+. Olga's Kitchen has since gone Corporate and deservedly so. That has not tempered the service level or quality of food. I ordered the Spinach Cheese Pie and Broccoli Soup combination. I don't usually go for bread pudding but after I heard her story I gave in. And glad I did. Mark my word's, this Chain will continue to grow as long as they maintain the standard that has been their trademark. I will look for this restaurant the next time in Michigan and hope this chain comes west to California. read more

During my visit a young girl whose name starts with a C (not sure if I should call her out on Yelp) took my take-out order. She was not very familiar with the menu and tried to charge me extra for chicken on my chicken olga. I had to point out to her that on the menu, chicken is part of the olga. I ordered an add-on side of curly fries and an add-on side of zucchini fries. When she repeated the order back to me, she had entered two curly fries (zero zucchini fries.) She had been distracted by someone else talking when I was ordering.The zucchini fries are awesome, and are the main reason I come to Olga's. Without them, I would have been devastated. I also ordered two add-on quinoa salads to our olgas. She added two FULL size salads to my order. I had to correct her. I also pronounced quinoa several times to her, but she apparently didn't hear me because she still insisted on pronouncing it incorrectly. I asked for the dressing to be on the side. When I got home, I was pleased that our salads were not drenched in dressing, but there was also no dressing at all in the bag. She just omitted the dressing, rather than giving them to us on the side. I gave her my Rewards card immediately upon walking up to the register, but she somehow forgot to swipe it to see if I had any special offers. I caught it at the end, so she entered it at the end. I feel I probably missed a deal. The whole process took way too long. She was very nice, but needs to be fully trained before operating a busy take out register. Also, I am disappointed that I can no longer create my own coupon on your website. I have been told that my discounts will automatically pop up when I give my card at the register. I have not yet had any discounts offered to me at all. I am not pleased with your new "rewards" system. The nearest Olga's is a half an hour drive from my home, yet I still make a point of seeking you out because I enjoy your food. Updating this review but original star level stands. The service seems to have marginally improved. However, in my three cheese Olga, when I cut it into 4 equal parts, only the center two had cheese on them. There was abundant tomato, but it was underripe. Perhaps it's just this location. I had a visit at the Wixom location that was much better. read more

I love Olga's. Used to go here pretty often growing up, but now that I live in OH it's a lot less frequent that I get to one. The regular gyro and fries is always a great way to go and the orange shake is really good too. The olga salad and bread are a good choice too if you're really hungry and need something else. read more

We ordered as usual and the friendly waitress informed us that Olga's has removed the "soup, salad, and snackers" from the menu. However, she said that they will honor it for a while for those people who are accustomed to ordering it that way. My advice to Olga's is to put this item back on the menu because it is probably three of the most popular menu items. Also, when they stop offering the soup salad and snackers, I will eat elsewhere. I was at the Brighton location on Friday . I ordered the Original Olga, not realizing it had meat in the sandwich . ( I was thinking it was a 3 cheese Olga). I let our sweet waitress know and that I wanted the Vegie Olga instead. The mistake was mine,yet the manager came over and said" We will be happy to wrap it up for you to take home to give to someone as we would only throw it away." this is a nice place but i cant stomach eating here anymore, the first few times were perfect but the last 3 times i went i found something in my food that obviously shouldn't be there. the first meal i found a broken toothpick mixed under the food, second time i found food from a completely different slopped on top and the last and final straw was pulling a long hair out of my mouth from the bite i just took. i miss this place so much! i want to come back and get my favorite meal again but i just cant go back knowing that there might be something disgusting in my food. read more

Slowest service on the face of the earth. I'm here for a to go order. I've been here for 28 minutes. I've watches diners who are sitting show up eat and go. This is the most slow restaurant I have ever been to. Every time I want Olgas it seems like I am by this one. The rest of them seem to have it together. I walk in. I order. I get my food. I leave. Nowhere else in this chains existence is there a 20+ minute wait period attached. I just wanted a spinach pie. I have been eating them since I was a kid. That's it. Just one spinach pie. I got a bread pudding for my wife and daughter as well. A worker brought out another persons order and asked me if I was Waiting on a to go order for Beau. I replied yes. She then told me that they were waiting on three or four things so they could complete it. I replied I only had two things. She turned her back and walked away. 10 minutes or so later my food came out. It smelled good. It was hot it was right. She handed me my bag and walked away. No sorry for the wait. No have a nice day. Just a ponytail. Could t ask for a manager as I was now officially the only person around. I get it. Food service is tough. Customers suck. I understand that. I deal with them every day of my life. I would have gave three stars if they would have just said sorry for the wait. Anything is better than what I got. read more

I met my family here for lunch on a Sunday. There were 14 of us and they were excellent! They sat us right away and our waitress was wonderful. She had our drinks, appetizers and everything out to us in no time. She took our order and shortly we were happily munching away on one of the best meals I have had in a long time.
