All around great experience The pulled pork was very very good, and the sausage was flavored well. The ribs weren't super tender but tasted solid and the ham was meh. Banana pudding was decent and the smoked beans were awesome! Thought the prices were fair for what you get. Will definitely return.

I have to admit, this place isn't fancy at all. My son wanted to pick up lunch one day through the drive thru, so I drove up. I noticed the outside of the building could use a coat of paint and the roof, well - nothing to do with the food. There was a Long line! I was talking to someone on the phone while we were waiting & she said, "Well, you know it's good if the wait is long!" The woman at the window was friendly when she handed us our order. Jump now to my son asking if we could go eat there for lunch. I scrunched my nose up, but said, okay. As we walked to the door, I noticed there were lots of flowers - looked to be hand-planted, aww. Very pretty. The cooker out on the curb had smoke coming from it and it smelled delicious. When we entered, we were greeted warmly by a man who was quickly moving behind the counter. The place was spotless, floors shiny, the sides/dessert area was perfect (see pictures). We placed our orders and were checked out in a friendly manner, not rushed or anything. We arrived about 11am, so only a couple of other people were there. We took our trays and sat down and by 11:30, the place was getting really busy. The meat so good I didn't want to put bbq sauce on it. My son said - right? It doesn't need it. That's a first. The fried okra was cooked just the way I like it - hot and crunchy but not burnt. The green beans had a different flavor - my son said they are cooked in the meat juices. We ordered out sandwiches on Texas toast, which was a 1st for me. They were SO good!! Bottom line - go try it. Nice people working there (owners?), great country music playing in the background (not too loud) and nice big windows that let the sunshine in. And the food - well, I took a pound of chopped beef home for my daughter's family - should have taken two. They loved it. We have a competitor near our house & my daughter said - we're driving over there from now on! Note to self - don't always judge a restaurant by the outside!

Typical BBQ joint ambiance and nothing fancy, but I don't come for the environment but mainly food. I ordered the brisket and ribs two meat plate. Unfortunately, very underwhelming and not memorable. Received the end cut of the brisket, which was too moist and almost mushy in texture. The ribs did not have much flavor and extremely chewy. This would be a decent replacement for a Dickie's BBQ if that's what you are craving.

From the 70's to 2013 I've had great bbq in TX. Dallas, Irving, Austin and surrounding cities. I moved back to California in 2013 and good bbq is elusive. Had a quick trip to North Dallas and while driving by the smoker smell drew me in.... I am so glad I stopped! Looks can be deceiving. Just an average looking restaurant from the outside. Plenty of parking. Inside seating for at least 50 people. Some outside picnic tables in front. The pulled pork looked delicious so I went with the two sides for $13.99. They have many choices for sides, my choice was jalapeno pinto beans (not hot) and the green beans. Reccomend both. The sandwich was nice size with a pad of cole slaw on top of the meat (Memphis style). Bbq sauce was on the side without asking, I like that. Definitely give The Old House BBQ try, I think you'll like it!

Tried Old House the first time yesterday, after having passed by this place many times. I have to confess, I wanted to try this place for a while, because within a square mile of this restaurant, you can smell that smoker that's in the parking lot - a siren song for the barbecue lover. I had the daily special which was a baked potato loaded with brisket, these, chives, and other good stuff. It was very tasty. The brisket was definitely the star of the show....as it should have been. My friend had ribs and spicy sausage - he said it was delicious. Barbecue was good, but not great, and perhaps a bit overpriced. Give this place four stars because there's plenty of average barbecue around, and I'm always happy to find another good place.

Paid $3.25 for this container of peach cobbler mush

Trying to find a DECENT bbq place in Dallas is turning out to be impossible. I'm from Kansas City so I know good bbq and I love it but here lately it has been a challenge. Ordered my food to-go and got a chopped brisket(no seasoning on the meat) sandwich, oily bbq beans and bland potato salad. Overall the only thing I was satisfied about was the size of the sandwich. Beans and potato salad were not good at all. Whoever is making these products needs to step up their game up A LOT. The peach cobbler I ordered was so awful I can't even believe they sell it like that. I Paid $3.25 for a container of gummy mush that does not even resemble peach cobbler. Who's cooking this stuff?? I just can't believe someone put that in a container and thought it was ok.

Local bbq spot in Carrollton. Plenty of choices for sides. I personally judge a bbq place by the potato salad. It was good. The ribs were also really good. The plates are served with a seasoned dinner roll. It was really good too. Can't wait to go back.

BBQ Pork Ribs, Brisket, Sausage, Cheesy Potatoes, Mac & Cheese,Coleslaw, bread

Ok ok ok.... Nothing special to say about the ribs but no seasoning and moistness.... The Mac n cheese was dry no cheesiness. The brisket was alright, I've tasted better. The cheese potatoes tasted fake out the box. The coleslaw was decent. The sausage was just sausage ,nothing really special or rememberable about the barbecue sauce neither. I'm not the one to complain and I try to be fair. My experience eating the barbecue was not considered real smoky flavor, tender barbecue I'm use to.

However, when this was brought to the owner's attention, he didn't apologize but instead tried to guilt me, the customer, with, "Aw, you didn't like my catfish?" The staff at the register showed him the catfish and I directly told him it was inedible and explained why. His response? "That's ok. You're not hurting my feelings." It wasn't personal and it's weird that he tried to make it about him. I doubt a single soul wants to eat rubbery catfish. A simple apology would have gone a lot further.
